Smackdown Preview 01.02.09
The first Smackdown of 2009 features a reunion of two brothers who bring WWE gold into the New Year with them. Matt and Jeff Hardy, the ECW & WWE Champions respectively, will team up to face the duo of Edge & Big Show. Edge is of course still hell bent on regaining his lost WWE Championship belt. He claims that Jeff Hardy robbed him of it at Armageddon. There's also the matter of Jeff's attack prior to Survivor Series in Boston. Triple H and Edge each claimed that the other man assaulted Hardy, but as of now it still remains a mystery to Jeff and the WWE Universe. Tonight, Matt & Jeff will have to work together again to overcome the largest of all Superstars, Big Show, and the Ultimate Opportunist, Edge. Will the champs have what it takes to win the match? Or will Vickie's heels have some tricks up their sleeves to get the job down?
Last week's Smackdown also saw a brand new WWE Divas Champion crowned, as Maryse was able to finally defeat Michelle McCool. The special guest referee was Maria, and following the match, Michelle McCool and her got into a brawl of their own. As Michelle attacked Maria, Maryse proudly left the scene with her new belt. Just days later though, Maryse injured her kneecap at a live WWE event, leaving her title reign in question. Will Maryse be able to defend the title, or will she be forced to vacate it? What will go down next between Maria and Michelle McCool, as the two divas can't seem to get along?
Smackdown is also preparing for the debut of possibly its most bizarre superstar yet. Kizarny, a carnival worker will be making his in-ring debut in 2009 as part of the Smackdown roster. He's been seen in promotional advertisements during Smackdown, but has yet to show the WWE Universe his skills in the ring. Smackdown is full of interesting characters and many are hungry for the various championships being worn. Will Kizarny set his sights on a particular title or a superstar, or will another wrestler set their sights on disrupting Kizarny's debut?
