The Rise & Fall of DX

Many fans have posed the recent question; What do you think will happen to Shawn Michaels and the state of DX? In my humble opinion DX may come to an end, for a short time at least...

It's an unfortunate injury that HHH has suffered during New Year's Revolution. He will be out for a good 4-6 months, which is definitely leaving him out of two major upcoming competitions; the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania. Many people may have speculated that HHH would face John Cena for the WWE title at Wrestlemania 23. Now it appears they are searching for new opponents for Cena. For example, The Great Khali appeared on this past Monday's Raw. Would this have happened if HHH hadn't become injured? It's hard to say. The WWE changes plans at the drop of a dime, when it has to. That said, its most likely there will be a few things going down:

1-DX is obviously going to be over for now, unless WWE plans to have HHH just making brief non-wrestling appearances for it, or they replace him with a surprise newcomer. Most likely, RKO will end Shawn Michaels' DX time for a while. They have a 2 on 1 handicap match vs HBK next week on RAW, unfortunate for Michaels. It would be cool to see him pull something out, it's even possible they assign him a new "partner" as part of DX while HHH is away. It can keep DX going in that case and give HHH a heel role when he returns, etc. Who knows, maybe Xpac or Chyna's available ;)

2-Crime Tyme will most likely win the tag team titles sometime this year. Maybe Royal Rumble, maybe Wrestlemania. It's unlikely that Orton or Edge will compete in both a tag title match and the Rumble..but possible. With that said we shouldn't put odds on RKO to win the Rumble or a title shot anytime soon. However, if Shawn Michaels isn't knocked off RAW or WWE for a bit, maybe he wins the title shot at the Rumble..This also sets up a possible feud if HHH comes back, where they compete for the title.

3-HHH will probably return with a major comeback towards the end of year. Maybe Summerslam? There's no reason to believe the Game won't be back with Shawn Michaels to pick up where they left off and extract revenge on Orton and Edge, other than the previously mentioned possibilities (Michaels gets a new DX partner or a WWE title shot, etc).

All that said let's wish a speedy and successful recovery to Triple H, a definite fan favorite and top notch wrestler who brings so much to RAW, WWE and pro wrestling in general.
