Raw Preview 04.21.08
After a one year break, tonight's Raw will feature the return of WWE's "King of the Ring" tournament. During Raw there will be a tournament of single round elimination matches. Eight superstars from the rosters of ECW, Raw and Smackdown will compete. While it's not known right now who the competitors are, it's sure to make for an interesting night full of matches, with one superstar ending the show as WWE's 2008 King of the Ring. Previous winners have included the Macho Man, Bret & Owen Hart, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Booker T was the last reigning King in 2006, but who will wear the crown for 2008? See previous King of the Ring winners here.
Also expect more from superstars Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels and Batista. Jericho, who will be special referee for the Batista-Michaels match at Backlash, has hosted each wrestler on his "Highlight Reel" show. However, Jericho managed to irritate both wrestlers and was on the receiving end of a HBK Superkick on Raw, and then a Batista Bomb om Smackdown. How will Jericho react to Batista and Michaels' actions last week. Will Jericho have more comments to make on tonight's Raw, or will the brash superstar be a little quieter as he prepares to referee the feud?
There was also an open invite issued to the democratic presidential candidate hopefuls, Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. WWE has suggested the two feuding politicians take to the WWE ring to settle their political differences. According to WWE.com, both Senators will be in attendance at Raw to watch the event. Will the two be able to get into a WWE ring and settle their differences?
Expect to see more from Beth Phoenix who will want a rematch against the new Women's champion Mickie James, as well as the participants in the Fatal Fourway WWE title match set for Backlash.
Tonight's Raw will be a special 3 hour show starting at 8 PM EST on USA.
