Smackdown Preview 02.12.10
Tonight's Smackdown episode will feature a "Chamber Prelude" as all six competitors for the upcoming Elimination Chamber match will square off in singles matches against each other. It appears according to the WWE.com graphic shown, that the pairings are R-Truth versus John Morrison, Rey Mysterio versus CM Punk, and Chris Jericho versus The Undertaker. All six men will be looking to score big and make an impact to gain serious momentum heading into the Chamber PPV. How will they fare in their singles matches on Smackdown? Will the matches all be contested fairly, or see outside interference from other competitors?
Also, there's plenty of interesting situations brewing for Smackdown as of the past week or so. One of these incidents involves the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels, who angrily demanded that Smackdown GM Theodore Long trade for him to come to Smackdown and allow him to join the Elimination Chamber match. Michaels continues to be obsessed with finding a way to get his rematch with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26. Long informed Michaels he just couldn't trade and the Chamber match was set, but HBK wasn't happy with the answer. Long ended up on the receiving end of a Superkick, and it's unclear if he'll be able to participate in Smackdown tonight. Will Smackdown's GM be there to preside over the show, or will someone else be taking his place tonight?
Two other events which are likely to shake up the Smackdown roster are going on as well. First off, the return of the Rated-R Superstar Edge to Smackdown has created quite the scenario as far as the title picture goes. Edge is looking ahead towards Wrestlemania 26 as the winner of the 2010 Royal Rumble match. It appears Edge will make a decision of who he will face once the Elimination Chamber has decided the World Heavyweight Champion. Meanwhile, he's got Chris Jericho and The Undertaker in his sights. Also, with the recent news of ECW's end coming to SyFy, the superstars of ECW will all be free agents. Several are likely to wind up as Smackdown superstars. What will Edge's next move be as he looks ahead for his WM26 competition? Will any of the ECW superstars show up on Smackdown like Christian did on Raw?
