Raw Results 07/01/13

Raw Results from Sioux City, IA:

Vickie Guerrero was shown backstage on camera then made a huge main event match announcement: a champion vs. champion match featuring WWE Champion John Cena vs. World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio (non-title).

Daniel Bryan came out to the ring to start the show, talking about how he can no longer be called the weak link after making Orton tap out.  He talked about wanting to be a WWE champion in the tradition of Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock and Bruno Sammartino.  Bryan said he won MITB two years ago and it's been way too long since he's been champion.  Sheamus came out to interrupt, reminding Bryan how quickly he defeated him for that title at WrestleMania.  They bantered a bit, before Randy Orton came out to interrupt, saying he's been "starving" for the title for two years now.

Kane came out next, saying he has no problem committing unspeakable acts, even on friends (meaning D-Bryan).  Bryan brought up how Kane couldn't beat Orton recently.  Kane and Bryan got into an argument, until Christian came out to interrupt.  Christian said while he's not biggest, strongest, scariest or hairiest guy in this MITB ladder match, he is "without a doubt, the Best."  That brought out CM Punk.  Punk came out saying he wasn't going to do the predictable thing and interrupt, but when he heard the word "Best" he had to.

Punk talked about how nobody can touch him in this ring.  He brought up RVD, who wasn't there, saying he's sure he's at home watching and strategizing how he can win.  Punk started to address each of the superstars in the ring, with Bryan interrupting saying he's sick of Punk running them all down saying he's better than them.  Bryan vowed to make Punk tap out quicker than Orton did last week.  Orton told Bryan he warned him, and started to walk towards him, but Kane got in the way.

D-Bryan yelled at Kane that he doesn't need him to fight his battles.  Orton used the distraction to spin Kane around and drop him with an RKO.  Eventually, everyone left the ring except Bryan who checked on Kane.

The Shield defeated Christian & The Usos via pinfall.  Late in the match, all six men were brawling with Christian going for the Killswitch on Ambrose but Ambrose shoving him off.  Rollins smashed Christian from the ring apron, and then Ambrose took the pinfall on Christian for the win.  Shield left through the crowd as Christian and Usos looked frustrated in the ring.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan went to Kane in the locker room saying he talked to Vickie Guerrero and got him a rematch tonight against Orton.  Kane calmed down after what happened earlier in the ring, until Bryan let him know that he was named special referee.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Jinder Mahal via pinfall.  Ziggler was able to hit a Zig-Zag on Mahal late in this one to pick up the win.  Post-match, 3MB tried to corner Ziggler, but he dodged them all with his athleticism, then stood tall on the announcers' table.

Triple H walked in on Vickie as she was mocking the McMahon's always telling her what to do.  Hunter told her to keep going making the comments like that about his family.  He then complimented her great decision for the champion vs champion match tonight.  Vickie told HHH she keeps hearing other things from the other McMahon's.  Triple H told her to keep listening to him and she'll be just fine.

Kane defeated Randy Orton due to disqualification.  With Bryan as special referee, he warned Orton at one point that he would DQ him.  Another altercation happened in the corner, with Bryan ultimately shoving Orton and saying "That's enough" before calling for the bell to DQ him.  He tried to raise Kane's hand after the bell, but Kane said he doesn't want to win that way.  Orton demanded he re-start the match, so Bryan did so.

Kane defeated Randy Orton via pinfall.  Late in this restarted match, Orton was gaining control, with Bryan pacing around nervously.  Orton was going to go for an RKO, but Bryan got in his way.  Kane was able to deliver a big boot to Orton's face, then covered him.  Bryan made a super fast 3 count to give Kane the win.  Post-match, Kane said to D-Bryan that it wasn't a proper three count.  Bryan told him he wouldn't have won without his help.  Kane grabbed him by the throat for a chokeslam, but backed off and left him in the ring.  Bryan turned around and got hit by the RKO from Orton.  Michael Cole said things are getting volatile heading towards MITB PPV.

Back in the locker room, Paul Heyman was shown standing between CM Punk and Curtis Axel.  Punk told Axel to just stay on the apron and watch him beat PTP by himself.  Heyman tried to change the discussion, but then Punk said he trusts Heyman but not Axel.  Heyman told Punk he needs to trust him with Axel.

Sheamus defeated Fandago via count out.  Late in this one, Sheamus gained control and hit the repeated forearm bashes to Fandango's chest, causing him to fall off the ring apron to the outside.  Summer Rae came over to check on him.  Fandango decided he'd had enough of the match and walked up the entrance ramp to get counted out.

The Miz defeated Ryback due to referee stoppage.  Chris Jericho joined the commentary for this match and kept up his "Cryback" suggestions and taunts about Ryback.  Late in the match, Miz was able to put Ryback's leg in the ropes and keep dropkicking it.  Ryback demanded the referee stop the match.  Jericho said that Cryback just waved off his own match.

Mark Henry came to the ring and delivered a promo talking about all the years he spent trying to do the right thing for "the business," but how they always kept him away from the big title.  He said at MITB they won't keep him down anymore, and he will not be denied.  He promised to win the WWE title off Cena.  He asked for the camera to get a close up then sent Cena a message saying "at Money in the Bank, I'm going to beat yo a--!"

Vince McMahon payed a visit to Vickie and Brand Maddox backstage.  He talked about Bryan's role as special referee tonight, then brought up Vickie's main event and how she's giving it away for free. He grumbled that they don't understand business.  Vince then mentioned there's been a long list of people who got thrown out of WWE for not listening to him or doing what he said.  Vince told Vickei and Brad to enjoy the rest of their day, before walking off.

CM Punk and Curtis Axel defeated Prime Time Players via pinfall.  Early in the match, Axel tagged himself in, causing Punk to get frustrated.  The PTPer's gained an advantage against Axel and did some double teaming for a bit.  Axel finally broke away to make a tag to Punk who came in with plenty of offense on D-Young.  Punk hit his Macho Man tribute elbow off the corner, then delivered a GTS on D-Young.  Punk cleared Titus O'Neil out of the ring, but then Axel tagged Punk to get in.  He delivered a finisher on D-Young and took the winning pinfall, upsetting Punk.  Post-match, Heyman celebrated the win with Axel and encouraged Punk to join them.  Punk looked annoyed and didn't, causing Heyman to shrug it off, despite still wanting Punk to celebrate with them.

Kaitlyn defeated Alicia Fox via pinfall.  Layla was ringside to support Kaitlyn.  Cole said she's been making sure Kaitlyn doesn't "go off the deep end" with all the mind games AJ is playing. Kaitlyn hit a spear in under 2 minutes to win this one.  AJ and Big E Langston came out onto the stage after the match, with AJ taunting Kaitlyn.  AJ had a fake picture put up on the screen of Kaitlyn looking like she weighed 500 lbs.  AJ said it was from Kaitlyn's modeling days before she became a diva.  She said she wanted to remind Kaitlyn were she is going after she loses the Divas title match at MITB PPV.  Cole talked about Dolph Ziggler telling AJ on the WWE app to lay off her digs towards Kaitlyn.

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon walked in on Brad and Vickie talking.  Steph asked why Vickie was checking emails rather than watching the show.  Vickie got flustered saying her head is about to exploded with her, Vince and Triple H all breathing down her neck.  Stephanie said she understands how tough the job can be when you're getting confusing directions from the top.  Vickie thanked her for understanding, then said Vince and HHH seem so crazy lately.  Stephanie told her to stop dogging her father and husband.  She reminded Vickie she is there in a business sense, not to be her girlfriend.  She told Vickie she'll have a Job Evaluation in the ring next week, where Vickie can be promoted, or lose her job.

Antonio Cesaro defeated Cody Rhodes via pinfall.  Sandow was ringside for Rhodes.  Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger were ringside for Cesaro.  During the match, a brawl happened on the outside, with Cesaro able to get the upper hand back inside the ring.  Cesaro hit the Neutralizer to get the win.  Sandow looked stunned that Rhodes lost, then got in the ring post-match to ask Cody what went wrong.  Zeb Colter celebrated with his men outside the ring.

The Bellas were backstage talking when divas Eva Marie and Jo-Jo showed up (also part of "Total Divas" on E!).  The Bellas told them they were "special in their own weird way, then said the divas show wouldn't even be on the air if the Bellas hadn't returned to WWE.  Cameron, Naomi and Natalya all came in and confronted the Bellas for being so arrogant.  Brie talked about needing to let the other divas who runs this show.  The Bellas walked off, with Natalya conversing with the other 3 divas about what was just said.

John Cena defeated Alberto Del Rio via pinfall in a champion vs. champion, non-title match.  Late in this one, Cena went for the AA, but Del Rio countered to the Cross Arm-breaker.  Cena countered it by rolling into the STF hold.  All of a sudden, Mark Henry came walking down to the ringside area.  The distraction allowed Del Rio to kick Cena in the head and get a near fall.  Out of nowhere, Ziggler came rushing to the ring.  He shouted at Del Rio, which gave Cena the chance to put Del Rio up for the AA and connect, then score the winning pinfall.

Post-match, Ziggler laughed outside the ring about what happened to Del Rio.  Henry grabbed the WWE Title and brought it into the ring to give Cena.  Henry then flung the belt across the ring and called Cena "weak."  Cena went over to pick up the title, then Henry made like he was going to attack.  Cena backed away a bit and Henry called him "weak" again.  Henry left the ring and went up the ramp, then pointed to an imaginary watch on his wrist.  Cena looked concerned in the ring as Henry left.

The announce team talked about the main event, then Lawler mentioned the Wyatt family debuting next week.  Another promo was used to close out the show, "The Wyatts are coming."
