Christian Crosses Line to ECW

As good ol' JR would say, "Business just picked up!" on ECW. Last night saw the much anticipated arrival back to WWE for Christian (dropped the Cage). As many fans know Christian was a multi-time tag champ in WWE as well as Intercontinental and European champ. Under the name Christian Cage, he had been a star on the TNA brand of wrestling for several years now, achieving its top title and tangling with the best that brand had to offer. He was last seen there when the major heel stable the Main Event Mafia "eliminated" Christian from the show to solidify their presence.

But enough about the other brand, it's great to see Christian back with the WWE. Christian of course returned as his cocky self ready to confront ECW's very cocky champion Jack Swagger. Christian immediately tossed his name into the contenders for ECW championship, letting Swagger know that whoever wins at No Way Out, Christian will face for the belt. On the very same show, ECW's General Manager Teddy Long ordered the two to compete in a match. Christian came out on top thanks to some interference from Finlay and Hornswoggle, but Christian definitely looked great in the ring again. His involvement with ECW definitely can fill the void left by Matt Hardy, providing a new foe for Swagger and a bigger, badder ECW title match for Wrestlemania 25.

The question will be if Christian will be able to play a babyface effectively on ECW, as in the past he's mostly been considered the heel. He used to host the arrogant Peep Show, talked about how admired he was by all his peeps, was a longtime sidekick for Edge, and generally caused a stir on Raw. At one point he was protesting Stone Cold Steve Austin along with Chris Jericho. Now he attempts to bring his cocky attitude and impressive wrestling skills to do battle with ECW's best and searches for his first ECW title reign. Expect Christian to grab the title at Wrestlemania 25 and become the new face of ECW for 2009 making for a nice welcome back to WWE.

Overall the ECW show has definitely made large strides in improvement now with Christian, the arrival last night of Tyson Kidd, and the soon to be returning Evan Bourne. Paul Burchill, DJ Gabriel and Ricky Ortiz round out the roster which also has at least 4 beautiful and talented divas ready to shine as well.
