Raw Preview 06.08.09

With the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View results now in, the landscape of WWE Raw has certainly changed. In the biggest victory of the night for a Raw superstar, the Animal Batista was able to finally unleash his rage inside a steel cage to defeat Randy Orton. Orton had nowhere to run to and every attempt at escape was foiled by Batista. Although it was a quick affair, the contest saw both men try to bloody up their opponent by smashing them into the tough walls of the cage. Orton went for a final escape attempt, but found himself hoisted on Batista's shoulders, and eventually the victim of a lethal Batista Bomb. After a 3 count, Batista was crowned the new WWE Champion! There was unfortunate earlier news on Batista which indicated the new champ is scheduled for surgery for his biceps muscle this Tuesday. Will this play a part in Batista's title reign, making it shortlived? What will Orton have to say regarding the title loss?

Another Raw superstar who enjoyed a "Big victory" was John Cena in his submission match against The Big Show. Show used his size and power to try to gradually wear down Cena. Cena, the constant underdog as this match was built up to, managed to keep at his larger opponent, eventually grounding him. With Show's leg hurt and tangled in the ropes, Cena managed to lock on the STF submission and made the big man tap out to submit. Now Cena holds two impressive victories over the largest athlete on Raw. Will Big Show continue to feud with Cena, or will this match have ended their fights? What's in store next for each of these superstars?

And finally, the most bizarre yet entertaining match of Extreme Rules came between Raw's current General Manager Vickie Guerrero, and its resident twin sister of Santino Marella, Santina. The Extreme match involved a muddy hog pen full of pigs and slop. At stake was the Miss Wrestlemania crown which Vickie won off Santina weeks ago. Vickie decided to switch the rules up for the match as she brought along Chavo Guerrero to make it a handicap match. Santina was still agile and wise enough to elude the slop throwing skills of Chavo, and after dumping a bucket on his head, she managed to take down Vickie for the pinfall in the Hog pen. Santina now wears the sash and crown as well as the respect of the Miss Wrestlemania title. However, it seems the mud and slop on Vickie's face enraged her enough to yell at her true familia, Chavo Guerrero, calling him incompetent and worthless. Also, earlier in the night Edge and Vickie engaged in a heated argument with Edge suggesting his wife find herself a good divorce lawyer. With all this turmoil, will Vickie decide to take out her frustrations on the superstars of Raw tonight?
