2008 Cyber Sunday Predictions

Cyber Sunday gives fans from the WWE the ultimate interactive experience. With this particular Pay-Per-View, the matches won't be officially known until the fans votes have been tabulated. So for these predictions, WWE Characters the Blog offers a look at what match to expect as well as predicted winners!

CM Punk & Kofi Kingston vs. Rhodes & Dibiase
World Tag Team title match

The WWE has lobbied a lot for the Miz/Morrison vs. Cryme Tyme match due to all the video blogs and segments that have been on WWE.com, Raw, ECW and Smackdown. Fans will wisely vote for CM Punk and Kofi Kingston to go after two of their attackers from a month or so ago. It also gives the high-flying duo a chance at taking away the tag team titles. However, expect Manu to be involved and maybe even Randy Orton. Rhodes & Dibiase keep their tag team titles here.

Prediction: Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase win via pinfall to retain their tag team titles.

Honky Tonk Man vs. Santino Marella

It wouldn't be a shocker if Roddy Piper win the vote due to his immense popularity in WWE history. However, with the Honk-a-Meter being displayed by Santino week after week, expect to see the legendary Honky Tonk man in this match. It also wouldn't be shocking for WWE to have Honky Tonk man win the match and the title, just to break up Santino's bragging about being best champ ever. I'll stick with Santino to retain his title, but maybe Honky Tonk wins by a countout or due to a DQ.

Prediction: Santino will retain his title, but not win the match clean.

R-Truth vs. Shelton Benjamin
US Championship Match

With the other choices MVP or Festus, it's clear the fan-friendly R-Truth will get the vote here. In past weeks Truth has really gotten under Benjamin's skin, proving he has what it takes to win the title. This may be the only shot at a title change on the entire PPV card, so don't be surprised when Truth becomes the new champ. This also gives the fans the impression that their vote can result in someone winning a title and making WWE history.

Prediction: R-Truth gets the fan vote and then the best of Benjamin to become new United States champion.

Rey Mysterio vs. Kane
No Holds Barred match

Falls count anywhere would suit Mysterio and Kane better, but No Holds Barred gives Rey a great chance at winning. With a Mysterio win, we may finally see the end of this feud which has carried on for 3 Pay-Per-Views now. Expect Mysterio to win after the use of all sorts of foreign objects.

Prediction: Rey Mysterio wins a No Holds Barred match, pinning Kane.

Big Show vs. Undertaker
Last Man Standing

Early indications have been that there will be a Casket Match between these two at Survivor Series, the next Pay-Per-View. If that's the case it's tough to see Undertaker winning here. If it were an "I Quit" match, it's hard to imagine Taker saying he quits. Fans will most likely vote for a Last Man Standing contest, and if we don't get a double loss (like Undertaker and Batista last year), we will see Show with a second TKO. Show may score the knockout then say he'll get his third and final KO to put Undertaker away in a casket match.

Prediction: Big Show delivers a knockout blow to Undertaker in a Last Man Standing match to win it.

Evan Bourne vs. Matt Hardy
ECW Title match

This could be the match of the card, with the newcomer and very gifted high-flying Bourne taking on ECW champ Matt Hardy. While it could be a very entertaining match, don't get your hopes up, because no matter what, Mark Henry will find a way to come in and interfere. It's possible we see a clean Hardy pinfall, but we may also see a Mark Henry-based disqualification. Henry will be upset over not being in the title picture, and will let his anger be seen and felt by Matt Hardy/Evan Bourne.

Prediction: Matt Hardy retains his title due to a clean pin or Mark Henry interfering for a DQ.

Jeff Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov vs. Triple H
WWE Title Match

Fans will vote for the classic Triple Threat match, to see Triple H defending his WWE belt. In recent weeks Kozlov has decimated both Jeff and Triple H. In this match, most likely Kozlov gets taken out of the ring equation somehow, making it Jeff versus Triple H. Or Kozlov lays out Jeff, then Triple H manages to score the win to set up a future Kozlov vs. HHH title match.

Prediction: HHH defeats Jeff Hardy by pinfall to retain his WWE title and set up a future match with Kozlov.

Batista vs. Chris Jericho
World Heavyweight Title Match
Special Guest Referee

The storyline seems to make Shawn Michaels the nod for this match, but the fans still love Stone Cold. It may turn out that Austin wins the vote but doesn't serve as special ref. Or he does win the vote, referees it for a while, is somehow taken out of the match, and HBK rushes down as the new ref. No matter what the situation, Jericho will somehow retain his title to set up a future match involving Batista and Michaels.

Prediction: With Stone Cold as special referee, Chris Jericho manages to defeat Batista and win by pinfall.

And let's not forget the WWE Divas Halloween contest! It most likely will be a repeat win by Mickie James, a fan favorite, although now that Kelly Kelly is on Raw and a friend of Cryme Tyme, she may be able to "steal" the fan's vote!

This should be an interesting Pay-Per-View, as the WWE has to really second guess fan voting and prepare an entertaining contest that keeps the stories in check. Don't expect too many surprises or title changes, but we may see a few. Check back here after the Pay-Per-View end time of about 11PM EST to get all the results and match recaps!

the problem is that the product is admittedly 'sports entertainment.'

do you think the results that the fans actually vote is really what they claim or is it just a facade

I think fans will vote in piper, but wwe will advertise the choice in a close race as honky n goldust will get almost no votes [less than 7% of total]

the logical match is 3-h v vladimir, but fans will not exclude jeff, so count him in the match
