Smackdown's New Champs & New Home + PPV's
Last night's Smackdown was interesting in that it moved the tag titles to a brand new tag team. The Colons, Primo and Carlito were able to defeat the team of Ryder & Hawkins in just one attempt, becoming new WWE Tag champions on Smackdown. It's an impressive feat for both wrestlers. Not long ago there was talk going on that Carlito might be leaving due to not being pleased with his role in WWE. Carlito is a previous multi-time Intercontinental Champ, and one-time US Champ. His brother Primo is brand new, only a few weeks in, and already has a title now and a promising career ahead of him. Primo has the look of the next Chavo Guerrero type wrestler. Chavo's been a consistent heel for months, and his in-ring performances are usually pretty good. If Primo continues on that sort of career path, things will be great for him in the WWE.
There's rumors already for upcoming Cyber Sunday and Survivor Series matches. Cyber Sunday may see a Triple Threat WWE title match with HHH, Jeff Hardy and Vladimir Kozlov. It'd be a fresh match, with Kozlov getting a main event. It may come down to Hardy and HHH working together to wear him down, then going at each other. Other rumored matches for Survivor Series include a battle of Randy Orton's team vs. CM Punk's. Orton would lead Manu, Rhodes and Dibiase, and possibly a 5th guy. Punk would have Kofi Kingston, maybe Cryme Tyme and 1 other superstar on his side. There's also talks of more Survivor Series matches, including a Divas version. Maybe Raw vs. Smackdown divas or something along those lines.
The premier of Smackdown on MyNetworkTV looks to be very interesting as well. There's several champion vs. champion matches already scheduled. Matt Hardy, Triple H and Chris Jericho will face off in a main event Triple Threat between the champs from each brand. Intercontinental Champ Santino Marella will face off with US Champ, Shelton Benjamin. I'm going to venture a guess Michelle McCool takes on Beth Phoenix, and maybe the two tag team title holders will face off, Carlito & Primo vs. Rhodes & Dibiase. It could make for a great night of WWE matches as they move in to their new home network!
