Smackdown Preview 07.18.08
A week ago on Smackdown it appeared that the show's most powerful and vindictive couple, Edge and Vickie, were on the ropes, no longer to be unified by a marriage. Vickie flexed her power by scheduling Edge to face the massive Big Show in a No DQ match for the main event. Big Show was well in control of the match and about to destroy Edge, when Vickie realized her love for Edge, and called for the match to end. Now with Edge & Vickie reunited, they plan to be married as of Friday night's show. Will the wedding and celebration distract Edge from preparing to face Triple H for the WWE title on Sunday? Will any superstars intervene in the wedding festivities?
Two superstars on Smackdown who appear to be at odds now are MVP and Mr. Kennedy. Last week MVP was ringside with the commentators to discuss Kennedy's match against Domino. Before the match Kennedy delivered a bit of a jab towards the highest paid star on Smackdown, and MVP didn't take kindly to the insult. Following the match, MVP distracted Kennedy enough so that the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga could get into the ring and decimate Kennedy. What will Kennedy's reaction be to last week's incident? Will he call out MVP or Umaga on Friday's show?
There's also two titles which are in the picture besides the WWE title. A divas championship is set to be decided on Sunday between Michelle McCool and Natalya. Last week saw Natalya brutally attack Michelle in the ring, then pose near the divas belt, signifying she plans to win the title. Another title which appears to be in jeopardy is Matt Hardy's United States Championship. Hardy lost a hard fought non-title match to Shelton Benjamin last week. Now Benjamin can lay claim to #1 contender status for the US title. Will he get a title shot on Friday night and pickup the gold? How will the divas prepare for Sunday's new title match?
Smackdown airs just 2 days before the Great American Bash with plenty of titles on the line!
