2009 TLC Results & PPV Coverage!


Welcome to the 2009 TLC PPV results page, provided by WWE Characters the Blog. Here you will find updated results from this year's Tables, Ladders & Chairs Pay-Per-View event. Results will become available after 8PM EST as each match has completed, all the way until 11PM EST when TLC PPV has ended. Here you'll find out who the big winners are from this innovative new Pay-Per-View featuring five of the WWE's various championships on the line!

Of particular interest will be D-Generation X taking on JeriShow in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match, #1 Contender Sheamus battling John Cena for the WWE title in a Table match, and Batista taking on Undertaker in a Chairs match for the World Heavyweight title. Other titles on the line include the ECW title and Intercontinental title, as well as a grudge match between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton.

The WWE's 2009 TLV PPV officially ended by 11PM EST, full results below...

2009 TLC PPV Results


Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian
ECW Title (Ladder Match)

About 3 1/2 minutes into this opening bout, Christian had set up a ladder and attempted to grab the ECW belt hanging above the ring, but was stopped. Moments later in the match, Shelton knocked Christian's legs out from under him as he was setting up a ladder. Christian was hit hard in the face with the ladder and began to bleed. The medical staff had to tend to Christian's open cut, because as commentator Matt Striker said the Texas athletic commission requires immediate treatment for any bleeding athlete. The crowd still chanted "we want blood" appropriately for an ECW match.

Christian was fixed up and the match resumed. Just over 13 minutes in, both men fought on one of the ladders, when Shelton managed to power slam Christian off. Shelton got left hanging from where the belt was when Christian pulled the ladder away from him a minute later. Christian used another ladder to get up and trade spots with Shelton. Shelton managed to yank Christian off there and ended up throwing him into a ladder in the corner of the ring.

In the final exciting moments of this one, Shelton was left lying on a ladder which was extended from the ring apron onto the announcers' table. Christian did a huge Frogsplash from the top rope onto Shelton, breaking the ladder in the process. He got back in the ring, climbed a ladder and yanked down his ECW title to retain.

Winner: Christian wins the ladder match over Shelton Benjamin to retain the ECW Championship.



Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison
Intercontinental Title match


The young superstar Drew McIntyre was in control of the title match for a good five minutes, until Morrison hit a DDT on him to start a comeback. Both men ended up on the outside of the ring brawling. Morrison hit a Chuck kick to take down McIntyre. Once they were back in the ring, Morrison went for Starship Pain but was unable to connect fully. McIntyre broke up the pin by getting his feet on the ropes.

Later still, things got hectic as the Intercontinental title belt was in the ring. The referee tried to clear the belt from the ring, and McIntyre got a cheapshot eye rake on Morrison, then followed with his Scot Drop double-arm underhook DDT to get the pinfall victory, and IC title.

Winner: Drew McIntyre wins via pinfall over John Morrison to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Vince McMahon congratulated the new IC champ McIntyre backstage. Josh Matthews was on hand to talk to Vince, who referred him to interview the new IC champ. McIntyre said he wasn't surprised he won the title so quickly. Sheamus entered the scene and notified everyone that McIntyre won't be the only new champion tonight.




Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool
Womens Title match

Michelle McCool dominated this one through the early stages of the match. About five minutes in, and Mickie James finally began to make her big comeback. The two divas fought to the outside. Back in the ring, Mickie with a near fall. Around the 7 minute mark Mickie climbed to the top rope. Layla who was ringside tried to knock Mickie off, but Mickie kicked her off the apron. Back in the ring, Mickie had another near fall. Moments later she was kicked down hard by McCool who scored the winning pinfall to retain.

Winner: Michelle McCool wins via pinfall over Mickie James to retain the WWE Womens Championship.



Sheamus vs. John Cena
WWE Title (Tables Match)

Cena started attacking the Celtic Warrior from the getgo. Early on, Sheamus was punching away at Cena who was hanging near the ropes. The match moved outside the ring, with both men getting in attacks near a table outside the ring. The fight went to the ramp, and Cena layed out Sheamus. He retrieved a table from near ringside and went at Sheamus on the ramp, swinging but missing.

The two opponents took the fight back to the ring. Sheamus dropped Cena with a huge kick, then went outside the ring to grab a table. He set it up in the corner of the ring but was unable to slam Cena through. Cena gained momentum and hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Sheamus recovered from the attack and tossed the table over the ropes so Cena couldn't slam him through it.

Cena went back outside to grab a table which he put in the center of the ring. He got Sheamus up on the ropes for an attempted Attitude Adjustment. Sheamus fought Cena off. The two battled some more, with Cena going for a Superplex on Sheamus up on the ropes. Instead, Sheamus shoved Cena off hard, causing him to go crashing through the table. Sheamus is your new WWE Champion!

According to the commentators, Sheamus arrived on Raw on October 26th, and is now the WWE champ. Cena looked upset over the loss, so he took a piece of the broken table and stuck it in his pocket as a souvenir.

Winner: Sheamus wins the Table match against John Cena to become the new WWE Champion.



Batista vs. The Undertaker
World Championship (Chair Match)


Early on both men traded punches and kicks as well as swings with the steel chairs, yet no connecting shots. Batista managed to Superplex Taker off the ropes early on. Moments later, it was Undertaker thwarting The Animal's attempted finisher, but backdropping him ont a steel chair. Undertaker was able to hit Old School off the ropes and then Snake Eyes on Batista. As he started to charge at Batista, the Animal speared him down. He then slammed Taker on a chair and got riled up by stomping his foot down near the ropes. As Batista, went over to get Taker, the Deadman grabbed him and locked him into the Hell's Gate submission, with Batista managing to get the ropes.

Later still, Undertaker was able to Chokeslam Batista at about the 12 minute mark and nearly got the pinfall. He signaled for another finisher and went for the Tombstone. Batista got out of it and shoved Taker at the ref in the ring corner. Taker stopped himself short, but Batista crouched down and quickly did a low blow on Undertaker from behind. He grabbed a chair to bash over Taker's skull and took the pinfall, thinking he was new champ.

After the bell had sounded, Smackdown GM Teddy Long came out from backstage. He said this was a Chairs match and chairs were legal, but low blows are not legal, so the match would restart. Batista was forced to head back to the ring, where Undertaker clocked him with a chair, then did the Tombstone Piledriver for the win.

Winner: The Undertaker wins via pinfall over Batista to retain the World Heavyweight Title.



Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton



Early on, The Viper managed to gain control of the match outside the ring. Back inside, he began kicking away at Kofi in the midsection, before throwing him onto the top rope. Kofi was able to recover and hit the SOS on Orton for a near fall. He continued with the momentum, until Orton stopped him and hit a backbreaker. Kofi was able to make another comeback, and this time hit his double leg drop. Kofi hyped up the crowd, then hit Trouble in Paradise for another near fall.

Later in the match, Orton was able to DDT Kofi from in between the ropes. He went for the punt kick, with Kofi blocking it with his arm. It appeard Kofi injured his arm by blocking Orton's kick, so The Viper wisely targeted his injury. Kofi managed to get back and went for Trouble in Paradise again, but Orton ducked it, then hit his RKO to win it.

Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Kofi Kingston.



D-Generation X vs Chris Jericho & Big Show
Unified Tag Team titles (TLC Match)

Early on, the action split up as Triple H and Big Show battled near the ringside area, while Jericho and HBK remained in the ring. Eventually, all four guys ended up at the top of the ramp, where Jericho went for a chair shot on HHH. HBK went backstage though and grabbed his own chair to retaliate.

Michaels went back and forth battling the two heels while HHH was out of the equation. Eventually the heels took control, and they went to the ring. Big Show attempted to get a ladder into the ring to Jericho, but DX came back to stop him. Moments later, Michaels went up a ladder for the belt, but Big Show delivered a headbutt on HHH then yanked Michaels off the ladder. From there, JeriShow took control of the match, until DX managed a comeback when Hunter DDT'd Big Show down. Despite DX's momentum, Big Show was able to recover and speared HHH down moments later.

Big Show made a move to get the belt by climbing the ladder, but HHH used a chair to smash on his back. Big Show was upset and climbed down, then punched the steel chair right into HHH's face. Big Show again went for the ladders, with Michaels trying to stop him, but Show pushed him down. Finally, DX teamed up so they could push the ladder over. HHH hit the Pedigree on Big Show and Michaels shoved Jericho down.

HBK went up the ladder after the 16 minute mark, but Chris Jericho was able to knock him off. HBK went flying off the ladder and outside the ring right into Big Show's arms out on the floor. Jericho tried for the belts, with HHH preventing it. Moments later, Big Show put DX inside a ladder just like he did on Raw last week. Jericho smashed a chair on it repeatedly, and the ladder eventually broke. Show pulled it away, and part of the ladder caught HBK on his side, injuring him a bit. Big Show was able to punch Michaels in the injured area and sent him outside the to the floor.

Big Show hoisted up his partner to try to get the belt again. DX was back in the ring and knocked Jericho down, causing him to go flying over the top rope and onto a table out there. Jericho hit his head on the table as he came down. From there, HHH grabbed part of the broken ladder and held it in place for HBK to climb up. Michaels was able to pull down the belt, giving DX the tag team championships for their first time in history. HBK and HHH celebrated with their newly acquired hardware in the ring as the PPV closed out.

Winners: D-Generation X wins the TLC match over Chris Jericho & Big Show to win the Unified Tag team Championship belts.
