Wrestlemania 25 Smash-Ups Contest

Currently, WWE is running a promotion for members of the WWE Universe to create “Smash-Up” video packages in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Wrestlemania. These videos give fans the chance to create the ultimate in WWE highlight reels using various video clips, images, special effects and music. Fans can edit the various clips from Raw, Smackdown and other WWE shows, as well as add music, special effects, and title cards to them. WWE will then select smash-ups to be awarded prizes, with one lucky winner winning a grand prize of $5,000 for their smash-up!

There's also hundreds of "instant win" prizes just for signing up, including copies of the WWE Legends of Wrestlemania video game. You can head over to WWE Smash-Ups to create your video highlight package. Here's the simple instructions:

2) Select music background track.
3) Select intro and title cards.

Now wrestling fans have the chance to partake in a survey to help shape the future of WWE action figures. What's even cooler, is that one lucky winner will have a WWE action figure made in their likeness. The contest is being held by Ringside Collectibles in conjunction with Jakks Pacific. To enter fans will need to head over to the site and take the survey which will help determine the future of WWE action figures.

According to Ringside's site the survey will take a good 10 to 20 minutes to complete, but it's worth it if you become immortalized in plastic just like Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, John Cena and countless other WWE stars!

WWE News and Notes

Congratulations to Mike Timpson of Los Angeles, who has been named the WWE's biggest fan. Mike is now $25,000 richer, thanks in part to the three Superstar judges, WWE Champion John Cena, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Batista.

"Following his celebration, Timpson discussed his money-making moment. “Doing the video was really a labor of love for a WWE product I have been watching for more than thirty years,” he said. “It was a real pleasure to get the thumbs up from Cena, Batista and Stone Cold. There were so many great videos from the 14 others, and to win was just one of those 'wow' moments.” Timpson continued, “I really want to say thank you to everyone in WWE for everything they do for us fans.”"

Chris Benoit is again making the top news stories, this time with discussion that concussions damaged his brain severely and may have driven him to commit the violent double murder-suicide a few months ago. The latest news involves Benoit's father making test results on Chris Benoit's brain known to the public. Protein deposits shown on the scans indicate his brain is comparable to that of a Alzheimer patient. Reports are saying Benoit suffered from Dementia due to multiple concussions during his wrestling career.

According to ESPN.com:

"Benoit's brain showed the same degenerative processes that doctors working for the institute found in the brains of three men who had played pro football and committed suicide, Cantu said. There were abnormal protein deposits caused by trauma to Benoit's brain, Cantu said."

WWE Characters Updates 08.28.07

First off in good news, Nick Hogan is back home. He was released from the hospital earlier yesterday. His friend is still in critical condition. Read more here.

Raw was pretty decent last night. Having HHH back is a great thing for the brand and WWE in general. His exchange with Vince and Carlito in the ring was hilarious and his entertainment value on WWE really shows. I'm hoping for a Triple Threat match at Summerslam, HHH vs Orton vs Cena. It looks like a Carlito vs HHH feud is brewing though. Notice the difference when Cena wrestled in MA last night? Definite crowd favorite there in his hometown, but you hear the mixed reaction everywhere else. Also, Vince continues to cross paths with Mr. Kennedy. Is that a big hint? Read a recap of Raw here if you missed the show.

Could be a very interesting and exciting matchup on ECW tonight. It's a Fatal Fourway between CM Punk, The Miz, Boogeyman and Big Daddy V. The winner will get a shot at John Morrison's ECW Title. My pick here is CM Punk, I believe he probably will pin The Miz and that Boogeyman and Big Daddy V will end up outside the ring in a brawl. Early poll results on WWE.com have CM Punk voted as the probably winner with 40% of the votes.

Start counting down the days until WWE's Unforgiven. There's a free flash countdown timer here featuring Undertaker, Cena and Triple H.

WWE Biggest Fan TBD

One lucky fan will be crowned as the winner of the special “Are You WWE’s Biggest Fan?" contest this Friday. Ziddio.com was receiving fan videos for several months now. The contest asked wrestling fans to showcase why they are the WWE's Biggest Fan. There were more than 1,000 videos submitted to ziddio.com for the contest with over 785,000 views!

15 Finalists will now assemble in New York City at a red carpet event. Judging the video entries will be John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Batista, Randy Orton and several other superstars. The lucky winner will be crowned the WWE's Biggest Fan and will receive $25,000. No word on if Vince McMahon will be handing the check over or if Irwin R. Scheister (IRS) will be nearby.

The contest finals will be held Friday at Spotlight Live in Times Square, 1604 Broadway at 49th Street in New York City, beginning at 5 p.m.

WWE Summerslam Promotions & Contest

According to WWE.com, Summerslam will be heavily promoted over the coming weeks, including a special contest with a great prize for a lucky fan:

WWE Superstars, Divas and Legends will be on the road all summer long and nationwide – generating buzz for the WWE brand and for SummerSlam. WWE’s efforts will include Superstar appearances, sponsorship integration, concert tie-ins, sweepstakes and special merchandise sales.

The excitement begins as WWE Superstars join radio personalities Opie and Anthony for various stops on their “Opie And Anthony Traveling Virus Comedy Tour.” The tour will feature some of the most popular comedians in the country, including Jim Norton and Louis C.K. WWE Superstars will be on hand at the events to sign autographs and introduce the event onstage. WWE will also be represented at two of the summer’s hottest annual summer music tours, as Superstars will appear at The Warped Tour and Ozzfest.

The party continues at various Six Flags theme park locations in some of the country’s largest media markets, including: Boston, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago, where WWE Superstars, Divas and Legends will visit and meet with fans.

Michelle McCool Story

The Palatka Daily news website has a nice write up on Michelle McCool and how her talent has brought her a long way in the WWE. The article discusses Michelle's use of WWE promos and gimmick which aretrue to her life; that of being an "all-American girl" or the school-teacher. It also discusses the unique wrestling moves Michelle has been using in her matches.

"A Hancock Trophy winner who was all-county in volleyball, softball and basketball at PHS, McCool also has a background in gymnastics. By far the most accomplished athlete in the Diva “class of 2004” (and probably subsequent classes), McCool is, in cooperation with WWE image makers, trying to parlay her skills into a move up the women’s wrestling ranks.

“It’s basically just Michelle McCool, All-American girl living life — shots and vignettes where I’m playing volleyball on the beach, football on the beach,” she said last week. “An athletic, All-American girl people can aspire to. It’s really just me being me. It’s nice.”

She’s trying moves seldom seen during a women’s match.

There’s a spinning backbreaker in which McCool drops to one knee while bringing her opponent down on the other knee. There’s a suplex that calls for her to stand straight up, bring her arm around the opponent’s waist and bring her down.

McCool was in Biloxi Sunday night when she defeated Victoria with what a Wrestling Observer Web site correspondent described as a “cool triangle choke variation.”

“I’m glad somebody’s noticed because I’m trying to incorporate moves other women don’t try,” she said. “It seems in the past the women’s arsenal has been clotheslines and arm-pulls and hair-pulls.”"
