Raw Results 09/05/11


WWE Raw Results from Columbus, OH:

The show opened with CM Punk coming out to reiterate his claims that Triple H and Nash were involved in some sort of plot against him. CM Punk kept talking until Nash showed up from backstage, and eventually their war of words got Nash walking towards the ring.

COO Triple H came down to the ring and Nash suggested Hunter needs to do something about Punk. HHH said Punk hasn't lied to him no matter what the situation, so tonight he's getting rid of someone. Hunter revealed that he learned it was Nash who texted himself at Summerslam and then went to attack Punk. Nash started to shove Triple H again and then got punched down by HHH. HHH told Nash he's fired, and left the ring. CM Punk walked by Nash and told him "best wishes in your future endeavors."




Backstage, an irate Kevin Nash was storming off to leave in a car. John Lauranaitis was trying to calm him down and eventually got in the car with him as it left the area.

Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne defeated the Smackdown team of Jinder Mahal and Great Khali in a non-title match. Evan Bourne hit Air Bourne on Mahal for the winning pin.

Alberto Del Rio was shown arriving in the backstage parking garage area with Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio had missed last week's Raw and Smackdown shows.

Beth Phoenix defeated Eve Torres by pinfall to become the #1 contender for the WWE Divas Championship. Kelly Kelly and Natalya were both on guest commentary. When Kelly went to check on Eve post-match, she got knocked down by Natalya.




Christian was talking to Drew McIntyre backstage saying he deserves one more shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Alberto Del Rio came up and said he needed a word with Christian, so Drew left the scene. Del Rio reminded Christian that John Cena hit an Attitude Adjustment on him 24 hours before his World Heavyweight title match, so that may have cost him the match. He told Christian they'd both be champions right now if not for Cena and then let Christian think it over.

R-Truth was shown talking to himself backstage in preparation for his match against CM Punk. The Miz was shown in a suit ready to escort him to the match.




CM Punk vs R-Truth

Late in the match, Punk ran against the ropes with Miz grabbing his leg. Punk dropkicked Miz through the ropes. Miz started to pull off his jacket on the ramp ready to fight. The ref jumped out of the ring and tossed Miz, sending him backstage. Punk was watching it all go down, and Truth got up to attack him. Truth punched Punk from behind and went to whip him across the ring, but Punk picked up Truth on his shoulders and hit GTS for the win.

Punk barely had time to celebrate because COO HHH came to the ring. He told Punk he changed their match for NOC PPV. It'll be a no disqualification, anything goes match because HHH wants to hurt him. HHH went to leave the ring, but Punk stopped him and said he'll agree to that if HHH agrees to his stipulation. If Punk wins, HHH resigns as COO of WWE. Hunter said "done" and threw the mic down, then left the ring.

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over R-Truth.

Backstage, Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks were talking to Wade Barrett about some new plans they had. Alberto Del Rio walked in and said he needed to speak to Barrett, so Reks and Hawkins left. Del Rio reminded Barrett of how Cena embarrassed him on Smackdown by winning in under 5 minutes. Wade told Del Rio he'd been humiliating Cena before Alberto even arrived to WWE. He said he doesn't need incentive to go after John Cena.




Jerry Lawler & Myster Partner vs. David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty

Jerry Lawler was making his way to the ring for a match against McGillitcutty and Otunga. Lawler said he selected a tag team partner tonight who's bursting with personality, unlike his opponents...Long Island Iced Z, Zack Ryder. They had a lengthy promo video with footage from Ryder's YouTube episodes before Ryder came to the ring with Lawler for the match.

During the match, Cole told JR to let this be a lesson they can't have opinions on commentary about the wrestlers. The action broke down with Lawler and Otunga the legal competitors. Lawler did his diving punch from the corner down onto Otunga and was ready for the pin but Ryder begged for a tag in. Lawler finally obliged. Ryder rushed in, ducked Otunga's attack and hit Rough Ryder for the win.

Winners: Jerry Lawler & Zack Ryder win via pinfall over Michael McGillicutty & David Otunga.

Backstage, Alberto Del Rio was talking to Dolph Ziggler. He brought up how there's a rumor that Vickie Guerrero is looking to dump him. Ziggler brought up a rumor that Del Rio's afraid of John Cena. The Bella Twins came up to Del Rio and said they missed him last week. He told them to give him five minutes and he'll be ready, so they walked off. Del Rio reminded Ziggler how Cena was always making fun of Vickie and Dolph never did anything about it. He said Vickie's not looking for Swagger as a client so much as she wants someone to fight for her. He left Ziggler to think about it.





Randy Orton vs. Heath Slater

Orton made textbook work of his opponent tonight. At one point, he started clotheslining down Slater, then hit the big scoop slam. Orton grabbed Slater and put him on the middle ropes so he could hit the DDT move. He started pounding the mat hard, then hit the quick RKO for the win.

Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Heath Slater.

Backstage, Zack Ryder was all excited as he told John Cena about his big win tonight. He said they're filming his show, selling his headbands and sunglasses now. He put the plastic shades on Cena, who cut him off. Cena questioned what idiot wears sunglasses indoors. He handed them back to Ryder joking around and started walking off. Ryder started bragging to the camera crew that Cena was on his show. Cole said it looks like Cena will now address the WWE Universe.




John Cena arrived out to the ring with his theme music playing. The commentators reviewed Alberto Del Rio's attack on Cena two weeks ago on Raw. Cena started talking about how Del Rio keeps ducking him. Cena said he predicts that Tatu from Fantasy Island will come out again and introduce Del Rio driving some exotic rental luxury car that Del Rio doesn't know the name of.

Del Rio arrived out in a Phantom worth $150k, then got out with the WWE Championship and a mic in hand. Del Rio reminded Cena that Rey Mysterio won't be there for a long time, because of him. Del Rio said he didn't do the same to Cena two weeks ago, so Cena would have a fighting chance at Night of Champions. Del Rio said he didn't show up last week because he's trying to protect Cena. He said he can't say the same about his amigos from Raw.

Wade Barrett and Jack Swagger rushed the ring and then Dolph Ziggler arrived. Christian joined the fray and all four started to hammer away on Cena. Alex Riley and Sheamus rushed to the ring to attack some of the heels. John Morrison came down next and did a running clothesline off a crowd barrier to take Christian down ringside.

Smackdown GM Theodore Long arrived out saying Triple H gave him authority to intervene when necessary. Long said the four guys outside the ring will face the guys in the ring in an eight man tag team elimination match.

Alex Riley, John Morrison, Sheamus & John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Wade Barrett & Christian
8-Man Tag Elimination Match

At one point in the match, Ziggler had a hold locked on Morrison, but Swagger tagged himself in. Swagger put the Ankle Lock on Morrison as Ziggler was forced to leave the ring. Morrison tapped out to become 1st elimination. Vickie Guerrero arrived down to the ring right before Raw went to commercial break.

Later, Swagger tagged himself in again by slapping Ziggler's back. Swagger managed to hit his Vader Bomb on Riley in the corner, before applying the ankle lock to make his second elimination, leaving Cena and Sheamus as the only faces.

The third elimination came as Barrett tried for a Gutwrench into Wasteland. Sheamus escaped his clutches and came back with the running Brogue Kick to eliminate Barrett by pinfall.
Christian quickly rushed in with a spear on Sheamus but couldn't capture the pin. Sheamus was in the ring when Christian went to the apron. Christian slapped Sheamus in the face, prompting an angry reaction from Sheamus. Sheamus chased Christian into the crowd and then back out, and up the ramp. Sheamus took down Christian and started to pound away on him. The ref called for the bell for the double countout.

It came down to Cena versus Swagger and Ziggler with Vickie Guerrero ringside. Swagger started to dominate Cena, but then Cena made his "vintage comeback." He hit a double Five Knuckle Shuffle on both Ziggler and Swagger, but couldn't get the AA. Swagger did another running Vader Bomb and landed on Cena. However, Swagger backed up preparing for the finish, but Ziggler tagged his back to get into the match.

Swagger and Ziggler started to argue. The distraction allowed Cena to grab the advantage and hit the AA on Ziggler for an elimination. Swagger rushed right in and put the Ankle Lock. Cena struggled a bit, then reversed it by grabbing Swagger's leg and tripping him down into the STF. Swagger tapped out.

Del Rio rushed into the ring to attack Cena, but Cena ducked his clothesline then hit the AA on him. Del Rio rolled out of the ring and had Rodriguez help him back up the ramp.

Winners: John Cena wins the 8-man tag team elimination match after eliminating Jack Swagger.
