Raw Revelations: Call it "Mini-Raw"
Verne Troyer has never been much of an Oscar-caliber actor, since his movies involve a lot of physical gags or silly little routines. In fact he doesn't speak in the Austin Powers movies much, if at all. So it was only fitting he hosted the WWE's Raw show this past Sunday night. He was involved in a few brief segments, including sitting on a high stool up on the top of the ramp to tell people how much fun he had at Summerslam.
Now on the other hand, the Miz' delivery of mocking Austin Powers lines towards Troyer was pretty well done. He even had a line saying they could call Troyer "Mini-Miz". Miz has really come a long way since his days on MTV's The Real World, and his days on Smackdown with the "Hoo-rah!" yell he would do. Since being drafted to Raw, he's been the real "MVP" of the show so far, in terms of becoming a heel able to generate heat from the crowd while also getting some good laughs. That's the type of stuff WWE needs more of.
I'm sure a lot of fans loved Carlito's speech aimed directly at Cena in the ring on Raw too. Carlito was making his "big return", although he may not have been missed all that much. On Raw he came out to interrupt John Cena's in-ring calling out of Sheamus. Carlito basically layed the groundwork for the story on the Sheamus vs Cena title match for TLC; most of the WWE wants to see someone besides Cena with the belt. The WWE rosters are tired of Cena being champ. I agree with that, although Cena sells merchandise and Sheamus won't. So will WWE have the cajones to put the belt on Sheamus at the TLC PPV?
This coming week's Raw is going to be hosted by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. The guys another billionaire much like Mr. McMahon, and he's got more personality than many of the other hosts. I'm not sure how much of a WWE fan he is, but he's been known to heckle referees at NBA games and pay out some rather large fines. So we might see him put on a special guest referee shirt for Raw to get some sweet revenge in the officiating position.
Next week will also see Jericho face D-Generation X in a handicap match. Hate to play spoiler but does anyone else foresee Big Show getting involved anyways?
