Raw Preview 04.13.09
Tonight's special edition of Raw airs live from Atlanta, Georgia, and will hold the WWE's 2009 Draft (2009 WWE Draft preview). As WWE commentators have mentioned on ECW, Raw and Smackdown, the entire landscape of the various rosters could change with tonight's draft. Last year saw some big names make major moves such as Batista and Rey Mysterio moving to Raw and Triple H being drafted to Smackdown. Matt Hardy moved to ECW where he went on to become the ECW champion. Will any more current champions be drafted away from their current rosters? Tonight's 2009 WWE Draft is sure to shake things up, but who will be drafted where?
Last week, the WWE Universe also learned that WWE Raw now has an official General Manager, Vickie Guerrero. Vickie informed everyone that the WWE Board of Directors gave her the choice of Smackdown or Raw for the GM position. Vickie ultimately decided on Raw because she felt it needed a "breath of fresh air". In the same night as she made her announcement, she also made several more huge announcements impacting the Backlash Pay-Per-View. First off, Vickie announced that the six man tag match between Orton, Rhodes & Dibiase versus Vince McMahon, Triple H and Shane would have a championship stipulation. If Triple H's team wins the match, then Triple H retains the WWE championship. However if anyone on Randy Orton's team wins the match, then Randy Orton will become the new WWE champion. Vickie also made the announcement that her husband Edge would have a rematch at Backlash for the World Heavyweight Title against current champ John Cena. Vickie added a stipulation to this match as well, making it a "Last Man Standing Match". What will Raw's new General Manager have in store next for the WWE superstars, and will she continue the same power trip she had on Smackdown?
And in the biggest surprise of last week, fans witnessed the exciting return of The Animal, Batista. During a singles match between Chairman Vince McMahon and Randy Orton, Shane McMahon rushed to the ring to prevent Orton from delivering a punt kick to Mr. McMahon's head. From there, Legacy got involved as did Triple H. With Vince McMahon unable to fight, it became a 3 on 2 beatdown by Legacy on Shane & Triple H. To the amazement of the fans and everyone in the ring, Batista's music came on and The Animal charged to the ring ready to go. Batista quickly chased off Orton, unable to get his hands on him, but he was able to deliver the trademark Batista Bomb on Cody Rhodes as a future hint at what may be in store for the Legend Killer. Promptly after the melee, Vince McMahon got on the mic to announce that Batista would be replacing him in the Six man tag match at Backlash. Orton seemed seriously upset at the adding of The Animal to the championship matchup. What will Legacy's next move be against the McMahon's, Triple H and/or Batista?
