Raw Preview 09.14.09
Tonight's episode of Raw holds several huge stories, including the follow-up to last night's WWE Breaking Point Pay-Per-View. (See WWE Breaking Point results) Several Raw superstars were involved in the event, including The Miz, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, MVP, DX, Legacy, Randy Orton and John Cena. The "I Quit" match between John Cena and Randy Orton over the WWE Title, showcased The Viper in his coldest, most sinister form as he used handcuffs to try to extract pain from John Cena. Despite the use of restraints, steel chairs, canes and steel steps, Orton was unable to make Cena quit. It was Cena who regained momentum, ultimately locking the STF on Orton to make the champion quit. Now with Cena as the new WWE Champion, will Orton revoke his rematch clause on Raw, or will he have to wait until Hell in a Cell for his chance?
The heated feud between Legacy and D-Generation X turned to a new chapter last night as well. During their submissions count anywhere match, Legacy was able to survive an all-out brawl against D-Generation X in Montreal. The fight went outside the ring, into the crowd, on the ramp and backstage. In the end, it was Legacy who managed to knockout HHH backstage, and then attack Michaels 2 on 1 down in the ring area. Eventually, Rhodes locked a Figure Four leglock on HBK around a ringpost to make him tap out, right before HHH could save his partner. What will be next for this feud?
The other story of course is tonight's special guest host. Seven-time WWE Women's Champion and fan-favorite diva, Trish Stratus, will be in her home territory to host the show. Stratus will have full control of the show, as she gets to set up matches at her discretion. Clearly, Trish will want to arrange some great action for the fans, to give 100% Stratusfaction. What will Trish Stratus have in store for tonight's show? Will she be able to do as good a job hosting as previous guest hosts, including the Animal, Dave Batista?
Speaking of Batista, the Animal is scheduled to make a return appearance on WWE Raw. Batista has been out for months due to injury at the hands of Randy Orton and Legacy. Batista was the WWE Champion, but just one night after defeating Randy Orton, he was given a severe beatdown in the ring, during which Orton appeared to break his arm or shoulder. Due to this, Batista had to forfeit the title and Orton regained it. Batista returned later to host an episode of Raw, during which he made sure Orton had to face 3 opponents in a WWE gauntlet match. According to reports from WWE, Batista will be making a major announcement on tonight's show which concerns his career. Will Batista be making his retirement or proclaiming a return date to the wrestling ring?
