Raw 1000th Episode Results 07/23/12

Raw Results from St. Louis, MO:

Raw opened with a D-Generation X reunion.  First it was just HHH and Shawn Michaels, but then they were joined by Road Dogg Jesse James, Bad Ass Billy Gunn, and X-Pac.  They did some of their in-ring antics and pre-match speech, but were interrupted by Damien Sandow.  Sandow criticized them for what Raw has become and alluded to them and the audience being degenerates.  He said if they attack him, he will become a martyr for the sophisticated minds of the world.  DX tlked over whether to attack, and then did, finishing with  Triple H pedigree.  Billy Gunn gave the famous line, "and if you're not down with that, we got two words for ya..."

Jim Ross was introduced and joined the announce team for the next match, a six man tag match.

Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, and Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio by pinfall.  The action broke down late, as Mysterio did a running jump off the apron onto Del Rio on the floor.  Sin Cara did a pendulum kick on Ziggler to send him off the apron, but Jericho dumped Cara out over the ropes.  Sheamus came up and tried for White Noise, but Jericho countered and went for Walls of Jericho.  Sheamus countered, then also caught Jericho on the Codebreaker.  Moments later, Sheamus was hung up in the ropes.  Jericho went for his running and jump off the ropes move, but Ziggler jumped on the apron and punched him down.  Sheamus knocked Ziggler back off the apron then hit the Brogue Kick.

Lawler and Cole introduced some Touts fans did about the wedding of Daniel Bryan and AJ.  They had Charlie Sheen come in live via Skype talking about how he thinks he'd fit in well on the show with a guy like Sheamus.  Cole fed to video of Daniel Bryan proposing to AJ on last Monday's Raw.

They showed AJ in a bathrobe brushing her hair backstage as she was talking about how amazing her wedding is going to be tonight.  She asked Layla if she agreed, and they showed her on camera.  Layla asked if she's sure she wants to do this.  AJ talked about people calling her unstable, then told Layla to just look outside at the unstable people all around.  Hacksaw came walking through yelling to someone, then R-Truth and Roddy Piper showed up spinning jump rope for Lil' Jimmy.  Then Mae Young showed up with a man in a big hand costume.  He said he was Mae Young's son, all grown up now.  He congratulated AJ and she thanked them.  AJ made a face and looked at Layla, who said "good luck tonight" and bolted out the door.

Brodus Clay defeated Jack Swagger by pinfall.  Late in the match he sidestepped a move from Swagger then hit a suplex on him before getting the big splash.  Prior to the match, he had introduced special guest "Dude Love" aka Mick Foley.  Dude Love pulled out Socko on Swagger after the match to put him back down.  Dude Love, Clay, Cameron and Naomi danced post-match.

They had Trish Stratus backstage showing Triple H some Yoga moves.  Trish had HHH bent over when the other DX guys walk in.  They all leave together, but X-Pac stays to try to flirt with Trish.  Trish brushes him off.

Jerry Lawler introduced the reverend Slick to preside over the Daniel Bryan and AJ wedding.  Slick comes out, then the groom Daniel Bryan arrives.  Slick does a speech about marriage and then asks if anyone has reason they shouldn't get married.  Nobody comes out to interrupt.  Bryan says "YES" when asked if he takes AJ to be his wife.  AJ doesn't reciprocate and says she said yes to another proposal she received from a man earlier.  Out comes Vince McMahon who introduces the new GM of Raw - AJ.  Bryan becomes furious over this.  AJ skips around him and leaves the ring, with Bryan tearing apart all the wedding items in the ring as Raw goes to break.

CM Punk came to the ring while Bryan was throwing a fit, and reminded him that AJ is now the General Manager so that can't be good for his future.  Bryan and Punk started to argue over who was "Best in the World" until they were interrupted, by The Rock.  Rock got in the ring and told Bryan he doesn't decide who the greatest is, the people do.  Rock also made a big announcement, that he will be facing whoever the WWE champion is at the Royal Rumble.  Punk told him it'll be him.  Daniel Bryan butted into their convo and said he will be the face of the WWE, but Rock said he looks like a homeless lumberjack banged an Oompa Loompa.  It ended with Rock wishing Punk good luck against Cena tonight before hitting Rock Bottom on Bryan.

Hall of Famer Bret Hart came out to introduce the participants in tonight's Intercontinental Championship match, first the champ Christian, and then, The Miz.

The Miz defeated Christian for the Intercontinental Championship by pinfall.  During the match, Christian hurt his knee.  That came into play later as he flipped over Miz's back but landed badly.  That gave Miz the opportunity to hit Skullcrushing Finale for the big win, his first ever IC title reign.

Cole and Lawler talked to Charlie Sheen on Skype again.  This time he talked about being excited for Rock to face the WWE champ at Royal Rumble.  He added that the weasel, Daniel Bryan, has some real "Anger Management" issues and pointed to his cap, promoting his new show.

Regis Philbin had a segment talking about how he's been hooked forever on Raw, and ran down some of the guests that were on his show with Kathie Lee: Freddy Blassy, The Rock, and John Cena.

Triple H came down to the ring in his DX shirt and camo pants.  They cut to footage from months ago when Brock Lesnar broke the WWE COO's arm in the ring.  Triple H said he had his fun earlier and now it's time to pick up the intensity.  He called out Brock Lesnar to give him an answer about a match at SummerSlam right now.  After several moments, Brock's music hit and Triple H waited.  Paul Heyman came out instead and walked down to the ring.  Cole said Lesnar is there tonight, and Lawler asked why he isn't out then.

Heyman and Triple H got into a war of words, which had HHH calling Lesnar a little bully and a coward.  Heyman brought up Triple H's kids and his wife, which enraged Triple H.  Stephanie McMahon arrived out to a big pop and got into Heyman's face, eventually slapping him hard.  Heyman left to the apron and got a mic after recomposing himself.  He screamed "you want it, you want to see your husband get hurt, you got it!!"  Triple H got riled up and in Heyman's face, flexing and yelling.

After a moment, Heyman applauded Stephanie mockingly.  He started talking about how she learned from her daddy to always get what she wants.  Heyman brought up the kids again, and this time Stephanie pounced on  him.  Brock Lesnar's music hit and out came Brock this time.  Triple H helped Stephanie out of the ring.  Lesnar rushed at him, ramming HHH into the corner multiple times.  However as they went to the other corner, Triple H kicked Lesnar in the gut and got control.  Eventually, HHH tossed Lesnar out of the ring.  Lesnar got on the ramp with Heyman and stared at HHH.  Lesnar smirked then they walked backstage.

They had a vote earlier on what classic matchup fans would most want to see presented on WWE 13.  The winning choice was Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. John Cena.  They showed some of the highlights of the video game match played out, with both wrestlers hitting their trademark moves, but it appeared Cena got the win after the AA.

They cut to a video package of the Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon feud that really helped define Raw over the years.  They had other wrestlers and celebs talking about it including John Cena, Stephanie McMahon, and Maria Menounous.  Various footage was shown from Stone Cold terrorizing Vince McMahon over the years.

Santino Marella and Hornswoggle came out with WWE pillow buddies to hand out to kids in the crowd.  Howard Finkley was announced as special guest announcer for the next match.  He introduced the "One Man Band" Heath Slater.  Slater talked about how he's now ready to defeat whatever legend they have backstage.  Out came Lita to his surprise, making Slater laugh about it.

Lita defeated Heath Slater by pinfall.  Lita came to the ring and Slater laughed about it saying "hunny I accept your challenge."  Lita got on the mic and said she hired a little protection for herself tonight.  The APA's music hit and out came Bradshaw and JBL of APA.  Slater took off out of the ring and headed up the ramp.  However, as he got up the ramp, Road Warrior Animal's theme music hit.  Out from backstage came all of the legends Slater has faced over the past weeks: Bob Backlund, Doink the Clown, Vader, Psycho Sid, Roddy Piper, Rikishi and Animal.  They formed a line up on stage and then rushed after Slater, tossing him into the ring for Lita.  She hit a DDT on Slater, then did her patented Moonsault finisher on him off the top rope.  Post match all the legends celebrated in the ring, with Ron Simmons looking at Slater for a bit and around, then finally saying "Damn!"

Daniel Bryan was interviewed backstage and started going off about Charlie Sheen calling him an Oompa Loompa.  Bryan said if Charlie Sheen were standing right where he's standing right now, he'd slap the yes out of him faster than he could say "winning."

Lawler announced that WWE's 100 millionth social media follower Alex Guerrero, Jr. was in attendance tonight.  Cole interviewed him ringside, with Alex saying he's having a better night than Daniel Bryan and he's looking forward to 1000 more episodes of Raw.  Cole said he can go home now because he got his lifelong dream fulfilled of being interviewed by Cole.

Lawler fed to a video package of the "famous lines" that were created on Raw over the years.  That included Mick Foley, Jericho, DX, Vickie, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Booker T, Daniel Bryan, Funaki, Zack Ryder, Ric Flair, Vince McMahon and The Rock.

Zack Ryder was backstage with Mean Gene and John Cena.  He said Mean Gene is the one behind GTV, Gene TV.  Okerlund and Cena looked puzzled by it all.  The Rock showed up and Ryder/Okerlund walked off.  Rock told Cena the same thing he told Punk, and Cena said he'll be cashing in tonight to win the WWE title so he can have another shot at "the Great One."  Rock told Cena he's looking forward to that, good luck out there.

Kane made his way to the ring for a match.  Before he could do his fire from the ringposts, Jinder Mahal's music hit and Mahal came out with a mic in hand.  He was joined by Hunico, Camacho, Drew McIntyre, Curt Hawkins, and Tyler Reks.  They surrounded Kane on the ring apron sides.  However, all of a sudden the lights went out and The Undertaker's bells sounded.  Taker made his way to the ring as the fans went into a frenzy.  Taker got in the ring and stared over at Kane before removing his hood and cloak.  The six guys on the outside tried to stage an attack but all got knocked away.  Taker and Kane hit double chokeslams and then double Tombstones before posing for the crowd.  The fans chanted "This is Awesome!"

Cole fed to video about an anti-bullying campaign program held earlier in the day for kids in St. Louis featuring Sheamus, Eve and Stephanie McMahon.

Charlie Sheen promised to shake Daniel Bryan hard, and next time Daniel's in LA he's willing to meet him, whether it's in a ring, his house, or wherever.  Lawler asked Sheen if he's challenging Bryan to a match, and Sheen said he'll let "goat face" figure it out for himself.

Cole said they'll be in Los Angeles on August 19th for SummerSlam, so maybe Sheen will be there.

They cut to highlights from the end segment from Raw last week featuring John Cena saying he'd cash in against Punk on Raw 1000 for the WWE championship.  John Cena made his way to the ring with the briefcase to cash in for the title match.  Out came CM Punk next.  Cole revealed the results of their earlier poll about who the fans voted they want to see The Rock face at the Royal Rumble.  Punk won with 55% of the votes with Cena getting 35%.  Raw went to commercial ahead of the main event match.

John Cena defeated CM Punk due to disqualification when Big Show interfered.  CM Punk is still WWE champion.  Late during the match, Big Show came to the ring.  With the referee knocked out already, he hit Cena with the WMD KO punch to knock him out.  Punk looked around, confused about what to do.  He finally went out and got the ref to come to and brought him into the ring.  Punk thought about it a bit but then rushed to cover Cena.  He got two, but Cena got his arm up just in time.  The match continued with Cena managing to get Punk into the STF.  However, Show got back in the ring and hammered Cena from behind, causing the DQ.  That makes Cena one of the first to cash in his MITB briefcase and not win the WWE title.

Post-match, Big Show attacked Cena more.  CM Punk got out of the ring.  Suddenly, The Rock's theme music hit and he rushed to the ring for the save.  Rock hit several big moves on Show including a Spine Buster.  However, the big shock came as CM Punk attacked Rock in the ring, leaving Rock layed out on the mat.  Punk put the WWE title belt on his shoulder and slowly walked up the ramp.  Cole and Lawler acted shocked as Raw was ending.

Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman Returning to WWE?

There were recent reports that former WWE superstar, Sean "X-Pac" Waltman was backstage at Monday Night Raw.  This headline grabbed many fans' attention, as they believed it might be possible that X-Pac woudl be returning to the WWE.

However, it appears he was only at the show to do a special two-hour interview piece.  That segment will be a part of a new 15-episode WWE Network series.  It will focus on the Monday Night Wars and have VH1 series type feel.  This was reported several days ago and seems to squash the rumors of a possible return for Waltman to his former stomping ground.

Still, it would be interesting to see X-Pac get a return role to WWE.  If the creative team had sense, they could involve him in the storyline with Triple H and Kevin Nash.  In fact it would be a perfect return to align X-Pac with Nash, possibly as a corner manager, coming to the ring for Nash's fights.

So in a potential spoiler, maybe, just maybe we see X-Pac show up to interfere in the Sledgehammer ladder match.  Otherwise, we have to wait until 2012 for the possibility of seeing him with WWE - Network.

Extra note: It's been reported that Sean Waltman will be hosting a 2012 Royal Rumble pre-party in St. Louis featuring "Hurricane" Shane Helms.  Tickets and general info are available at MyWrestlingParty.com.

Raw Preview 02.08.10

Last week on Raw, Bret "the Hitman" Hart made a return to the ring once again, but this time he was all about confronting WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. The Hitman made his statement in the ring, then called Vince down for the confrontation. After an exchange of words, Vince told Bret he considers him to be "pathetic" and that Stu Hart won't be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, because he doesn't deserve it. This upset Hitman to the point of attacking Mr. McMahon, and just as he was about to lock a sharpshooter in, the Animal Batista rushed into the ring. Batista gave Bret a beatdown, then held him back so Vince could berate the former WWE champ, and spit in his face. Coming to Bret's rescue was John Cena, in a series of events fans watching the show on TV did not see. However, Cena and Bret's victory celebration was shortlived as Batista rushed back into the ring and attacked Cena. After The Animal savagely attacked Cena around the outside of the ring, he brought a piece of the steel steps into the ring to deliver a lethal Batista Bomb, leaving Cena down. What will John Cena have to say regarding last week's attack by Batista? What will be next between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon?

Also on tonight's show, there will be a Triple Threat tag team title match in Louisiana. Involved in tonight's match will be the unified champions, Shawn Michaels and Triple H of D-Generation X as they defend against fellow Raw team, the Big Show & The Miz, as well as the team of CM Punk and Luke Gallows. It appears that after last week's Elimination Chamber qualifying matches, Shawn Michaels may still be hellbent on getting his rematch with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26. Some have speculated that this may be the start of a breakdown between Michaels and HHH's tag team partnership. Meanwhile, Miz and Big Show have vowed to claim all the gold on Raw, while CM Punk wants to bring the unified titles to his StraightEdge Society. Which of these teams will leave Raw as the undisputed tag team champs?

Tonight's show will be hosted by NASCAR star, Carl Edwards. Edwards is the third NASCAR driver to host the show, following in the footsteps of two drivers who hosted Raw not long ago. Edwards is also a good friend of John Cena, as the two were paired up for the ABC reality show, "Fast Cars and Superstars – The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race". After last week's carnage in the ring suffered by Cena, will Edwards grant Cena a special match on the show? What will Edwards bring to the latest episode of Raw?

Smackdown Preview 01.29.10

With the Royal Rumble just a few days away, the superstars of Smackdown will look to prepare themselves for this Sunday's huge Pay-Per-View. Scheduled to appear on the show are D-Generation X as they will look to defend their unified tag team championships against the team of Luke Gallows and his leader, CM Punk of the Straightedge Society. In week's past, Punk and Gallows have inducted WWE Universe members into their society, using a Straightedge pledge and a hair shaving as symbols of transformation. Tonight, Punk and Gallows will look to add the tag team titles to their society along with their faithful recruits. Will they be able to defeat DX and bring the titles to the Straightedge Society? Or will D-Generation X continue to reign supreme as tag team champions?

Also on tonight's show, Drew McIntyre will be defending his Intercontinental title in a No disqualification match against former champion, John Morrison. In week's past, these two have feuded with varying results in their encounters, mostly with McIntyre coming away with a cheap win to retain his title. With no DQ's in tonight's match anything is possible. Morrison now will seek to regain his Intercontinental title from the man he continues to mock. Meanwhile, McIntyre continues to claim he is the next generation of top WWE Superstar, and future Heavyweight champion. Will McIntyre be able to keep his title against Morrison, or will the former champion regain the gold?

And finally, Rey Mysterio continues to try to prove to himself and the WWE Universe that he does not fear the Deadman, The Undertaker. During last week's show, Mysterio called out the Phenom to look him in the eyes and let him know he wasn't intimidated. Undertaker said he admired the "little man's" bold words and bravery, but told him he will fall just like the rest have into the grave. Mysterio yelled out as the Undertaker made his way back up the ramp, but soon found himself victim of a sneak attack by The Animal Batista. It appears Batista is looking to send a message before the Rumble, just as Mysterio was trying to. Will these Superstars cross paths again on tonight's episode of Smackdown? Will the Undertaker make his presence felt?

Raw Preview 01.11.10

Tonight's Raw will bring yet another familiar former face back into the WWE, when special guest host "Iron" Mike Tyson will come to Raw to manage the show. This will mark the third pro boxer to step onto Raw as host, when Tyson follows in the footsteps of Ricky Patton and Floyd Money Mayweather. WWE Universe fans may remember seeing Mike Tyson as part of a WWE storyline several years ago involving Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Tyson served as the special guest referee for the Shawn Michaels vs. Stone Cold title match, and appeared to be on the side of D-Generation X. However, Tyson changed sides in the end and helped make the pinfall count in favor of Stone Cold Steve Austin winning the WWE title at Wrestlemania XIV. Tyson continues to be a huge star, as he was recently featured in a role in the comedy movie "The Hangover" and is now part of a documentary called TYSON available on DVD and Blu-ray disc. What will Iron Mike have in store for the superstars of the WWE Raw roster?

Last week's historic episode of Monday Night Raw saw the return of Bret "The Hitman" Hart, who came to bury the hatchet with two individuals from his past. Hart opened the show by calling out Shawn Michaels to the ring, and after a talk the two wrestlers ended up shaking hands and hugging to end their 12-year period of silence. Later in the show, with Vince McMahon in the ring, Bret Hart took it upon himself to head down and try to bury the hatchet again. It seemed as if Vince McMahon was all for it, with the two icons in wrestling raising their arms together. However, as Bret was doing his trademark ring poses, Vince McMahon gave him a swift kick to the groin, sending the Hitman down to the mat. McMahon walked up the ramp, and Hitman looked disgustedly out at the WWE Chairman. Will more come out of this incident from last week's episode of Raw?

Last week also saw several title implications which may carry over into tonight's show and the Royal Rumble. The WWE Divas are currently seeking a new Divas champion due to Melina's unfortunate injury. So far, Maryse and Gail Kim have advanced to round 2, with more superstars to compete on tonight's program and WWE Superstars. Also, MVP won a tough Fatal Fourway competition which involved his good friend Mark Henry, Carlito and Jack Swagger. The victory gives MVP the #1 Contender spot for the United States title, a championship he's held twice. D-Generation X was successful in yet another title defense against Chris Jericho and Big Show, sending Jericho off Raw for good. And a continually power-hungry WWE Champion Sheamus, continues to dispose of opponents and has informed John Cena he is done giving him title opportunities. What will be next in each of these title scenarios as Raw unfolds?

Raw Preview 12.28.09

Tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw in Hartford, Connecticut will feature a bigtime championship match for the last WWE Raw of 2009. It'll be an all-out war as John Cena gets his rematch with the brand new WWE Champion, Sheamus, inside the squared circle. This time it'll be a regular one-on-one contest, with no extra stipulations and no tables to crash through. Sheamus will have to prove he's as tough as he claims to be when he puts up the WWE Title. A hungry John Cena will look to regain the title as we head into 2010. Cena's overcome big odds before, but can he overcome the fierce nature of the Celtic Warrior? Can Sheamus back up all his talk as a powerful WWE champion, and end Cena's chances at reclaiming the gold?

Last week was definitely an up and down roller coaster ride for the Unified Tag team champions, D-Generation X. They were riding high as the recently crowned champs coming out of TLC after defeating JeriShow on a quick rematch, only to find themselves taken to "Little People's Court" by Hornswoggle. In the "under the ring" court, they were found guilty of their crimes for assaulting the little guy in the ring and backstage. Due to all of this, DX decided to get into the holiday spirit and welcomed Hornswoggle as their official DX mascot. They enlisted his services to close out the Christmas edition of WWE Raw, and then did the same on Christmas night's Smackdown show after a hard fought title defense against The Hart Dynasty. It appears things are going Shawn Michaels' and Triple H's way as they head towards 2010. Who will be the next pair of challengers to try to dethrone the tag champs?

Tonight's final Raw of 2009 will be hosted by rapper/producer, Timbaland. Timbaland's worked with plenty of big names in the music industry, including former Raw guest host, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and many more. He's also a big fan of World Wrestling Entertainment, and recruited several WWE divas to appear in his music video a few years ago. Timbaland's been seen backstage before at WWE events or in the crowd, but has never actually hosted the show. He is hosting the show with a brand new album out, Shock Value II ($5.00 MP3 album), which features the hottest artists including Miley Cyrus, Jet, Katy Perry and Drake. But will Timbaland shock the WWE Universe? What sorts of craziness will the music producer and WWE fanatic have in store for Raw as the superstars look to close out 2009 with a bang?

Catch Raw tonight at 9PM EST on USA for all the action and excitement!

2009 Royal Rumble - Early Analysis

So who will win the Royal Rumble 2009 edition? It's still too early to really predict a winner for the 2009 Royal Rumble since the competitors for the match have yet to be announced. We can most likely draw up a short list of potential winners, based on common sense though. We know that it's mostly comprised of Raw and Smackdown competitors, since it seems ECW is doing its own title thing, the ECW Homecoming. The Royal Rumble winner usually chooses whether they want to compete for the WWE title or World Championship. Last year's Rumble winner, Randy Orton, ended up choosing to go against Triple H, and lost at Wrestlemania 25.

First, let's take a look at the WWE title picture. The Celtic Warrior Sheamus holds the WWE title after becoming the quickest champ in WWE history. Granted he won by shoving Cena down off the corner of the ring through a table. It's not exactly a clean win, nor is it cheap either. However, it's hard to see Sheamus holding onto the title until Wrestlemania 26, where the Rumble winner would challenge him for it. So we might assume that Cena is champion by Wrestlemania, or maybe someone new, such as Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, Big Show, HHH or Shawn Michaels.

Then there's the World Heavyweight title, currently held by Undertaker. He's been feuding with Batista, but as of last night's Smackdown title match against Rey Mysterio, it appears we may get a Triple Threat match for the title, at the Rumble. That doesn't leave us too much in terms of competitors from Smackdown it seems. Drew McIntyre is Intercontinental champion. John Morrison will face him at the Rumble. We're left with maybe CM Punk or Chris Jericho. I'd speculate on Chris Jericho as the biggest potential winner of the Rumble from Smackdown this year. In fact, I don't believe Jericho's accomplished a Rumble victory yet, but someone can correct me if wrong.

Another thought lingering is the always possible "surprise return" by a guy we haven't seen from some time. A couple years ago, it was John Cena who returned in surprise fashion at MSG in NYC to win the Royal Rumble. If it were anyone this year, I'd go with Edge to make a surprise return. Jeff Hardy's a possibility, but that's tough to say after the recent headlines he made with a drug arrest. WWE seems to favor him still by pushing his DVD's and giving him a Slammy award, so it's not out of the question.

It seems we are really left with a short list of possible winners. It will depend on whether or not DX is defending their titles at the Rumble, or entered in the match. Five potential winners as of now: Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, Big Show, Chris Jericho, CM Punk with Edge as a longshot surprise winner.

Feel free to leave your thoughts on who could win this year's 2009 Royal Rumble!

Smackdown Recap 12.25.09

Smackdown recap from Orlando, FL:

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker were on hand to welcome viewers to the Christmas night edition of Smackdown. On tonight's show, The Undertaker must defend the World Heavyweight title against Rey Mysterio. Also, D-Generation X will invade Smackdown as they put their tag titles on the line versus The Hart Dynasty.

Vickie Guerrero was on camera backstage to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Smackdown GM Teddy Long was also there with her. Vickie said she invited her incredible boss over for a nice holiday meal. Long brought the egg nog and told Vickie he added a little "somethin somethin". Vickie showed how she makes mashed potatoes, by dumping all her peeled potatoes into the large pot and then a huge pile of sticks of butter. Teddy asked if she was trying to give him another heart attack. Vickie demonstrated her cooked turkey, with Teddy rushing her along saying they need to move along. Vickie showed off her stuffing with Teddy saying it looked like dog food. Vickie went to get her cranberry sauce from the refrigerator and as she turned she was shocked. Hornswoggle was up on the table and picked up the entire turkey to start gnawing on it. Vickie screamed at Teddy who apologized then said "dinner is served, Holla Holla Holla!"

R-Truth, Finlay, Matt Hardy & John Morrison vs. CM Punk, Luke Gallows, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

R-Truth lead his team to the ring as he performed the "What's Up" rap song to get everyone hyped for the match. Luke Gallows carried CM Punk's Slammy trophy to the ring.

The heels kept working on Matt Hardy, preventing him from making the tag. He finally made the hot tag to John Morrison, just as McIntyre dove for a tag to CM Punk. Morrison was on fire as he took it to Punk. Punk got tagged by McIntyre who came right in to take a pounding from Morrison. Ziggler tagged in, and Morrison continued his momentum. Morrison had a pinfall but McIntyre came in to break it up. Finlay rushed in and hit the Celtic Cross on McIntyre. CM Punk came in to do the GTS on Finlay. R-Truth came in and hit his spinning scissor kick on Punk. Dolph Ziggler ran at Truth who avoided him, allowing Matt Hardy to hit a Side Effect on Ziggler. The big Luke Gallows came in and clotheslined Hardy and Truth down, and both rolled to the outside. Morrison did a flying chuck kick from the ropes on Gallows, leaving just Ziggler & Morrison in the ring.

In the closing moments, John Morrison took control and won the match by hitting Starship Pain on Dolph Ziggler. Morrison will face McIntyre for the Intercontinental title at the 2009 Royal Rumble.

Winners: R-Truth, Finlay, Matt Hardy & John Morrison win via pinfall over CM Punk, Luke Gallows, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre.

Chris Jericho was in the ring wearing a suite and tie to cut a promo speech. He discussed how if he and Show were still together they'd be the #1 Contenders, not the Hart Dynasty. He was interrupted as The Hart Dynasty were lead to the ring by Natalya. Jericho told the Hart Dynasty to calm down because he trained in the Hart dungeon himself with Stu Hart, so he respects where they came from. Jericho said he views Hart Dynasty as a bunch of punks just like when they were younger. Jericho asked how they feel they've earned a title shot of any kind. DH Smith said they don't run from controversy or complain, they face it head on. Tyson Kidd said Jericho might think he's the best, but they are the best there is and ever will be, period. Jericho began to chastise them when suddenly DX's music hit and the tag champs appeared on the Titantron.

HHH said it's supposed to be a DX Christmas but the guys in the ring are really killing the mood. Triple H said they have some gifts for everyone. First up he told Jericho they got him a ticket off Raw. But they also got him a "Tickle me Big Show" for Chris Jericho, which farts when you tickle it. Michaels said for the Hart Dynasty they got them a one way ticket back to Canada, where they can enjoy things like Hockey and bears. Jericho told the Hart Dynasty that's what DX is all about, doing immature jokes and pandering to the audience. Jericho yelled at the Harts that tonight they really need to make an impact. Jericho turned his back on the Harts to yell at DX that he will be back to regain their tag titles once again. The Hart Dynasty took the opportunity to lay out Jericho with their Hart Attack doubleteam finisher.

They replayed highlights of what happened between Jericho & The Hart Dynasty, then reminded fans they will compete with DX for the tag titles later tonight.

Backstage, Michelle McCool and Layla walked up to Mickie James. Michelle and Layla said they were there to apologize to her since it's Christmas and all. Layla said they got her a gift and handed Mickie something then walked off. Mickie opened it to look at it. Michelle and Layla returned and yelled "it's a Jenny Craig gift certificate!" They made several comments about Piggy James, then wished her a Merry Christmas, leaving Mickie looking dejected.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham discussed the Chairs match between Undertaker and Batista back at TLC PPV. They questioned the condition of Undertaker following that match, then showed still images from the match. Batista originally had the victory, but it was overturned due to his low blow on Taker. Undertaker bashed Batista with a chair upon his return to the ring, then Tombstoned him on a steel chair in the ring. Next, they showed highlights from Rey Mysterio vs Batista for the #1 Contender Spot last week. Mysterio won with a rollup pin when Batista was too lazy on his moves.

Mysterio was praying backstage in the locker room. Josh Matthews came in and asked Mysterio about his chances for defeating Undertaker later on tonight. Mysterio discussed how awesome it felt to defeat Batista last week. He said tonight he's not going to take Undertaker lightly. Mysterio said he'd be crazy to not take Undertaker seriously, but this is the time of year when miracles happen. Mysterio said the World Heavyweight title would be the present of a lifetime.

After a "WWE Did You Know?" factoid, it was time for the World Heavyweight title match. Mysterio was introduced first to a decent pop from the crowd. Undertaker made his traditional entrance next.

Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker
World Heavyweight Title match

After both men arrived to the ring, both wrestlers were introduced and the ref held up the World Championship belt. Taker knocked Mysterio down early with a right hand, then threw him out through the ropes. He went out and set Rey on the side apron for a leg drop, but Mysterio pulled himself into the ring to avoid it. Rey then tried to jump off the apron, but Taker caught him. Taker prepared to ram Rey into the ringpost, but Rey slid off and shoved Taker into it instead, then got back in the ring to do a running suicide dive. Smackdown took a commercial break with both men down.

Back to the show, Taker was able to take Mysterio down in the ring. Rey was able to avoid Undertaker on one move, causing Taker to fall out over the top rope. From there, Mystero hit a sliding dropkick, but then tried to jump on Taker for a Hurricanrana. Taker caught him in it and flung him against the crowd barrier. Undertaker regained control in the ring and started picking Rey apart.

Taker prepared for the Last Ride, but Rey jumped off behind Taker, then did a Springboard off the top rope to take Taker down with a shoulder tackle. Mysterio with a Springboard splash but Taker escaped the pinfall. Rey avoided the Chokeslam and went for a series of moves, ending up getting kicked down from mid-air by Taker. Taker hit the Chokeslam and was ready for the pin, but suddenly Batista attacked Undertaker in the ring. Taker began to punch back, until Batista hit a Spinebuster on Taker leaving him down.

Things ended up getting crazy as Rey Mysterio managed escape Undertaker's Chokeslam to deliver a 619 on both Undertaker and Batista. Rey did a Springboard Hurricanrana onto Batista leaving both men down as he ran up the ramp.

Winner: Match ended in disqualification after Batista interfered.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham introduced a video of the WWE Tribute to the Troops show.

Cryme Tyme went up to a guy dressed as Santa backstage. The man was complaining about how tough it was to play Santa Claus and have kids all over him asking for stuff. He told them he didn't hand out any gifts to kids and took the good stuff all for himself. Cryme Tyme took exception to that, and Shad gave the guy a big boot. They took off with his bag of goodies saying it was time to get Christmas poppin'.

Bryce Andrews & Pat Buck vs. Cryme Tyme

Cryme Tyme came down the ramp passing out gifts from the Santa's bag they took from the fake Santa backstage. JTG dominated for a bit before tagging in Shad. Shad took it to the opponents, knocking one off the apron, then doing a Money Money Yeah Yeah elbow drop. The other guy came back into the ring, and Shad pressed him overhead then tossed him over the ropes. Shad hoisted the opponent up so JTG could tag in and do a neckbreaker from the corner for the win.

After the match, Cryme Tyme handed out more gifts to the crowd.

Winners: Cryme Tyme wins via pinfall over Bryce Andrews & Pat Buck.

Vickie and Teddy were shown backstage arguing on camera about what happened earlier. Vickie threatened to call Mr. McMahon, and Teddy begged her not to. Vickie showed off an apple pie she made. Teddy made a comment and Vickie got miffed, threatening to hit him in the face with it. Teddy picked up a cream pie he made, and both of them were about to pie each other but stopped. Vickie continued her speech to the camera about making pie, with Hornswoggle sneaking in again. Teddy handed his pie to Hornswoggle. Teddy told Vickie to turn around, and Hornswoggle threw the pie in her face. Teddy Long told the camera the moral of the story is always save room for dessert. Hornswoggle tapped Teddy, and as Teddy turned he got hit with a pie in the face also. Horney got on the table and dipped his face in the egg nog to get a drink.

Mickie James & Maria vs. Beth Phoenix & Layla

Michelle McCool joined Grisham and Striker for ringside commentary. Michelle made insulting remarks about Maria and Mickie, saying Mickie needs to burn more calories and that Maria hasn't done anything to earn the Diva of the Year Slammy.

The heels beat on Maria a bit as the weak link. Maria managed to escape and make a tag to Mickie. Mickie James was in control of things as she flung Layla around the ring, then kicked and knocked Beth Phoenix off the apron. Layla went for a kick move on Layla, and Mickie dodged it then hit a roundhouse kick of her own to score the winning pin.

Mickie immediately rushed outside the ring to go after Michelle McCool who got up and shoved her chair at her. Beth Phoenix came out and attacked Mickie, knocking her down from behind. However, Mickie was right back up and pounding away on Beth. Beth got the upperhand and tossed Mickie into the announcers table. Michelle knelt down and told Mickie "I told you not to mess with us". Michelle then noticed the Glamazon standing there glaring down towards her, so McCool got up and walked away quickly.

Winners: Mickie James & Maria win via pinfall over Beth Phoenx & Layla.

The Hart Dynasty vs. D-Generation X
Unified Tag Team title match

DH Smith took down HHH at one point, then tagged in Kidd. Kidd rushed at HHH but was quickly taken down to the mat. Both men struggled to get up, with HHH able to make the hot tag to HBK. Kidd was stuck in the ring, as Michaels came in with momentum. HBK hit a huge slam on Kidd then climbed onto the corner. DH Smith rushed over to intervene, and ended up getting kicked by HBK. That brief moment of time allowed Kidd to roll away on HBK's attempted elbow drop. Kidd hit a Springboard Blockbuster off the top rope for a near fall. Smith tagged back in for more punishment on HBK. After Smith beat on HBK outside the ring some, Natalya got involved again by slapping HBK on the apron as the ref's back was turned.

The heels continued to take it to Shawn Michaels. At one point, Tyson Kidd went for a Springboard move from the top rope, but got caught by HBK who hit the Atomic Drop. Both guys were down, but Michaels managed a hot tag to HHH, while Kidd tagged in Smith. HHH knocked Kidd off the side apron, then did a Spinebuster on Smith. He had a near fall, and then hit another Spinebuster on Kidd who came in to attack. HHH set up the Pedigree on Smith, but wound up getting hit by the Hart Attack. Michaels came in to save his partner. Kidd came in and knocked Michaels outside, but then missed as he leapt over the ropes at him. Back in the ring, Smith picked up HHH and went for a powerslam move. HHH avoided it, with Smith trying to ram him to the corner where HBK was. HBK hit Sweet Chin music on Smith as HHH ducked. From there, a Pedigree from HHH won the match.

Winners: D-Generation X wins via pinfall over The Hart Dynasty.

Hornswoggle's music hit and he came out from under the ring with three Santa hats. Horney got in the ring and tossed hats to HBK and HHH so they could all celebrate as Santas. Michaels got on the mic and said Hornswoggle's got two words for ya. Horney yelled "Merry Christmas!" and then they did the DX crotch chops as pyro went off. DX and Horney posed in the ring to close the show out.

Smackdown Preview 12.25.09

Tonight's special Christmas edition of Smackdown will feature a pair of matches that are perfect gifts for members of the WWE Universe! In one match, The Undertaker will put his World Heavyweight Title on the line against the new #1 Contender, Rey Mysterio. Mysterio won the spot last week by defeating his rival Batista in an intense match. Due to Batista's lazyness, Mysterio scored a rollup pinfall to surprise The Animal and win the match. Now, Mysterio heads into the Deadman's yard, the WWE ring, to try to take the ultimate prize, the World Championship! Will Mysterio have what it takes to overcome the force that is the Phenom? Will Batista show up and play the Grinch that steals Christmas?

In the second gift match, D-Generation X will make their second official defense of their Unified tag team titles against the new #1 Contenders, The Hart Dynasty. Last week the Hart's won their match against Jimmy Wang Yang and Slam Master Jay, and promptly after the close of the match, Natalya announced that they will go for the titles on Christmas. DH Smith and Tyson Kidd have cockily pronounced that they will outdo their Hart predecessors, the Hitman and British Bulldog. Will they be able to score a major victory and Christmas gift by winning the tag titles on Christmas? Or will DX show why they are the top tag team of the decade?

Tonight's Smackdown on Christmas night should hold plenty of gifts for WWE viewers. As seen on Raw, several Santas stopped by the show to offer their gifts and words of wisdom. There were also "Santa's helpers" and diva elves in the arena. What will be in store for tonight's special Smackdown?

Watch Smackdown tonight at 9PM EST on MyNetwork TV! Happy Holidays 2009!

Thoughts on Raw, ECW & Royal Rumble 09'

Today we'll take a look at this past week's episode of WWE Raw, ECW & Royal Rumble among other topics. Johnny Damon's hosting job on Raw was a pleasant surprise. Obviously WWE couldn't resist the silly Tiger jokes, and the DX-Hornswoggle thing was a bit much, but overall Damon did a decent job hosting. His delivery wasn't dry like other guest hosts (the NASCAR guys or English boxer), and he set up some good matches, including Cena's rematch for the WWE title next week on Raw.

About that, the speculation is running wild; Will Cena reclaim the title already next week? Apparently John Cena's name is still etched on the belt that Sheamus is hoisting up week after week to brag about. Some question whether or not Cena will become WWE Champ again next week. I think next week's match will be a way to establish Sheamus in some way as the heel champion, by making him win via cheap tactics or a countout, but he'll hold the title. It makes you wonder how long he's going to hold it? Until Wrestlemania 26? That's about 3 months, and I can't see him headlining WM26 against Cena, unless WWE really gets Sheamus to the point he needs to be at. He's just not a big draw, although he's got the Irish fans behind him.

That brings us to the 2009 Royal Rumble. There's a big question mark on who will win that. Maybe Cena if he's not fighting Sheamus for the WWE title there. Maybe Batista or Jericho. Maybe some surprise returning star? It's really a tough call. We'll have a better idea once we see what happens in next week's WWE title match on Raw. Last year's winner, Randy Orton, failed to capture the WWE title at Wrestlemania 25 from HHH. So will this year's winner be a lock to become a WWE Champion? It's going to be interesting.

For the ECW Homecoming we now have four superstars qualified of the eight total. Yoshi Tatsu beat Jack Swagger last night to become #4. He joins Vance Archer, Kane and Ezekiel Jackson. They're going to want the winner of that to make for an exciting ECW title match against Christian at the Royal Rumble. Next week, Matt Hardy and Evan Bourne will be competing for a chance to join the field of eight. I'm assuming somehow that William Regal and Shelton Benjamin will be in the field, but we'll see.

In thinking about the whole "ECW Homecoming" concept, it seems strange that guys of Jack Swagger, Kane and Ezekiel Jackson's caliber (basically anyone in the tournament) would want to come back and compete for a chance at the ECW belt at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View. Wouldn't most superstars prefer to enter the Royal Rumble match and have a shot at the bigger prizes (WWE title or World Heavyweight)? Kane has also been in the Royal Rumble for quite a streak, so is that going to end this year?

Next week's Raw will be hosted by Timbaland, who has a new album to promote in Hartford, Connecticut. It should be a good show though, because the rap musician/producer actually is a WWE fan and has made appearances on WWE shows before.

WWE Superstars will feature Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov battling one-on-one, while Friday's Smackdown features two hot title matches: DX defends the tag titles against the Hart Dynasty, while the Undertaker puts his title on the line against Rey Mysterio, quite a Christmas treat for WWE fans. However, I'm expecting Batista to play the role of Grinch who steals Rey's Christmas...stay tuned.

Raw Recap 12.21.09

Raw Recap from Tampa, FL:

Michael Cole welcomed fans to the show as well as a Happy holiday season. Jerry Lawler chimed in to announce that Hornswoggle takes DX to court on tonight's show. Also tonight, John Cena faces Jack Swagger one-on-one.

Justin Roberts introduced tonight's guest host, 2-time World Champion, Johnny Damon, from the NY Yankees. Damon came out and slapped hands with fans, then did his in-ring talk. Damon said he doesn't know where he'll be in 2010, but it doesn't matter because tonight he hosts Raw. Damon noted it's ok he got some boos, because he won a World Series in Boston and New York. He said he has some secret Santas in the house tonight. Just then, some growling tiger sound effect came on and a blonde female fan came out of the crowd with a golf club chasing a Tiger around into the ring and then back into the crowd. Damon said he didn't sign up for this, then said it's time to start the show with some beautiful divas.

Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim & Melina vs. Alicia Fox, Jillian & Maryse
Santa's Little Helpers match

Each of the divas came out dressed in Santa's helpers costumes.

Towards the end of the match, Kelly Kelly gained momentum against Maryse, throwing her down with a headscissors. She did a leg drop on the back of Maryse's head followed by a pinfall, but Jillian and Alicia came right in to break it up. Melina and Gail rushed in to take both of the heels outside the ring, fighting. Meanwhile, Maryse picked up Kelly Kelly for a slam. The ref's attention was diverted watching two divas fight outside while Maryse had Kelly up for the slam move. Melina came back in to deliver a dropkick which caused Kelly Kelly to topple back onto Maryse.

Winners: Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim & Melina win via pinfall over Jillian, Alicia Fox & Maryse.

Michael Cole said tonight Santa Claus will grant a wish for one lucky WWE Superstar later on. Also up next, Hornswoggle finally gets his day in court when he gets his lawsuit versus DX.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler were back to introduce footage from earlier today of "Little People's Court" where Hornswoggle got his day in court against DX. DX met up in an empty arena, then headed to the ring for their trial. Michaels told HHH they have to go underneath the ring, since that's where Hornswoggle lives. They both crawled under the ring and it was pitch dark. They pulled out a pair of DX glow sticks for light, with HHH saying he got his at the concession stand, and HHH saying his were from Shop Zone.

They found a light switch, and when the lights came on they were in a huge hallway. HHH commented how big it was under the ring. They walked up to a door with a "Little People's Court" sign on it. They walked in to see a little people jury, bailiff and little judge. DX said they weren't going to sit in the chairs because they were too small. The bailiff came over and wacked them both in the back of their legs to make them sit down. Hornswoggle came in next to take a stand next to the judge. Hornswoggle had the bailiff roll his evidence video, Exhibit A, which showed footage of the times DX manhandled and assaulted Hornswoggle. DX looked worried over the footage, saying it wasn't looking good. A voice came on saying we will find out what happens in Little People's Court later on tonight.

Mark Henry, Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton & Legacy

The heels played keep away with Evan Bourne during the latter stages of the match, to prevent a tag and wear him down. Bourne finally mustered up the strength to escape a slam attempt by Dibiase, shove him into the corner and then deliver a high kick to take him down. Both competitors were down on the mat as the ref counted. Bourne and Dibiase both made diving tags to bring in Kofi and Orton.

Kofi came in on fire, chopping Orton down then delivering a high drop kick. Orton whipped him to the corner, but Kofi came back off the corner to knock him down, then hit the Boom Boom leg drop. Legacy came in to break the pinfall up. Mark Henry was in to take out Rhodes to the outside. With Bourne out of the picture, Orton grabbed Kofi with the advantage and tagged Dibiase in. Kofi wisely eluded Dibiase and Orton's attack, to toss Orton out of the ring. Kofi landed a Trouble in Paradise kick on Dibiase to win the match.

Winners: Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry & Evan Bourne win via pinfall over Legacy & Randy Orton.

Backstage, Johnny Damon was standing around talking with The Bella Twins and Eve, with Santa Claus also there. The Bellas congratulated Damon on his World Series title. Eve went to get some more egg nog, and as she was, Carlito showed up. He let Eve know they just happen to be under the mistletoe. Carlito told Eve he had a gift for her, then puckered up for a kiss. Eve turned away in disgust. As Carlito had his eyes closed awaiting a kiss, Chris Masters showed up and took Eve's place. Carlito saw him there and shoved him, so Masters shoved back. The two started arguing, so Santa came over and told the "two maggots" they could get it on in the ring tonight. They pulled down his beard to reveal Sgt. Slaughter. Johnny Damon came over and made the match official. Masters and Carlito walked off, leaving Slaughter and Damon under the mistletoe. Damon told Slaughter "don't even think about it", with Slaughter saying "Don't ask, don't tell".

Jerry Lawler reminded fans that DX is in court still with Hornswoggle awaiting a verdict in their trial.

Raw returned with Little People's Court, with DX awaiting a verdict. DX tried to save face with a speech to the court, but kept making little people references by accident. The judge banged her gavel down to stop them, so Hornswoggle had the bailiff show Exhibit B, which showed DX making Hornswoggle think he was part of DX in the ring. Instead, HHH kicked him in the gut and did a Pedigree, then DX took him out via a DX stretcher. The judge banged her gavel, and Michaels jumped up yelling "Guilty??" Michaels said they're not going to get Horney into DX. Suddenly, all the little people began to throw trash and paper cups at DX. They managed to escape out the door and hold it shut, then finally got out from under the ring. Michaels got pulled back under the ring, so HHH had to yank him out. DX took off running backstage.

John Cena was shown walking backstage on his way out for a match versus Jack Swagger.

WWE Slam of the Week showed highlights from last week's Orton vs Cena match for 2009 Superstar of the Year Slammy. Earlier, Cena promised not to lose another match until he becomes WWE champion. The match saw Orton go for a Punt kick to finish Cena off in the ring. Instead, Cena dodged the kick, picked up Orton for the Attitude Adjustment and won by pinfall. Sheamus came to the ramp with the WWE title in hand to show off to Cena.

John Cena vs. Jack Swagger

Right before commercial break, Cena managed to dump Swagger out of the ring. When Raw returned, Swagger had regained control and had Cena down on the mat with a hold locked in. Cena made a comeback, but as he jumped at Swagger, Cena was caught mid-air and slammed to the mat. Swagger continued his attack. Cena finally escaped Swagger charging at him in the corner. Swagger again grounded Cena with a Sideslam and near fall. Jerry Lawler noted how undefeated is so tough to accomplish in sports these days, but Cena has vowed to do so.

Swagger with another hold on the mat, and Cena got to his feet to power out. Swagger yanked him back down to the mat. John Cena got back to his feet and did a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Swagger caught Cena with a boot to the face in the corner, to gain control yet again. He eventually hit his running splash move from off the corner. After a near fall, Swagger waited for Cena to get up and went for a Gutwrench Powerbomb. Cena countered it and backdropped him.

Cena got Swagger back down to the mat for a Five Knuckle Shuffle. He went for Attitude Adjustment, but Swagger countered it, then hit a Powerslam for a near fall. Cena and Swagger ended up battling on the corner, with Cena shoving Swagger down. He went for the big legdrop but Swagger rolled out of harm's way. Swagger ran across the ring and went for his Splash move, but Cena moved and turned it into the STF. Swagger eventually tapped out.

Winner: John Cena wins via submission over Jack Swagger.

Backstage, Johnny Damon was talking to another Santa Claus. He began talking, and it was the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. MVP came walking in and told the American Dream he wants 2010 to be the year of MVP. MVP asked Santa if he could take on Sheamus tonight, to prove he's worthy of a title shot. MVP pulled Santa's beard down and asked Dream what he was doing dressed as Santa. Dream said he can get MVP the match he wants, then turned to Damon. Damon said it was a homerun idea and booked MVP vs Sheamus. MVP thanked him from one MVP to another.

Chris Masters vs. Carlito

They showed footage from the Slammy Awards when Carlito knocked down Matt Hardy and took the Slammy Matt accepted on his brother's behalf. Chris Masters was nearby and put the Masterlock on Carlito, allowing Hardy to get the trophy back.

Chris Masters was accompanied to the ring by Eve Torres. Masters went for a very early Masterlock, but Carlito rolled under the ropes, then yanked Masters down across the rope. Carlito fought out of the Masterlock two times. Masters finally got one locked on and won the match by submission.

After the victory, Eve came into the ring and pulled mistletoe out of her boot, then kissed Masters on the lips.

Winner: Chris Masters wins via submission over Carlito.

They rolled highlight footage from WWE's 2009 Tribute to the Troops, with a Bon Jovi song as the background music.

Michael Cole and Lawler returned to discuss how interesting tonight's show hosted by Johnny Damon was. Backstage, the Bella Twins were sitting on a chair with the Tiger mascot from earlier, flirting with it. The camera moved over to Santa Claus and Miz talking. The Miz started to call out Santa for not giving him the pants he wanted at 9 years old. Miz said Santa needs to give him a tour bus with a picture with hsi face on it, two hot girlfriends, and the pants he never got at age 9. Santa revealed himself to be Irwin R. Scheister (IRS), and told Miz he needs to pay his back taxes.

Just then, the blond woman from earlier came in with her golf club and saw the Tiger with two more girls, so she chased it out, swinging the club. IRS told Miz to get to his taxes because April 15th is right around the corner. Johnny Damon came back in and said he payed his taxes with IRS commenting "you baseball players are the biggest tax cheats of all!" IRS walked out, and in came Mae Young, saying hello Johnny. It turned out they were under mistletoe, so Mae planted a big smooch on Damon, taking him down to the crowd.

WWE Champion Sheamus made his way to the ring for the next match.

MVP vs. Sheamus

MVP got his non-title match with the champ, to try to prove he was worthy of title contention.

Sheamus manhandled Montell from the get go, dominating him. MVP eventually started a comeback, coming off the ropes to kick Sheamus. After knocking Sheamus to the mat, MVP went for the Ballin Elbow drop. Sheamus got right back up and did his running boot to kick MVP down. Sheamus picked up MVP for the Razor's Edge to toss MVP across the ring and then pinned him.

Winner: Sheamus wins via pinfall over MVP.

Post-match, Sheamus was gloating with the WWE title in the ring, when John Cena came rushing down. Cena slid into the ring and had a mic in hand. Sheamus backed up towards the ropes. Cena reminded the fans and Sheamus he still gets a rematch. Cena tore off his T-shirt, and told Sheamus he wants the rematch right now. Cena taunted Sheamus to come at him, but instead Sheamus ducked out of the ring. Sheamus got back on the apron and looked to be heading into the ring, but jumped down and backed up the ramp instead. Cena pointed at Sheamus and gave him a "You can't see me" sign as Raw went to commercial.

Backstage, Johnny Damon was getting makeup done, when Vince McMahon came in to shake Damon's hand. Vince noticed that Mae Young had kissed him, then told Damon to use sandpaper to get that off his lips. He asked Damon if he wanted to do anything about Cena's challenge to Sheamus. Damon said next week Cena versus Sheamus for the WWE title. Before Vince could leave, Damon asked Vince if there was any truth to Bret Hart hosting Raw. Vince told him that was a Bah Humbug question, then left. Damon turned back to the makeup lady and called Vince a jerk.

Santino Claus vs. The Miz

Santino came out dressed as Santa handing out gifts to fans in the crowd. The Miz instantly pummeled Santino Claus as the bell sounded. Miz began choking him against the middle rope then ran against the ropes to jump on Santino's back. Miz continued to dominate and taunt his opponent, ramming him into the corner. Santino made a comeback doing his dropdown breakdance move, and then a arm toss. Santino went for a punch off the corner, but Miz moved away, then got up for the Skullcrushing Finale to win.

After his victory, Miz grabbed the Santa's bag, stomped on it, then kicked it out of the ring.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Santino Marella.

Cole and Lawler rolled extended highlights of Little People's Court from earlier on when DX was found guilty for their crimes against Hornswoggle.

Backstage, Josh Matthews stopped Big Show and asked for his reaction to tonight's Christmas edition of Raw. Big Show said he's sick of the impostor Santas running around. Show said he's going to the ring to call out the real Santa Claus to grant his wish.

When Raw returned, they hyped next week's Cena vs Sheamus title rematch. Next they launched into the promo movie trailer for The Marine 2, starring Ted Dibiase, out on DVD/Blu-Ray 12/29.

Big Show made his way down to the ring to call out Santa Claus. Show said he's the superstar who is going to get his wish granted by Santa tonight. He told the real Santa to come down to the ring right now and give him what he wants. A Santa Claus came out from backstage, escorted by the Bella Twins dressed as elves.

Santa told Big Show he was a big little boy, but he couldn't let him sit on his lap. Show got down on one knee, for Santa to sit on his knee. Santa asked if Show's been good this year, then asked what he wanted for Christmas. Show said he wants his best friend and tag partner, Chris Jericho, back on Raw. Santa told the crowd to stop booing, if that's what the little boy wants, he should get it. Just then, Hornswoggle's music hit. Hornswoggle came out in DX gear and yanked Santa's beard off to reveal it was Chris Jericho. Hornswoggle gave a DX crotch chop, before scurrying outside the ring and back underneath.

Suddenly, his music came back on and about 6 other little people dressed in DX gear came into the ring challenging Jericho. Jericho took off some of his costume and went at them. Jericho started shoving them down, and Show tossed one out of the ring. They cleared the ring of all the little people but one who hung onto Jericho's leg. Big Show picked him up and did a side slam, then dropped him over the side for refs to grab. Jericho grabbed Hornswsoggle from outside the ring and threw him back in. Horney started up the Sweet Chin Music, stomping his leg down from the corner. Show picked up Hornswoggle for a Chokeslam, but DX' music hit and they rushed down to the ring to take out JeriShow, saving Hornswoggle. HHH said "let's squash him" but Michaels said they couldn't because it's Christmas. Michaels said the little guy's starting to grow on him. HHH finally told Horney he can't be in DX, but for now he can be their official mascot. Hornswoggle got to yell out "Suck it!" and then did the crotch chop to the pyro with DX to close out the holiday edition of Raw.

Raw Preview 12.21.09

Last week's Raw featured the 2009 Slammy Awards show, hosted by guest host Dennis Miller. During the show a variety of awards were given out, with two award winners engaging in a stare-down moment to end the show. The brand new WWE Champion, Sheamus, won early in the night for the 2009 Breakthrough Superstar of the Year. He delivered a serious message to Cena during his acceptance speech, claiming he'll make sure Cena never gets the title back. Meanwhile, Cena was scheduled to compete in a special tournament involving Undertaker, Randy Orton and CM Punk, with the winner being named 2009 Superstar of the Year. Cena defeated Punk, while Orton defeated Undertaker, so the two Raw rivals had the final showdown for the award. Cena managed to pull off the pinfall victory and earned himself the prestigous Slammy trophy. Sheamus made his appearance felt though as he came out to the top of the stage to brag about being WWE Champ. Cena dared him to come get some, but Sheamus held back. What will the next situation be between these two stars on a collision course?

While D-Generation X failed to win a Slammy for Tag Team of the Year, they did bring the unified tag titles back to Raw after TLC PPV. During the Raw show, Chris Jericho invoked his team's rematch clause, allowing himself and Big Show to face DX for the chance to reclaim the gold. DX cleverly got themselves disqualified by shoving the referee down. With that result, HHH let Jericho know that he was out of rematches, and that meant it was time to leave Raw. Various members of Raw, Smackdown and ECW came to the ring dressed in DX gear and escorted the enraged Jericho out of the arena, kicking and screaming the entire way. With that victory, it would seem to be the end of Jericho's tirades and insulting appearances on Raw. TLC, Raw & ECW - Sheamus as new WWE champ

With this past Sunday's 2009 TLC PPV results came several title changes right before the close of 2009. D-Generation X was finally rewarded for their historical power amongst the tag team ranks, when they defeated Chris Jericho and Big Show to become new Undisputed Tag team champs. The newcomer Drew McIntyre continues his push towards superstardom, when he took the Intercontinental title from John Morrison, in cheap heel fashion. But of course the win everyone is talking about came from the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus. He defeated John Cena by shoving him off the ropes, causing Cena to fall through a table. That's all Sheamus had to do to grab the WWE title, and now he's your new champion.

Honestly, I like the move by WWE. Jesse Ventura made the statements back on Raw that the same wrestlers are always in the title picture: Orton, Cena, Jericho, HHH...It was just a continuous cycle. Throw in a Batista brief title reign as well, but for a while it was just those few wrestlers carrying the belt. Not that they aren't historically among the top wrestlers in WWE, but it does get boring. The Sheamus move is somewhat similar to when The Great Khali won the World Heavyweight title in a Battle Royal, after Edge was forced to forfeit. In both instances, neither guy actually pinned someone to become champion. Also, it shows the WWE has faith in its new talent. For a while, I had believed Jack Swagger to be the next WWE title holder, maybe even Kofi Kingston. But Sheamus has the big man look and power, like previous champions (Brock Lesnar, Diesel, Undertaker, Sid Vicious). I actually was thinking Sheamus would head to Smackdown from ECW as the next adversary for Undertaker, but instead he's now made a name on Raw within his short WWE career so far.

The Irish media community is going wild over the news of Sheamus' win. Check out "History is made at WWE TLC" and "Sheamus is new WWE World Champion", for just a few. All in all, that move was somewhat shocking, but a nice change for once. The question will be how long Sheamus keeps that title? Maybe until Royal Rumble? He doesn't quite generate a ton of heat yet, but they can work on that if he keeps ducking Cena on Raw.

Speaking of Raw, on Monday's show we got the lengthy 3-hour 2009 Slammy Awards, hosted by Dennis Miller. Miller's been a favorite of mine for some time, and his routines were funny, but just not meant for the WWE Universe. That's not calling the fans unintelligent, just that Miller has a dry sarcasm that works better in different "arenas". He had some humorous lines while comparing Cena to Obama, or discussing bringing Bret Hart in as the next guest host. Mr. McMahon certainly didn't like that. Anyhow, Raw produced some interesting Slammy winners. Maria was a surprise winner of Diva of the Year, because in previous diva votes, Mickie James won the award. They used that opportunity to have Batista pull a Kanye West interruption during Maria's acceptance speech.

In the main event, John Cena and Randy Orton battled for the right to be called 2009 WWE Superstar of the Year. Cena ended up the winner, so they could have the Newcomer of the Year, and new title holder, Sheamus, come out to brag with his newly acquired gold. The Superstar of the Year must have been close this year with four men in a tournament to decide it, but it made things interesting. Other nominees were CM Punk and Undertaker. Punk lost in extremely quick fashion, not too sure why. They could have had Luke Gallows interfere instead to keep Punk looking credible as a superstar of the year candidate. Undertaker lost by countout. As much as many fans were hoping to see Undertaker vs Cena, I have a feeling that is a Wrestlemania moment waiting to happen. I was also surprised to see an award given to Jeff Hardy. Not that he didn't deserve it for that feat, but based on the legal issues revolving around drugs. Then again, it's not like the USA Today or NY Times ran articles about the Slammy Winners from WWE. Also, the WWE is pushing the new Jeff Hardy DVD via CM Punk's rants, and now the award win.

ECW is now running an interesting tournament called ECW Homecoming, set up by its lovely GM Tiffany. Basically it will be 16 matches, with former ECW roster members being invited to compete. The 8 winners go into a final homecoming, which I'm guessing is a Battle Royal. The winner of that becomes #1 Contender for the ECW title. So far, Kane has defeated Zack Ryder, and in another match, Ezekiel Jackson defeated Vladimir Kozlov (Regal interfered, so it appears Jackson is now on Regal's team). It'll be interesting to see who shows up for the tournament. Some names I'd consider would be Jack Swagger (he'll be there next week), Kofi Kingston, John Morrison, Big Show and The Miz. It's hard to pick an early winner, but a Kofi Kingston-Christian title match would work, and a Kofi Kingston ECW title reign would be another title on his wishlist. He reported in WWE magazine his goal is to hold every WWE title (well except the womens belts). So far Kingston has been US Champ, Intercontinental and Tag team champ. That leaves ECW, WWE and World Heavyweight.

On Tuesday's ECW on SyFy, they also had the Abraham Washington show featuring Diva of the Year, Maria. Abe noted in his opening monologue that he was robbed at the Slammy's of Breakout Star of the Year (Sheamus won), Superstar of the Year, Oh My Moment of the Year, even Tag Team of the Year. He failed to mention that Shaquille O'Neal was robbed as "WWE Raw guest host of the year". Bob Barker was good and the game show environment was cool, but Shaq really riled the crowd up and got into it.

Next week's Raw is hosted by baseball star Johnny Damon of the New York Yankees. No idea how much of a WWE fan he is, but several other athletes or sports involved individuals did a decent job - Shaq, Mark Cuban and Ricky Patton.

And don't forget the next WWE film starring a wrestler is out soon. Ted Dibiase will showcase his acting skills in The Marine 2 available on December 29th, 2009 on DVD, Blu-Ray and as part of a DVD 2 pack featuring The Marine (starring John Cena).

Raw Recap from Corpus Christi, TX:

Tonight's episode of Raw was the special 3 hour presentation of the 2009 Slammy Awards, hosted by comedian/actor and radio talk show host, Dennis Miller.

WWE Raw opened with a video to intro tonight's 3 hour Slammy Awards show, in which the thrilling and exciting moments from WWE the past year will be relived. After the intro piece, they rolled the Raw entrance video by Nickleback.

Michael Cole said tonight the four men for the Superstar of the Year award will square off in a four man tournament. The winner of the tournament will be named 2009 Superstar of the Year. Randy Orton faces Undertaker, while Cena faces CM Punk. Those two winners meet in the finals to determine 2009 Superstar of the Year.

Justin Roberts introduced tonight's Raw guest host, Dennis Miller who came out to the Slammy Awards set on the ramp. Miller took a spot at the podium then went into some standup jokes to mixed reactions. Miller made a joke where they posted up a pic of Nancy Pelosi side-by-side with Vickie Guerrero. Miller also had a pic of DX shown, with George Bush and Dick Cheney's faces plastered on their bodies. Then he had Obama and Cena images up on the screen saying "one of these guys was just put through a table, the other has yet to bring anything to one". Miller discussed USACares.org, his organization he sponsors, and Tribute to the Troops.

Tag Team of the Year Slammy

R-Truth and Jillian Hall came out to present the first Slammys of the night for Best Tag team of the Year. Jillian said she wanted to do a rendition of "Whoomp There it is!" by Tag Team. Truth interrupted Jillian, and said he just changed his song lyrics to "Shut Up" instead of What's up. Tag teams nominated for the Tag team of the year were D-Generation X, Chris Jericho & Big Show, Legacy and The Hart Dynasty.

Jericho arrived out in dark suits. Show held up his award smiling, but Jericho was looking pissed off. Jericho asked if the fans were expecting someone else. Jericho thanked Edge for being cowardly and selfish, getting injured so he could relinquish the tag title. Jericho thanked himself for choosing a dominant partner such as Big Show. Show spoke next saying despite what happened at the PPV last night, they will regain their titles in the near future. Jericho said he is invoking the rematch clause to fight for the titles tonight.

Winners: Chris Jericho & Big Show win Tag Team of the Year Slammy.

The Raw-Slammy commentary team consisted of Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker from Smackdown, who were all on hand for last night's TLC PPV. Cole said Sheamus' win last night was the biggest surprise of 2009 TLC PPV results. In the WWE Table match, Sheamus shoved Cena off the top rope and crashing through the table in the ring to claim the WWE title. Cole said Irishvoice.com site is quoted with the headline of "Sheamus is here to stay". Raw went to its first commercial break of the night.

Raw returned with Cole saying fans can vote at WWE.com for 2009 Diva of the Year Slammy award winner (voting now closed). William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov were in the ring to make a statement. Highlights were shown from ECW on Tuesday where Kozlov and Jackson got into it outside the ring, causing their team to lose via countout in the six man tag match against Christian, Yoshi Tatsu and Shelton.

Regal said tonight he's happy to announce all three men are on the same page now. Regal said he challenged Christian to find 2 other men to team with him to face them in the ring tonight. Christian came out first wearing the ECW belt and holding a mic in hand. Christian was limping down the ramp, so Regal told him to announce his partners now. Christian said he can barely walk but he found 2 guys willing to put their differences aside tonight to annihilate Regal and his men. Kane's pyrotechnics went off, and out came Kane along with Great Khali. All three men headed to the ring for a six man tag match.

Christian, Kane & Great Khali vs. William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov

Christian became the easy target for the heels towards the end of the match as they pounded on him from corner to corner, keeping him from a tag. He finally made the hot tag to Kane who came in to take it to Regal. After a side slam on Regal, he went to the top rope and hit a flying clothesline to take him down for a near fall. Kozlov came in to break up the pin. Ezekiel Jackson came in and leveled Kane with a clothesline. Kozlov made a blind tag as he slapped Jackson's back. Jackson was surprised by it and stared down Kozlov. Kozlov paused a moment before charging at Kane. Kane gave him a big boot then tagged in Khali. Khali delivered a big right hand chop to take down Kozlov for the pinfall. Regal was clearly upset outside the ring, as was Jackson.

Winners: Christian, Kane and The Great Khali win via pinfall over William Regal, Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson.

Breakout Star of the Year Slammy

Dennis Miller was back out to the podium. He introduced ECW GM Tiffany and Smackdown GM Teddy Long, to present Breakout Star of the Year. Nominees were Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Yoshi Tatsu and Abraham Washington from ECW.

Sheamus arrived out to the ramp wearing the WWE Championship belt. He took the Slammy Award trophy and shook Teddy's hand, smirking the whole time. Sheamus began gloating how he beat Cena and put him through a table to take the title. Sheamus named off WWE HOFer's who have never won the title like Steamboat and Paul Orndorf. The crowd chanted "You suck" at Sheamus. Sheamus sent a message out to Cena that he's never getting the title back from him. Sheamus held up both his Slammy and the WWE belt before Raw went to commercial.

Winner: Sheamus wins the 2009 Slammy award for Breakout Star of the Year.

Raw returned with a look at all the nominees for 2009 Superstar of the Year, CM Punk, The Undertaker, John Cena and Randy Orton. The commentators reminded fans of Undertaker vs Orton and John Cena vs CM Punk for the Tournament to determine the award winner.

Kofi Kingston vs. Cody Rhodes

Kofi arrived to the ring with his shoulder bandaged from last night's Punt kick he took from Orton in a loss at TLC.

Kofi began to go on a tear late in the match as he knocked Rhodes down then did the Boom Boom leg drop. Just then, Ted Dibiase rushed into the ring to attack Kingston. Immediately, Evan Bourne ran down to make a save. Legacy retreated out of the ring to the bottom of the ramp. Dennis Miller came out to the podium holding a trophy saying he wins the Slammy award for best announcement of a match formerly ending in DQ but changed to a tag team match. Miller said "Jeremy Piven and Al Sharpton, Suck it! ring the bell!" Kofi and Bourne ran and dove out through the ropes to take out Legacy as Raw went to commercial.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins due to disqualification, match restarted as a tag match.

Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston vs. Legacy

Late in this restarted match, Kofi Kingston escaped Dibiase using a backdrop. Bourne came into the ring on fire to face Rhodes. Bourne with several quick and high-flying moves on Rhodes, then knocked Dibiase off the apron. Bourne did a high flying double knee takedown on Rhodes then tried for a pinfall. Dibiase was in to boot him in the face breaking it up. Bourne sent Dibiase to the outside where Kofi was. As Bourne turned he ducked a clothesline by Rhodes. Rhodes hung onto the ropes, and Bourne tried to rush at him. Rhodes avoided his move and grabbed Bourne, pulled him to center ring and hit his finisher.

Winners: Legacy wins via pinfall over Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston.

Matt Striker said the fight is on for tonight. Chris Jericho invoked the tag team title rematch clause so he and Big Show will face DX for the titles, tonight.

Shocker of the Year Slammy Award

Dennis Miller was back out and said he apologized that he didn't know the format of the show was to just come out and yell "Suck it!" and you're a genius. He introduced Vickie Guerrero and Santino Marella who came out to present the next Slammy for "Shocker of the Year". Up for nomination were Orton sinking to a new low by DDTing Stephanie McMahon, Batista turning against Rey Mysterio, CM Punk retiring Jeff Hardy, and Sheamus slamming Mark Cuban through a table on Raw.

CM Punk was the winner and came out celebrating by throwing his fists in the air. Punk came out and hugged Vickie then yanked the Trophy award from Santino without a handshake. Raw went to a commercial break as Punk was celebrating and kissing the trophy.

Winner: CM Punk wins the Slammy Award for Shocker of the Year.

Raw returned with Punk inside the ring, mic and trophy in hand. Punk thanked himself for the great year he had this year, winning Money in the Bank and the World Heavyweight title twice. Punk said he's also the only man in the WWE with the courage to tell them they're throwing their lives away. Punk said his crowning achievement was getting rid of the "Charismatic enabler" Jeff Hardy from WWE. Punk said he's the only Straight-Edge slammy award winner, and will take his place as 2009 Straightedge Superstar of the Year.

John Cena vs. CM Punk
Superstar of the Year Tournament match #1

The commentators revisited still images from last night's Table match where Sheamus defeated Cena for the WWE title.

Punk used his bulldog move in the latter stages of the match. He tried to wear Cena down on the mat with a hold on his arm/shoulder. Cena powered to his feet and kicked Punk in the gut. Punk got him up for GTS, but he didn't connect. Cena countered to slap on the STF. Punk crawled to the bottom rope, so Cena pulled him back to the center of the ring. Punk quickly tapped out to give Cena the victory.

Cena got on the mic post match with the fans chanting his name. Cena offered his congratulations to Sheamus on winning the WWE title. Cena said he wants to apologize to anyone he let down last night. Cena said sometimes you can be so prepared and still fail, and that's painful. Cena said a man's character is judged by how he deals with a tough defeat. Cena said you pick yourself up, brush yourself off and overcome! Fans went wild, with a few still booing. Cena said some fans may have lost faith in him, and he respects their decision. Cena said tonight he speaks to the fans who still support him. Cena said what happened at TLC will never happen again, and his Road to Wrestlemania starts now. Cena said he won't be and can't be stopped. Cena offered a headline for WWE.com "I will not lose another match until I become WWE Champion again".

Winner: John Cena wins via submission over CM Punk to advance to the Tournament Finals for 2009 Superstar of the Year.

The commentary team reviewed the bracket for the Superstar of the Year tournament. Cena faces the winner of Undertaker vs. Orton in the finals.

2009 Match of the Year Slammy

Dennis Miller introduced HHH to present the award. Nominees were HBK vs Undertaker (WM25), Cena vs Orton (Breaking Point I Quit), Jeff Hardy vs. Edge (Extreme Rules Ladder match), Team Smackdown vs. Team Raw (Bragging Rights). The winning match was HBK vs. Taker. HBK came out to accept the award, dicsussed how much work it took and challenged Taker to a rematch for WM26.

Winner: Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker wins the 2009 Match of the Year Slammy.

Undertaker vs Randy Orton
Superstar of the Year tournament, match #2

It was a good match throughout, with Orton and Taker eventually fighting outside near the ramp. Legacy came down and Taker kept walking towards them to back them up the ramp. It gave enough time for Orton to recover and hit the RKO on Taker outside the ring. The ref's count neared 10, with Orton sliding in the ring at 9 to win it.

After the victory, Legacy tossed Taker in the ring for a beating. Orton was recovering near the corner. Taker sat up on the mat and grabbed Rhodes & Dibiase, then shoved them over the top rope. Orton came at him but ended up getting Chokeslammed.

Winner: Randy Orton wins by countout over Undertaker to advance to the 2009 Superstar of the Year Slammy finals match against John Cena.

2009 Raw Guest Host of Year

Vince McMahon was out to present this award. He said he came up with the idea for guest host (although they said it was Trump's idea before). Nominees were Seth Green, Bob Barker, Shaq and The Osbournes. Bob Barker won it and they showed a pre-recorded video of his acceptance. He thanked WWE for treating him well and a fun time, then added they helped him sell a lot of his new books to help out his charity, so they thank everyone too.

Vince McMahon asked host Dennis Miller who he'd suggest as a good guest host for Raw. Miller said how about Bret "Hitman" Hart, and the fans went wild. Vince wasn't happy with that suggestion and walked backstage.

Winner: Bob Barker wins 2009 Guest Host of Year Slammy.

Dennis Miller was talking on a cellphone backstage when Chris Jericho came in. He thanked Miller for finally being one guest host who shows him proper respect and allowed his request for a tag titles rematch to stand. Miller told Jerich to cut the crap because he seems to think the universe revolves around him. Miller said Jericho's agenda needs to go somewhere besides Raw, so he's allowing DX to get rid of him tonight in the match. Jericho said he'd prove everyone wrong and left the scene.

Chris Jericho & Big Show vs. D-Generation X
Unified Tag titles rematch

Not long into the match, Shawn Michaels got in the ring and got down on all fours behind the ref. Hunter shoved the ref who fell backwards over HBK. THe ref was upset, got up and called for the bell. Match was a DQ in favor of JeriShow with DX keeping the belts. HHH got on a mic and told Jericho that was his one rematch clause shot. He said now it's time for Jericho to leave Raw, and called out a gang of superstars from backstage. Cryme Tyme, Christian, Shelton, Primo, R-Truth, Finlay and Cryme Tyme were all there to make sure Jericho left the ring. Michaels superkicked him down, and then the other guys made sure they escorted Jericho up the ramp and backstage, eventually out of the arena, kicking and screaming the whole way.

Winners: Chris Jericho & Big Show win due to disqualification, DX retains the tag team titles.

2009 Extreme Moment of the Year Slammy

Carlito, Chris Masters & Eve were out to present the next award. Carlito began to talk about the extreme moments in the WWE and how he's been part of many of them. Masters kept making his pec muscles move and Eve was giggling over it. Carlito finally snapped and told Masters to quit it. Then he asked Eve if she can do that with her chest, and she said he'll never find out.

Nominees were: Kofi Kingston doing his leg drop on Orton in the audience at MSG, Big Show tossing Cena into a Spotlight during a WWE title match, Jeff Hardy diving off a tall ladder to Swanton Bomb CM Punk, and Triple H's invasion of Randy Orton's home.

Jeff Hardy's Swanton won it, so Matt Hardy came out to accept. He tried to make a speech but Carlito interrupted. Matt told him to show some respect for his brother's win. Carlito backed away, then came back to deck Hardy, knocking him down. Carlito grabbed the Slammy and accepted it for himself, giving a speech. Masters came over and put the Masterlock on, then Eve pulled the trophy away. Hardy got back up and punched Carlito down, then took the trophy back.

When Raw returned the commentary team hyped up the upcoming DVD & Blu-ray of "The Marine 2" starring Ted Dibiase Jr. A trailer was shown for the plot synopsis which said inspired by true events. The DVD & Blu-ray are out on 12/29/09.

Yoshi Tatsu, Mark Henry & John Morrison vs. The Miz, Zack Ryder & Drew McIntyre

The brand new Intercontinental champ was out to team with Miz and Ryder. Late in the match, Morrison tagged in and tackled McIntyre down to punch away on him. McIntyre eventually got away and made a tag to Ryder. Ryder came in and demanded Yoshi Tatsu, so Morrison made the tag. Yoshi came in and did some quick moves to elude Ryder's attacks. Ryder backed off and did a taunt along with his "Woo Woo Woo", but then ate a roundhouse kick from Yoshi which gave his team the win.

Winners: Yoshi Tatsu, Mark Henry & John Morrison win by pinfall over The Miz, Zack Ryder & Drew McIntyre

The Bellas, Maria, Melina, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James & Gail Kim were shown walking arm in arm backstage, all wearing evening gowns. The presentation of Diva of the Year slammy is next.

7 on 7 Divas Tag match

The Bellas, Maria, Melina, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James & Gail Kim took on Michelle McCool, Layla, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Natalya, Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes. It started off as a bit of a catfight in the ring until the ref broke things up to get it started. Rosa Mendes went right at Mickie James so those were the two starting divas, and really the only ones who fought. Rosa took the early advantage for a bit. She whipped Mickie to the corner and charged at her, but Mickie jumped up and got her in a headscissors then tossed her to the mat. Next up was Mickie's finishing move DDT for the win. No other divas were in the match. After the win, the face divas chased any heel divas out of the ring.

Winners: The Bellas, Maria, Melina, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James & Gail Kim win via pinfall over Michelle McCool, Layla, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Natalya, Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes.

Immediately after the match, Goldust and MVP made their way out to the podium up on the ramp to present 2009 Diva of the Year.

2009 Diva of Year Slammy

Maria was chosen by the fans who voted on WWE.com as 2009 diva of the year. She was shocked by it, as were the commentators. She ran up the ramp slapping hands with fans then thanked everyone on the mic. Batista came out to interrupt her. He said really this is about him tonight, and he should win "Screwjob of the Year" for how he was screwed out of the title last night at TLC. He said he should be up for superstar of the year. Two cops came out to escort him backstage.

Winner: Maria wins the 2009 Diva of the Year Slammy.

2009 "Oh My" Moment of the Year Slammy

Abraham Washington, Tony Atlas & Big Dick Johnson were out to present this one. Atlas kept laughing hysterically and pointing at Johnson who was all oily and gyrating. Abe did a "why me?" looking up to the heavens, then kept talking. At one point, Johnson pulled out some spectacles and put them on so he could deliver a intro speech full of big words.

The nominees were Masters' dancing pectoral muscles, Shawn Michaels Superkick on little girl at his cafeteria job, Michael Cole drunk and puking on Jericho's shoes at Smackdown party, and Santino getting pied on Thanksgiving Raw, then smashing a pie in Vickie Guerrero's face. The winner was the Michael Cole incident. Cole was ecstatic at the win and jumped out of his announcers seat, then hugged his co-commentators, before running up to hug Big Dick Johnson and the other guys. He said this is a new era of commentary, beyond his mentor JR's old slobber knocker style. Cole said now is the time for "Vintage" and the Hook em' Horns Texas commentary style.

On-stage: Dennis Miller came back to the podium and said he needs to "take his freaking eyes out with a power drill" after seeing Johnson. Miller ran down the ramp and handed the "Oh My" Slammy award announcement card to a kid on the front row near the tunnel. Miller discussed the Tribute to the Troops and USA Cares before plugging the main event Superstar of the Year up next.

Backstage, DX was in merchandise mode as HHH discussed all the great holiday gifts from WWE Shop. Michaels pointed out that he had set up a cool WWE Ladder match with ring plastic toy with wrestlers in it. He said he spent a long time putting it together this year so it would be ready for the kids to play with on Christmas. HHH leanded on and it all fell apart. He apologized but HBK was in a shock and had to sit down. HHH asked if he wanted a blanked, but Michaels said he needs use of his arms to reach stuff. Hunter pulled out a DX snuggie with camoflauge theme and Michaels put it on.

After giving Michaels a cup of tea, Hunter plugged the new History of the World Title DVD. They showed HHH vs Michaels during their 2002 match. Hornswoggle came in to the scene to give DX presents. He gave them a WWE Shop gift card and then showed off his new DX Army shirt to them, with his image on it. DX tried to grab Hornswoggle, but he ran away through a cartoon Roadrunner style hole in the wall. HHH started punching at the Snuggie, thinking Hornswoggle was in it, but it was Michaels. HBK was down on the floor as Horney took off. Horney re-entered and put a Santa hat on Michaels' head, then grunted out a Christmas tune to finish the skit.

Next week Raw will be guest hosted by Johnny Damon of the New York Yankees.

Randy Orton came out for the main event match which decides who wins the 2009 Superstar of the year trophy.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Superstar of the Year Tournment Finals

Late in this one, both men were on top of their games. Cena went for his finisher, but Orton blocked and tried the RKO. Cena blocked it and attempted the STF. Orton countered that so Cena got the Attitude Adjustment. HE had a near fall, but Orton grabbed the bottom rope to break it. Orton went to the outside to recover. He was able to catch Cena coming out of the ring and DDT'ed him from the apron into the outside padded floor. He rolled Cena back into the ring for a very close fall with Cena barely kicking out. Orton waited for Cena to get up so he could do a running punt kick. Cena avoided it and hit the Attitude Adjustment in the middle of the ring for the pinfall win.

Winner: John Cena wins via pinfall over Randy Orton to become 2009 Superstar of the Year.

As Cena was celebrating his Slammy match win, Sheamus came out to show off his newly won WWE title. Cena called him down to the ring, but Sheamus didn't oblige. Instead he smirked from up on the ramp displaying the WWE title belt before Raw went off the air.
