WWE Smackdown Recap 10.19.07

Smackdown recap from the UK:

Smackdown opened with a recap of last week's #1 Contender match between Rey Mysterio and Finlay, with Batista watching from the commentator's table. As both wrestlers were disqualified by the ref for shoving him, all of a sudden the Undertaker showed up in the ring. Taker looked out at Batista who stood up. Taker signaled he wants his title back. JBL and Michael Cole discussed how now Undertaker will face Batista at Cyber Sunday for the World Heavyweight title. Michael Cole said tonight JBL will interview Batista. Great Khali came down to the ring to start things off.

Kane vs. Great Khali

Kane kicked and punched away at Khali to start it off, but Khali gave him a right hand then a headbutt knocking him back. Khali tossed Kane to the ropes then delivered a boot, knocking him to the mat. With Kane down, Khali applied a strong grip to his shoulder muscle causing Kane to exhibit a pained look. Khali continued to dominate and waited for Kane to get up, then tried for his "Vice grip" hold. Kane wisely moved to the ropes to escape it.

With Kane in the corner, Khali began to kick and punch away at him. Kane battled back, punching away at Khali. Kane went to the ropes and was able to land a clothesline, knocking Khali down. As Khali got up, Kane applied the chokeslam, but Khali was able to elbow his way out, then clothesline Kane over the top rope. With Kane out of the ring, Khali went out and wrapped an electrical cable around Kane's neck. The ref called for the bell disqualifying Khali for his actions. Khali continued to attack Kane and slammed him against the steel steps. As Khali went to do more damage, Kane recovered and grabbed a small TV from one of the tables. Kane smashed the TV over Khali's head causing the giant to fall.

Just then, Big Daddy V came out from backstage with Matt Striker and walked down to the ring. Khali got back up on the apron causing Kane to go at him, but V got into the ring and attacked Kane from behind. Khali fell back out of the ring, but V picked up Kane on his shoulders then slammed him straight back. Afterwards, V stood with Striker over the fallen Kane.

Winner: Kane wins due to disqualification of the Great Khali.

Backstage, Big Daddy V stood while Matt Striker spoke. Striker said V is the most dominant force in the WWE and now Smackdown fans will witness that.

Chris Masters vs. Chuck Palumbo

Palumbo rode down to the ring on his custom motorcycle with Michelle McCool on back. The two men started out grappling but Palumbo dropped Masters to the mat. Masters got up and tossed Palumbo to the ropes, then Masters slide under the bottom rope. As Masters told Michelle to head backstage, Palumbo came outside the grab Masters and bring him back into the ring.

Palumbo backed Masters to a corner, but Masters was able to kick his way out and start punching away at Palumbo from the ropes. Masters went for a suplex but Palumbo blocked then countered to suplex Masters down. Palumbo tried to follow with an elbow drop but Masters rolled out of the way. Masters then started to ram away at Palumbo in the corner and suplexed him back. Masters continued to try to punch Palumbo in the ring, but Palumbo responded by punching Masters down and getting fired up. Palumbo took control and climbed to the top rope. Palumbo delivered a forearm off the ropes to Masters. As Michelle was looking on, Victoria ran down and attacked her from behind. With Michelle knocked down, Palumbo was distracted allowing Masters to roll him up from behind and steal the win.

Winner: Chris Masters wins via pinfall over Chuck Palumbo.

Matt Hardy shown preparing for a match in the locker room. Just then, MVP came up to him and said he feels the two of them are starting to bond over the past few weeks. MVP started to compare them to other duos such as Michael Jordan and Steve Kerr or Tiger Woods and "his caddy". MVP tried to talk Matt out of their match at Cyber Sunday, but Matt said he's looking forward to what the fans vote for. MVP told Matt he's doing everything to make sure they keep their tag titles and focus. Matt said he had to leave for his match with Finlay and wished MVP luck on his match later with Rey Mysterio.

Raw Rebound highlighted this past week's demonstration by Umaga against Andy Simmons. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had Umaga show the fans on Raw the 3 matches fans can vote on for Umaga vs HHH at Cyber Sunday. Umaga then defeated the amateur in a street fight, 1st blood match and a steel cage match, leaving him battered and bloody. Vince taunted Umaga as if he were a wild animal telling him the man he was attacking was HHH.

Finlay vs. Matt Hardy

Early on Finlay tried to keep Matt wrapped up near the ropes. The ref broke them apart cleanly, then the two men got into a shoving match. Finlay grabbed Matt's leg and took him down, but Matt recovered quickly. Hardy kicked Finlay in the gut, causing Finlay to escape the ring. As Finlay got up, Matt did a sliding dropkick into him. Matt got onto the apron where Finlay was able to recover and yank Matt down. As Matt finally got back into the ring, Finlay tossed him hard to the corner then delivered a leg drop.

Finlay tried to keep Matt down in a leg hold, but Matt kicked his way out of things. As Matt got up, Finlay knocked him down again and continued to dominate. Finlay applied a headlock to Matt, keeping him down, but Matt got to his feet. Matt was able to elbow Finlay down off the ropes then clothesline him in the corner. A running bulldog followed by a Side Effect was used by Hardy, but Finlay escaped the pin. Matt went for the Twist of Fate, but Finlay shoved him to the corner. Matt climbed the ropes, but Finlay yanked him down then tried to pin. Finlay went to use the ropes for leverage and pulled the middle turnbuckle cover off. As the ref went to fix it, Finlay went over to grab his shaleleigh. MVP happened to be down at the ring and shoved the shalaleigh off the corner of the ring. Hardy had recovered by then and delivered the Twist of Fate as Finlay turned around.

Winner: Matt Hardy wins via pinfall over Finlay.

The Major Brothers were shown backstage on their way out to the ring for the next match.

Drew McIntyre vs. Biran Major

Highlights shown from last week's debut by Drew McIntyre who defeated Brett Major in singles competition with help from Dave Taylor.

Brian tried to wrap up Drew early on but it was broken up by the ref at the ropes. McIntyre brought Major down using an armbar. McIntyre tossed Major to the corner and ran at him, but Brian jumped up then grabbed McIntyre, tossing him down. McIntyre caught Major as he jumped at him off the ropes, then slammed him onto the top rope face first. McIntyre applied a tough headlock on Major then dropped him down to the mat. Major finally escaped McIntyre and was able to dropkick and clothesline him down. As Major was attacking, Dave Taylor climbed on the side apron to distract him. Brian went over and tried to jump over the top ropes but Taylor moved away. As the injured Major got back up, Dave Taylor delivered a shot to him. McIntyre grabbed Major and brought him back into the ring, then delivered his finisher, slamming Major face first to the mat.

During the match, Michael Cole let fans know that Teddy Long is out of the hospital and resting at home.

Winner: Drew McIntyre wins via pinfall over Brian Major.

Highlights video shown of Wrestlemania where Undertaker defeated Batista for the World Heavyweight title. Also shown were the other encounters between Taker and Batista, including the Backlash match which resulted in a draw, and the Smackdown steel cage match, also resulting in a draw. Undertaker lost the title due to Edge cashing in his "Money in the Bank" title after Undertaker was already beat up from a match and Mark Henry. Batista later went on to win the World Heavyweight title defeating Great Khali and Rey Mysterio in a Triple Threat match at Unforgiven.

JBL Interviews Batista

JBL discussed how the Batista vs Undertaker will be like other great rivalries such as Ali-Frasier. JBL lobbied for himself to be voted in as special guest referee for the match. JBL then asked the crowd to chant his name with him, but as he said "J-B-L" the fans added "sucks" afterwards. Batista's music came on interrupting the chant, and the champ came down to the ring.

An angry looking Batista entered the ring with JBL, then posed with his championship belt from the ring corners. Batista grabbed a mic from ringside then asked JBL if he was still talking. JBL told Batista from what he's heard he is leading the vote for special referee for Batista's match. Batista delivered the message "stay out of my way" for anyone chosen to be special ref for his match. JBL reminded Batista of his loss to Undertaker at Wrestlemania and the fact he's never defeated the Undertaker. JBL quoted Batista from his book about how Batista said he just wanted to "stand up to Undertaker". JBL said Batista is afraid of the Undertaker then called him a "coward" as he was about to exit the ring. Batista paused for a moment then turned back and ran at JBL, spearing him down. JBL rolled out of the ring holding his midsection. Batista raised his title and looked out at JBL with a glare.

An angry JBL yelled at Michael Cole about Batista just attacking him. JBL said there's no reason for the attack and he will get retribution against Batista

WWE Diva contest highlights shown from the "Surf & Rescue" competition. Diva hopefuls had to rescue a mannequin and give it CPR on the beach. Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Deuce & Domino

Highlights shown of Jimmy Wang Yang defeating Deuce last week, but then Yang was attacked by Deuce, Domino and Cherry afterwards.

Yang took down Domino early, then tossed him to the ropes. Domino escaped under the ropes, but Yang jumped over and landed on top of him. Deuce came over to help out, but Moore jumped off the side apron onto him. Moore tagged in and started using high flying moves against Domino knocking him to the mat. Domino regained control and tagged in Deuce so they could doubleteam Moore. Shannon finally ducked under a clothesline and tagged Yang in to face Deuce.

Yang used an array of high flying kicks and moves to attack Deuce. Moore came over to help on the side apron as he used a head scissors to flip Domino over the top ropes with him. With Yang and Deuce alone in the ring, Yang was able to land a moonsault off the ropes and cover Deuce for the pinfall victory.

Winners: Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore win via pinfall over Deuce and Domino.

Backstage Vickie Guerrero was shown on a cell phone ordering flowers for Teddy Long. Jamie Noble entered the office looking upset. He told Vickie she forced him into a match with Great Khali last week and he thought they were on the same page. Noble told Vickie he now understands she's got a tough job and being a woman is probably why she made such an irrational decision. Noble offered his assistance for anything to help out Smackdown. Vickie said she would give him a match to help out with the show, and he can face The Undertaker. An enraged Noble began screaming about it as he left the office.

Jamie Noble vs. The Undertaker

In a very quick match, Noble tried to attack early with Taker in the corner. Noble climbed the ropes and started punching away at Taker, but Undertaker shoved him across the ring. As Noble got up, Taker delivered a hard chokeslam, putting Noble down on the mat. Undertaker signaled for his finisher, then picked up Noble and used the Tombstone Piledriver to finish him off for the victory.

Winner: Undertaker wins via pinfall over Jamie Noble.

Promo shown for the new 3 disc DVD all about Rey Mysterio, "The Biggest Little Man". The DVD will be available this coming Tuesday.

Michael Cole and JBL discussed all of the Cyber Sunday matches that fans can vote on, including Triple H vs Umaga and Randy Orton vs either Shawn Michaels, Mr. Kennedy or Jeff Hardy. JBL showed fans how to vote as he voted for himself as special guest ref for the Batista vs. Undertaker match. Kasabian's "Fast Fuse" will be the Cyber Sunday theme song.

The cryptic "Save Us" commercial with numbers and letters flashing across the screen was shown as Smackdown hit a commercial break.

MVP vs. Rey Mysterio

Early on Mysterio was able to drop MVP to the mat and dropkick him through the ropes. Mysterio tripped against the ropes and went for the 619, but MVP moved away then gained momentum. MVP ran against the ropes at Rey, but Mysterio pulled the top rope down causing MVP to fall out. Mysterio then jumped off the top rope onto MVP crashing into a heap outside the ring. Mysterio limped outside the ring but continued to attack MVP on the side apron. MVP finally caught Mysterio and hoisted him up on his shoulders. MVP dropped Mysterio over the ropes to the mat then re-entered the ring. With Mysterio down MVP came off the rope to deliver a hard kick which propelled Rey out of the ring. Smackdown headed to break with Mysterio knocked outside the ring.

As Smackdown returned, MVP had Mysterio down in the ring in an arm hold. MVP tried for a pin with Rey kicking out. MVP got to his feet and started to punch and kick MVP. Rey ran against the ropes ducking a MVP clothesline, but MVP caught him the second time and threw him back. Mysterio recovered and stood up in the corner, as MVP ran at him to kick him. Mysterio avoided it, then took control. Rey ran against the ropes and did a flying bodypress onto MVP. Mysterio did another move then attempted a pin with MVP shoving him off.

Mysterio tried to jump onto MVP, and MVP caught him to do a side slam. With Mysterio near the ropes, MVP failed at another kick. Rey dropkicked him against the ropes then delivered the 619. Mysterio tried to springboard off the ropes but MVP ducked. MVP came off the ropes to deliver a solid kick, knocking Mysterio down. Just then, Finlay ran down to the ring as MVP was in control. Finlay grabbed MVP by the leg and yanked him out of the ring, attacking him. As the ref called for the bell, Mysterio came out to attack FInlay. Finlay got the upper hand and tossed Rey back into the ring. Finlay tried to attack more, but this time Rey got the upperhand, using a headscissors to toss Finlay down to the mat. Finlay rolled out of the ring and the ref held him back as he yelled and pointed at Rey.

Winner: MVP wins due to disqualification when Finlay attacked him.
