Smackdown Preview 09.25.09

On last week's Smackdown, General Manager Teddy Long made the shocking admission of guilt that he had in fact screwed the Undertaker out of the World Heavyweight Title at the Breaking Point Pay-Per-View. Long said the outcome was pre-planned and he did it out of fear of losing his job, due to pressures from his higher ups (Vince McMahon and others). Not only did Long confess to this, but so did the referee responsible for the match at the PPV event. Long made the announcement publicly to the WWE Universe, but he did so after Mr. McMahon requested the explanation be given. Teddy was surrounded by security and tried his best to apologize to the fans and the Undertaker. As Long attempted to leave the arena in his limousine, he was surprised at who his driver was. As Long told the driver to take off, he soon found out he was being given a ride to the darkside, by none other than the Undertaker. Taker told Teddy to "Buckle up" as the backseat filled with smoke. Despite Teddy's screams for help, the limo drove away with Long's fate unknown. Will we see Teddy Long reappear on tonight's episode of Smackdown? What will Undertaker's next move be with regards to CM Punk & the title?

Last week also saw the return to Smackdown for Batista. The Animal determined that it would be best for him to sign on to the Smackdown roster in search of competition, since his WWE contract was up. While the fans gave him a warm welcome to the show, another superstar soon emerged to let Batista know it was his show. Chris Jericho came to the ring, cocky as ever, to inform The Animal that he is just as injury prone as Edge. Jericho continued running his mouth until eventually he was on the receiving end of a Spinebuster. Later in the night the two wrestlers faced off for the main event, with Jericho telling his Unified tag team partner to stay backstage for the match. Jericho tried to handle The Animal on his own, but soon found he was too much to handle. Batista won with his usual aggressive style, ending Jericho with a Batista Bomb. At the end of the program though, Jericho's partner Big Show informed Josh Matthews that he'll give Batista a bigger challenge. Tonight Batista will face the gigantic Big Show. Which of these two superstars will prevail in this intense battle?

Finally, with Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View just about a week away, two of Smackdown's superstars are looking to gain the edge heading into the event. In the Intercontinental Title match, John Morrison will be defending against Dolph Ziggler. Morrison would seem to have the advantage after what went down over the past few weeks. First, Morrison won a match in the ring with Ziggler watching, then helped to entice the crowd into chanting "Mr. Ziggles" at him. If that wasn't enough, Michelle McCool and Layla devised a scheme to get Maria mad over Dolph possibly cheating. As Melina discovered the women's locker room plastered with pictures of Dolph and Michelle in a compromising position, Maria walked in. Maria doubted Melina's intentions and said she was done as her friend, leaving their friendship unknown at this point. With all this going on, will Ziggler be able to focus on his goal of winning the Intercontinental title?
