Smackdown Results 02/18/11 - 600th Episode

Smackdown Results from San Diego, CA:

Tonight's Smackdown on SyFy was the special 600th episode. It opened with a video package to pay tribute to the previous 599 episodes of the long-time show from WWE. Throughout the night the commentators referenced previous episodes of Smackdown and current superstars involvement on the brand.

12-Man Tag Match Elimination Chamber Competitors

The competitors from both the Raw and Smackdown chamber matches were involved in this match. On one side it was John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth and John Morrison. Their opponents were Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Wade Barrett, Sheamus, CM Punk and Kane.

Rey Mysterio took the brunt of the beatdown from the heels team. He eventually made the hot tag out. There was a major brawl in the ring with all of the wrestlers showing off their finishers. Mysterio hit a double 619 on Drew and Dolph, and then Edge rushed in to hit the Spear on Ziggler. Edge grabbed the pin and celebrated the win.

Post-match, Vickie Guerrero came out to spoil the party. She told Edge he's not the World Champion and he is fired since he took out Teddy Long. Vickie said later tonight, Dolph will be coronated as the new champion.

Winners: John Cena, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, R-Truth, Randy Orton and Edge win via pinfall over Barrett, Ziggler, Sheamus, Punk, McIntyre and Kane.

The commentators reviewed what happened to Cody Rhodes' nose several weeks back. From there, Todd Grisham interviewed Rhodes in an unknown spot. Rhodes had on a clear face mask and said doctors have cleared him to travel. He said he'll be on Smackdown next week with an announcement.

Eve & Beth Phoenix vs. Layla & Maryse

At the start of things, Maryse tried to bribe Beth with a handful of cash to leave the match, but The Glamazon wasn't going for it and slapped the money away. She started to beat up Maryse. However, not long after that Michelle McCool (who was nearby on commentary) got on the apron to distract the ref. The heels were able to use an illegal double-team and then score the winning pin.

Winners: Layla & Maryse win via pinfall over Eve & Beth Phoenix.

Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz

Kofi had the upperhand in this one, until his latest feud, Alberto Del Rio, arrived to ringside area. Del Rio distracted Kofi, which allowed The Miz to sneak up on Kofi and hit Skullcrushing finale for the win.

Post-match, Del Rio got in the ring to stand over Kofi and talk trash.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Kofi Kingston.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov vs. Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater
WWE Tag Team Championship Match

After the match was underway, the other guys from The Corre arrived to ringside. When Santino was able to hit The Cobra, the entire Corre rushed into the ring. The ref called for the DQ.

The Corre kept beating up Marella and Kozlov in the ring. The Big Show rushed to the ring to make the save. Ezekiel Jackson looked like he wanted to get into the ring with Show, but he headed backstage with the rest of the crew.

Winners: Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella win via pinfall over Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater.

The ring was set up with a special red carpet and other decorations for Dolph Ziggler's World Heavyweight Championship coronation ceremony. Vickie presented the championship belt to Ziggler. He walked around the ring proudly showing off the new hardware. Suddenly, Smackdown GM Teddy Long was back, appearing on the ramp.

Teddy arrived to the ring and confronted Vickie over his attack. Vickie kept denying it, then finally blamed it all on Dolph Ziggler. Teddy announced that he's back on the job and his first order of business was to rehire Edge and grant him a title match against Ziggler.

Edge vs. Dolph Ziggler
World Heavyweight Championship Match

The title match was short and sweet for Edge. Out of nowhere the Rated-R Superstar hit a big Spear to take down Ziggler and got the 1-2-3 on him for the win. Edge celebrated winning back the title and then Teddy Long arrived out.

Post-match, Tedd said that Dolph Ziggler is officially fired. Edge got on the mic to talk about how he appeared on the 1st ever Smackdown episode and now on the 600th he's won the World Championship. He got the crowd going with a "Hey Hey Hey Goodbye" song chant at Dolph Ziggler who went backstage. Confetti poured down from the rafters to celebrate Smackdown's 600 and Edge's victory.

Winner: Edge wins via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
