RAW Recap 6.04.07
A recap of Monday Night RAW, June 4, 2007 from Tampa, Florida:
John Cena came down to the ring triumphant after last night's victory over The Great Khali at "One Night Stand". Cena told the crowd that these excited & cheering fans is what he loves about this business. Cena pointed out that Wade Boggs was in the front row and that tonight the audience seems just a little bit louder. Cena explained that he finally told the 7'5 Khali "F U". Cena mentioned the upcoming draft next week and said he needed to take a moment to take in what could possibly be his last time on RAW. Just as Cena was yelling "The Champ is Here", Vince McMahon came out to the ramp holding his ribs. Vince slowly came to the ring, seeming to be battered from last night's defeat by Bobby Lashley. Vince told Cena he knows he's out here to remind the people Vince is no longer a world champion. Vince said he wouldn't bend, bow or break. Cena said he was telling himself that Vince is probably just a bit emotional and delusional after last night's loss. Vince said if Cena wants to act better than him, then he will defend his title tonight in a triple threat match versus Umaga & The Great Khali. Cena then stared Vince down as Vince backed away out of the ring with an evil smirk on his face.
Cryme Tyme & Candice Michelle vs. Johnny Nitro, Kenny Dykstra and Melina - Early on the two teams had to pull Melina and Candice apart from each other. Nitro and Dykstra with early teamwork, as they tagged in and out and continuedto work on JGD. Nitro and Dykstra delivered neckbreakers, elbow drops and other moves onto JGD to keep him down and away from his partner Big Chad. At one point all competitors got into the ring at once. Candice attacked Melina and then JGD picked up and threw Candice at Melina. As Candice and Melina rolled out of the ring. JGD began to battle Dykstra and they also cleared out of the ring, allowing Big Chad to catch Nitro with a finishing move and then pinfall.
Winners: Cryme Time & Candice Michelle win via a pinfall over Johnny Nitro.
Chris Masters vs. Santino Morella (IC Title match) - Early on Santino used several kicks to the back of Masters' leg, but Masters finally escaped off the ropes and then began choking the IC champ. Masters began to dominate the match and kept Santino down on the mat, putting a hold on his neck and head. Morella finally countered to take some control of the match with a series of moves on Masters. Morella came off the ropes at Masters, who grabbed the champ and dropped him face first on the ropes. As Masters was about to put the Masterlock on Santino from behind, Morella slid out of his grasp and then used a unique rollup pin to capture the victory.
Winner: Santino Morella wins via pinfall over Chris Masters to retain the Intercontinental title.
Backstage Cade & Murdoch came up to congratulate the Hardys on last night's victory over World's Greatest Tag team in a ladder match. Cade & Murdoch said they'd like a title opportunity but only after the Hardy's are back to 100%. Just then Vince McMahon walked up and looked at the tag team belts then told the Hardys since they are still champs they will put their titles on the line tonight vs. Cade & Murdoch. Vince then kept walking and saw Torrie Wilson with Ric Flair. Vince said it disgusts him to see a degenerate hanging out with a girl less than half his age. Torrie made a joke about Linda McMahon walking in to see Torrie with Vince and Vince's pants down. Angrily Vince then put Torrie in a match vs Carlito for tonight and then told Ric Flair he would face Randy Orton.
Ric Flair vs. Randy Orton - Replays were shown of how Orton gave RVD a concussion at last night's One Night Stand, causing RVD to leave on a stretcher. Early on Flair began chopping, hitting and kicking Randy Orton. Orton was finally able to catch Flair off the ropes and slam him down to the mat. Orton down on the mat looking at Flair like an animal stalking prey, as RAW went to commercial.
Back from break, Flair managed to get a Figure 4 leglock slapped onto Orton. Orton was able to stretch from his back and finally reach the bottom rope. Orton escaped the ring, but then came back in and was able to take Flair back down to the mat. Orton with a knee drop to Flair's head, followed by a headlock on Flair. As Flair got back to his feet, he chopped Orton's chest then ran off the ropes. Orton with a quick dropkick to send Flair back down to the mat. Orton continued to use a headlock on Flair down on the mat, until Flair managed to pickup and suplex Orton. After a failed Figure Four by Flair, Orton sent Flair to the corner then started punching away at Flair's head. Flair finally started to chop back at Orton then jabbed Orton in his eye. With Orton down on the mat, Flair used a knee to the head, then tried to pickup Orton. Orton reversed and threw Flair to the corner, then clotheslined him down. Flair got back up and kept the fight going, eventually sending Orton out of the ring.
As Flair came out to chase Orton, Orton was able to clothesline Flair down to the floor. Orton brought Flair back into the ring before a 10 count. Orton then used a running kick to the head of Flair who then started to bleed. Flair usedthe ropes to pull himself back to his feet. As Flair stumbled towards Orton, Orton used the RKO to quickly drop Flair and then pin him for a victory. After the match had ended, the ref attended to the fallen Flair who layed on his back nearly unconscious. The ref managed to prevent Orton for inflicting even more damage on the fallen Flair.
Winner:Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Ric Flair.
Torrie Wilson vs. Carlito - Torrie limped down the ramp with a bandaged right leg. Carlito told Torrie he didn't want to hurt her and told her to just walkout of the ring for a countout. As the bell rang, Torrie turned to leave the ring and Carlito grabbed her around the waist from behind. Carlito with a take down to the mat, then stood Torrie back up and used his double knee to the back finisher to drop Torrie to the mat again. With Torrie layed out, Carlito scored a pinfall victory, then left the ring and backed his way up the ramp smiling.
Winner: Carlito wins via pinfall over Torrie Wilson.
Cade & Murdoch vs. The Hardys - A visibly battered and beat up Matt & Jeff Hardy made their way down to the ring for the match. Cade & Murdoch shook hands with the Hardys prior to the match start. Early on Matt Hardy and Murdoch exchanged arm holds. Matt Hardy with 2 quick pins that failed. The Hardys able to double clothesline Cade. The two continued to work together on Cade as they contained him in the corner. Jeff ran across the ring and jumped off Matt as a ramp onto Cade. Jeff also flew over the top rope and landed on Murdoch who had gone outside the ring. In the process Jeff injured his knee and was clutching it as RAW went to commercial.
Back from break, Cade & Murdoch were doubleteaming Matt in the ring with Jeff looking on from the other corner. Cade & Murdoch focused on the injured ribs of Matt Hardy and kept him away from tagging Jeff. Cade able to use a spinebuster on Matt off the ropes. Murdoch tagged in and tried to keep Matt down to the mat and away from Jeff, but Matt got to his feet and managed to slam Murdoch down. Matt began to roll over to Jeff and finally tagged out. Jeff began to battle both Murdoch and Cade in the ring, taking both down 1 by 1. Jeff climbed the corner turnbuckle to jump, but Murdoch came over to interfere. Matt Hardy managed to come over and toss Murdoch out of the ring. Matt then landed a Side Effect on Cade. Jeff went for the Swanton Bomb, but missed allowing Cade to grab a pinfall. Jeff put his foot on the bottom rope as the ref counted, but Murdoch was outside the ring and knocked Jeff's foot off the rope before the ref could see. Cade & Murdoch are the new tag team champs. Matt Hardy went over to them as they held their titles up and asked if Jeff's foot was on the rope. The 2 looked puzzled at Matt and then Murdoch kicked Matt in the stomach. Cade & Murdoch then used their new belts to clock both Matt & Jeff on their heads, leaving the former champs lying on their backs in the ring.
Winners: Cade & Murdoch win via pinfall and become new WWE Tag Team champions.
Backstage, Vince seated on a couch with Coach standing behind him. Vince told Coach that next week is the WWE draft and then told Coach to go tell the people what else next week is.
Coach came to the top of the ramp, with mic in hand to tell the crowd that next week will not only be a 3 hour WWE draft on RAW, but it will also be "Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night". Great Khali then came down the ramp with his new manager in preparation for the main event.
Umaga vs. The Great Khali vs. John Cena (Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship) - Khali clotheslined Cena down as Cena ran at him. Umaga then exited the ring as Khali continued to work on Cena. Umaga grabbed a roll of wires from outside the ring. Khali brought Cena outside the ring and continued to dismantle him. Khali threw Cena into the steel steps, and then Umaga picked up the top steps and went to throw them at Cena. Cena ducked causing the steps to hit Khali in the head knocking him down. Umaga got back into the ring and ran at Cena in the corner. Cena raised his boot to Umaga's face. As Cena ran over at the stunned Umaga, Umaga quickly clotheslined Cena down. With Cena down, Umaga began to dominate the match with a series of moves including dropping down onto Cena off the ropes. Cena able to finally kick Umaga in the face and then climb the corner ropes. Cena went to jump at Umaga who caugh Cena in the air and then sidewalk slammed him down. Cena rolled out of the ring. Just then, Khali re-entered the ring and he and Umaga stared each other down.
Umaga and Khali began to chop away at each other. Umaga ran off the ropes at Khali, but Khali used a spin kick to Umaga's head. Umaga fell to the mat then rolled out of the ring. Cena got back into the ring and went to "F U" Khali. With Khali on Cena's shoulders, Khali then elbowed Cena in the head breaking the move up. Khali with a series of moves including a massive leg drop on Cena. Khali with a failed pinfall on Cena. Khali about to slam Cena down but just then Umaga got back into the ring and charge at the 2. Umaga knocked Khali back into the ropes causing Khali to become tangled with his arms in the ropes. Cena stumbled back to the corner and fell down in a seated position. Umaga saw this and went to run at Cena to smash into him. Cena moved just in time causing Umaga to hit his hip into the corner. Khali then became untangled and went to grab Umaga to slam him. Umaga able to use a thumb to the neck of Khali. Cena was back up and managed to knock Umaga out of the ring. Seeing a stunned Khali, Cena was able to pick him up on his shoulders and deliver an "F U" to the giant. Cena then captured a pinfall victory over Khali to retain the title.
Winner: John Cena wins via pinfall over Great Khali to retain his title.
