ECW Recap 05.13.08

ECW Recap from Grand Rapids, MI:

ECW opened with highlights of last week's contract opportunity match between ECW General Manager Armando Estrada and unsigned superstar Colin Delaney. After Estrada manhandled Delaney around the ring a bit, Colin made a huge comeback to roll up Estrada for a pin. Colin Delaney is now officially a member of WWE and the ECW roster. As the show began, Armando Estrada was shown remarking just how lucky Colin was to win last week. Estrada told Colin he'll make sure he's an even bigger target now and handed him his official contract to sign. Estrada told Delaney congratulations and for his first official match he can fight a man who's already beat the hell out of him, Mike Knox.

CM Punk vs. The Miz

Mr. Money in the Bank took on one half of the WWE tag team champs. Miz was accompanied to the ramp by his partner, John Morrison but Miz waved him off and Morrison went backstage.

The two WWE Superstars went back and forth in this match, both gaining momentum and the advantage. Miz was able to knee Punk in the corner at one point then keep him down using a Camel Clutch submission. Punk came back after escaping several Miz pin attempts, and was able to powerslam Miz off the ropes. Punk began to take charge as he ran and kneed Miz in the corner. Miz escaped a bulldog, but Punk still caught him with a spin kick. Punk tried to put Miz into a Pedigree type move, but Miz dropped Punk and went to pin him. Punk showed his strength by standing up with Miz on him to prevent the pin. Punk kept his arms locked with Miz' arms.

Miz escaped Punk's attempt to lock him up for a slide pinfall, kicked Punk to stun him, then went off the ropes. As Miz tried to knee Punk in the head, CM avoided it then grabbed Miz as he came back from the ropes. Punk hoisted Miz up for the GTS. Miz was able to slip out of it and drop to his feet then caught Punk with a surprise Reality Check. Miz covered Punk and scored the 3 count for a clean win. As Miz went up the ramp, Morrison came out to congratulate him as Punk layed in the ring holding his neck. Mike Adamle remarked that later tonight Miz' partner John Morrison faces the Big Red Machine.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over CM Punk.

WWE Divas Michelle McCool, Cherry & Kelly Kelly shown backstage walking on their way to the next match.

Kelly Kelly, Cherry & Michelle McCool vs. Victoria, Natalya & Layla

A six diva tag match was the second matchup on ECW's card. Natalya started off viciously attacking Michelle and ramming her to the corner. After beating her up a bit, Victoria tagged in to continue the assault. Michelle McCool was able to fight back and flip from off the ropes to throw Victoria down. Cherry tagged in next and started to beat up Victoria some. Victoria made a blind tag to Natalya against the ropes. As Victoria slid out of the ring, Cherry was distracted enough for Natalya to knock her down.

Natalya held Cherry down on the mat in a headlock, until Cherry stood then rolled forward to throw Natalya. The heels continued to double and triple team Cherry with vicious moves. Victoria tagged in and flipped over the ropes to legdrop onto Cherry, but couldn't capture a 3 count. In the center of the ring, Victoria went to do a backflip splash onto Cherry. As she flipped, Cherry stuck her knees up. Despite the comeback, Victoria prevented Cherry from making a tag by hammering her down to the mat.

After knocking Cherry down, Victoria went over and hit Kelly Kelly off the apron. Victoria swung at Michelle who ducked and dropped down on the apron. WWE Diva Cherry took advantage by grabbing Victoria's legs and rolling her up for a quick pinfall victory.

Winner: Kelly Kelly, Michelle and Cherry win via pinfall over Layla, Victoria and Natalya.

Backstage, Lena Yada interviewed Shelton Benjamin about losing twice to Kofi Kingston. Shelton said Kof is the luckiest man alive, but next time they meet he will stop Kofi's winning streak. Kofi came up to Shelton and said he wanted to wish him good luck with that. Shelton told Kofi to get out of his interview time, then the two got into it. Kofi was able to ram Shelton into a metal door leaving Shelton down on the pavement.

When ECW returned, Adamle asked Tazz what he thought of last night's main event WWE Wrestling match on Raw between Orton and Cena. Highlights were shown of the buildup to the match between Orton and Triple H set for Judgment Day. Included were Orton's sneak attack RKO on Triple H a week ago after the lights went out on HHH. Also included were highlights of HHH and Orton inside the steel cage at the end of last night's WWE Raw show, with HHH gaining momentum to toss Orton out of the cage.

Colin Delaney was shown backstage taping himself up in preparation for his match with Mike Knox. Highlights were shown of the weeks of punishment that Colin took at the hands of various wrestlers like Big Daddy V, Kane and Big Show. Finally, last week Delaney pulled off a huge win over ECW GM Armando Estrada to earn himself an ECW contract.

Colin Delaney vs. Mike Knox

Colin arrived to the ring now complete with his own entrance theme music. Delaney started off trying for a quick dropkick to knock Knox away. Knox recovered fast and dropped Colin to the mat, then began to beat him up. Knox splashed Colin in the corner with a huge clothesline then hammered away at him. Knox grabbed Colin for his finisher soon after and slammed him to the mat for a very quick pinfall.

Winner: Mike Knox wins via pinfall over Colin Delaney.

After Knox won against Colin, ECW GM Armando Estrada came walking down the ramp with a mic in hand. Estrada congratulated Knox as he was walking up the ramp. Armando then entered the ring and informed Colin he will now have a match against the newest member of ECW's roster, Armando Estrada. Estrada told Colin he just signed himself to an ECW contract with two more zero's than Colin's has.

Armando took advantage of Colin who was already layed out on the mat. Estrada slapped him several times in the face before picking him up for a reverse suplex type move, then slamming him to the mat for a pin. Colin is now 0-2 since receiving his ECW contract.

WWE Superstar Kane was shown standing menacingly backstage awaiting his match with John Morrison, next.

John Morrison vs. Kane

Morrison was accompanied to the ring by tag team partner, the Miz. Kane started things off and dominated Morrison early, using several moves including a choke with his knee on Morrison against the ropes, and then a headlock down on the mat. Morrison was able to stand up and fight his way out, forcing Kane to the corner.

Morrison seemed to be in control as he kicked away at Kane in the corner. Kane fought back and knocked Morrison down to the ropes then to the mat. Miz tried to distract Kane from the outside and CM Punk came down to the ring to chase him away. Miz and Punk went over to root on their respective partners as ECW went to a commercial break. ECW returned as Kane continued to dominate with a suplex then neckbreaker and then a headlock down on the mat.

Morrison made a comeback and kicked away at Kane's hurt leg to drop him to the mat. Morrison continued working over the hurt leg of the ECW champ down on the mat. Morrison continued his aggressive attack as he hammered away at Kane around the ring and attacked the leg. Kane finally managed to deliver a boot to Morrison's head from down on the mat. Kane got up and began his own attack, clotheslining Morrison in the corner a few times, then going for a sideslam. Kane landed a clothesline off the ropes then went for the Chokeslam. Miz jumped onto the side apron to distract. As Punk went to take care of Miz, Morrison took advantage of the ref being distracted. Morrison grabbed his WWE title belt and clocked Kane over the head. As the ref turned back, Morrison did a spin kick from off the ropes, then took the pin.

Miz came into the ring after throwing Punk to the steps. The tag champs started to attack Kane, but Punk soon got back into the ring. Miz was able to take out Punk using a quick neckbreaker from off the ropes. Miz and Morrison pummeled Kane and left both he and Punk laying in the ring. The tag champs posed on the ramp with their titles as ECW ended.

Winner: John Morrison wins via pinfall over Kane.
