Raw Revelations: WM25 Feuds Escalate
The WWE Universe may feel they've been thrown a curveball as Raw ended, with Cena winning against Edge but not gaining the World Heavyweight Title. Edge of course was disqualified, but then the bombshell announcement came from interim GM Vickie Guerrero, Big Show is the new #1 Contender for Edge's title. Cena and Edge were both shocked as Raw left the air. Most likely from here, Cena will have to overcome some necessary hurdles to get himself back into that title picture, because it's highly doubtful WWE will have Show in the main-event instead of John Cena. We could also get one of the ever so popular Triple Threat matches too. Expect a Cena vs. Big Show rematch in which Cena reclaims the #1 spot and heads off to WM25 to face Edge for the title. Vickie Guerrero and Edge will continue to make Cena's life hell in the meantime.
The other feud which boiled over some more, was Triple H versus Randy Orton. Last night, Orton tried to wiggle his way out of the WWE title match against HHH that everyone expected at Mania. Orton claimed HHH would be going to jail, so he'd face the winner of Cena versus Edge for that title. The Game came out and got right inside Orton's head, preventing any arrest at that moment. HHH told Orton the only logical way for him to end this whole story is by defeating HHH for the title, since he's wiped out almost all the McMahon family. Orton finally had heard enough of Triple H's inciteful remarks regarding Evolution and how HHH is the better wrestler. Finally, Orton gave in and chose to face Triple H for the WWE title at Wrestlemania. There is the stipulation he set which says Hunter can't touch him unless first provoked. If Hunter does so, he goes straight to jail. That likely means Orton and Legacy will be doing their best to bait HHH into a fight from here on out. Triple H continues to give a fuming performance, and Orton is also doing decent work to escalate their feud leading up to a potential classic match at Mania.
It also looks like we may have a WWE Divas Champion versus Women's Champion match for Wrestlemania 25 which makes a lot of sense. Maryse versus Melina offers the WWE Divas and champs from each respective show battling it out, as well as a feisty French diva versus a spicy Latina diva. That would leave Beth Phoenix out of the equation though. It's also looking like Rosa Mendes may get into the right for an actual match soon based on her attack of Kelly Kelly last night.
Kane qualified for the MITB Ladder match last night, joining CM Punk so far. There's now 6 spots left, as there will be 8 total wrestlers in this year's edition of the match. As for other MITB possibilities, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Morrison, JBL, The Miz, MVP, Mr. Kennedy, The Great Khali and Mike Knox all make sense for that style match, and several of those names have competed in it before. MVP may become part of a title match of his own facing Shelton for the US title. Vladimir Kozlov seems like a logical choice after losing to Michaels last night, but he hasn't really been in this style of match before. What else does he have to do at Wrestlemania? If Batista had returned, he'd probably face Kozlov in a brand supremacy match.
Back to Kozlov, his loss to Michaels now makes sense as it gives HBK the claim he ended one man's undefeated streak and will now attempt to end Undertaker's. Unless WWE is keeping it secret, I don't believe this is the Deadman's last match at WM25, so I expect he'll keep the streak in tact, but it will still make for a terrific match between two of the biggest WWE legends.
Chris Jericho continues insulting legends, with last night's victim being Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Jericho delivers a very straight-faced, insulting commentary and does a great job at it to lead us to the final legend. Snuka didn't say all that much and ended up being part of the Piper's Pit debris at the top of the ramp. You've got to believe there will be quite a payoff for the fans though, with the legend Jericho faces at Mania being someone like Stone Cold or Hulk Hogan. Then again, Mickey Rourke doesn't have an Oscar to lose anymore, so he could change his mind, put on his tights, and get in the ring to finally fight.
