Tonight's edition of Smackdown will celebrate 500 episodes of the weekely WWE television program! The theme will be "Smackdown 500 - Road to Wrestlemania" and feature superstars from each of the respective brands as they prepare for the huge Pay-Per-View event which is just a few weeks away. Back in August 1999, Smackdown officially made its debut and featured The Rock going against Triple H for the WWE title with Shawn Michaels as Special guest referee. The show has seen everyone from John Cena to Brock Lesnar to Big Show, Edge and Ric Flair grace the program. Now nearly ten years later, Smackdown is still going strong at its new home, MyNetworkTV.

In a huge title match, Shelton Benjamin will once again put his United States Championship up for grabs, this time with Montell Vontavius Porter the challenger. These two have been at each other's throats for weeks now, with Shelton's swagger not impressing MVP in the least bit. Just recently they've stepped in the ring against one another on Raw and ECW, but in tag matches. Now both men are headed for Wrestlemania 25's Money in the Bank Ladder match, but first must get to the business at hand; Shelton looks to defend the US title once worn for nearly a year by MVP! Which of these talented superstars will come out on top as United States Champion Friday night?
The main event will see Triple H preparing for his big WWE title match at Wrestlemania 25. The Game will be defending the WWE title against Randy Orton at Mania, in a match which also features a major feud. It all started with Orton RKO'ing Triple H's wife, Stephanie McMahon. The feud has seen Triple H chasing Orton and Legacy with a Sledgehammer as well as Tonight on Smackdown, HHH gets into the ring with the Moscow Mauler, Vladimir Kozlov. Kozlov will not be happy as he's been the recipient of back-to-back singles losses on Raw (Shawn Michaels) and Smackdown (Undertaker). Will Triple H be able to stay focused and defeat Kozlov in tonight's main event? Or will Kozlov gain the advantage and weaken Triple H in Randy Orton's favor?
