The show started out with Daniel Bryan coming to the ring to deliver a promo ahead of Payback. Kane comes down to the ring and Bryan tells him it's time for Team Hell No to break up, that way he can be tag team champions with Randy Orton. Kane tells Bryan they won't win, and Bryan argues asking Kane if he thinks he's the weakest link. Kane starts to choke Bryan, so Orton comes out to intervene. He tells Kane if he hurts Bryan, he hurts his team for Sunday. Orton threatens to hit Kane with an RKO. Bryan tells Orton he doesn't need help. All of the arguing and near altercations bring The Shield on the big screen, as they laugh at the disfunction between the three superstars in the ring.
Sheamus defeated Antonio Cesaro via pinfall. Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick to get the win. Damien Sandow attacked Sheamus from behind as he was leaving on the entrance ramp.
Heath Slater defeated The Great Khali via pinfall. The other 3MB guys distracted Khali, with Hornswoggle also involved. Slater managed to hit a DDT to get the win.
Alberto Del Rio & Chris Jericho defeated Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston. Del Rio scored the winning pinfall on Heavyweight champion Dolph Ziggler in this one.
Backstage, Chris Jericho was being asked about his match against CM Punk at Payback. Paul Heyman came into the scene to interrupt. Jericho told Heyman that Sunday's match will be a rare one and that it will exceed expectations.
Aksana vs. Kaitlyn match ended in a no contest. During the match, Kaitlyn slapped the referee and Aksana ended up running away.
Curtis Axel defeated Wade Barrett via pinfall in a non-title match. Barrett tried to tell Axel they should wait to fight on Sunday at Payback so they don't get hurt ahead of the PPV. The Miz comes out and says everyone wants to see them fight now. The match goes and Axel is able to pin Barrett for the win. Post-match, The Miz hit a Skull Crushing Finale on Axel to lay him out.
Kane, Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton defeated The Shield via pinfall. In the match, Bryan was able to eventually force Rollins to tap out to get the win. This was the first time ever that the three man Shield team lost in a six-man tag match.
