Henry tried to press Christian overhead, but Christian escaped and shoved him into Sheamus in the corner. He hit a Spear on Sheamus and took a pinfall but Orton slid into the ring and RKO'd Henry. The ref was distracted trying to get Orton out of there, so he missed counting the pin for Christian and was too late.

Christian complained to the ref who explained he was getting Randy out of there. As Christian turned around, he got hit by the Brogh Kick. Sheamus took the pinfall for the win with Orton looking on from outside the ring.

Winner: Sheamus wins the Triple Threat #1 Contender's match to become the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus will face Randy Orton on next week's show for the title.

Smackdown Preview 08.21.09

Tonight's Smackdown comes just days ahead of the biggest Pay-Per-View of the summer, Summerslam 2009! There's sure to be plenty of implications as the superstars of Smackdown prepare for the huge event. Several of the matches on the card will feature Smackdown's title holders and contenders. In the biggest match of the event, World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy puts his title up against CM Punk. This won't be no ordinary match though as the two will battle for gold in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. Both men are familiar with the items involved, as Jeff has been in plenty of these matches before throughout his career. To CM Punk's credit, he's been the winner of the Money in the Bank Ladder match the past two years. On tonight's episode of Smackdown, they'll do battle on opposite sides in a big six man tag match. Jeff teams with his brother Matt Hardy and John Morrison to face off against Punk and the Hart Dynasty! Which team will prevail and which superstar will gain the upperhand?

For week's, two of the biggest superstars in WWE, Kane and Great Khali have crossed paths, but have yet to have a match. Last week's show saw the maniacal Kane holding The Great Khali's translator Ranjin Singh as hostage in his dungeon. Kane had Singh deliver a message by camera to Khali that he was being well cared for and was unharmed. Kane then invited Khali to come see his handiwork for himself. When Khali arrived to rescue Singh from Kane's clutches, he fell right into Kane's trap and was viciously attacked. Kane used a metal pipe on Khali and bashed him into a cage, leaving the giant damaged. Luckily, Ranjin Singh was rescued and is unharmed, but something's got to give between these two monstrous wrestlers. Will their paths cross again on tonight's show?

And finally, let's not forget the other superstars of Smackdown heading to Summerslam. The Unified Tag champs, Chris Jericho and Big Show are coming off a loss on Raw to John Cena and Randy Orton, but are ready to defend the titles against Cryme Tyme at the PPV. Also, we have Dolph Ziggler looking to capture his first title when he faces Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental belt. All six of these superstars will be looking to prepare themselves mentally for Summerslam, by gaining some sort of psychological edge. What will go down with these Summerslam opponents on Smackdown?

Catch Smackdown tonight at 8PM EST on MyNetworkTV!

Ranjin Singh Injury Update

The manager/translator/hype man for The Great Khali, Ranjin Singh will be out of action from WWE indefinitely according to recent reports. The injury was sustained during the brutal Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out and came due to the Undertaker.

According to Wrestling Observer:

The Great Khali's translator/manager, Ranjin Singh, is going to be off television indefinitely. Singh was "injured" this past Sunday at No Way Out. According to an article on WWE.com, Singh sustained a fractured patella after he was kicked from the entrance of the Elimination Chamber to the ground by Undertaker at No Way Out. According to the article, Singh also shattered his knee cap in three different places when he landed hard on the ground. According to the article, doctors say Singh will require surgery to repair the injury, and there is no timetable on when he'll be able to return. Singh is actually fine as this is just a storyline. No word yet if this was simply a way to write his character off of television.

So that makes Singh, Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy amongst the currently injured stars on the Smackdown roster.
