Raw Results 09/27/10

Raw Results from 09/27/10:

Raw opened with highlights from last week when The Miz and his new assistant Alex Riley attacked Daniel Bryan, leaving him brutally layed out in the ring. Commentator said Hell in a Cell is just six nights away from now. In the main event on Raw tonight, Randy Orton goes one-on-one against Chris Jericho. If Jericho wins he becomes #1 Contender for the WWE Title.

The Miz arrived out with Alex Riley to announce that Daniel Bryan has challenged him and Riley to a tag team match tonight. He started talking about how every Monday night, Bryan gets a beatdown. Miz started to say his trademark phrase, but was interrupted as Daniel Bryan's new theme music came on. Bryan arrived to the ring with the US Title. Miz asked him who he could possibly partner with that knows how to wrestle against Miz. Just then, John Morrison's music hit and he came to the ring, joining Bryan for the match.

John Morrison & Daniel Bryan vs. Alex Riley & The Miz

At one point, Miz had control against Morrison and tried to prevent a tag. He grabbed Morrison's leg to stop him from reaching over to tag Bryan, but Morrison turned and kicked Miz away, then made the tag. Bryan rushed across the ring to dropkick Riley off the apron. He took control against the Miz as Morrison was trying to stand up on the apron. Bryan went for the Labelle Lock but couldn't get Miz down to the mat. Miz countered by tossing Bryan into Morrison on the apron, then hitting Skullcrushing Finale for the win.

Miz was about to leave after the win, but decided to turn back and go after Bryan. Morrison came into the ring to make the save. Bryan started going after The Miz ferociously outside the ring. Morrison tried to pull Bryan away, but got punched down. Eventually, Morrison, Bryan and Miz were all fighting each other. The lights flashed for a new email from the GM announcing that Bryan will defend the US Title against Miz and Morrison at Hell in a Cell in a Submissions Count Anywhere match.

Winners: The Miz & Alex Riley win via pinfall over Daniel Bryan & John Morrison.

Battle Royal to determine Divas Championship #1 Contender

All of Raw's divas were in a battle royal to determine who would be #1 contender for Team LayCool's Divas Championship. It involved, Melina, Gail Kim, Tamina, Bella Twins, Alicia Fox, Natalya, Maryse, Jillian and Eve Torres. Surprisingly, Melina was out first. Next up, Tamina eliminated Gail Kim. Eve managed to hang onto the ropes and kicked Tamina to the outside. The Bellas tried for a double slide dropkick to take out Alicia and Jillian. Both divas moved away so the Bellas were eliminated.

It came down to Natalya, Alicia Fox and Jillian. The two heel divas tried to toss Natalya out and thought they had, but Natalya held onto the bottom rope staying on the apron. Alicia got kicked by Jillian, but turned things around to toss Jillian out. In the final moments Natalya backdropped Alicia out over the top rope to win it. LayCool looked worried at who had won the match as Natalya taunted them from in the ring.

Winner: Natalya wins the Battle Royal to become #1 Contender for the Divas Championship.

They showed a video package of the various promotional interviews John Cena did for "Legendary" including Jimmy Fallon's Show and 106 & Park on BET. The movie arrives to DVD exclusively at WalMart on Tuesday.

A highlight was shown of Dibiase and Maryse losing last week's match to R-Truth and Eve. The couple argued about the loss but then a strange message with romantic music appeared on the Titantron saying "I Will Have You" and seeming to be directed at Maryse.

Maryse and Dibiase were backstage, with Maryse asking if he saw that Eve just cost her the Battle Royal win. Dibiase complained about how she lost the match last week. Maryse tried to say it was Dibiase's fault. Just then a knock came at the door and a note was slid underneath. Dibiase rushed over to open the door, seeing nobody there. He gave the note to Maryse and she read it saying "Next week you will be mine." She handed Dibiase the note and walked out.

Former WWE Champ Sheamus came to the ring to talk to the crowd. He told an old Irish fable/tale about two princes having to race to a castle to become new king. He said one prince was losing the race badly so he cut off his own hand and threw it at the kingdom, reaching it first and winning, despite being badly bruised. Sheamus likened that to the Hell in a Cell with Orton, saying he's willing to make the sacrifice to win back the WWE Title. From there, Sheamus called out anyone from the locker room to come challenge him. Raw went to break with Sheamus waiting for an opponent.

The Great Khali vs. Sheamus

Khali arrived out to answer the challenge, and stared down Sheamus. As the bell rang, Sheamus went to shove Khali with little effect. Khali brought him to the corner for a hand slap to the chest. Sheamus managed to ground Khali quick though and launched a vicious attack, including a kick to Khali's head to knock him out of the ring. Sheamus went outside to continue attacking Khali. Sheamus began to rip apart the commentator table and tossed the cover and both chairs at Khali. The ref called for the bell for a DQ.

Sheamus kept the attack going. Khali tried to strike at Sheamus near the ringpost, but Sheamus returned with a Rogue kick to take him down. He delivered a second kick to Khali's skull then let out a primal scream as Khali layed on the ground. A closeup of Sheamus' chest showed a handprint from Khali's earlier chest slap.

Winner: Great Khali wins due to disqualification of Sheamus.

Edge presents 'The Cutting Edge'

Edge's guest for tonight's show was to be the Anonymous Raw GM. In the ring already were the podium and the laptop computer that Michael Cole receives the Raw GM's emails on. Edge said they were using a special voice to protect the identity of the GM. A geeky computer voice was used. Edge insulted the GM and asked why it hates him so much. The computer asked Edge why he despises the Raw GM so much. Edge became irate that he was arguing with a computer. Ultimately, the Raw GM told Edge he booked him for a match against...John Cena. Cena arrived out for the match right then.

John Cena vs. Edge

Wade Barrett and Nexus watched the match backstage to scout Cena. Edge really dominated this one but Cena made a comeback towards the end. He went for a bulldog from the corner, but Edge countered and managed to come back with a Spear to take down Cena for a pinfall.
Edge's music played and Edge celebrated a win. The Raw GM sent forth an email and then spoke in its geeky robot voice telling Edge that Cena's foot was clearly under the ropes on the pin, so the match will restart. Edge began to pound away on Cena over near the ropes. Edge went for another Spear moments later, but Cena countered it and took him down for the STF. Edge crawled towards the ropes, but Cena got up and pulled him back to center ring, then secured the STF on him. Edge tried to withstand it but finally had to tap out.

Post-match, Edge got out of the ring staring at the laptop angrily. The computer spoke telling Edge he lost fair and square. The computer told him to just walk away. Edge started to, but then stopped and got a crazed look on his face. He went back and knocked over the podium, then broke the laptop in half using a steel chair. Edge snapped and kept attacking the laptop, aka the Raw GM.

Winner: John Cena wins via submission against Edge.

Mark Henry & Evan Bourne vs. Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel

Wade Barrett, David Otunga and Michael Tarver were at ringside for Nexus. At one point, Bourne prepared for Air Bourne, but a distraction allowed Gabriel to knock Bourne off the corner. Slater went outside to beat up Mark Henry. Meanwhile in the ring, Gabriel went for his 450 Splash, but missed as Bourne moved away. Bourne was able to recover then climbed to the top rope and hit Air Bourne on him. He had the pin, but Heath Slater rushed over and ducked under the bottom rope to push Gabriel. The shift allowed Gabriel to roll through and take the pinfall on Bourne.

Nexus beatdown Mark Henry outside the ring before turning their attention to Bourne on the inside. Each Nexus member did their finisher on Bourne. Barrett did Wasteland, then Gabriel did the 450 Splash. Barrett called for a microphone saying after Hell in a Cell, Cena will no longer be against them. Barrett said it's not like they need Cena for their purposes, but he will help them attack the upper eschelon of the WWE. Otunga said on Friday they're going to take a little trip over to Smackdown, but they're giving all the superstars an advanced warning. Tarver spoke next, ripping off his bandana from his face yelling "None of you can stop us!"

Winners: Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel win via pinfall over Mark Henry & Evan Bourne.

Cole and Lawler announced that next week, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville will host Raw.

The Hart Dynasty vs. Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes
WWE Tag Team Championship Match

On this past Friday's Smackdown, McIntyre removed the corner turnbuckle cover to drop Kidd face first on the exposed steel. He delivered the FutureShock DDT for the win.

Late in the contest, DH Smith and Rhodes were legal. The action broke down with McIntyre/Kidd fighting to the outside. In the ring, DH gained control and hoisted Rhodes in a bear hug to set up Hart Attack. Kidd tried for a springboard clothesline from the top rope, but McIntyre shoved him. Smith got stunned by it all. Rhodes managed to quickly hit Cross Rhodes for the win.

Winners: Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes win via pinfall over The Hart Dynasty.

R-Truth talked to John Cena in the locker room suggesting he has his back for Sunday. He told Cena he knows how reckless Cena is. Truth and Cena agreed to stop by Smackdown this Friday on SyFy as well. Cole and Lawler ran down the card for this Sunday's Hell in a Cell PPV which also includes The Undertaker vs Kane Hell in a Cell for the World Title.

Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho

Jericho arrived out prior to break to promote his new DVD and talk about how he plans to cut off the head of the serpent ("The Viper") tonight.

Sheamus arrived down the ramp to watch the match, scouting his opponent for Hell in a Cell. Jericho missed on a running boot to Orton and got caught on the ropes. Orton tried for a comeback with the RKO, but Jericho countered for a near fall backslide pin.

The match continued but Sheamus got involved. Orton went ballistic and attacked, with the ref calling for the bell. Orton managed to DDT Sheamus off the middle rope, then prepared for a running punt kick. As he went for it, Jericho struck though and hit the Codebreaker to bring down Orotn. Jericho retrieved a steel chair and prepared to bash Orton with it. Orton avoided the chair shot, then turned and hit the RKO to drop Jericho to the mat.

From there, Orton backed up to the corner to measure Jericho for a punt kick. He rushed over and kicked Jericho in the head, leaving him down on the mat. Sheamus watched from ringside as EMT's and WWE personnel came to take Jericho away on a stretcher. Orton smirked as Sheamus took in what happened.

Winner: Randy Orton wins due to disqualification when Sheamus interfered.
