Smackdown Preview 05.15.09
With Judgment Day Pay-Per-View quickly approaching this Sunday, the superstars of Smackdown will be looking to prepare for the big event. Two champions will be defending their gold at the event, while another new feud was recently hatched. First off, the longtime star of Smackdown, Edge, will be defending his World Heavyweight Title against Jeff Hardy. Hardy earned the #1 Contender's spot after winning a tough Fatal Fourway match. In recent weeks, Hardy has seemed to have the upperhand against the Rated-R Superstar, giving him the Swanton Bomb and Twist of Fate in the ring at different moments. Edge always looks for an opportunity to strike back and gain the advantage, so what will he have brewing as Smackdown goes on the air tonight? Will Hardy once again be standing over a fallen Edge?
Another champion looking ahead to Judgment Day is Rey Mysterio. Mysterio who is the Intercontinental champ, was recently challenged by cocky superstar, Chris Jericho. Both men are newcomers to Smackdown, but Jericho continues to be a loudmouth now that he's on a new show. Mysterio seemed to have the laugh at Jericho's expense recently, as he shoved Jericho down to the ground. You'd have to wonder if Jericho will find a way to retaliate on tonight's episode of Smackdown. Will Jericho hit Mysterio with a sneak attack prior to the Pay-Per-View? How will these superstars prepare for Judgment Day tonight?
And finally, a feud which was hatched several weeks ago, saw the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga rush the ring and attack the 2009 Money in the Bank winner, CM Punk. Punk had just defeated Edge in a non-title contest and was ready to cash in to claim the World Heavyweight title. Umaga spoiled the party when he came in and ended up leveling the Straightedged Superstar, Punk. Umaga continued to show up and attack Punk in other weeks, leading up to their impending fight at Judgment Day. Will Umaga strike again on tonight's episode, or will CM Punk find a way to attack Umaga?
Also tonight, a divas tag match featuring Gali Kim and Womens Champion Melina against Michelle McCool and Alicia Fox!
