Smackdown Results 06.20.08

Smackdown results from San Jose, CA

Here's the results from Friday night's episode of Smackdown. The show began with MVP in the ring discussing his contract and the possibility he may just leave Smackdown for a better show. Vickie Guerrero came out to interrupt and told MVP he could fight Kane later tonight.

Matt Hardy wins via pin fall over Bam Neely (Chavo was ringside but referee Charles Robinson sent him to the back).

Michelle McCool wins via submission over Layla (Natalya came to the top of the ramp to observe the match).

Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Jamie Noble.

Kane wins due to countout of MVP (after Kane's win, Mark Henry appeared to attack Kane in the ring).

The Great Khali wins via submission over referee Charles Robinson. (the match was arranged by Vickie Guerrero as she claimed Robinson was unfair in officiating Edge's matches against Undertaker).

Jesse & Festus win via pinfall over Deuce & Domino (Domino got into it with Deuce outside the ring, beat him up then tossed him in to fight 1 on 2).

Finlay wins via pinfall over The Miz.

Chavo wins due to countout of Batista (Edge was special referee and made a very quick countout. Batista became enraged and went crazy in the ring, but was attacked and beat down by La Familia).

I have to say this somewhere: I'm beginning to hate Smackdown. This La Familia angle is getting tired, and all this piling on against first Rey Mysterio, then the Undertaker, and now Batista, is getting old. Edge used to at least be thought of as a wrestler; when is the last time this guy actually stepped into a ring to wrestle anyway?

The thing with the referee having to go up against the Great Khali was disgustiing also; frankly, if this stuff is the best they can come up with, they can dismantle Smackdown like they've already dismantled ECW (what's with Kane, the ECW champ, showing up week after week on Smackdown anyway, along with C.M. Punk?). Teddy Long was much better as GM on Smackdown, because he not only gave us the matches we really wanted to see, but there wasn't this constant ganging up that was supported by a GM.

Frankly, I hope they use this draft thing to move Vicki to ECW, putting her under Teddy Long once again and separating her from Edge (by the way, wasn't Chavo supposed to also be in ECW?) and the rest of the gang, and maybe move Kennedy back to Smackdown, because obviously the writers don't feel they have enough talent to actually write for wrestling.

Thanks; off the soapbox now.
