Extreme Rules 2010 PPV matches

The WWE's 2010 Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View will take place Sunday April 25, 2010 at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD. Extreme Rules features matches with special rules and stipulations. In the past, there's been ladder matches or street fights to determine titles or settle grudges. This year's event appears no different, as we already have several matches set up with extreme rules or circumstances. John and Batista look to do battle over the WWE title in a rematch from Wrestlemania 26. Also, the brand new World Champion Jack Swagger looks to defend his major title at the Pay-Per-View, but will he face one opponent or two?

Here's a look at the matches scheduled so far for the 2010 Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View:

Edge vs. Chris Jericho
Steel Cage match

Edge and Chris Jericho battled over the World Heavyweight title at Wrestlemania 26, with Jericho coming away the winner. That was after Jericho cheated with his championship belt and clocked Edge on the head with it. Following that match, we've seen several run-ins and matches involving these two. Not even a week later, Edge speared Jericho in the ring, which ultimately allowed Jack Swagger to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and win the World Title. This enraged Jericho and further fueled his hatred for Edge. Jericho and Edge fought to determine a #1 contender for Jack Swagger's title a week or so later, with it resulting in a double countout. They were both given a shot at the World title in a Triple Threat match, which Swagger was able to win. Now the two heated rivals Jericho and Edge will fight in a Steel Cage to determine who is best. Will Jericho hit the Codebreaker to defeat Edge, or will he be on the receiving end of another Spear?

Triple H vs. Sheamus
Street Fight

At Wrestlemania, Triple H showed Sheamus why "The Game" is one of the best in the business. However, Sheamus wasn't satisfied with the results of WM26 and felt it was time to up the ante. He attacked HHH from behind with a steel pipe on Raw while HHH was trying to deliver heartfelt words for his retiring friend Shawn Michaels. In later weeks, we've seen Sheamus destroy Kofi Kingston, but we've also seen HHH go after Sheamus with the sledgehammer, nearly taking off his head at the announcers table. These two are clearly on a huge collision course for this Sunday in a Street Fight. Sledgehammers and steel pipes will all be legal, but which will prevail? Will Triple H capture his second straight win over The Celtic Warrior, or will Sheamus make it "Game Over"?

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk

CM Punk wants to "save" Mysterio by inducting him into the Straightedge Society along with Luke Gallows and Serena. At Wrestlemania 26, Punk's plan to defeat Mysterio and make him the newest SES member failed. Punk was still determined to get Rey into Straightedge, so he put up an interesting "wager" for their rematch. Punk has agreed to allow his hair to be shaved off if Rey Mysterio defeats him again. On a recent episode of Smackdown, Punk tried to induct his WWE NXT rookie Darren Young into Straightedge with the clippers. However, it was Rey Mysterio who came to the ring to save Young from SES. Will Mysterio be able to defeat Punk again and shave Punk's locks off?

JTG vs. Shad
Strap match

Former Cryme Tyme partners Shad Gaspar and JTG will square off in a strap match during the Extreme Rules PPV. This match was one of the latest added to the card and has unique rules. Both men are attached to opposite ends of a long strap. The object is to be the first to touch all four corners of the ring consecutively before your opponent does. The two partners have become heated rivals, ever since Shad attacked JTG after a match. Shad had lost a tag team match to R-Truth and John Morrison in which JTG never even got a chance to enter the ring. In weeks past the two have been going after each other, with mixed results, and each gaining the upperhand. Who will be on the winning side as Shad and JTG face off in the Strap match at Extreme Rules?

Batista vs. John Cena
WWE Title Last Man Standing Match

After losing the WWE title to John Cena at Wrestlemania 26, The Animal Batista was none too pleased. After whining in the ring about his loss, John Cena offered Batista his rematch clause immediately on Raw. The Animal refused to take it on Cena's terms at that time, because he didn't want to give the fans the match they wanted that night. Instead, Batista made his rematch date publicly known on an episode of Raw guest hosted by David Otunga. Otunga, a WWE NXT rookie, booked himself and Cena to face The Miz and Big Show in a Unified Tag title match. However, when Cena went to Otunga for a tag, it was Otunga dropping off the apron and leaving Cena to fend for himself. After a Big Show knockout punch, Cena was down for the pinfall, and even worse, he was down for Batista to hit with a Batista Bomb. Following The Animal's heinous attack he announced to Cena that their rematch will go down at Extreme Rules, as a Last Man Standing match. Will The Animal reclaim the WWE title from Cena under these circumstances?

Randy Orton vs. Jack Swagger
Extreme Rules match for World Heavyweight title

Jack Swagger won the World title in surprise fashion on Smackdown when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on an already "speared-down" Chris Jericho. That gave way to Jericho wanting to regain his title and Edge wanting the title just as badly. Since Edge and Jericho had unfinished business from Wrestlemania 26, Smackdown GM Teddy Long booked them to go one-on-one to determine Swagger's #1 Contender for Extreme Rules. The match ended in a double countout. However, Raw's Randy Orton has come on strong in the past several months as top contender, pinning Swagger in 2 different matches. Due to that, Raw guest host David Hasselhoff announced that Orton should be the #1 Contender and take on Swagger at Extreme Rules. The match was set up as an Extreme Rules match, in which anything goes. Will Orton be able to capture the World Heavyweight title again, or will Jack Swagger prove why he's deserving of the title?

Check back as more matches will be added as they become known. Extreme Rules 2010 PPV results will be posted here the night of Sunday April 25th, 2010 from 8PM EST to 11PM EST when the Pay-Per-View has officially ended.
