Hell in a Cell 2014 Kickoff Show

Renee Young was joined on the panel for the kickoff show by Booker T and Alex Riley, as well as Paul Heyman. Heyman added his thoughts on various matches but said in particular his client Brock Lesnar would be watching tonight with great interest. He said the Cena vs. Orton match is a “winner’s nightmare” because they will have to face his client Brock Lesnar next.

They had an in-ring segment of MizdowTV with Damien Mizdow hosting. Cole, JBL and Lawler checked in on commentary for the show as Miz and Mizdow arrived to the ring. Miz kept interrupting Mizdow to take over the interview, so Mizdow just mimicked him and fake-moved his mouth as Miz was talking. Mizdow talked up Miz’s accomplishments and said defeating Sheamus for the US Title will only add to his resume. Mizdow told Miz he’s the best friend he’s ever had, and Miz said Damien is a damn good stunt double, one he is truly proud to call his friend.

Sheamus showed up on the big screen and told Miz he needs to ask his good friend to get on his hands and knees so he can kiss his ass goodbye. Sheamus informed Miz he won’t be winning the US Title tonight. He delivered a Brogue Kick to destroy the camera as his “trailer preview” of what’s to come. His theme music hit as the feed cut out with Miz and Mizdow angry in the ring.

Mark Henry made his entrance to the ring, then Bo Dallas was introduced. He had a mic in hand and talked about how he beat Mark Henry 4 times now. He said that makes him the new World’s Strongest Man. He got heat from the crowd saying he’s ashamed his last name is “Dallas” so for tonight only he is changing it to “Washington.”

Kickoff Show match: Mark Henry defeated Bo Dallas via pinfall. As soon as the bell rang, Henry began unloading punches on Dallas in the corner and didn’t let up. He ended up hitting World’s Strongest Slam on Dallas for the quick win. Dallas fell outside the ring to the ramp area and got on a mic saying he wasn’t ready and Henry cheated. He said in the book of life he’s still a winner and is 5-0. He said it’s because Henry will never Bo-lieve. Henry took exception and came over to Dallas then tossed him into a crowd barrier.

Byron Saxton interviewed Paige along with her new best friend Alicia Fox, backstage. Paige said tonight she's going to take away AJ's best friend, the WWE Divas Championship. They ran the Hell in a Cell by the numbers promo video ahead of the PPV.

2014 Hell in a Cell PPV Results:

Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler
Intercontinental Title 2 of 3 Falls match

The winner of this match is the first to win two falls in the match. At one point they traded near falls about five times. Ziggler went for a neck breaker, but Cesaro countered. Cesaro ended up getting Ziggler’s legs and looked ready for an airplane spin. He missed that try but got one moments later to spin Ziggler around ten times before letting go and pinning. Dolph kicked out. He stole a pinfall moments later for Fall #1. Dolph was ahead 1-0.

Cesaro managed to hit a one-arm slam on Dolph at one point, but it appeared Cesaro hurt his arm. He favored it a bit and then jumped on Dolph’s chest before trying a pin. He had a power bomb and another near fall. Ziggler worked on the hurt arm a bit and put a hold on Cesaro trying to make him tap, but Cesaro backed him into a corner. Cesaro tried to counter but Dolph locked a hold on him before Cesaro backed him into the corner.

Cesaro managed to hit a Superplex from the corner but his arm was hurting so he didn’t go for the cover. He finally put an arm over Dolph but only got 2. Dolph managed to avoid Cesaro in the corner, then hit a Fameasser for a near fall of his own. Cesaro caught Dolph at one point, then hit the big forearm for another near fall. Moments later, Dolph was able to hit a Superkick on Cesaro followed by the Zig Zag to win the second fall. Dolph with a clean sweep 2-0.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler defeated Cesaro 2-0 in a 2 of 3 falls match to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Backstage, Kane was meeting with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon saying they have two matches in place tonight. Randy Orton came rushing in asking where Seth Rollins was. Stephanie told Randy to use all of that anger and take it out on John Cena. Orton said he thought they were all on the same page, then said Rollins took it on himself to Curb Stomp him. HHH told him Rollins is a lot more like him than he realizes. He told Orton not to let that get to him tonight but instead to finish off John Cena and bring home the World Heavyweight Championship. Orton agreed to do it their way but said if they don’t eventually deal with Seth Rollins, he will.

Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella

The loser of this match becomes the personal assistant of the winner. Brie had a move to jump out of the ring on Nikki early. Nikki appeared to hurt her knee. Brie tossed her back in the ring and hit a missile dropkick for the near fall. Nikki hit her with the backbreaker Rack Attack but Brie kicked out of it. She kept up the fight though and hit a huge punch to clock Brie in the face knocking her down. Seconds later, she did the Rack Attack again and got the pinfall win.

Winner: Nikki Bella won via pinfall over Brie Bella.

The Usos vs. Star & Goldust
WWE Tag Team Championship

Gold and Stardust had the early advantage after hurting one of the Usos legs by slamming it against the ring post. Stardust settled into a headlock for a bit, as Goldust yelled “we’re not so strange now are we Uso?” The Uso finally broke free and got the hot tag. With the legal one hitting several dives out of the ring onto Star and Goldust. Goldust eventually fell into the corner in the ring and got a huge hip splash after. The pinfall didn’t succeed and neither did one after an Uso super kick on Goldust. The Usos managed to hit superplexes on Gold and Stardust from opposite ring corners, leaving all four men on the mat. A supersplash gave what looked like the winning fall, but Stardust broke it up. The action broke down, and Goldust hit a kick from behind on the hurt knee of the legal Uso, then rolled him up for the pinfall win.

Winners: Gold & Stardust win via pinfall over The Usos to retain the WWE Tag Team titles.

Randy Orton vs. John Cena
Hell in a Cell Match

Orton and Cena immediately started to punch away at each other. Cena whipped Orton to the corner but then caught an elbow when he rushed him. Orton took control, bringing Cena out of the ring to try to smash him head first on the steps. Cena fought back, but Orton regained control and chased Cena around the ring. Cena blocked Orton’s try to throw him into the cage wall, but Orton finally shoved Cena into it. They went back in the ring, where Cena tried to rush in with a steel chair, but Orton cut him off to continue control of the match. He grabbed the chair and brought it in the ring to ram Cena in the gut then smashed it on his back. Orton set it up in the corner but as he went to Cena, Cena tried for an AA. Orton countered and DDT’d Cena for the near fall.

At one point, Cena had control and set up for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Orton surprised him and booted Cena in the head then hit a power scoop slam for a near fall. Orton continued to dominate things and went for the draping DDT on the middle rope. Instead, Cena dumped Orton out of the ring over the top rope. Orton managed to slam Cena crotch first into the ring post, then he hit his back and neck breaker onto the floor. Orton pulled Cena back in the ring for an attempted pinfall. Back in the ring, Orton ran the ropes and shoved Cena off the apron into the cell wall. Cena was able to gain the advantage on the outside and then set up a table in the ring. Orton ended up using the table as he propped it up into the corner of the ring.

Orton hit a surprise RKO moments later and grabbed the pinfall, but Cena kicked out ahead of 3 to surprise him. A frustrated Orton threw Cena through the table in the corner of the ring then rolled him over for another near fall. Orton brought in half the steel ring steps next. Cena recovered though and hit slam on Orton onto the steps, then hit a Five Knuckle Shuffle on Orton on the stairs. He waited for Orton to get back up, then went for the AA. Orton escaped and hit a low blow on Cena to drop him. Orton with another near fall.

Cena was hunched over so Orton backed up and went for the punt kick, but Cena avoided that and dropped Cena with a drop toehold. He put on the STF with Orton looking like he had no escape. Orton managed to crawl his way to the bottom rope to break it. Cole reminded viewers there inside a cell so the ref doesn’t have to break the hold. Orton pulled himself under the rope to break free. Cena went over and grabbed the steel steps and launched them towards Orton, but Randy moved to the side to dodge them. Back in the ring, Cena hit an AA for a near fall moments later. Cena tried another AA moments after that with Orton hitting an RKO counter for a near fall. Cena got up and hit another AA for a near fall too.

A table was set up in the ring with Cena on the corner already. Orton prepared to RKO Cena from the corner turnbuckle. Cena shoved Orton down instead, so Orton climbed up for a superplex. Cena countered it and hit an AA off the corner to smash Orton through the table to get the pinfall win.

Paul Heyman was shown standing up from the WWE Network panel. Cena walked over towards the crowd and gave the “call me” signal to Heyman then went back in the ring to celebrate.

Winner: John Cena defeated Randy Orton via pinfall to become new #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

The Miz vs. Sheamus
US Championship Match

Late in the match, the crowd started a “Mizdow’s awesome” chant as Mizdow was mimicking all of The Miz’s moves on the outside of the ring. Mizdow tried to get on the apron to distract Sheamus but the champ chased him off. Miz grabbed Sheamus from behind and hit Skullcrushing Finale for a very near fall. Moments later, Miz went for a move off the top rope but Sheamus delivered a mid-air Brogue Kick on him for the win. Post-match, Sandow got in the ring to lay on the mat mimicking The Miz. Sheamus had some fun, raising and dropping Miz’s arm to watch as Mizdown copied it. He eventually stood Miz up and made his arms do the YMCA which Mizdow mimicked as the crowd sang along.

Winner: Sheamus won via pinfall over The Miz to retain the United States title.

They showed Brie Bella outside loading the trunk of a car with a bunch of luggage. Nikki came walking up asking if she got her smoothie. Brie handed her a cup and Nikki inquired if she put in the right amount of bananas, blueberries and strawberries. Brie said yes, so Nikki opened it and poured it all over Brie’s head. She told her to go have another made just like that one and bring it to her hotel room.

Big Show vs. Rusev

Early on, Rusev was able to successfully ground Show, hurting his left leg and working it over on the mat. The crowd started up a USA chant, but Show was still down on the mat as Lana watched from ringside.

Rusev hit an impressive suplex at one point and then continued to work over the left leg until Show kicked him away. Show finally stood up, but gingerly. He managed to head butt Rusev, but Rusev responded by dropkicking Show down to the mat. Rusev jumped on Show’s back and tried for The Accolade, but Show avoided it and then put his own hold on Rusev, yanking his leg back to try to make Rusev tap. Rusev managed to grab the bottom rope to break it off.

Later on, Show managed to block a big boot attempt from Rusev, then chokeslammed Rusev to the match for a pinfall. Rusev kicked out of it. A few moments later, Mark Henry came down the ramp to cheer on Show. He looked at Rusev laying on the outside floor and hesitated going after him. Show went out to retrieve Rusev. Henry walked up and tried to encourage his friend, patting him on the back. As Show got back in the ring, Rusev delivered a boot to the head. Henry got on the side apron, so Rusev booted him as well. Another few kicks to Show, and then Rusev was able to put on The Accolade. Show tried to withstand it but eventually had to tap out.

Lana got in the ring to congratulate Rusev and put the gold medal on him as the Russian flag fell from the rafters. Henry tried to console Big Show after the loss.

Winner: Rusev won via submission over The Big Show.

Paige vs. AJ Lee
WWE Divas Championship

Alicia Fox arrived to ringside with Paige for the match. At one point, AJ managed to take out Paige and then Alicia Fox on the outside. Paige regained control on the outside as she swung AJ into the crowd barrier multiple times. Back in the ring, she put on various holds including yanking AJ’s arms behind her back. AJ broke that but Paige kicked her and tossed her to the corner for elbows.

AJ regained control and went against the ropes for a move but Paige kicked her down for a near fall. Paige went for a move, but AJ countered with a big kick to the jaw to drop Paige. AJ got on the corner and hit a Tornado DDT for a pinfall attempt but Paige kicked out of that. AJ put on the Black Widow to try to submit her, but Paige countered and carried AJ around, skipping a bit before she hit a fallaway slam for a near fall. Paige went to the outside and tried for a move on the barrier but AJ tripped her up causing Paige to fall hitting the back of her head on the barricade.

Paige was recovering on the floor as the ref was counting her out. Alicia helped Paige up and rolled her into the ring, but Paige was still out of it and AJ capitalized by quickly putting the Black Widow on Paige. Paige quickly tapped out. AJ celebrated a bit before leaving the room. Alicia got in the ring and screamed out at AJ. Moments later, Paige was on her feet and slapped Alicia in the face. Paige left the ring, backing up the ramp screaming “I hate you!”

Winner: AJ Lee defeated Paige via submission to retain the WWE Divas Championship.

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
Hell in a Cell Match

Dean Ambrose made his entrance first with a kendo stick strapped to his back. He immediately went under the ring and started to toss numerous steel chairs into the ring and then dragged the table out from underneath. He pulled a bag out from under the ring and opened it in the ring dumping out several other items. Ambrose surveyed the structure from the outside, then yelled “we’re all gonna die tonight.” He started to scale the structure and got to the top then climbed out to pose on top with his stick. He got the crowd fired up as his theme music kept playing.

Seth Rollins’ music hit and he eventually appeared with the briefcase in hand. Security crew Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury accompanied him to ringside. Rollins got in the cage in the ring and yelled up at Ambrose “you wanna start it up there?!” He was urged against it by the guards, he shoved the miff and scaled the cage to go up and fight Ambrose. He stopped himself and climbed back down. He yelled Noble and Mercury “you two go up and get him!” They took off their suit coats and climbed up to go after Ambrose. Ambrose applauded them as they arrived on top.

Ambrose watched as they approached then swung the kendo stuck into both of them. However, Rollins had climbed up and hit a sneak attack at the top of the cage. They held him down as Rollins smashed the kendo stick on him repeatedly. Mercury and Noble kept beating up Ambrose with Rollins ordering them to throw him off. Ambrose fought back and knocked Mercury/Noble down, then set his sights on Rollins, smiling. The two ended up fighting each other on the side of the cell about halfway down. Ambrose head butted Rollins and they both fell off and through the announcers tables. Both men were layer out as refs and personnel came over to check on them. A stretcher was brought down for Ambrose, while Rollins was put on a stretcher.

They stated to roll Rollins up the ramp, but Ambrose got off his gurney and ran up the ramp to attack Rollins. He shoved him off the stretcher and kept up the attack then tossed him face first into the cell wall and into the ring. He backed off Mercury and Noble then slammed the cell door on Rollins’ head. Ambrose got inside, slammed the door closed and ordered the ref to lock it. Mercury and Noble yelled at the ref not to, but he did, and the bell finally rang.

Ambrose yelled “you stabbed me in the back” before repeatedly smashing a steel chair on Rollins. HE ended up tossing Rollins into the cell wall. Mercury and Noble tried to yell support into the cage but Ambrose went outside to further damage him. Ambrose set up a tablet on the cell wall and tried to slam Rollins through it. Rollins slid off and shoved Ambrose, who avoided going through the table. Rollins snuck back in the ring, but Ambrose still got the upper hand.

Rollins finally managed to get control of things and set up the table onto the side of the ring. He tried to suplex Ambrose over the top rope onto it, but Ambrose knocked him back onto the table instead. Ambrose got on the corner, then jumped off the second turnbuckle to smash Rollins through the table.

At one point, Ambrose was up with Rollins down. All of a sudden, corporate Kane walked over and sprayed Ambrose in the face with a fire extinguisher through the cable wall. Rollins gained the upper hand and threw Ambrose into the wooden table near the cage wall. Moments later, Rollins rolled Ambrose into the ring, then hit the Curb Stomp. Thinking he had the pinfall he covered, but Ambrose kicked out at the last moment.

Rollins brought the MITB case into the ring and then smashed a chair across Ambrose repeatedly for more damage. Rollins put Ambrose’s head on top of the brief case to go for a Curb Stomp, but Ambrose got onto his feet. Moments later, Ambrose hit his clothesline move from the ropes, then grabbed the MITB case. He got up and smashed it into Rollins’ face and went for the pinfall. Surprisingly, Rollins kicked out of it. Ambrose rolled out of the ring and grabbed two cinderblocks from under the ring to bring into the ring. Ambrose set them up next to Rollins and prepared for a Curb Stomp. As he backed up, suddenly the lights went out.

A strange voice in a different language kept chanting something indistinguishable over and over as the lights stayed off. Eventually a lantern lit up the center of the ring with smoke coming up around it. Eventually a hologram of a figure was shown moving in the smoke. Ambrose curiously looked at it to see what it was. All of a sudden, Bray Wyatt came up into the ring and charged at Ambrose, knocking him down. The lights went out then came back on with Wyatt doing his upside down crab move in the corner. He walked up to look at Ambrose before flipping over. Wyatt went over and stared at the lantern in the center of the ring. Cautiously, Rollins made his way over to put an arm over Ambrose for the pinfall win. He got the 3 count then rolled out of the ring.

Wyatt closed things by hitting Sister Abigail on Ambrose, and then knelt in the ring as the close camera shot was on him.

Winner: Seth Rollins won via pinfall over Dean Ambrose.
