Raw Revelations: Ozzy's Crazy WWE Train
While Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne aren't full-fledged WWE fans like some of the guest hosts of past, they still managed to bring some fun to the sports entertainment realm Monday night. Their introduction showed just how popular the "Wizard of Oz" and his reality TV star wife really are. The crowd gave them a solid ovation for some time before things settled down, and various wrestlers made their way to the ring to plead their cases. Ozzy's promotion was a new autobiography due out in early 2010. Sharon did more of the talking, but Ozzy still had some funny lines including issuing an apology to Big Show for what happened to him on Raw last week, when Show wanted the Raw roster to apologize. Ozzy also had a couple "who are you" type lines with guys like The Miz and Chris Jericho, who tried their best to claim they are more important than either Osbourne. Ozzy botched Evan Bourne's name, which is something several other hosts have done with various wrestlers or even PPV's (Jeremy Piven - Summerfest). However, at least you can say Ozzy is somewhat hard to understand at times...He didn't seem to be mumbling or stuttering quite as much when he spoke last night though..
Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton were scheduled to settle their differences, but did anyone expect the match to end with a clear winner or clean one? It ended up getting changed to a six man tag match instead, with Mark Henry, MVP and Kingston winning. Kofi and Orton still have a match to fight...
The show was not without its slapstick routine, because Chavo Guerrero, Santino Marella, Jillian Hall, Chris Masters and Hornswoggle had nothing better to do. Ozzy and Sharon were judges of a Raw's Got Talent show in the ring, with Great Khali as the third judge. Chris Masters actually got some laughs as he flexed his man boobs to Ozzy's "Crazy Train" song, with Ozzy yelling "someone get that man a bra!" Khali looked sharp in his suit and chopped Chavo down when he tried to get in Sharon's face. Sharon also knocked Jillian Hall down with a slap to her face. It all culminated of course with Hornswoggle (dressed as Jack Osbourne) once again getting a Tadpole Frogsplash on Chavo. And to think not long ago, Chavo was ECW champion...
The Divas battle royal definitely illustrated how few heel divas exist on Raw. Plus when the only heel diva in it is Alicia Fox, doesn't that give away the ending? Not only that, but Eve and The Bellas are still in development as far as their talent goes so it's tough to see them winning a match of that type. Still, it was nice to see them finally wrestling. The Jack Swagger-Eve angle looks like one we've seen many times before. Swagger will be the heel wrestler pursuing Eve, but another wrestler will come to her aid setting off some sort of feud. The question is who will it be? As you can see the roster is shaky right now with few guys available to compete for the WWE Title. Maybe Evan Bourne will play the role of hero or Primo...unless someone else is going to be a surprise.
Despite that, the DX versus Cena Triple Threat match was a good idea and one we haven't really seen before. HHH and Michaels are on the same page, yet will both be going for the title, and they seem to be on good terms with Cena. So there's no real heel in that picture, but one might emerge if there's some sort of turn. It looks like beyond DX, maybe Jack Swagger and Sheamus will be the heirs to top contender status. They may even be working towards a multiple-contender match such as the Elimination Chamber.
Next week's guest host is one I'm less familiar with, although I've heard the name. Welterweight Ricky Hatton will work as show host in Sheffield, England, making for the second boxer to run the show. Let's see if his role is more prominent in his homeland than Floyd Mayweather's was in Vegas...
