Summerslam 2009 Pay-Per-View arrives Sunday, August 23r,d 2009 and presents us with several title matchups in addition to the return of D-Generation X. We've got Cena back in the singles WWE title picture as he tries to regain the championship from longtime champ Randy Orton. Jeff Hardy defends in what should be an interesting Tables, Ladders, Chairs match. Meanwhile Dolph Ziggler and Cryme Tyme go for various titles to see if they can capture success. I see a total of 3 title changes on the card, so let's go ahead and check out the predictions for Summerslam 2009...
Prediction: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over MVP.
Prediction: Khali wins via pinfall over Kane.
Christian vs. William Regal
A late addition to Summerslam, announced just this past week. Somehow, Regal became catapulted into top contender status on ECW, and seems prepared to battle Christian. I don't see Christian dropping the title yet, and not sure if Regal will ever be given ECW title. Perhaps WWE rewards his stellar career with a somewhat major title, but not right now. Christian gets the win, possibly after Vlad Kozlov or Ezekiel Jackson try to interfere, or Regal cheats.
Prediction: Christian wins to retain the ECW title, possibly due to a DQ finish.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio
Like I said in the previous WWE PPV predictions, it seems an appropriate time to give Ziggler the IC title. He's got the look and skills in the ring, and I think giving him this title would set up a nice feud with John Morrison. No disrespect to Mysterio, but I think he'll be one of our two title losers at Summerslam.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins via pinfall to become new Intercontinental Champion.
Cryme Tyme vs. Big Show & Chris Jericho
This match may be the biggest no brainer on the card, or the biggest potential for a real surprise victory. Jericho and Show have proclaimed they are the greatest tag team of all time, and quite honestly Cryme Tyme isn't in their league. Jericho and Show with the big win to continue making statements.
Prediction: Big Show & Chris Jericho win via pinfall over Cryme Tyme to retain the Unified Tag Team Titles.
Prediction: D-Generation X wins via pinfall over Legacy.
John Cena vs. Randy Orton
As his song so properly says "The Time is Now". Cena keeps telling us we'll be able to say "the champ is here" again, but it hasn't come true quite yet. He seems to thrive on big Pay-Per-Views, and there's a payoff for his fans. He won the title before at Summerslam, and with my best guess he does it again Sunday. Cena will hit his finisher The Attitude Adjustment, because as we've seen he hasn't hit it on Orton in the weeks leading up to the event. Cena becomes the new WWE Champ ending Orton's lengthy reign.
Prediction: John Cena wins via pinfall over Randy Orton to become WWE Champion.
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
You keep hearing rumors about Hardy being on his way out of WWE, possibly ready to do a farewell tour with his brother Matt Hardy. There's also been rumors that Matt might swerve again and somehow cost Jeff the title again. On Smackdown, interestingly Matt took a winning pinfall on CM Punk. Is this a sign that Punk will be regaining the title and Matt battling him for it? A sign Matt will say he's better than Jeff again? Let's hope not. As for this match it's going to be the best on the card. It appears sad but true that Jeff Hardy will be leaving WWE for some time.
On a side note, Jeff and Matt Hardy are just two of the many WWE wrestlers on Twitter. Matt posted this Twitter message the other day:
"DO NOT miss Smackdown tonight.. The Hardys team again in what could possibly be the last time ever-you never know what the future holds."
So several things may happen here... 1)Jeff wins and the WH title is vacated for some reason; 2)Punk regains the title; 3)Another competitor is added to the match, Matt Hardy or John Morrison.
Most likely Punk wins, and then Morrison or Matt (or both) begin competing for the top spot. This should be a hell of a match to end the PPV though.
Prediction: Punk defeats Jeff Hardy to win the World Heavyweight Title.

I see a total of 3 title changes on the card, so let's go ahead and check out the predictions for Summerslam 2009...
MVP vs. Jack Swagger
This feud got started due to Jack Swagger calling out MVP for doing time in prison, yet now the fans are on his side. Swagger and MVP both have had their cocky attitudes so this is a battle of bragging rights. It would seem that Swagger needs the win to go over on Raw. There's not many contenders for the WWE Title right now, or fresh ones at least. With Batista out, and with the whole HHH, Michaels, Cena, Orton always in the picture, you'd think maybe Jack Swagger is going to be injected into the big title picture soon. Swagger wins here to begin his push forward on Raw. The feud probably will continue beyond this match though, unless they make Swagger severely injure MVP to get DQ'd.Prediction: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over MVP.
The Great Khali vs. Kane
This feud may have been going on for years. If you remember back, Khali and Kane met at another Pay-Per-View once before, yet now they're crossing paths again. This time, it's due to Kane constantly interfering in Khali's matches. He cost Khali a win in a No DQ match against Dolph Ziggler at a PPV months ago, and recently kidnapped Khali's manager Ranjin Singh. Kane's constantly been on the run though, with Khali chasing him. Khali finally gets Kane in the ring, and this should be his shot at a win, barring some sort of DQ by Kane using a weapon. Neither of these guys are in any sort of push, so this might be a Pick Em. I'll pick Khali and hope this feud doesn't last too long.Prediction: Khali wins via pinfall over Kane.
Christian vs. William Regal
ECW Title Match
A late addition to Summerslam, announced just this past week. Somehow, Regal became catapulted into top contender status on ECW, and seems prepared to battle Christian. I don't see Christian dropping the title yet, and not sure if Regal will ever be given ECW title. Perhaps WWE rewards his stellar career with a somewhat major title, but not right now. Intercontinental Title Match
Like I said in the previous WWE PPV predictions, it seems an appropriate time to give Ziggler the IC title. No disrespect to Mysterio, but I think he'll be one of our two title losers at Summerslam.Prediction: Dolph Ziggler wins via pinfall to become new Intercontinental Champion.
Cryme Tyme vs. Big Show & Chris Jericho
Unified Tag Team Title Match
This match may be the biggest no brainer on the card, or the biggest potential for a real surprise victory. Jericho and Show have proclaimed they are the greatest tag team of all time, and quite honestly Cryme Tyme isn't in their league. Jericho and Show with the big win to continue making statements.Prediction: Big Show & Chris Jericho win via pinfall over Cryme Tyme to retain the Unified Tag Team Titles.
D-Generation X vs. Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase
The WWE Universe witnessed Triple H as he found his old buddy Shawn Michaels and the duo since reunited, making for a big return to WWE. Now that they're back they're ready to go after Legacy and really make a statement. No reason DX wouldn't win this match, unless it's to extend their feud with Legacy a bit. If Legacy wins it'll be due to some sort of mischief, because this win for DX should be a sure thing.Prediction: D-Generation X wins via pinfall over Legacy.
John Cena vs. Randy Orton
WWE Title Match
As his song so properly says "The Time is Now". Cena keeps telling us we'll be able to say "the champ is here" again, but it hasn't come true quite yet. He seems to thrive on big Pay-Per-Views, and there's a payoff for his fans. He won the title before at Summerslam, and with my best guess he does it again Sunday. Cena becomes the new WWE Champ ending Orton's lengthy reign.Prediction: John Cena wins via pinfall over Randy Orton to become WWE Champion.
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
World Heavyweight Title TLC Match
You keep hearing rumors about Hardy being on his way out of WWE, possibly ready to do a farewell tour with his brother Matt Hardy. There's also been rumors that Matt might swerve again and somehow cost Jeff the title again. On Smackdown, interestingly Matt took a winning pinfall on CM Punk.
