The WWE's Turkey & Gravy
(Above: Gobbledy Gooker hatches at Survivor Series! )
Today's the day to load up on Turkey with gravy and all the fixings. Seventeen years ago saw the debut and rare appearance of the WWE's own turkey, "The Gobbledy Gooker". The creature/character/wrestler was a part of Survivor Series 1990. Mean Gene Okerlund continued to speculate as to what was inside a huge egg set up near the top of the ramp at the big event. Eventually the egg started to shake, and The Gobbledy Gooker was hatched. It then headed down to the ring to dance with Mean Gene despite fans booing its appearance. So who and what is this Thanksgiving-themed character exactly?
Gobbledy Gooker was played by former WWE star Hector Guerrero, the brother of Chavo. He currently works as a color commentator for TNA, broadcasting the show in Spanish. Guerrero showed up out of the huge egg at Survivor Series wearing a funky looking Turkey costume. The egg had been shown on various televised WWE events for several weeks in order to hype up the mystery factor. However once the crowd realized what came from the egg they were less than thrilled, and the critics tore the concept apart. Gobbledy Gooker disappeared for years.
The Gobbledy Gooker finally made his return at Wrestlemania X-Seven for the "Gimmick Battle Royal", where Hector as the Turkey was eliminated second from the match.
