Raw Results 07/05/10

Raw Results from Nashville, TN:

All of the members of The Nexus were standing side-by-side in the ring as Raw opened. Michael Cole said they're awaiting their fate from the anonymous Raw GM. Wade Barrett stepped forward with the mic. Barrett said he was told via email by the new GM to assemble the Nexus for the appropriate consequences. He said they can't reveal why they did what they needed to do right now to Mr. McMahon, because it's all part of a much bigger picture. Barrett said Vince thought he controlled them, but that's not the case.

Skip Sheffield stepped forward to talk about Ricky Steamboat and the legends. Sheffield said last week's beating of them was for fun, because they exploited a loophole in the GM's orders. Sheffield said the fans loved every second of what they did. He said they generated more interest in Steamboat's DVD after the attack, so he should be thanking them all. Just then, the computer sounded and Cole said he just received a new email. The GM made a decision on the Nexus' punishment for assaulting Vince McMahon. He said none of the Nexus can compete for a WWE Title until further notice. Cole added that the ruling Nexus stars can't touch WWE Superstars and vice versa has been lifted.

The Nexus stars began looking around in the ring. Soon, John Cena's music sounded and he walked out onto the ramp with a mic. The Nexus prepared for battle but Cena stopped on the stage. Cena said they've done a lot so far, except get themselves into a fair fight. Cena said that means 7-on-7. Out came Evan Bourne, R-Truth, Hart Dynasty, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, The Miz and John Morrison. They began to storm the ring, but then got attacked from behind by Sheamus, Edge, the Usos and Ted Dibiase.

The Nexus fled from the ring without getting touched. Cena screamed at the heels as they got up the ramp. Sheamus got on the mic it seems the Nexus keeps taking out Cena. He said everyone on the stage supports that move. Sheamus said he and the others with him respectfully decline. Orton took the mic and told Sheamus he and Cena were never friends and may never be, but Nexus is a serious threat to everyone. Orton said if they can't take out Nexus they'll finish off the seven guys up on the ramp.

Another email came through just then. Cole said the GM said "don't think about fighting, because all 8 members of the MITB ladder match for the PPV will be against each other in a series of matches." Later tonight, John Cena will get in the ring with Wade Barrett, but not to fight, but to shake hands Cena got on the mic instead how about he makes a fist and knocks the guy's teeth out. Another email came in and Cole said the new GM wants Cena to be the bigger man, but if not his actions will be met with appropriate consequences, and "that's the bottom line because the GM said so."

As Raw returned, Jerry Lawler announced that the YouTube.com/WWE channel is now open. It will feature all sorts of full-screen and HD clips of wrestling action from Raw, Superstars, Smackdown, NXT and more.

John Morrison vs. Ted Dibiase

Two members of the 2010 Money in the Bank Raw ladder match would meet in the first match of the evening. Dibiase was escorted to the ring by WWE Diva Maryse. Maryse sat next to Lawler at the commentators table. Maryse chastised Cole for calling her a golddigger. She said her and Ted love each other, plus she loves money and he's rich.

In the match, Morrison took control using a heel kick as Dibiase came off the ropes. Dibiase recovered and hit a scoop slam for a near fall. Maryse took a cell phone call while on commentary. Cole asked who it was and Maryse said none of your business. In the ring, Dibiase and Morrison were both down from a move. Maryse grabbed Morrison's fur coat near ringside and put it on. She got on the apron to distract the ref. Dibiase raked Morrison's eye, then eventually hit Dream Street for the win. Maryse took the fur coat off and threw it on top of Morrison on the mat.

Winner: Ted Dibiase wins via pinfall over John Morrison.

Backstage, Santino Marella was walking with Vladimir Kozlov. Santino said they're going to be the best tag team ever together. Kozlov said to him that if they lose tonight he'll put his fist in Santino's face.

Cole and Lawler brought up the Nexus attacks on John Cena then said later tonight there is to be a John Cena-Wade Barrett truce in the ring.

WWE Slam of the Week showed last week's Kozlov vs Santino match. Kozlov won it quickly. After the match, William Regal headed to the ring to attack Santino. Kozlov rushed down to get rid of Regal and then carried Santino backstage.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov vs. William Regal & The Great hali

Regal came out with a mic in hand to tell Santino and Kozlov he'll do whatever it takes to run them into the ground. Cole noted how lately Khali and Singh have been at odds, with Sing wanting Khali to be more aggressive.

Santino threw some kicks to the air to try to get Regal to fight. Regal just watched him. Santino wound up the Cobra and went for it, but Regal took him down. Santino managed to get a tag to bring in Kozlov. Kozlov took control and planted Regal into the mat with his finisher. Khali never was involved in the match, but he stepped into the ring. Khali told Santino and Kozlov to stand Regal up. Khali gave a chop to Regal's head to take him down. Singh got in the ring and started up the dancing. Santino joined in but Kozlov stood back shaking his head.

Winners: Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella win via pinfall over William Regal and The Great Khali.

Jerry Lawler talked about the attack from Nexus last week on Ricky Steamboat. Lawler said their actions were those of punks not professionals. They rolled the highlight footage of the beatdown in the ring last week involving Arn Anderson, Michael "PS" Hayes, Dean Malenko, Mike Rotundo and Jerry Lawler. Six members of The Nexus arrived to the ring and beat them all up. Steamboat was taken out on a stretcher after a series of moves were done on him.

Josh Matthews interviewed Arn Anderson backstage about the status of Ricky Steamboat. Anderson said it's hard to watch that and live through. Anderson said doctors are saying Ricky's condition is serious. Sheamus walked up behind him, so Anderson told Matthews he might want to leave. Sheamus told Anderson he used to be the enforcer but now he's a pathetic old man. Anderson gave him a speech to put aside his differences with the others and protect the company because even he's not safe. Sheamus said Nexus knows not to interfere with him. Anderson said if Sheamus doesn't get together with the others he might find himself in trouble in a month or so. Sheamus kept saying he's the WWE Champ and Anderson told him "you just don't get it".

R-Truth vs. The Miz

After R-Truth finished his rap song, The Miz came down the rap to Truth's theme song and did his own little rap about how he'll be the winner of Money in the Bank. Miz started his "I'm the Miz and I'm Awesome" line in the ring then clocked R-Truth in the ring with the mic. He continued the attack outside the ring too with the match never starting.

Miz kept attacking Truth on the outside, then put him on the apron. Miz stepped on Truth's left arm/shoulder then snapped it back across the rope. Truth fell to the outside while Miz sat on the mat watching. WWE staff attended to Truth on the outside and helped him up to walk up the ramp. Miz got on the mic saying "the Truth hurts, but right now it probably hurts a lot". Miz said it will happen to every single person who steps in the ring with him, he's going to make it hurt. The Miz said "that's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth because I'm the Miz, and I'm Awesome."

Winner: No contest match never started.

They showed a replay of what happened between The Miz and R-Truth before break.

Edge arrived to the ring for his show "The Cutting Edge". Edge asked for a moment of silence for R-Truth, who only knew one song but he did it oh so well. Edge talked about being smarter than Randy Orton and every once else there. Edge said why make 7 enemies with Nexus when he can make 7 powerful allies. Edge said he can provide leadership for them. Edge reminded fans that he's won the MITB ladder match twice. He said neither of his two guests have ever done that. Edge introduced Evan Bourne, but instead he got Chris Jericho who came out.

Jericho arrived to the ring to Edge's surprise. He said he won't take a backseat to Evan Bourne, the fans or Edge. Jericho said Edge is shamelessly pandering to Nexus, but Jericho reminded him he was Wade Barrett's mentor on NXT season 1. Edge said why would they listen to a guy who can't beat Evan Bourne. Jericho reminded him he defeated Edge at WM26. Edge said MITB is his match and all he needs to do is cash in on the champion at the right moment. Jericho said Edge has always wanted to be him during his career, by getting long hair, winning a title, and getting his own talk show. Jericho said he can't be replaced though in WWE.

Jericho kept going on so Edge punched him down, then set up a ladder in the corner. Edge tried to whip Jericho into it, but Jericho countered and put him into Walls of Jericho. Evan Bourne rushed to the ring and did a springboard double knee jump onto Jericho. He was able to elude both men from the corner, then did a rolling flip move out through the ropes. Edge and Jericho yelled at Bourne to get back in the ring. Just then the email sound dinged, and Cole had another email from the GM. The GM ordered that Chris Jericho and Edge team up to face Evan Bourne and Randy Orton in a match, right now. Orton arrived out for the match. He and Bourne got in the ring as Edge/Jericho stepped to the outside.

Evan Bourne & Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho & Edge

Edge and Orton had control of things in the ring after a commercial break. Edge kept Bourne down with a submission hold, while Bourne tried to fight out of it. Evan started using kicks, until Edge grabbed him and slammed him to the mat. Edge had a near fall following the move. Jericho tagged in to continue punishing Bourne.

Bourne finally escaped from a suplex attempt by kneeing Edge in the face then jumping up and kicking Edge down. Both men were down, but crawled over and made tags. Jericho teased not tagging, but then did so. Orton came in on fire and hit the scoop slam on Orton. He got Jericho up on the middle ropes for the DDT faceplant move. Orton dropped down and pounded on the mat ready to strike. Edge got in behind him to attack, but Orton turned to punch him down. Jericho took advantage of the distraction to take Orton down. Edge soon tagged in.

In the final moments of the contest, Bourne and Jericho were legal and both were down on the mat. Edge was in the corner and looked to be ready to Spear Bourne when he got up. Instead, Edge speared Jericho down then left him alone in the ring. Bourne climbed the corner and hit Air Bourne on Jericho for the win.

Bourne was celebrating the victory around the ring with Orton just standing there. Bourne stood near Orton, and finally The Viper turned him around and hit the RKO quickly. Orton smirked about it with Bourne face down.

Winners: Randy Orton & Evan Bourne win via pinfall over Chris Jericho & Edge.

Randy Orton was shown walking backstage when he came upon David Otunga, Heath Slater and Michael Tarver. They said they just wanted to talk, but Orton said they cost him a title opportunity at Fatal 4Way. Otunga and Tarver said it was the best time to make a statement against WWE management. He brought up depending on how the truce goes tonight, Cena might be in a very vulnerable position once the cage match ends at MITB. Otunga told Orton that they can make sure there isn't a new champion based on who wins MITB ladder match. He told Orton to think about that next time Cena tries to recruit him against Nexus. Orton said he heard what they had to say then told them to get out of his face.

Cole and Lawler said they'll be part of a Raw/Smackdown SuperShow tomorrow night at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. They discussed the Money in the Bank PPV for 2 weeks away in Kansas City. Cole noted due to the injury R-Truth suffered earlier, he will no longer be in the RAW MITB match. They brought up the two MITB matches then the title matches: Rey Mysterio defending the World Title against Swagger and Cena vs Sheamus in a steel cage.

Josh Matthews was backstage he said during their last commercial break the Raw GM sent another email about another title match for MITB. He said Jimmy and Jey Uso will have a title match against Hart Dynasty in 2 weeks. The Usos joined Matthews for an interview. Jimmy and Jey ran a game on Josh saying he couldn't tell which of them was which. They said in 2 weeks Matthews and Hart Dynasty will know what they're all about. The Usos walked off with Matthews thanking them, but Divas champ Alicia Fox walked up and tapped Matthews on the shoulder. Alicia asked why she hasn't been interviewed once since winning the Divas title. Alicia said it wasn't a fluke that she won the title at Fatal 4Way and people better watch what she does to Eve in the next match.

Eve Torres vs. Alicia Fox
Divas Title match

Eve landed a series of dropkicks early to take down Alicia. At one point Alicia fell down clutching her ankle. The ref pulled Eve away so he could check on Alicia. Eve said Alicia's faking. Alicia stood up in the corner still acting like she was in pain. The ref asked if she wanted the match called off. She said no, and Eve rushed at her. Alicia gave her a hard knee in the face, then did her running legdrop to the back of Eve's head for the win.

Winner: Alicia Fox wins via pinfall over Eve Torres to retain the Divas Title.

Next week, Edge and Randy Orton will face off in a match.

Wade Barrett the leader of Nexus arrived to the ring for the truce with John Cena. Barrett got on the mic saying that everything going on with Nexus right now has had a purpose. He said Cena just happened to get caught in the middle of it several times. He called Cena out to shake hands for a truce. Cena arrived out looking around for other Nexus members, then made his way to the ring.

Barrett told Cena he's not in their future plans despite all the problems they caused him. Barrett said he wants to look to the future and move forward, so they should shake hands. Barrett said the Nexus 7 will be there for a long, long time and can make Cena's life easy or harder. Cena said if they shake hands right now this will stop and Barrett seemed to agree. Cena said the anonymous GM wanted to do the truce, but asked Barrett if he wants to do the truce. Cena said he needs Barrett's word on it, that if they shake hands this stops. Barrett seemed to agree with it.

Cena offered a handshake, and Barrett prepared to shake, but Cena pulled his hand away. He said why stop when they're having so much fun? He said looking to the future with Nexus running rampant over WWE Raw, but he doesn't see that happening. Cena said the future is he takes down all of the Nexus one by one, by himself or with help. Barrett told Cena what they did to him in the past is nothing compared to what Nexus can do to him in the future. He said they've taken out former GM Bret Hart and company chairman Vince McMahon. He warned Cena to shake his hand or else he'll face severe consequences.

Cena thought about it, then walked over and grasped Barrett's hand. He pulled Barrett right up to him then put him on his shoulders for Attitude Adjustment. Just then, the rest of Nexus stormed the ring to attack Cena together. Evan Bourne rushed down to help Cena but got attacked too. Next, John Morrison came down but he was soon taken down. Mark Henry, Great Khali, Goldust, Kozlov, Santino and Hart Dynasty came to the ring to attack Nexus.

Nexus retreated up the ramp, leaving Darren Young in the ring. Just then, the email noise sounded and Cole had another email to read. He said the GM has noted "I wanted peace, so if things don't stop now, there will be consequences." Cena grabbed Darren Young and put a STF on him in the ring. Another email came through telling Cena because of what he just did he'll face all 7 members of Nexus next week in a 7-on-1 handicap match.

Darren Young got to the ropes, but Cena rushed over and attacked him more. He kept beating up Darren Young, whipping him to the corner and clotheslining him down hard. Lawler said Cena's got nothing to lose now. Cena paced around looking at Young, then stood him up, tossing him into the ringpost shoulder first. Young fell to the outside of the ring holding his arm. Cena wasn't done though as he went to the outside and took off the top part of the steps then threw it at Darren Young. Cena was fuming mad and tossed Young across the commentators table. He pushed the table over on Young then rushed into the ring posing on the corner to end Raw.
