Smackdown Results 06/29/12

Smackdown Results for 06/29/12:

Layla defeated AJ by pinfall.  Daniel Bryan came out doing his "YES" chant, which caused a distraction to AJ, allowing Layla to get the win.  After the match, Bryan asked Vickie Guerrero to come out and ban AJ from ringside for his WWE title match at MITB against CM Punk.  Instead, Vickie assigns AJ as the guest referee for the match.

Vickie Guerrero also announced that over the next two weeks, there will be Smackdown qualifying matches for Money in the Bank's World Championship MITB match.  Those who qualify for this MITB match are competing for the World Heavyweight Championship match contract at the PPV ladder match.

Damien Sandow defeated Zack Ryder by pinfall and qualified for the MITB match.  Late in the match, Ryder went for the Rough Ryder but Sandow dodged the finisher and then hit his own neckbreaker finisher on Zack for a pin.

Tyson Kidd defeated Jack Swagger by pinfall to qualify for the MITB match.  Late in this one, Kidd was able to escape Swagger's ankle lock submission, and kicked Swagger in the side of his head.  Kidd followed up with a Blockbuster from off the top rope for the win.

Santino Marella and Christian defeated Cody Rhodes and David Otunga by pinfall to both qualify for the MITB match.  A brawl broke down towards the end of this one.  Otunga was the legal man and accidentally hit Rhodes.  Otunga sent Santino out of the ring, but Christian was ready with a Spear for the win.

Ryback defeated Dan Barone and Brendan Burke by pinfall in a 2-on-1 handicap match.  Ryback hit a powerbomb on Burke, then clotheslined down Barone, before he did his finisher on both guys at once to end it.

Backstage, Teddy Long comes up on Aksana and Antonio Cesaro making out.  He says he has no ill will towards them or their relationship, then says he gets to be the GM of Raw and Smackdown for next week.  Aksana tries to flirt with Teddy, but he brushes it off.  He announces that Layla and The Great Khali will take on Aksana and Antonio Cesaro on Tuesday's live episode of SmackDown.

Lord Tensai defeated Justin Gabriel by pinfall to qualify for the MITB match.  Gabriel mounted some impressive offensive towards the end including a springboard moonsault for a two count.  He tried multiple kicks on Tensai, but it wasn't doing all that much.  Eventually, Tensai caught Gabriel as he came from the middle rope, then hit a two-handed chokeslam on him.  Tensai finished things with a backsplash.

The following wrestlers will be part of the MITB match (for World Heavyweight Championship contract) at the Money in the Bank PPV: Damien Sandow, Christian, Santino Marella, Tyson Kidd, Lord Tensai.  There will be more qualifying next week.

Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio by pinfall in the Triple Threat match to retain the World Championship.  Late in this one, Del Rio hit his Enziguiri Kick to send Ziggler off the apron.  ADR then applied the Cross Armbreaker on Sheamus, who struggled to get to the ropes but couldn't.  Ziggler was back in to break things up.  Ziggler hit one of his trademark moves for a two count.  Ricardo Rodriguez got on the apron to try to root on ADR, but Ziggler rammed Del Rio into Rodriguez and then tried to get a quick rollup pinfall.  Sheamus connected on a Brogue Kick on Ziggler, tossed Del Rio out of the ring, and pinned Dolph for the win.  Post-match, Sheamus was alone in the ring to show off the championship belt.  Next Smackdown comes live on Tuesday night.
