Raw Preview 10/25/10

With the 2010 Bragging Rights results now official, tonight's episode of Raw will definitely be interesting! The were a number of Raw superstars involved in major matches on the PPV card, but none were bigger than Wade Barrett challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Title. Barrett had ordered John Cena to help make sure he won the match, or else Cena would be fired. Cena was able to help Barrett win, but is Barrett the new champion? What went down in the frantic finish between Orton and Barrett over the WWE Title?

Also, Team Raw was looking to even the score with Team Smackdown after last year's Bragging Rights win. However, it came down to just the Captain of the team, The Miz trying to fight against two ring veterans in Rey Mysterio and Edge. In the end, it was Team Smackdown prevailing as Edge hit the Spear on Miz to pickup the major victory. Now Smackdown will once again celebrate as the supreme brand and bring the trophy to their show. What will be next for The Miz following this loss though?

Several other titles were on the line with Raw superstars challenging Smackdown stars for their titles. Natalya once again was thwarted in her attempts to win the Divas title as Layla distracted her, allowing Michelle to gain victory. However, an unlikely Raw pairing was able to defeat Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes for the tag team titles. Find out who the new champs are on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw!

Watch Raw tonight at 9PM EST on USA!

Bragging Rights 2010 PPV Results

WWE Bragging Rights 2010 Pay-Per-View is the second PPV in October for World Wrestling Entertainment, with plenty on the line! Not only are two major titles up for grabs, there's also the annual Team Raw vs Team Smackdown match for ultimate bragging rights and the trophy! Two teams of seven superstars from each brand will face off in an elimination match to determine which brand is superior, Raw or Smackdown!

Randy Orton has a tough test as he looks to defend the WWE Title against Wade Barrett, with John Cena in Barrett's corner. Also, Kane and Undertaker face off for the World title in a Buried Alive match! We've got Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler in a non-title, champion vs champion matchup. Also, Natalya will once again contend for the Divas title as she takes on Layla of Team Laycool. As of right now, the only title holders not scheduled for action are the tag team champions, Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre. However, that could change as the event gets underway.

The 2010 Bragging Rights PPV results will be updated starting at 8PM EST through 11PM EST. Find the latest updated Bragging Rights PPV results listed below as they happen! Click here to refresh this page for updates.

Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler

Late in the match, Ziggler was able to get the sleeper hold onto Bryan. However, Bryan got to the ropes to break it. Vickie Guerrero was there to start yelling at the ref. As Ziggler lost his cool, Bryan was able to get him into the Labelle Lock and eventually made Dolph tap out. Vickie and Ziggler were still arguing post-match, so the ref sent them out of there.

Winner: Daniel Bryan wins via submission over Dolph Ziggler.

John Cena & David Otunga vs Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes
WWE Tag Team Championships

The anonymous Raw GM announced an interesting impromptu match as the tag champs put the titles on the line against...John Cena and David Otunga of Nexus!

In a quick match, Cena became the target of the heel tag champs. After five minutes of suffering a beatdown from Drew and Cody, Cena finally broke away. Cena was able to knock Drew McIntyre down for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, with Cena taunting his tag partner Otunga "You Can't See Me" before hitting it. Cody Rhodes managed to hit a blind tag on Drew to become legal. He went for a Cross Rhodes, but Cena was able to counter and get him into the STF. Rhodes eventually tapped out giving Cena and Otunga the tag titles.

Post-match, Otunga was celebrating as if he was part of the reason they won. Cena gave him a look, and after several moments eventually hit him with the Attitude Adjustment. Cena left with the belts, leaving Otunga down in the ring.

Winners: John Cena & David Otunga win via pinfall over Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes to become new tag team champions.

Goldust vs. Ted Dibiase

Towards the end of the match, Dibiase and Goldust ran into each other in the middle of the ring. With the two down, Maryse attacked Aksana from behind. Maryse tossed Aksana against the ring. Goldust was checking to make sure his future wife was OK, and the distraction allowed Dibiase to hit Dream Street for the win.

Post-match, Maryse tried to return the Million Dollar belt to Dibiase. Aksana tackled Maryse down and grabbed the belt away. Aksana walked up to Dibiase with the belt and rubbed on his chest. As Aksana pretended she would kiss Dibiase, Goldust caught him from behind with the Final Cut.

Winner: Ted Dibiase wins via pinfall over Goldust.

Natalya vs. Michelle McCool
WWE Divas Championship

In the late stages of this short divas match, Natalya started a comeback against McCool. She managed to slap the Sharpshooter on, but not for long as McCool grabbed the bottom rope to break it. Layla was able to help out by causing a distraction, which helped Michelle get the pinfall victory.

Winner: Michelle McCool wins via pinfall over Natalya to retain the Divas Championship.

Undertaker vs. Kane
World Championship - Buried Alive Match

Late into this matchup, the Undertaker was able to get Kane into his Hell's Gate submission hold. After some time, Kane tapped out then faded out of consciousness. Undertaker rolled him into the open grave. Meanwhile, Taker spotted Paul Bearer walking nearby. He went over and rubbed his face in the dirt, then prepared to Chokeslam Bearer. Suddenly, Nexus rushed out to attack Taker. Undertaker was fighting them off, but Paul Bearer was able to stir Kane. Kane got out of the grave and hit Taker with the urn to knock him into the grave.

Nexus started shoveling dirt into the grave on Taker, but Kane told them he wanted the joy of doing it. He sent them backstage, then did his pyrotechnics. As his music played a bulldozer poured dirt over Taker in the grave to give Kane the victory. Kane left the scene still the World Champ.

Post-match, Undertaker's music hit as pyrotechnic effects made a lightning blot strike the tombstone of Taker's grave. His logo then appeared across the text of Taker's tombstone. The commentators were puzzled over what happened.

Winner: Kane wins the Buried Alive match against Undertaker to retain World Heavyweight Championship.

Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown for Bragging Rights Trophy

Tyler Reks gained the first elimination as he hit his finisher on Santino Marella of Team Raw. Next elimination happened when Sheamus took out Kofi Kingston with the High Cross for a pinfall. A skirmish happened later in the match, as Del Rio got into it with his teammate Rey Mysterio and threw him against the crowd barrier. Mysterio was apparently hurt as officials helped him backstage.

Next up, John Morrison showed off his impressive high-flying and fast-paced offense, eventually hitting Starship Pain on Jack Swagger to eliminate him. Tyler Reks and Sheamus ended up fighting in the ring, with Sheamus able to take out Reks. Big Show and Sheamus fought, with both men fighting outside the ring and eventually counted out. A Spear from Edge on R-Truth eliminated Truth from the equation.

Next up, CM Punk was able to get a pinfall on Del Rio, shocking the Mexican superstar. As he was eliminated, Rey Mysterio arrived out to attack Del Rio. It came down to Edge & Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk, The Miz and Ezekiel Jackson. After a 619 and followup on Punk, Rey Mysterio eliminated CM Punk from Team Raw. The 2-on-2 left was The Miz & Ezekiel Jackson for Team Raw versus Edge & Rey Mysterio for Team Smackdown. Rey Mysterio withstood Ezekiel Jackson's vicious attacks, and eventually hit the 619 on him as well. Mysterio with his second straight elimination.

The Miz was the last guy left for Team Raw, and avoided a 619 as Alex Riley took down Mysterio. Mysterio hit the 619 on Riley afterwords. Moments later, Rey managed to make the hot tag to Edge who caught Miz with the Spear to give Team Smackdown the victory for its second straight Bragging Rights.

Winners: Team Smackdown wins against Team Raw. Rey Mysterio & Edge are final competitors. Edge makes final elimination against The Miz by pinfall.

Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton
WWE Championship

In the final moments of this one, the referee became knocked out. With that, the rest of Barrett's Nexus crew stormed down to the ring and attacked Orton who was helpless. John Cena eventually got involved, but by attacking The Nexus! Barrett started to confront Cena over what he was doing and Cena explained he was trying to prevent him from getting disqualified, because he'd lose the match. Moments later, Orton gained serious momentum as he prepared to go for the RKO. Cena was in the ring though and interfered, hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Barrett. Due to Cena's interference, Barrett won, but by DQ allowing Orton to keep the WWE Title and Cena to not be fired.

Winner: Wade Barrett wins due to disqualification against Randy Orton when John Cena interfered.

Bragging Rights 2010 PPV Predictions

WWE Pay-Per-Views are hitting us quicker than a Randy Orton RKO! It's time for Bragging Rights, mere weeks after WWE put on the Hell in a Cell PPV. That Pay-Per-View set up many of these situations, especially the main events: WWE Title and World Title are on the line in unique situations. We've also got a Bragging Rights match that really packs a punch with top-of-the-line superstars competing for that trophy that an enraged Kane knocked over on Friday night's Smackdown.

Here's the WWE Characters the Blog Bragging Rights PPV predictions and analysis.

Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler

Bryan has had a strange roller-coaster ride while he's been built by WWE. However, he is the United States Champion. This seems like a match where Vickie Guerrero's rookie Kaitlyn could play a part, costing Ziggler a win. There's no titles on the line and it will give Bryan a good win over a credible WWE star.

Winner: Daniel Bryan wins via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler.

Natalya vs. Layla
Divas Championship

Natalya is part of the Hart clan and seems destined for a title reign. This is the only one available. It appears in this match Layla will be the one defending, but that Michelle McCool will be lurking around the ring like always. Still, it seems time for Natalya to capture a title, and she should be able to slap the Sharpshooter on Layla to make her tap out. Of course, win or not, Michelle McCool will contend that Natalya didn't beat "the official champ," setting up further matches.

Winner: Natalya wins the match, but does she win the official belt?

Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown for Bragging Rights Trophy

They just recently set the record straight, this will be an elimination style tag match, which now makes the additions of Santino Marella, Tyler Reks and Ezekiel Jackson more logical. They could somehow use this to set up a future storyline, making teammates turn against each other. It seems that with all the recent Smackdown triumphs over Raw, someone will win the match for Raw. Expect The Miz to somehow be at least one of the final Team Raw members, further solidifying a great 2010 for Mr. Money in the Bank. However, will this be the PPV where Miz cashes in? Seems less likely with all that's going on here.

Winners: Team Raw wins, The Miz is among the final team members left.

Undertaker vs. Kane
Buried Alive Match

It seems odd that this feud will finish at Bragging Rights instead of Survivor Series, which seems a more appropriate place to have a Buried Alive match. Makes it look almost as if Kane will once again be victorious and claim to have buried the Undertaker for good, leading to yet another match in the future. The other factors here are Undertaker's constant nagging injuries, his age and inability to hold the title due to that for too much of a reign. Kane's had a good run, but how many matches will Undertaker lose to his younger brother, and how many fans will want to keep seeing them fight at each PPV? Taker will finally get a win and the title.

There's an interesting prediction which comes from PWTorch's Pat McNeill. He has a Taker win with the burial of both Kane and Paul Bearer. However, the match has taken so much out of Undertaker that The Miz rushes in to cash in his MITB case and take the World Heavyweight title. Interesting pick!

Winner: Undertaker wins the Buried Alive match and World Title.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett
WWE Championship Match

We all know the situation here. John Cena is the reluctant new member of The Nexus and must follow Barrett's orders or be fired from WWE. Cena will be Barrett's corner man. That means there will likely come some situation in this match where the referee is knocked down, and Barrett orders Cena to help him out. This could be where Cena finds a way to defy Barrett and Nexus, or it could be where Cena helps Barrett win the title. If it's the latter, that just sets up more Cena-Orton feuds and we've seen enough of that for a decade. It just seems unlikely Barrett will win because of all the recent hooplah with his arm raised and in-ring speeches, plus the Orton beatdown. Orton will somehow leave as WWE Champion, while tensions will intensify between Nexus leader Barrett and John Cena.

Winner: Randy Orton retains the title, despite potential Cena involvement.

Remember that WWE Characters the Blog provides updated predictions for Pay-Per-Views starting at 8PM Sunday night through 11PM. Make sure to check in and stay updated on all the results! Enjoy the 2010 Bragging Rights PPV!

Raw Preview 10/17/10

On tonight's Raw, fans will once again be watching to see if John Cena will continue to adhere to Wade Barrett and his orders as part of Nexus. Last week's show saw Cena nearly snap when Barrett hit the ring and pulled Cena off Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty. To add insult to injury, Barrett added a stipulation for tonight's tag match: if Cena and Orton lose, then Barrett will induct McGillicutty and Harris into The Nexus. What will go down when Cena tags up with the WWE Champ Randy Orton? Will Barrett order Cena not to compete in the match, leaving Orton to fend for himself?

The Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View is approaching quickly, and Natalya has her eye on the prize. That prize is the WWE Divas Championship which she'd love to bring back to the Raw divas roster. She's had to contend with the "flawless" team known as LayCool for the past several weeks. Just recently, Team LayCool went a bit far in suggesting that Natalya has a beard much like Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart's. Natalya seemed to take it in stride, but don't expect her to lay off LayCool. With the impending match less than a week away, how will Natalya prepare? Will she be in action tonight?

Last week also saw six of the seven members qualify for Team Raw at Bragging Rights PPV. In individual matches John Morrison, R-Truth, Sheamus, Santino Marella, CM Punk and The Miz all secured spots on the team. The Miz was able to take over as team captain, thanks to interference in his match with John Cena. Still there is one spot left open on the team. Which member of the Raw roster will take that final spot? Will they be revealed on tonight's Raw?

Tyler Reks returns as Smackdown Heel

The biggest surprise on Smackdown was not Alberto Del Rio's choice of cars to enter the arena, or that Undertaker could stay up on the ledge of the Portland Rose Garden for most of the show without a bathroom break. Instead it was that a previously washed out and left for dead wrestler named Tyler Reks made his return as a Smackdown heel, and surprisingly earned his way into the Bragging Rights 2010 Pay-Per-View. For now at least.

Previously a "Cowabunga" type surfer gimmick plagued Tyler Reks and he seemed out of place on any roster. He had a brief stint on ECW, to build up some momentum, then moved to Smackdown. Eventually he became MIA, seeming to be lost with his gimmick, and needing more work. Well as of Friday night, Tyler Reks has re-emerged, but now as a Smackdown heel. He looked much more ferocious in the ring as he dismantled the upstart NXT Season 2 winner, Kaval.

In a major shocker, Reks appeared from backstage with his hairstyle looking more like Paul Burchill's doo, almost a pirate-type style. Reks was now much meaner, wielding the mic and telling Kaval he could beat anyone, including him. Kaval had just lasted for five minutes in the ring with Big Show to become a sixth man on the Team Smackdown roster for Bragging Rights. With Reks' challenge though, Kaval must have still been dizzy over surviving Big Show's dominance. He accepted the challenge despite GM Teddy Long arriving out to refuse the match. So the match would go forth.

In about three minutes time, Reks was able to gain a pinfall with a unique airplane spin style face plant move. With that pinfall, he claimed a spot on Team Smackdown for the Bragging Rights PPV. Strange but true, he came back out of nowhere and is now a pivotal part of an impressive team. Also on the team are several former World Champions: captain The Big Show, Edge, Rey Mysterio and Jack Swagger. Another new but promising talent, Alberto Del Rio rounds out the roster along with Tyler Reks.

The smart thing to do in many instances when a wrestler's gimmick isn't working so well? Re-introduce him. Re-package him as a tough guy heel and have him mysteriously show up and make headlines. The question with Reks will be, who will he feud with? Will Kaval challenge him against next Friday to take back his spot on Team Smackdown? What will Reks' role be at the Pay-Per-View?

This should be interesting, as Reks can become a new dominant heel on the Smackdown roster. Reks could very well become a new dominant force on Smackdown, or he could be the sacrificial weak link for Team Smackdown. A pin on Reks right now will prevent Show, Swagger, Mysterio, Del Rio, Edge from looking bad. Still it's quite the intriguing move by the creative team as Team Raw is still awaiting its seventh and final member to be put on the team.

What do you think of the new heel gimmick for Reks so far?
