Raw Preview 02.16.09

With the conclusion of last night's 2009 No Way Out Pay-Per-View, the grueling Elimination Chambers for Raw and Smackdown each determined a brand new champion. Early in the night, Smackdown saw its WWE Title change hands as Edge was eliminated early, and Triple H was able to defeat the Undertaker to take the belt for his 13th title reign. Due to the loss, Edge found an opportunity later on as he attacked Kofi Kingston on his way to the Chamber. With Kofi out of action, Edge entered himself in the match, locking himself in a pod. The Rated-R Superstar capitalized on his opportunity as John Cena the current World Heavyweight Champ was eliminated from contention. As the battle worn on, others were eliminated leaving Rey Mysterio to battle Edge. Edge took control in the end as he sent Mysterio into the glass cage, then nailed him with a Spear. Edge has now reclaimed his title he lost to CM Punk on Raw, seemingly bringing the belt back to Smackdown. What will John Cena, Stephanie McMahon and others have to say regarding Raw losing its major championship?

Two other Raw matches were on the card at last night's Pay-Per-View both with serious consequences. In the first match of the night, Shane McMahon looked to avenge his father's injury from Randy Orton. The two battled in a No Holds Barred match which saw Kendo Stick shots, a Coast to Coast trash can kicked into Cody Rhodes, and Shane crashing through a commentators' table with his elbow drop. Orton was eventually able to seize the match as he grabbed a charging Shane and nailed him with the vicious RKO. Both men were seriously battered and bruised as the match concluded, but neither appeared headed to the hospital. Shane outlived Orton's Punt Kick yet again, while Orton limped backstage as the winner. Will either of these competitors show up on Raw following this vicious contest? What will Orton's next move be now that he has defeated another McMahon?

In another serious match, Shawn Michaels fought his power broker employer, John Bradshaw Layfield in the "All or Nothing Match". In a match where Michaels had everything to win or lose, both men delivered serious moves to each other with Shawn's wife Rebecca watching from the outside. Rebecca ended up being the wild card though as she decked JBL who continually taunted her outside the ring with her husband's beat up face. The shot by his wife gave HBK the necessary energy-burst to take it to JBL in the ring, landing an elbow drop off the corner, and then his patented "Sweet Chin Music" for the win. With the win, Michaels supposedly claims all the money owed to him by JBL and has saved himself from being JBL's corporate property, forever. Will JBL make good on the deal, or will he try to back out of what he originally promised Shawn Michaels?
