Recap of 5.27.07 Monday Night Raw from Toronto, Canada:
RAW kicked off with a bikini water fight battle royal amongst most of the WWE divas..
Bikini Water Fight Battle Royal (Mickie James, Candice Michelle, Melina, Jillian, Maria, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, Brooke, Layla, Kristal) - The divas participated in a bikini battle royal in the ring which had waterguns, buckets of water, and other random beach/swimming pool objects. The object was to eliminate opponents by tossing them out of the ring (through or over the ropes). The final 3 came down to Jillian, Michelle McCool and Melina. Melina and Jillian doubleteamed Michelle, Jillian grabbed the legs of Michelle while Melina grabbed her arms down on the mat as the two stretched her out. Once she finally escaped and got to her feet, Michelle able to duck a double clothesline attempt by Melina & Jillian and then clothesline both. Michelle able to toss Jillian out of the ring. Melina then took the fight to Michelle for a while. All of a sudden, Michelle able to dropkick Melina out through the ropes to win the match.
Winner: Michelle McCool won by eliminating Melina from the ring last.
Shane McMahon seen walking backstage on his way out to the ring.
Shane McMahon came to the top of the ramp and announced that in 2 weeks time there will be a "Tri-Branded WWE Draft" held on RAW. Shane said nobody will be exempt from this, men, women, or even leprechauns. Shane then turned attention to telling how his father Vince will defeat Lashley at One Night Stand and retain the ECW title. Shane said tonight he will be taking matters into his own hands and defeating Bobby Lashley with the help of tag team partners Umaga and Great Khali. Shane said by the time the match is over, Lashley will be flattened, and Lashley will learn why they call Shane "money".
The Hardys & Trevor Murdoch, Lance Cade vs. World's Greatest Team & Johnny Nitro/Kenny Dykstra (8 Man Tag Team match) - Surprisingly Matt, Jeff and Cade, Murdoch worked well together in the early going as they took the tight to Nitro and then Shelton Benjamin. Shelton able to finally back Matt into the corner, and tag in Haas. Matt reversed momentum and tossed Haas over his back, then tagged in Cade. At one point, the Hardys in ring at the same time were able to knock both Benjamin and Haas out of the ring to the outside. In a "Hardy-esque" type move, Trevor Murdoch climbed the corner turnbuckle and then dove at Benjamin and Haas, landing on top of them.
Back in ring, Jeff Hardy used high flying moves against Haas/Benjamin,but Benjamin finally able to deliver a strong kick to the head of Jeff Hardy, knocking him down. After pummeling Hardy quite a bit, Haas tagged in Dykstra to continue things. Haas, Benjamin, Dykstra and Nitro worked to dominate Jeff Hardy, who they kept from tagging out in his own corner. Jeff finally able to escape and jump over to tag Matt before Kenny could stop him. Matt Hardy able to do a double DDT on Nitro and Dykstra. The ring was then cleared by Murdoch and Cade, leaving just Dykstra to face the Hardys. Matt scored a Twist of Fate and then Jeff scored a Swanton Bomb off the corner turnbuckle. Jeff then scored the pinfall victory over Dykstra. After the match ended, Shelton Benjamin took the mic and entered the ring with Haas. Benjamin said World's Greatest Tag Team wanted to challeng the Hardy's for their titles at One Night Stand. Matt took the mic and said they would accept the challenge, but it would be a Ladder Match.
Winners: The Hardys, Cade & Murdoch win via pinfall.
Todd Grisham backstage outside the locker room of Cena, introduced his as his interview guest. Todd asked John Cena if he has changed his mind and become scared of The Great Khali since last week's beatdown. Cena said he stands by his word and Cena then mocked The Great Khali. Cena said he doesn't have fear but doubt that he can get the job down or do the impossible. Cena said in his time he's had a lot of critics and he takes great pride in shutting them up. Cena said at "One Night Stand" he gives the people his word that he "can and will do it".
Maria backstage to interview Santino Morella, the Intercontinental Champion. Maria asked Santino how he feels about the upcoming 3 Brand WWE Draft which will be on RAW in 2 weeks. Santino said he's ready to go wherever it may take him. Maria and Santino then joked about his accent. As Santino left, Randy Orton came up to Maria and told her he was unhappy with Rob Van Dam's comments on WWE.com which criticized Orton for what he did to Shawn Michaels. Randy spoke about basically ending Shawn Michaels' career. Randy Orton said he would show everyone how RVD will get what is deserved tonight in the ring.
Rob Van Dam vs. Randy Orton - Early on the two grappled in the ring with a series of holds, until RVD was able to knock Orton down off the ropes.
RVD able to attempt a series of unique pins and then cause Orton to retreat outside the ring to re-collect himself. Back in the ring, Orton able to knee RVD in the gut as he came off the ropes. As RVD was able to catch Orton with a kick to the head, RVD then tried a series of moves including "Rolling Thunder". Orton rolled out of the ring prior to the move. After a brief battle outside the ring, Van Dam climbed the ropes for a move. Orton able to shove RVD off the ropes right into the audience barrier. RVD hit the barrier face first and lay outside the ring as RAW went to break.
Back in the ring, Orton tossed RVD to the corner, then charged at him. RVD with a boot to Orton's face and then climbed off the ropes to jump at Orton. Both men down in the ring as the ref counted them, until they got up. RVD finally able to knock Orton down and then land the Rolling Thunder on him. RVD slammed Orton near the corner and then climbed the ropes. RVD dropped himself off the ropes onto Orton, and tried for a pin but scored just a 2 count. RVD then climbed the other side of the ring's turnbuckle, but was woozy. Orton got to the outside apron, but RVD jumped off the ropes and kicked Orton in the face, knocking him into the outside barrier. As Orton got back into the ring he was able to catch RVD and DDT him face first off the ropes into the mat. RVD layed down on the mat as the ref asked RVD to tell him he was still ok. RVD staggered to get to his feet, but RVD continued to knee and kick RVD in the head. RVD collapsed in the ring and unable to get up, so the ref stopped the match and awarded victory to Orton. After the match ended, Orton landed an RKO on RVD and watched him lay in the ring as WWE staff came to check RVD.
Winner: Randy Orton declared the winner after the ref decided RVD could not continue with the match.
Ric Flair & Torrie Wilson vs. Carlito & Victoria (Inter-Gender Tag Match)- Victoria tagged in early and slapped Flair in the face twice. Victoria taunted Flair to slap her in her face, but Flair grabbed her legs then dropped her to the mat for the figure four. Carlito rushed into the ring to drop an elbow on Flair and save VIctoria. After escaping a submission hold, Victoria able to tag Carlito back in. Carlito with a Boston Crab among other moves. Carlito tagged in Victoria. Carlito held Flair against the ropes as Victoria ran at Flair. Flair able to move away causing Victoria to crash into her partner, knocking him outside the ring. As Flair tagged in Torrie, he then fought with Carlito outside the ring. Carlito able to take down Flair outside the ring, and then doubleteam Torrie Wilson. Despite Torrie landing a series of moves on Victoria, Carlito pulled Torrie off the pin. Carlito then faced Torrie in the ring and grabbed her to kiss her. Torrie slapped Carlito, prompting him to deliver his finishing move, driving his knees into the back of Torrie. Carlito then with a pinfall over Torrie Wilson.
Winners: - Carlito and Victoria win pinfall.
Backstage, Umaga walked into the locker room area of Great Khali. Umaga began yelling in his language at Khali who began responding back incoherently. Shane interrupted the two and explained to both men their roles in tonight's match. Shane told Umaga to focus on Lashley, and Khali to focus on John Cena. Shane told the 2 men to make sure that he, Shane McMahon, was the one who got the pinfall to win the match.
Maria in the ring with a "Kiss Cam" segment, as the camerman panned the crowd to show various couples kissing. Just then, Chris Masters' music came on as Masters came down to the ring. Masters took the mic and said Maria seemed quite charmed by Santino Morella tonight. Masters said he was going to give Morella a chance to come down and break the Masterlock. Masters set up a chair in ring and then told everyone that someone would be put in the Masterlock tonight as he turned to look at a scared Maria. Just then, Santino Morella ran down to the ring and began to fight Masters. Despite several moves against Masters, Masters was able to catch Morella flying at him off the ropes. Masters promptly hoisted Morella on his shoulder and then drove him down onto his knee. Masters then locked the Masterlock onto Santino. Despite crowd chants of "Santino", Morella unable to break the hold. Masters finally tossed him down, with Maria looking on from outside the ring.
Bobby Lashley & John Cena vs. Shane McMahon, Umaga & The Great Khali (2 vs. 3 Handicap Match) - Umaga and Khali seemed to argue over who would start the match. Umaga started off versus John Cena ramming him into the corner and then tossing him to the opposite corner. Cena reversed things momentarily, but Umaga caught Cena in the throat with a chop/thumb. As a mixture of "Cena Sucks" and "Lets Go Cena" chants resonated through the crowd, Khali came in briefly to keep the beatdown going on Cena. Khali then tagged in Shane McMahon who delivered a series of moves on Cena. Shane kept Cena near the corner of Khali and Umaga, then tagged Umaga back in. Khali, Umaga and Shane continued taking turns on beating up John Cena, as they kept him away from tagging in Bobby Lashley.
As Shane McMahon locked in a hold on Cena down on the mat, Cena displayed his strength by getting to his feet and then with a bear-hug smashed Shane into the corner of the ring. Shane then went for a clothesline, but Cena ducked then caught Shane with a DDT style move. Cena finally able to tag Lashley in, who threw Umaga to the corner. Lashley with the momentum knocked Umaga to the outside of the ring. With Umaga and Shane both outside the ring, Cena and Lashley then doubleteamed The Great Khali. As the tag team threw Khali into the ropes, he became caught/tangled in the ropes allowing the duo to gain a strong advantage over Khali. Umaga still outside the ring was able to grab Cena's foot near the ropes and drag him out of the ring. Umaga then knocked Cena to the ground and kept him outside the ring. Khali and Shane McMahon then remained in ring to team up on Lashley. After Khali hoisted Lashley up with two hands and slammed him down to the mat, Shane flew off the ropes onto Lashley, driving an elbow drop into his chest. Shane then scored a pinfall victory for his team. As Shane, Umaga and Khali got to the top of the ramp, Vince McMahon came out to join them, as the 4 raised their arms up victoriously.
