Thoughts About Raw, Smackdown, & the Champs

WWE Hornswoggle Likes Lucky Charms

A few thoughts and ideas regarding some of the recent stories and things going on with WWE.

- The Hornswoggle as Vince's illegitimate child has been somewhat amusing so far. His antics might remind some of the "Leprechaun" horror movie series in which the main villain is a small leprechaun who jumps out and terrorizes people. Hornswoggle is more fun loving though, so far and his antics are just childish sorts of games and pranks. The boxes of Lucky Charms and unicorn were a nice touch, to once again show how the WWE can generalize, and poke fun at leprechauns.

- An interesting note on consistency about the various WWE wrestlers returning from injury. Does anyone else find it interesting that both Rey Mysterio and the Undertaker made returns to face the wrestlers responsible for injuring them, yet Triple H has not? Triple H's injury came during a brutal match where he tagged with HBK against Orton and Edge of RKO. It could be argued that Orton didn't really injur him, but Michaels and HHH were both made bloody during that match. It seems Taker and Mysterio went for revenge in their returns, but HHH did not. Granted, Randy Orton was vying for John Cena's title at the past few pay per views, meaning HHH would have new feuds. Does HHH deserve a shot at Orton? It is likely to come once HHH gets through all the matches Coach and Vince throw at him, maybe as a last resort by Vince.

- The Smackdown in-ring collapse of Teddy Long last Friday seems like another WWE attempted death story, and makes you wonder if they should be fooling with those sorts of things with what's happened since June. It just might not look good for WWE to have fake deaths and fake heart attacks right about now. Fake injuries make sense, sometimes they are useful to write a wrestler out for a real injury. But fake heart attacks and deaths are too close to what's been hurting WWE in the media.

- It's great to see Ron Simmons actually wrestling again versus just being a one word guy in skits. As funny as the "DAMN" skits can be, he's a ring legend who needs to be doing that more. Also, the recent Santino Marella "bashing of Stone' Cold's Movie" bits make you wonder how long before Marella receives a Stone Cold Stunner..

- Another note, on the current "main" champs for each of the brands. Raw has John Cena, ECW has CM Punk and Smackdown has Batista. You'll notice it's face characters and the clean cut, role model types. WWE surely wants their clean, popular guys to have the belts. In terms of clean, that is guys who wouldn't be brought up during a Congressional hearing or allegations/stories of steroid abuse. Makes sense, plus those 3 tend to be popular amongst fans (Cena does have his fans, believe it or not). Randy Orton must not be holding the title due to the fact he has been tied to stories about the Signature prescription drug company, but that's only a guess.

- In addition to that, 3 guys who have been MIA from Raw for a few weeks now, Regal, Kennedy and Umaga should all be back on the show this Monday. Since HHH is facing Mr. McMahon in the main event, it might even be a safe bet that Umaga gets involved in the Game's match against Vince. It would be great to see Hornswoggle start undermining McMahon more too, stay tuned..
