Does WWE Lack Heels?
The Bleacher Report offers a recent article discussing how WWE seems to lack heels called What's Happening to all the Heels? In the article it's noted that with Randy Orton injured and so many other heels turning good lately, the WWE is lacking in the "bad guy" wrestler department. If you scan the rosters most of the heels are in the shadows right now. Examples would be guys like Chavo Guerrero, Chris Jericho, MVP, Santino Marella and Lance Cade. Edge is easily WWE's top heel, but even he right now is in a standoff with his ex-fiancee, Vickie Guerrero.
While the heels still do exist, it may be plausible that the WWE fans are backing the wrestlers they support most. If you look at John Cena, he gets his share of cheers or boos no matter what arena he's in, and he's considered a face. There's heels who get plenty of respect too. Even when's he in full-out heel mode, Kane tends to get a lot of fan backing. Even Santino Marella and MVP are entertaining and comical enough to get fans cheering for them at times. So the WWE may not lack heels, it just may be a new era where fans enjoy rooting on all sorts of characters.
Once Orton returns, each brand should have a top heel. ECW will have Mark Henry, Smackdown will have Edge, and Raw will once again have Orton who will probably start to make life hell for CM Punk. And don't forget William Regal or Vince McMahon. Both were considered "most powerful entity in WWE" at different times and both are capable of big surprise returns to wreak havoc on WWE superstars.
