The 11.26.09 edition of WWE Superstars aired the night of Thanksgiving 2009 and featured more exciting matches involving the ECW, Raw and Smackdown superstars. On tonight's program, Goldust battles Vladimir Kozlov from ECW, Raw's Santino Marella faces The Miz, and Smackdown's R-Truth looks to show Dolph Ziggler "What's Up" in the ring. Here's the full results and recap for the 11/26/09 WWE Superstars on WGN America.Michael Cole welcomed fans to the Thanksgiving edition of WWE Superstars. Tonight's main event will be from Smackdown with R-Truth facing Dolph Ziggler. The Miz came out to kick off the show with the first match. Cole and Lawler discussed The Miz' great performance at Survivor Series as he was one of the last 3 men remaining for his winning team.
Santino Marella vs. The Miz
The Miz put Santino down in a headlock early, until Santino got up. Miz shoved him so Santino shoved him to the ropes and dropped him in a headlock. Miz stood up but missed on a pair of clotheslines from the ropes. Santino knocked him down then hit several arm drags. The Miz clocked Santino with a left hand to the head then started punching away on him on the mat. Miz connected with a kick to the side of Santino's head for a near fall.Later on, The Miz whipped Santino hard to the corner then clubbed him down for another near fall. Miz started rubbing Marella's face into the mat. Miz tried to throw a solid punch at Santino who blocked it and threw his own shots. Miz still connected on a neckbreaker for another near fall. Miz kicked Santino to the corner then did his running clothesline to knock Santino to the mat. Miz went to the top rope but as he jumped Santino punched him in the gut. Santino gained momentum and threw lefts and rights before dropping Miz to the mat. Santino did his drop down duck breakdance split move to elude Miz' strike. He started to wind up the Cobra to strike Miz, but as he turned Miz kicked Santino then did the Skullcrushing Finale.
Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Santino Marella.
Ask the Divas segment was next. Question 1: "What is your favorite thing about Thanksgiving? Question 2: "Will you be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year?" Divas featured were Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Eve, The Bellas and Melina.
Backstage, Vladimir Kozlov was walking with William Regal trailing behind. Regal looked dejected over what recently happened with Ezekiel Jackson. Next up Kozlov faces Goldust in the ring.
Goldust vs. Vladimir Kozlov
The ECW commentary team was now in the house for this one. Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton discussed what went down with Regal, Kozlov and Jackson on ECW this past Tuesday, showing footage of the one arm slams.Goldust ducked an early clothesline attempt in the corner to come back at Kozlov. From there the Bizarre one used a side headlock but Kozlov shoved him against the ropes then hit him down with a shoulder block. Kozlov went to clothesline Goldust out of the ring but Goldust ducked and Kozlov went over the top rope. Goldust jumped out to strike Kozlov, but Kozlov came back. However, Kozlov put Goldust up on his shoulder and ran at the ringpost with Goldust sliding off to shove Kozlov into it. Superstars went to commercial.
Superstars returned with Goldust in control in the ring as he hammered on Kozlov. Vlad came back though and rammed Goldust to one corner then batted him down as he jumped at him from the other corner. Goldust went to the outside and Kozlov ignored the ref's warning to go retrieve him. The match continued as Goldust hit some punches to Vlad's gut, then Kozlov started headbutting him in the chest. A belly-to-belly suplex produced a near fall for Kozlov.
Goldust started to gain momentum after avoiding Kozlov's running kick. He hit a bulldog takedown among other moves, then punched on Kozlov in the corner. Kozlov whipped Goldust to one corner and then did a flying bodypress, but Goldust caught Kozlov walked into the ring and slammed him. After a near fall, Goldust backed up to come off the ropes for an elbow drop. Kozlov put one knee up to catch him, then got up to hit his one arm slam finisher.
Regal got in the ring to celebrate the win with Kozlov, then waited for Goldust to get up a bit. Regal did the running knee trembler to knock Goldust back down to the mat.
Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Goldust.
Still to come tonight, R-Truth battles Dolph Ziggler in the main event.
After the "Did you know?" graphic displayed they rolled a "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect" John Cena promotional video showing how the WWE Champion will not give up ever.
Matt Striker and Todd Grisham introduced the Raw Rebound which showed Jesse Ventura's Breakthrough Battle Royal he set up to determine the new #1 Contender for the WWE Title. A series of matches were held to determine the competitors with MVP, Legacy, R-Truth, Mark Henry, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston and Sheamus all qualified. In the battle royal, it came down to Orton, Kingston and Sheamus. Kofi eliminated Orton over the ropes, right before Sheamus rushed over to clothesline Kofi out of the ring. Sheamus won the match and later faced Cena in the ring for the official TLC WWE Title match contract signing. Sheamus demanded that Cena stand up to face him since he was #1 contender. Cena told Sheamus he better be ready to go to war. From there, Jesse Ventura started to talk about a conspiracy to keep a guy like Cena the WWE Champ. Cena started to walk towards Jesse and then was given a big boot from Sheamus. Sheamus slammed Cena through the table right before Jesse Ventura announced they will compete in a Tables match.
Striker and Grisham ran down the three matches scheduled for the 2009 TLC PPV so far including Cena vs Sheamus, DX vs JeriShow and Christian vs. Shelton Benjamin.
R-Truth came out from backstage rapping to his "What's Up?" theme music and got the crowd hyped for the main event.
R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler
Late in the match, Truth was in control as he yelled "What's up?" and kicked Ziggler in the gut. He went for a suplex which he turned into a suplex-stunner. After rolling Ziggler over for a pin, he got the 2 count with Ziggler barely kicking out. Ziggler regained control with a face first lateral press slam to the mat. Ziggler was enraged at getting a near fall. Truth was able to score on the scissors kick to the back of Ziggler's head, and was surprised by yet another near fall. As Truth stood up, Ziggler rolled him into a package pin, with Truth reversing it. Neither man was successful. Ziggler managed to get Truth looking down at the mat. Dolph went against the ropes and tried for a legdrop on the back of Truth's head. R-Truth dodged it, then quickly ran against the ropes to hit his Lie Detector spinning forearm for the win.Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler.
