Smackdown Results from Biloxi, MS:
The final Smackdown before Night of Champions 2014 opened with the pyro display and crowd shots by the camera. The main event was noted as Rusev vs. Roman Reigns for tonight’s show. The Usos made their ring entrance for the opening matchup which will feature Jimmy in singles action.
Jimmy Uso defeated Stardust via pinfall. Jimmy made a late comeback and set up for a Superkick, but Stardust avoided. Moments later, Jimmy connected on the Superkick for the pin. Post-match, Goldust tried to attack, but got a pair of Superkicks from The Usos.
Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler defeat The Miz and Cesaro via pinfall. Miz was preparing for his finisher on Sheamus, but Dolph Ziggler distracted Miz. Sheamus hit The Brogue Kick to score the pinfall win.
Adam Rose defeated Heath Slater via pinfall. Titus O’Neil was at ringside and grabbed Rose’s ankle to trip him up on one move. The Bunny from the Rosebuds got involved to hit a bunny-hop suicide dive onto Titus. In the match, Rose got the upper hand, hitting a variety of offense to eventually pin Slater.
The Wyatt Family defeated Big Show and Los Matadores via pinfall. Late in the match, Big Show and Erick Rowan started to brawl on the outside. Diego was the legal man for his team and hit a suicide dive on Harper outside the ring. As Diego got back in the ring, Bray Wyatt was ready and hit Sister Abigail for the win.
Paige defeated Nikki Bella via pinfall in a non-title match. AJ Lee and Brie Bella were at ringside area. Late in the contest, Paige and Nikki went back and forth with shots on one another. Paige eventually was able to get control hitting the Paige-turner for the pinfall win. Post-match, AJ grabs the divas title belt to give to Paige in the ring in a strange way. Nikki grabbed the belt away and knocked down Paige and AJ before holding the title up to end the segment.
Bo Dallas defeated Jack Swagger via pinfall. At one point, Bo hit a neck breaker on Swagger on the apron to gain control. Swagger staged a comeback and appeared in control to grab the win. Bo surprises him and is able to hit the Bo-Dog to get the pinfall. Post-match, Bo taunts Jack for following around a guy like Zeb Colter. Eventually, Swagger kicked Bo down, so Bo rolled out of the ring to get away.
Mark Henry had a backstage interview by Renee Young. He told her that this Sunday at Night of Champions it will be his redemption for losing to a Russian back in 1992 at the Olympics.
Rusev defeated Roman Reigns via disqualification when Seth Rollins interfered. Late in the match, Rusev was seemingly in control and smashed Reigns into the turnbuckle. Reigns made a comeback after hitting a flying clothesline and then a boot to Rusev’s head. He set up for the Superman Punch, but Seth Rollins showed up. Reigns was distracted which allowed Rusev to go for The Accolade submission. Reigns powered out of it and put Rusev down on the mat. Rollins tried to jump off the top rope with the MITB briefcase to hit Reigns but hit Rusev by mistake causing the DQ.
Post-match, Reigns went after Rollins on the outside as Rollins took off. The two ended up brawling in the crowd. Lana and Rusev celebrate in the ring for their victory, but Mark Henry comes out and tells them to lower Old Glory from the rafters. That got Rusev upset. The two beasts clashed in the ring with Rusev getting the upper hand, but Henry was able to gain his strength back to recover. Henry and Rusev charged at each other with Henry grabbing Rusev to hit World’s Strongest Slam on him. Henry stood tall to close out the Smackdown show.
