Raw Results 04/17/14


WWE Raw results from San Antonio, TX:

The show opened with Triple H coming out to discuss how he’s going to put a stop to the Yes! Movement at WrestleMania 30 and has some things to tell Daniel Bryan later in the show. Batista and Randy Orton each came out to complain about Triple H giving in to the idea of Daniel Bryan being in the main event match at Mania if he beats HHH. Hunter asked them if Bryan’s got inside their heads. Orton told HHH he wants a No DQ match against Bryan for tonight so he can do what Batista couldn’t do last week. HHH agreed and booked it. From there, Hunter chastised Batista and Orton for acting like they know what’s best for business. He added a new stipulation that if he beats Bryan at WrestleMania 30, he (HHH) gets added to the main event Triple Threat match for the title. HHH left and Orton hit the RKO on Batista.

The Real Americans defeated The Uso Brothers via pinfall in a non-title match. Late in the match, one of the Usos flew into an uppercut from Cesaro, who followed with the Neutralizer for the win.

In a backstage segment, Kane spoke to The Shield saying emotions have gotten out of hand and The Authority needs them united by his side. He said if they don’t do they right thing they’ll find out how replaceable they are.

Hornswoggle was shown handing out St Patty’s Day party favors at the ringside area. Bad News Barrett interrupted and rose up in his high podium to deliver a message about the holiday saying fans will spend it by drinking heavily, puking and doing a bunch of things they’ll regret for the rest of their lives.

Sheamus defeated Titus O’Neil via pinfall in a St. Patrick’s Day showdown match. Christian was on commentary, while Hornswoggle was ringside for Sheamus. Both Titus and Christian were announced as part of the WrestleMania 30 Battle Royal. Late in the match, Hornswoggle hit a low blow on Titus after Titus had thrown him around a bit. Sheamus beat on his chest then hit a Brogue Kick on Titus for the win. Post-match, Christian attacked Sheamus and threw him into the steel steps before hitting the Killswitch on the outside floor.

John Cena arrived out to talk about his upcoming match against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 30. He admitted being afraid of Wyatt because of who he is and what he stands for, as well as the fact that some fans might be listening to him. Cena said at WrestleMania 30 when he gets in the ring he’ll be fighting for his legacy. The Wyatts appeared up on the big screen with Bray saying children believe everything is good, but when they live long enough they realize everything is a lie. Wyatt talked about having a troubled childhood and having scars the world gave to him. He said he could be just like Cena and sign autographs, kiss babies and go home to his plastic girlfriend in a castle. Wyatt ended by saying he’s different and he doesn’t care if he dies as long as the world sees Cena the way he is.

A split screen showed Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton both on their way backstage for the upcoming No DQ Match (non-title).

Daniel Bryan defeated Randy Orton via pinfall in a non-title No DQ match. Late in the match, Orton had control and picked up a steel chair to use. Batista ran in and delivered a Spear on Orton to put him down. Bryan hit his knee to Batista’s head then made the pinfall cover on Orton for the win. Post-match, Batista recovered and hit a Batista Bomb on Orton.

Michael Cole hyped up the WWE Network, reminding fans that the one-week free trial ends this Saturday. He talked about the steps involved in signing up.

Paul Heyman came out on stage to deliver a promo about Brock Lesnar ending Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak at WM30. He said Taker is falling victim to the hands of time and aging. He said that Lesnar has beat up many of Undertaker’s previous opponents. Video highlights were shown. Heyman said “Undertaker’s streak will be conquered by Brock Lesnar. At WrestleMania, Taker’s Streak will Rest in Peace..”

They had a backstage segment where Stephanie McMahon was upset with HHH for wanting to talk to Bryan tonight. He said he wanted to talk to him man-to-man and get some things off his chest. She questioned what would happen if HHH wins the World Heavyweight title and has to go on the road. She asked HHH if he was even thinking clearly tonight. He said for the first time in a while he just might be. He told her to leave it alone and he’d take care of it. She said “You better.”

Goldust defeated Fandango via pinfall. Late in the match, Goldust went for a hurracanrana off the second rope. The ref checked him out after. Goldust eventually hit the Final Cut for the win. Post-match Cody checked on Goldust.

They showed Kane walking backstage. Cole talked about how The Authority gave The Shield a mission, so we may find out what it is after commercial break.

Kane came to the ring to talk about how last week’s “Occupy Raw Movement” went down in Memphis, saying it couldn’t have been done so easily just by Bryan. He implied that Jerry Lawler was involved in it and called him out. Lawler said he didn’t know why Kane was implicating him. Kane called out The Shield. Their music hit and they came to ringside, ordering Lawler to get in the ring. Rollins told Lawler he had a feeling Daniel Bryan wasn’t coming to save him, “Because the Shield always does what’s best for business.” They turned to Kane and Lawler left the ring. Kane yelled that they listen to him. Kane swung at them, but The Shield quickly started their attack. Kane managed to fight them off a bit, but Reigns speared him down and eventually they hit a Triple Powerbomb on Kane.

Naomi and Cameron defeated AJ Lee & Tamina via pinfall. AJ went for a Widowmaker late but Naomi powered out of it and slammed AJ onto the mat. Naomi followed with the split-leg moonsault for a pin on AJ. Post-match, AJ blew up at Tamina. Tamina shoved AJ down to the mat. AJ stayed seated on the mat looking upset for a bit, but nothing else transpired.

They announced the next inductee for the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame…Mr. T.

Big Show, Mark Henry, Big E & Dolph Ziggler defeated Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, Ryback & Curtis Axel via pinfall. Towards the end of the match, Ziggler was getting cut off by the heels who worked to wear him down. He was about to try to make a tag out, but Sandow tagged in to cut him off again. Eventually, Dolph broke free and made a hot tag to Big Show. Most of the competitors got involved and hit finishing moves on each other, with Big Show eventually getting a chokeslam on Sandow for the win.

Backstage, Renee Young interviewed Batista asking if it’s safe to say he didn’t quit. Batista said he hasn’t quit anything in his life, ever. He said he didn’t care if it’s Triple H or Daniel Bryan in his WrestleMania match, he’s leaving as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Bray Wyatt defeated Kofi Kingston via pinfall. Kofi had a good start on offense early, but Wyatt was able to take him down. Wyatt continued to dominate for the majority of the match, eventually hitting Sister Abigail for the win.

Triple H had Daniel Bryan come out to the ring so he could talk to him face-to-face. He talked about all the things he’s put Bryan through and how Bryan keeps on coming back. He said most other would’ve quit already. He said that’s why the fans respect Bryan, because he keeps going despite all that HHH has dumped on him since SummerSlam. Hunter said at Mania he has to do what’s best for business and it will mean putting Bryan down and ending the Yes! Movement. He tried to offer a handshake, but Bryan shook his head no. HHH said he’d probably do the same if he was in Bryan’s shoes and worse.

Stephanie came out irate about Triple H bringing up respect for Bryan. She said what Bryan did last week was criminal and she was pressing charges. She had cops come out and down to ringside. HHH tried to confront Stephanie telling her he had it handled. The cops surrounded Bryan and beat him down with nightsticks then handcuffed him. HHH got in the ring telling the cops it wasn’t what he wants and to let him guy. He said they should back off because they’re not real cops. HHH told them to leave then said “besides Im looking forward to doing this myself.” He started to kick and stomp Bryan who was still cuffed. Stephanie cheered from ringside.

HHH continued his attack bringing Bryan out of the ring, still in handcuffs. Bryan tried to fight back at one point, but HHH slammed him into the announcers table. He ran Bryan into the barricade as the fans chanted “You Suck!” Stephanie did a mocking “YES!” chant as HHH kept the beat down going. Triple H eventually shoved Bryan face-first into a cooler full of water near the timekeeper’s area. He held Bryan up and Steph slapped him in the face. Bryan told her she hits like a girl, so she slapped him several more times. Hunter rammed Bryan head-first into the ring base, then grabbed a Chair to hit him with. HHH eventually hit a Pedigree on Bryan to end the beatdown. HHH got on the mic and told the fans it was their ring, their show and there was no “Yes Movement.” The show closed with HHH’s theme music playing it out.
