Smackdown Preview 04.25.08

Friday night's Smackdown will feature a rematch between the two familiar foes, the Animal Batista and the Phenom, the Undertaker. While the two men fought last week to a draw, this week Undertaker's World Heavyweight Championship will be up for grabs. The match was set up after Taker and Batista grabbed spectators Edge, Ryder and Hawkins from the audience and began the beatdwon. Reinforcements Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely rushed to the ring to intervene, but were also beaten down.

Due to the melee, Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero ordered Batista to face Taker for his prized championship belt. Edge will challenge the winner at the Backlash PPV. Will Batista be heading into Backlash as the new World Heavyweight Champion?

Smackdown diva Cherry also picked up her first singles win last week, with help from Michelle McCool. Michelle was able to distract Victoria from outside the ring, allowing Cherry to roll up Victoria in a pinfall. All 4 of these divas were recently announced as part of a huge 12 diva tag match at Backlash. While Cherry is 1-0, how long will her undefeated streak last against the tough divas of Smackdown? Will Natalya Neidhart be her next opponent, or does the new diva have her sight set on Michelle McCool?

We also have Matt Hardy, MVP, Great Khali and Big Show all preparing for their huge matches at Backlash. Hardy will face MVP for the United States Championship, and the two behemoths Khali and Show will face off in a battle between two 7 footers. Who will make the biggest statement on Smackdown as we head to Backlash?
