Raw Results 09/30/13

Raw Results from Biloxi, MS:

Raw started off with CM Punk arriving to the ring to talk about what happened last week when he was attacked by Axel and Ryback.  Punk mentions wanting to get his hands on Axel and make him go to sleep, then getting his hands on Ryback to make him see what really happens to bullies.  He adds the story will end when he gets his hands on Paul Heyman, finally.  Punk says the story could end tonight and gets the fans chanting.  GM Brad Maddox arrives out to intervene.  He tells Punk ending the story tonight won't be best for business, and he has a shot at Ryback at the Battleground PPV.

Punk says he wants an outlet for his aggression and Big E Langston arrives out saying he's his man then.  Langston clocks Punk with the microphone and gives him a beatdown.  He hit a few shoulder thrusts in the corner.  Punk dodged one attempt.  Maddox ordered a ref to come down and start officiating the fight as a match.

CM Punk defeated Big E Langston via pinfall.  Late in this one, Big E hit a huge clothesline for a near fall.  He missed on a big splash attempt.  The two traded more offense, but Punk got the opportunity and put him up in the GTS, connected on it, and got the pinfall.

Kofi Kingston defeated Fandango via pinfall.  Kofi connected on Trouble in Paradise late in the match to get the win.  Post-match during his celebration, the lights went out, then Bray Wyatt showed up to light the lantern, heading to the ring with Rowan and Harper.  Kofi has a steel chair ready and waits for them.  Wyatt stops on the ramp then begins to talk about "why horrible things happen to him."  He says his nightmare has ended and now he knows what to do, one by one, they will "all fall down."  He adds to "follow the buzzards" then laughs as the lights go out.

Backstage, The Bella Twins are talking about the Battleground PPV.  Randy Orton walks up and congratulates Brie on her engagement to Daniel Bryan, then asks when the wedding is.  He says she should schedule it sooner rather than later, because there's a good chance Bryan won't make it down the aisle after this Sunday's PPV match.

Los Matadores defeated Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal via pinfall.  The team made their Raw debut (Epico and Primo) along with their bull mascot El Torito.  Matadores used a double team move to get the win.

Stephanie McMahon and Triple H came out to the ring.  They invited the Rhodes family to come out to the ring, guaranteeing them safety.  Dusty Rhodes' music hits and he arrived out along with Goldust and Cody, all dressed in suits.  After taunting Dusty a bit, Triple H and Stephanie say they want to give Cody his job back and Goldust a job, but they'll have to defeat The Shield at Battleground to get them.  If they lose, they're out of WWE - forever.  Dusty says he'll be in their corner at the PPV.  Stephanie says it seems Dusty is itching for a fight and if he's not careful he might get it.  Steph and HHH leave the ring.  The Rhodes family watches them head up the ramp, and then gets attacked out of nowhere by The Shield.  Goldust gets speared by Reigns.  Rollins and Ambrose beat down Cody, then they go after Dusty.  They triple team Cody and hit the triple powerbomb on him.  Rollins stomps on Dusty and taunts him.  The Shield stands tall over Dusty as replays are shown of what just happened.

R-Truth defeated Curtis Axel via pinfall in a non-title match.  Paul Heyman was at ringside.  During the match, Axel gained control but then CM Punk's music hit to interrupt.  Heyman looked worried at ringside and Axel was distracted by the theme music.  Truth was able to drop him for the win during the confusion. Post-match, Heyman realized it was Punk trying to play mind games.  Truth celebrates in the ring, taunting Heyman after the win.

Brie Bella defeated Alicia Fox via pinfall.  During the match, AJ Lee was shown watching backstage with Tamina Snuka standing by with her.  Brie hit her finisher to get the pinfall win.

Backstage, Axel is clutching the IC title belt and pacing around nervous.  Heyman tells him to settle down and that Punk is out of his league trying to mess with them.  Ryback shows up, saying if Punk wants them, then he can have them.  Heyman tells Ryback to go get himself some food, and he'll see him in a few minutes.  Heyman calls Ryback "beautiful," telling Axel since Ryback saved him, he has a new outlook on life.  He tells Axel he's going to go out to the ring and propose to Ryback.

Backstage, Renee Young interviewed Big Show, who said his financial problems are being held over his head.  He said he's done everything he's been told, including knocking out a guy he grew up idolizing.  He said he can't take it anymore and is going to go find HHH to show him exactly how he feels.  He says he's going to go knock HHH "the hell out" then walks off.

After a commercial, R-Truth is shown backstage, asking Brad Maddox for an Intercontinental Title shot against Axel.  Just then, Big Show walked in and demands to know where Triple H is.  He pushes Maddox up against the wall to get him to talk.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Zack Ryder via submission in a non-title match.  Del Rio blocked a late Ruff Ryder attempt by Zack, using a German Suplex and then a kick to Ryder's face.  He stomped on Ryder then locked in the cross armbreaker to make Ryder tap out.  Post-match, Del Rio posed with the title and kicked Ryder another time.

Ryback and Paul Heyman came down to the ring.  They talked about how Punk took all of the knowledge and friendship from Heyman and threw it back in his face.  Ryback says he couldn't let that stand.  He calls Heyman a genius, with his hand on Heyman's face.  Heyman talks about how beautiful Ryback is, and how 2013 is such a "progressive year."  He keeps talking up Ryback, and eventually drops down to one knee while grabbing Ryback's hand.  After teasing a marriage proposal, Heyman asks Ryback "will you be a Paul Heyman guy?"  CM Punk's music hits to interrupt, and the crowd roars.  However, Punk doesn't come onto the stage.

Punk tries to rush through the crowd to surprise Ryback and Heyman.  On the way, Punk slips on the crowd barrier and falls badly on his knee.  It appears real, but no trainers go to check on Punk.  Ryback and Heyman seem confused as they look on.  Punk attempts to walk it off, but then tried to get on the apron and fell to the floor, clutching at his knee.  Finally a trainer came down.  Heyman walked over looking concerned.  Suddenly, Punk springs up with his kendo stick.  Curtis Axel runs down and Punk takes him out with the stick.  Ryback and Heyman managed to flee up the ramp to the stage.  Punk continues to unload on Axel and leaves him laying on the ground from the attack.  Punk taunted Ryback from the ring as his theme music played on.

The Shield defeated Dolph Ziggler & The Usos via pinfall in a six man tag match.  Late in this one, Rollins came in to prevent a tag by one of the Usos.  Finally, a hot tag is made as Ziggler gets in just as Ambrose does.  Ziggler takes control and hits multiple elbow drops.  After more back and forth offense, he hit the Fameasser.  All six men got involved in the match.  Ziggler hit a Zig Zag on Rollins, but Reigns surprised him and speared Ziggler down to give Shield the win.

Backstage, Big Show was waiting in Triple H's office for the COO to come in so he could knock him out.  Instead, several police officers arrived with a detective.  Stephanie McMahon comes in and says she can vouch for him.  She says Show has been under a lot of pressure.  She says they have everything under control.  Steph says she talked to Show's wife earlier today and she said he doesn't measure up at home either.  All of the officers leave with Stephanie.  Show sits down and starts to cry.  He stands up after a few moments then sees a Triple H DVD cover poster hanging on the wall.  He punches the poster, putting a hole in the wall, then walks off.

Santino Marella defeated Antonio Cesaro via pinfall.  During the match, Cesaro was able to level Santino with a giant punch.  However, out of nowhere in the end, Santino got a quick pin to grab the surprise victory.  Post-match he celebrated with Great Khali and Hornswoggle who had come to the ring with him for the match.

Jerry Lawler hosted the in-ring face to face "verbal confrontation" between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan before their Battleground title match.  Orton says at first he was upset the title wasn't given back to him, but now it's motivated him to become "The Viper" again.  He said he'll beat Bryan on Sunday because he's genetically superior.  He calls Bryan a "small, pathetic, weak, B+ goat-faced troll."  Bryan says Orton talks a good game, then mocks Orton.  He talks about how Orton needs Triple H's motivation to reach his full potential, but Bryan has never needed motivation from anyone else.  He says he'll beat Orton for the title on Sunday.  The fans start up a "YES!" chant but Orton tells them all to shut up, then brings up the engagement between Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella.

Orton asks what's wrong with Brie that she's settling for "someone like Bryan."  He says one day she'll wake up realizing she married a barnyard animal and not somebody like Orton.  Bryan gets enraged and starts to unload on Orton.  Orton gets the upperhand and starts to beat up Bryan.  He sets up the draping DDT from the apron on the outside, but Brie comes rushing down to ringside and begs Orton to stop.  Orton looks at her, then hits the DDT planting Bryan face first on the floor.

Orton walks over towards Brie, scaring her into the crowd barrier.  He begins to take apart the announcers table, with Brie yelling at him to stop it.  Orton drops Bryan through the announcers table with the RKO with Brie watching.  Referees and officials come over to check on Bryan as Orton walks off.  Brie rushes over to check on Bryan.  Orton watches the scene, as Raw goes off the air.

Raw Results 09/16/13

Raw Results from Cleveland, OH:

Daniel Bryan came out with the WWE championship and said he had a lot to say but for now "YES!" says it  best.  The fans started up the chant with him.  Triple H came out to interrupt, looking unhappy.  He brought up last night's referee situation and the fast count that went down in Bryan's winning pinfall.  He brought out referee Scott Armstrong and played back the video.  Armstrong admitted he made a mistake.  HHH sent him backstage then said it's clear Bryan was in conspiracy with a WWE official, so he's going to strip him of the title.  HHH tells Bryan to hand over the belt or he'll take it, as "NO" chants start up from the fans.  Orton's music hits and the former champ comes to the ring.  He tells HHH there won't be any fight here.  Bryan holds onto the title but HHH finally yanks it away and Orton hits the RKO on BRyan.  Triple H leaves the ring carrying the WWE title as Orton stands over Bryan.

After commercial, Orton is livid backstage as he comes in to complain to Triple H and Stephanie.  Stephanie gets into Orton's face and goes off on him saying he deserved to lose last night.  She asks him what happened to the old Orton, the one who handcuffed HHH and DDT'd her in the ring.  She tells him to go find that Orton.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Dean Ambrose via pinfall in a non-title match.  Ziggler made a late comeback and hit the Zig Zag for the win, earning himself another  title shot.

Backstage, Big Show was with Brad Maddox.  Stephanie and Triple H were there, with HHH saying Bryan will compete tonight against Roman Reigns.  Maddox tells them that Dusty Rhodes is here tonight and walks off.  Stephanie reminds Show about unemployment and how he's broke.  She tells him he'll stay in her office seated tonight and stay there unless she calls.  Show says yes, calling her Mrs. McMahon.

Fandango defeated R-Truth via pinfall.  Late in the match, Fandango hit a kick to the back of Truth's head then went to the top rope for his big leg drop move.

Dusty Rhodes came out to the ring talking about the long road his family's been down that the McMahon's haven't.  He tells them he isn't there to beg for Cody's job, but wants him to have a chance to earn it back.  He calls out Stephanie and she arrives out to the arena.  She and Dusty got into it, arguing about how they've raised their kids.  Stephanie eventually gave Dusty a choice, that they could hire back Cody, or give the job to Goldust.  Dusty said he won't choose and told Stephanie to go to hell.  The Shield's music hits and they surround the ring.  Stephanie calls them off then says she has someone in the back who can help and calls out Big Show.

Steph says since Dusty couldn't make the decision who to hire back, he can make another - get attacked by Shield or knocked out by Show.  Dusty refused to decide, so Stephanie tells Show to knock him out.  Show starts to cry and won't do it.  Stepanie calls the Shield in, with Reigns grabbing steel chairs for all three members of the group.  Show leans over to whisper something to Dusty, who nods.  Show hugs Dusty and after saying he has no choice, he hits him with the KO punch.  Dusty has to be taken away on a stretcher and in an ambulance.  Show rides in the ambulance with him.

Brie Bella, Naomi and Cameron defeated Alicia Fox, Aksana and Layla via pinfall.  Late in the match a huge brawl started with Brie getting the winning pinfall on Aksana.  Post-match, Natalya stares down AJ as the two had been on commentary.

Rob Van Dam defeated Damien Sandow via pinfall.  RVD went for Rolling Thunder late with Sandow getting both knees up.  Sandow had a nearfall, then there was more offense from RVD.  HE nailed a thrust kick from the corner, then hit the Five Star Frogsplash for the win.

Backstage, Triple H met with referee Scott Armstrong.  He said he's in a jam because there's no WWE Champion right now and that's a problem.  He tells Armstrong that WWE officials have to be of integrity.  He offers Armstrong a nice severance package, then fires him.  He tells him everything will be alright.

Randy Orton vs. The Miz ended as a no contest.  The Miz's parents were in attendance and Miz hugged them before the match.  Orton attacked right after.  During the match, Orton started to beat up Miz outside the ring right in front of his parents.  Orton hit the draping DDT from the crowd barrier with Miz's mother looking on.  Orton brought Miz into the ring with a steel chair, then put Miz's head between the chair.  Orton delivered a huge running knee drop on the  chair on Miz's head.  Officials had to come in to check on Miz as Orton looked at the damage he caused.

They had a segment where Ryback came out to the stage, with Curtis Axel pushing Paul Heyman behind him in a wheelchair.  Heyman brought up how Punk beat him so bad last night he's now confined to a wheelchair.  Heyman said one man stood up for him though when all others sat down.  Heyman says he's here tonight and can continue to torment Punk thanks to the actions of this big beautiful man, Ryback.  He says he owes him his life.  Ryback talks about how Punk is a bully and Heyman will never have to worry again as long as he's around.  He says Punk will never put his hands on him.  Heyman kisses Ryback on the cheek.  Ryback poses yelling "Ryback rules" before taking Heyman backstage.

The Usos defeated Real Americans & Tons of Funk in an elimination match to become new #1 contenders for the tag team titles.  Late in the match, it was down to the Real Americans vs. Usos.  Swagger put the Patriot Lock on the Uso, but he rolled through to kick Swagger away.  Jey Uso was the legal man and Swagger later suplexed him from the top, right after Jimmy made a blind tag Swagger hadn't seen.  Jimmy was able to nail the Splash from off the top corner to get the win and future tag team title shot.

They updated the condition status of Miz and Dusty Rhodes saying Miz has a broken thorax, and Dusty Rhodes is being kept overnight at a local hospital.

They had a promo video from Bray Wyatt and Family.  He talked about how in his world when one of the animals is sick, he puts them down.  They showed clips of him hitting his finisher on different opponents.  Bray said he's going to "put them all down."

Daniel Bryan was walking backstage as superstars cheered him on.  Brie Bella stopped him and gave Bryan a hug.  He headed to the ring before break.

Daniel Bryan defeated Roman Reigns due to disqualification.  Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose watched the match from ringside.  Late in the match, Bryan nailed a roundhouse kick on Reigns but was unable to secure a pinfall.  Reigns rolled to the outside.  Bryan ended up sending Rollins to the announcers table.  Bryan brought Reigns back into the ring and hit a dropkick in the corner on him.  He dropkicked Ambrose off the apron.  Reigns hit a huge clothesline on Bryan, but he made the comeback and put on the Yes Lock.  However, Orton rushed in to break the hold for the DQ.

Post-match, Bryan gets the upperhand and puts the Yes Lock onto Orton.  The Shield comes in to make a save.  Orton and Shield start the beatdown.  Orton gets a steel chair and puts Bryan's head in it like he did with Miz's earlier.  Suddenly, The Usos, Kofi Kingston, RVD, Dolph Ziggler, PrimeTime Players and others run out to save Bryan.  Reigns spears down Kofi and tries to fight other superstars.  The Usos doublekicked him, sending him out of the ring.  RVD knocks out Ambrose with a kick.  Rollins is left behind and gets hit by a huge knee from Bryan.  All of the Superstars started chanting "Yes!" as Orton fled the scene with Shield.  Young and O'Neil hoisted Bryan up on their shoulders with replays showing.  Raw went off the air with the "YES!" chant continuing.

Raw Preview 09.07.09

The celebrity guest hosting will continue with tonight's Labor day edition of Monday Night Raw. While there have been musicians, actors, sports stars and former wrestlers acting as the ones calling the shots for the show, there has yet to be an official game show host in charge. Tonight will see former Price is Right host, Bob Barker, step into the role of Raw's host. Barker just might introduce a new format to the show if he chooses to make matches that incorporate his various games from the popular game show. What sort of price will the superstars of Raw have to pay on tonight's show, as Breaking Point is impending? Will any wrestlers attempt to cross Barker as he is in charge?

Last week's guest host ended up pulling a double-cross move on several of Raw's major stars. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes scheduled a WWE Title match for his son Cody in the main event. All throughout the show, Cody continued to tell Randy Orton he was serious about going through with the main event since it was a golden opportunity. However, when the main event arrived with John Cena as special guest referee, Dusty Rhodes revealed it was a trap, and really a gift he gave to his son. Legacy launched a 3 on 1 attack on Cena, until the arrival of DX. Dusty made sure to thwart their attempts by clocking Triple H on the head with his boot. As Raw was ending, the foes stood triumphantly in the ring with DX and Cena down on the mat. However, Randy Orton had one more twist in store, as he delivered a surprise RKO to guest host Dusty Rhodes! Cody was unsettled by the move and as Raw ended it's unknown if Rhodes and Orton are speaking. What will Orton have to say regarding his actions last week? Will Cena and DX get revenge on tonight's show?

And finally, last week saw an entertaining Fatal Fourway match for the United States title. In the match, Kofi Kingston was pitted against The Miz, Jack Swagger, and Carlito. All three opponents looked impressive as they attempted to capture the US championship. Each was able to get in their finishing move towards the end of the match, but it was the intelligent Kofi Kingston who got the last move, his Trouble in Paradise Kick to knock Carlito to the mat. Kofi took the quick pinfall and escaped with his title still in tact. Kingston continues to enjoy his title reign, but it seems he will still have a target on his back. Which of the three sueprstars from the Fatal Fourway will become the new #1 Contender for Kingston's title?

Raw Revelations: American Dream Schemes

Quite a nice twist at the end of Raw last night. Special guest host Dusty Rhodes came out to start things and set up his son in a WWE Title match vs Orton for later in the show. He also added Cena as the special guest referee. All the way leading up to the big main event match, fans were probably thinking, there's no way in any way shape or form that Cody Rhodes would walk out with the WWE Title. And they were right, because the WWE Title match never happened. Instead, it turned out that the guest host Dusty Rhodes set up John Cena to be in the ring as special guest referee between Orton vs. Rhodes, only so he could get a Legacy beatdown.

D-Generation X eventually ran to the ring to try to help (seemed to take them a while), but to no avail as Dusty Rhodes used his boot to take out HHH before a Pedigree could happen on his son. In the aftermath of the attacks with DX and Cena laying on the mat, Orton delivered another shocker when he did the RKO on Dusty Rhodes right before Cody's eyes. Of course, it made Cody look rather weak when he simply pouted in the ring without taking a shot or attacking Orton, but I have a feeling that payback's coming at a later time. In fact, we'll probably see a Legacy turn at some point, when either Dibiase and Rhodes turn against Orton, or Dibiase and Rhodes enter into a feud.

The DX-Rhodes segments were pretty bad, just to try to sell some DVD's. Sometimes DX has some funny one-liners and acts backstage, but some of their recent stuff is some pretty bad improv and far from funny. After discussing WCW and then the 1998 back injury to HBK, Michaels was yelling maniacally and it's unclear how many fans really got what he was talking about or even found it funny. I'll also admit I'm familiar with a lot of WCW stuff, but hadn't seen The Shockmaster before, so I'm wondering how many fans got any of that bit. Well, at least it was a chance to put Santino on the show again. Arn Anderson shown on the mic nearby, then dropping it and running away was probably the funniest part of any of the DX-Rhodes skits backstage.

The Hornswoggle and Chavo shenanigans reached another new low, this time with Chavo having to put on a cow costume while Hornswoggle laughed maniacally and ran around the ring. It seems like pure time killer, but at least it's looking like they'll let Chavo and Evan Bourne do battle. Once that happens, Hornswoggle may have run out of opponents. He's a popular attraction at WWE events, but his novelty just might wear off without a Chavo to fight.

It looked like Miz finally picked up on the best strategy to win the US title in last night's Fatal Fourway; toss the champion out of the ring, to guarantee a new title winner. However, Miz, Swagger and Carlito were all too much for each other and it ended up with Kofi stealing the win on a Trouble in paradise kick to Carlito. I still think Miz or Swagger will eventually capture the title, propelling them to the next level, whatever that may be with Raw.

I enjoyed the Big Show vs Mark Henry match even if those guys aren't considered the best technicians or skilled wrestlers in the ring. The battle of the two big men was entertaining with each able to knock the other around in the ring. Show has the advantage but the World's Strongest Man put up a great fight, until Show used foulplay with the turnbuckle. Would be great to see some more of this one-on-one match in the future.

Not trying to be overly critical but does it seem as if Mickie James has been a bit clumsy in her recent title defenses? She seemed to have some stumble around moments in her match against Gail Kim and then again last night versus Beth Phoenix. There's not much to say about the divas battle royal, but you have to feel sorry for Rosa Mendes with how she just gets tossed out of the ring by Beth. Rosa's almost been like a diva jobber in the way she's been beaten by other divas. For some reason, I think Rosa would be paired better with Chavo Guerrero, but they have her with Carlito for now, maybe because he's a title contender and Chavo's fighting leprechauns.

Next week, the guest host for Raw will be Bob Barker...Remember that he was in "Happy Gilmore" and had the famous "The Price is wrong, b---h" line? Don't expect him to use that on Raw, with the supposed PG rating they're trying to adhere to. But it will be interesting to see if any of the Price is Right games are used on the show format.

Raw Recap 08.31.09

Raw Recap from Detroit, MI:

After the pyro and fanfare, commentator Michael Cole welcomed fans to the home of Wrestlemania 23, two years ago. Cole said Kofi Kingston's US Title could be in trouble tonight, because a Fatal Fourway will take place between Kofi, The Miz, Jack Swagger and Carlito. Also, Big Show and Mark Henry will do battle for WWE supremacy.

Lillian Garcia introduced tonight's guest host, WWE Hall of Famer, the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Cole and Lawler hyped up his appearance, as he's been part of the WWE for over 5 decades now. Rhodes danced on the ramp for a while as the commentators started talking and fans applauded him. Rhodes came to the ring to speak to the crowd who gave him a rousing "DUS-TY" chant. Rhodes hyped up the city of Detroit as a working color city, and then talked about his pride over his son Cody. The crowd booed that discussion, and the mention of Orton and Legacy.

Dusty mentioned the "I Quit" submission match scheduled for the WWE Title at Breaking Point PPV. Dusty said at the PPV it will be John Cena going against Cody Rhodes, because tonight he booked Cody to face Orton for the WWE Title, with Dusty in his corner. Rhodes then said special referee for the Orton vs. Rhodes match will be John Cena. Just as the crowd went wild, Randy Orton's music hit and out came The Viper to the ramp.

Orton called Dusty jealous of him because his son Cody looks up to Orton more than he does to The American Dream. Orton called the arranging of a title shot a pathetic and shameless act. Dusty told Orton that Rhodes is athletically gifted and hungry. Orton asked Rhodes to give him a reason not to kick him in the skull right now. Just then, Cody Rhodes came down the ramp and to the ring. Rhodes defended his father's legacy, then told Orton a WWE title shot is something he won't pass up. Rhodes said it's not personal, strictly business. Orton asked if Dusty will be in Cody's corner and Cena is guest ref, then said it's obvious "the fix is in" and Dusty Rhodes said he better believe it.

Backstage, six divas were being prepped by a referee about a battle royal's rules. Kelly Kelly, Rosa Mendes, Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Alicia Fox and Jillian Hall.

American Dream Six Divas Battle Royal

Kelly Kelly, Rosa Mendes, Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Alicia Fox and Jillian Hall competed for a chance to go against Mickie James for the Divas Championship later in the night. The match was under normal battle royal rules, where divas had to be sent out through the ropes to be eliminated.

Early on, Beth had Kelly on the ropes but couldn't push her out. Rosa accidentally bumped Beth, causing Beth to turn and grab Rosa then toss her over the ropes to eliminate her. Alicia and Jillian doubleteamed Kelly in the corner, while Beth beat on Gail in the other. Alicia did her finisher on Kelly Kelly, but just then Gail Kim grabbed her and ran her over to toss her over the ropes. Beth Phoenix scooped up Kelly and dumped her over the ropes. It was down to Gail, Jillian and Beth. Beth almost eliminated by Gail but held onto the side ropes. Gail based her head first into the ringpost but Beth remained on the apron. Jillian and Gail battled almost eliminating each other.

As Beth continued to recover from the apron, Gail and Jillian traded punches in the ring. Jillian kept picking up Gail to try to send her over the ropes with Gail fighting out. Finally, Jillian tried to throw Gail over the ropes but Gail held on, then used a headscissors to grab Jillian and pull her over the ropes. Just as Gail fell to the apron, Beth Phoenix came walking over smirking. As Gail got up, Beth delivered a hard kick to send Gail off the apron.

Winner: Beth Phoenix wins the six divas battle royal to become #1 Contender for the WWE Divas Championship.

Chris Jericho's pyro and music hit as Jericho came to the ring carrying his unified tag team belts.

MVP vs. Chris Jericho

Highlights were shown from last week's MVP & Mark Henry vs. Big Show and Chris Jericho match with Floyd Mayweather sliding some brass knuckles to MVP to deliver a knockout punch on Chris Jericho.At one moment in the first half of the match, Jericho knocked MVP onto the apron then did his kick by jumping off the ropes to send MVP to the floor. Raw took a commercial break.

Raw returned with MVP battling out of Jericho's choke hold on the mat. MVP sent Jericho to the corner, but Jericho retaliated. As Jericho jumped at MVP he was punched in the gut. Jericho came back though and hit a bulldog to take MVP down. Jericho missed on the Lionsault and MVP rolled out of the way, then hit a low dropkick. From there, it was the Ballin' elbow drop. MVP went for Playmaker, but Jericho reversed and tried to set up Walls of Jericho. MVP rolled him into a small package pin, and Jericho kicked out at 2. As both men got to their feet, Jericho did a quick Codebreaker out of nowhere to win it.

Winner: Chris Jericho wins via pinfall over MVP.

Backstage, Dusty Rhodes was checking out The Rise And Fall of WCW
DVD when DX came up to him. DX said that Legacy are disgraces to their father's heritages. They questioned the title shot Rhodes was getting tonight. Dusty said not to worry because once Cody wins, he'll give a member of DX the next WWE title shot. DX started to argue over who should get the title shot, then calmed down. Rhodes said they should hang out with him and watch the Rise and Fall of WCW DVD. Rhodes then pulled out his The Dusty Rhodes Story DVD and HHH chastised him for the shameless plug. Then HHH pulled out the DX DVD and plugged it as all three guys held up their DVD's next to each other. Michaels went over to try to figure out how to put a DVD in the DVD player with HHH warning Rhodes that HBK broke the camera at Summerslam.

Hornswoggle was shown backstage dressed up in cowboy hat and chaps, ready for his upcoming match.

Raw Rebound showed Hornswoggle vs Chavo last week in their boxing match. Chavo was given oversized gloves as a joke, and ended up tossing them off to slam Hornswoggle.

Hornswoggle vs. Chavo Guerrero
Special Texas Bullrope match

First competitor to tie his opponent with the Bull Rope would be the winner. Chavo came out dressed in a cow costume. The ref instructed Chavo he had one more thing for him per orders of Dusty Rhode, then left the ring to retrieve a giant Cow's head mask for Chavo to wear. Hornswoggle continued laughing maniacally. as the ref told Chavo to wear it or he'd forfeit.

Early on, Chavo couldn't see very well so Hornswoggle got in some quick moves including a strike to the gut and then rode Chavo a bit. Chavo bucked him off, then as Hornswoggle came off the ropes he was met by a boot by Chavo. Chavo got up and pulled his cow mask off looking ready for revenge. Chavo climbed the corner and got ready to do his splash, but just then Evan Bourne rushed down to ringside and pointed at him to stop.

Hornswoggle slid out of the ring then tugged the rope to cause Chavo to hit the mat. He got in the ring and put the cow head on Chavo's head backwards, then ran around him with the rope to tie him up. Evan Bourne came in the ring to celebrate with Hornswoggle, until Chavo knocked Bourne down from behind. Chavo backed Hornswoggle to the corner, but as Chavo ran, Horney moved aside. Chavo hit shoulder first, then Horney climbed the corner. Bourne ran over and put the Cow head on Hornswoggle before he jumped off for the Tadpole Frogsplash onto Chavo.

Winner: Hornswoggle wins the Special Texas Bullrope match.

A tale of the tape between Big Show and Mark Henry was shown. Show outweighs Henry 485 to 418 and is 7 feet tall while Henry is just 6'4". Henry's only advantage was the size of his biceps which were bigger by an inch. Show was shown walking backstage.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Early on, Henry shoved Big Show to the ropes several times after the two behemoths locked up. The two locked up in a strength test with Henry winning it until Show kicked him. Show headbutted Henry sevearl times, but it seemed to hurt Show just as much. Henry headbutted him back and Show dropped to a knee. Show prepared to hit a punch on Henry in the corner, with Henry kicking his way out of things. Henry locked a headlock on Show, bringing Show down to one knee again. Henry kept it locked for several moments.

Show finally got out of the hold near the ropes, then cheapshot kicked Henry in the gut. Off the ropes Show was able to spear Henry down to the mat. Henry eventually fought out of Show's attack in the ring corner, then came off the ropes with several splash bump moves to take Show down. Henry with a Splash and pin but Show pushed him off at 2. At one point, the ref warned Henry about something and Show removed the metal turnbuckle. The ref rushed over to tell Show not to do that, and Henry came charging. Show moved aside and tossed Henry face first to the exposed steel. The ref called for the bell and Show delivered a knockout punch to put Henry down.

Winner: Mark Henry wins due to disqualification of The Big Show.

In the locker room Cody Rhodes was lacing his boots up. Ted Dibiase came in and asked if he was ready. Rhodes told Dibiase when his dad was there he got the spotlight so tonight he plans to make an impact. Orton came walking up behind him and asked if he really wants to go through with this. Rhodes said absolutely and Orton reminded him that no matter what happens tonight it's not personal, just business.

Backstage, DX and Rhodes were watching the Hulk Hogan vs Kevin Nash title match from WCW. DX discussed the fall of WCW and how it was losing the Monday Night wars. Rhodes reminded them that WCW was winning it in 1996 and 1998. Eventually, Rhodes brought up HBK's back injury in 98 that put him out of action for like four years. Michaels got fake pissed and started going off then tod HHH and Rhodes to have a good time by themselves, before leaving. HHH turned and asked Rhodes who came up with the dumb idea for Marc Mero to be Johnny B. Badd, and Rhodes said it was his idea.

Carlito vs. Jack Swagger vs. The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston
US Championship Fatal Fourway match

The winner would be the first competitor to score a pinfall or submission. Swagger was out to the ring first, followed by Carlito, Miz and then the Champ.

At one point, Kofi and Miz were one on one in the ring. Miz tried to take control by whipping Kofi to the ropes, but Kofi dropped to the mat. Carlito was back in and Kofi leapfrogged him. Miz was able to toss Carlito over the ropes right outside onto Swagger, then Kingston sent Miz over on top of them in a heap. Kofi ran and jumped over the ropes on top of all three men as they got up. Kofi was riled up in the ring when Raw went to break.

When Raw returned it was Swagger in the ring with Kingston trying to put him in a half Sharpshooter submission. As Swagger worked on Kofi, Miz scouted the action from outside. Eventually, Miz rushed in and kneed Swagger, then hit a neckbreaker for a pin attempt. Kofi with the save. Carlito got back on the apron and Miz knocked him off. Kofi and Miz began to fight it out, until Carlito jumped into the action to kick Miz down.

With all four men in the action, Swagger took control and cleaned house. He went for a Splash on Carlito and hit it, but when he tried it on Miz in the opposite corner, Miz put both knees up. Miz got on one knee to stand, but Kofi rushed over to kick him to the outside. From there, Kofi picked up Carlito, slammed him on Swagger, and then hit the double leg drop on both men. Miz ran in to break up the pin.

In the frantic final action, The Miz tossed Kofi from the ring and ran to do his clothesline on Carlito in the ring. As Miz got out of the corner, Swagger went for a Gutwrench Powerbomb on Carlito, but Carlito flipped over him and fell to the mat. Miz ran over and did the Reality Check to smash Swagger to the mat. Carlito was back up to break up Miz' pin. Carlito with a Backstabber on Miz, but Kofi got back into it and delivered Trouble in Paradise to take out Carlito for a pinfall win.

Winner: the United States Championship.

Cole reminded fans of the Rhodes vs Orton WWE Title match with Cena as guest referee. A Please Do Not Try This at Home ad was shown featuring Cena, Jericho, Orton, Mysterio and other stars talking about their injuries.

Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James
WWE Divas Championship

Cole and Lawler recapped Beth's dominating performance to eliminate half of the competitors in the divas battle royal earlier.

Early on, The Glamazon put Mickie on her shoulder and rammed her into the corner before kicking Mickie out of the ring. Mickie seemed to have hurt her arm, so Beth ran over to further attack the injury, then slammed Mickie down for a pin attempt. Mickie made a comebck to start punching back at Beth although she was favoring her left arm. Mickie used two low dropkicks to take out Beth, then a clothesline to take her down. Mickie was still in pain as Beth tossed her to the corner. Mickie with a headscissors to toss Beth down, then Mickie went to the ropes. Beth was back up and shoved her to the outside, then attacked Mickie throwing her to the barricade. Back in the ring, Beth had a near fall on the injured Mickie. Beth did a running kick into Mickie's gut, then tried to scoop her up to finisher her off. Mickie was able to counter it and turn it into a DDT from the air to knock Beth out.

Winner: Mickie James wins via pinfall over Beth Phoenix to retain the WWE Divas Championship.

Backstage, DX continued hanging out with Dusty Rhodes and discussed the WCW DVD. Triple H said WCW's Greatest Moment ever wasn't represented, "The Shockmaster". All of a sudden a weird voice started saying "HHH" "D-Generation X". Suddenly, an explosion happened and a small flame burst out, then the "Shockmaster" came crashing through a wall wearing a stormtropper helmet. The voice continued and DX saw that it was coming from Arn Anderson who was off camera with a mic. Anderson dropped the mic and said "Sorry Dream", then took off running. DX left the scene, and Rhodes yelled at the guy playing "Shockmaster", it shoulda worked. Shockmaster pulled his Stomrtrooper helmet off to reveal it was Santino Marella.

Josh Matthews interviewed John Cena backstage about being part of the title match and controlling the fate of the title. Cena said he doesn't exactly like Orton, but said tomorrow the story could be "John Cena gives Cody Rhodes the WWE Title". Cena said he can't do that, it will be up to Rhodes to win it on his own. Cena said at Breaking Point, the WWE Champion runs into a friggin brick wall. Cena started yelling that he won't quit in his quest to win the title. Cena guaranteed victory at Breaking Point using a new catchphrase "I will not quit!"

Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
WWE Title Match

Special guest referee John Cena was there to officiate and Dusty Rhodes was in his son's corner. Orton was out to the ring first, and backstage Dusty Rhodes gave his son a pep talk for the match. Cole and Lawler announced next week's guest host will be Bob Barker former host of The Price is Right. Rhodes came to the ring, then special guest ref Cena came out, without wearing a referee shirt.

After Cena finished checking both guys for weapons, Dusty came onto the steps with a mic telling them to hold up. Rhodes said like he mentioned before there's nothing a father wouldn't do for his son, then apologized to Cena. Suddenly, Rhodes and Orton started to 2-on-1 attack Cena. Ted Dibiase rushed down to the ring and hit Dream Street on Cena, allowing all 3 men to start attacking. Orton began to stomp on Cena methodically.

All of a sudden, DX's theme music hit and Michaels came rushing to the ring with HHH. The duo began to attack Legacy. HHH got Rhodes and almost had the Pedigree, but Dusty Rhodes clocked HHH in the head with his boot. Legacy and Orton continued their beatdown on DX. Raw went off the air with Dusty Rhodes, Cody, Dibiase and Orton raising each others hands.

As they continued to stand in the ring, Orton turned to Dusty, looked him in the eye and then viciously hit the RKO right in front of Cody. Orton turned and started at Cody who was clearly furious. Cody backed away to the corner to cool off, as the fans were booing Legacy.

Winner: No contest, match never happened.

Raw Preview 08.31.09

Tonight's Raw will feature a guest host who is a true legend in the ranks of WWE wrestling. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes will officially fill in as the show's guest host, and the Hall of Famer is sure to have some surprises in store. One of the last times Rhodes was seen on Raw or with WWE involved his confrontation and battles with "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton. The feud spilled over to include Cody Rhodes as well. As we all know now, Cody has formed an allegiance with Orton and is part of the second generation superstar team called "Legacy". When Ted Dibiase's father hosted the show he tried to show his son some tough love, and wound up getting slapped in the face. What will The American Dream have in store for Cody, Dibiase, Orton and the rest of WWE Raw's roster?

Also, last week saw D-Generation X emerge victorious in a six-man tag match against Legacy with Orton. Vince McMahon scored the winning birthday pin on Orton, but only after John Cena had rushed to the ramp and beat up Orton. Cena brought him into the ring for an Attitude Adjustment, and the rest was history. Vince, Cena and DX celebrated in the ring, and Randy Orton is sure to be unhappy with the results. What will Orton and Legacy have in store for Cena and DX on tonight's show?

And the United States Championship picture seems to have gained two top contenders. On Raw, The Miz pulled off a victory against Santino Marella, then grabbed a mic to declare his intentions. Miz put Kofi Kingston on notice, letting him know he's be at the front of the line for the US Title. But just days later, another Raw superstar, Jack Swagger, had an impressive win of his own on WWE Superstars against Primo Colon. Post-match, Swagger also got on the mic to declare that he was the two-time All American American, and would be hunting down Kofi Kingston for the US Title. Which of these two contenders will become the #1 Contender for Kofi's championship? Will a match be scheduled on Raw for the title?
