2008 Night of Champions Predictions

At Night of Champions Pay-Per-View just about every title within the Raw, ECW and Smackdown rosters will be on the line. (Note: The Intercontinental title is not listed as on the line at WWE.com's Night of Champions card) From the tag titles and US Championship all the way up to the WWE and World Heavyweight, each title will be contested. Since the recent draft, the titles have shifted around somewhat, but the matches remain the same. Here's predictions for the full Night of Champions PPV event.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Matt Hardy
United States Title

Hardy's recent move to the ECW roster puts him right where his opponent already was. Since Matt's had the title for just a few months now, expect him to pick up a clean win here and continue to be a worthy United States Champion.

Prediction: Hardy gets the pin and retains his US title.

Katie Lea vs. Mickie James
WWE Women's Title

Katie Lea promised Mickie weeks ago she will take the Women's title away. Several titles should change over at the PPV and this is one of them. Possibly Katie's brother gets involved to help her pick up a cheap win here, bringing a new Women's champion to Raw.

Prediction: Katie Lea defeats Mickie James to become Women's champion.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show vs. Kane
ECW Title

In recent weeks, Mark Henry put his name into the mix as a contender for the ECW title. Last week he manhandled HHH on Raw in a match, then defeated Kane by pinfall in another match. While Big Show seemed the favorite, recent talk and rumors say Henry's been moved to the ECW roster to become champion after he was a target of Michael Hayes' racist remarks not long ago. Kane is now part of Raw and the ECW title should return to ECW's show. Expect to see a new ECW champion, as WWE moved Henry to the roster in an almost sneaky move.

Winner: Mark Henry defeats Kane & Big Show to become ECW champ.

Hornswoggle & Finlay vs. Miz & Morrison
WWE Tag Team Titles

Another title change should come here, as Miz and Morrison's reign finally comes to an end. Expect the usual hijinx from Hornswoggle and his pops, and barring a DQ, they should become the new gimmicky tag team champs, despite their move to ECW.

Winners: Hornswoggle & Finlay become the new tag champs.

Ted Dibiase & Mystery Partner vs. Rhodes & Holly
World Tag Team titles

The question here isn't whether or not we will see new tag champs, but more a question of who Dibiase's partner will be. Will he choose Santino Marella? Not likely. Possibilities could include Lance Cade or even CM Punk. The "Money in the Bank" seems to fit, if Punk goes heel. Another outside possibility would be for Hardcore Holly to turn heel on Rhodes and be the mystery partner. Over the past weeks on Raw, Holly's seemed to grow impatient with Rhodes, so a heel turn could happen. Anything's possible here, but there will be new tag champs when it's all over.

Prediction: Ted Dibiase & Mystery Partner become new tag champs.

Batista vs. Edge
World Heavyweight Title

One fact remains here, Batista has been unable to defeat Edge for the title, ever. Expect that to continue here as Batista recently shifted to Raw where he now will compete with Cena, Mysterio, HBK and Jericho. Edge will continue to be the title holder on Smackdown for faces like HHH, Kennedy, Jeff Hardy & eventually Undertaker to go up against.

Prediction: Edge retains World Heavyweight title over Batista.

John Cena vs. Triple H
WWE Title

This is the toughest match to predict on the card. Triple H's recent move to Smackdown makes it look as if the title needs to move back to Raw. At the same time, HHH has had the title only a few months. This may be the situation where HHH begins to go after Edge's title in an attempt to achieve Ric Flair like glory (16 times the champ). This pick goes out on a limb, but John Cena brings the title back to the Raw roster so he can defend against the likes of Batista, Mysterio & CM Punk.

Prediction: John Cena wins via pinfall over Triple H to win the WWE title.

This is going to be one of the most interesting PPV's in some time due to the recent roster moves. Will five titles change over as predicted? The tag team titles seem to be a lock to move, but the others such as WWE title and ECW title are up in the air. And as always, CM Punk still lingers with a Money in the Bank contract. Night of Champions just might be the perfect time for Punk to cash in and become a new title holder. Feel free to leave your own predictions below as well.
