Raw Preview 05/02/11

Tonight's episode of Raw in Miami will follow the WWE Extreme Rules 2011 results from Tampa, Florida. Last night's PPV event saw three new champions crowned, including John Cena. Cena managed to win the Triple Threat steel cage match, but only after interference from R-Truth cost John Morrison the potential win. Still, Cena was able to win the match after hitting Attitude Adjustment on The Miz from the corner of the cage. After a pinfall, John Cena can finally say "the champ is here" on Monday Night Raw. What will Cena have to say in the city of Miami?

Also winning a championship was Raw's recent acquisition, Kofi Kingston. Kofi was booked in a US Championship ladder match against US Champion Sheamus. It was an all-out brawl with Kofi able to crash through Sheamus using a leg drop on a table outside the ring. Now Kofi brings the US Championship back to Raw. Who will be first in line from the Raw roster to challenge Kingston?

Keep in mind that tonight's show is supposed to be the biggest birthday bash in the history of Raw. Since the show will be in Miami, it's only fitting that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be celebrated for his big birthday bash. John Cena and The Rock have an epic match scheduled for the same city on April 1, 2012 at Wrestlemania 28. Will an appearance by The Rock happen on tonight's show?

2011 WWE Draft Review

On Tuesday, the WWE Supplemental Draft 2011 results were made official via WWE's website. Among the big names moved were Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Jack Swagger, Great Khali and in a shocking move, Alex Riley.

Tuesday's WWE draft results were for another 22 draft picks in addition to Monday night's 8 selections on Raw. Two of those selections were John Cena merely moving to Smackdown for the night and then back to Raw. While Big Show and Rey Mysterio joined Monday Night Raw, it's been there, done that, for both of these superstars, who seem to change shows during each year's draft. Then again, these guys appear on whichever show they want, especially when there's a Pay-Per-View to promote.

Tuesday's supplemental picks seem like they hold more potential for certain wrestlers to get major pushes, or they could set up further events. For example, moving Alex Riley to Smackdown seems to indicate he'll finally break free from being in The Miz's shadow. It's possible Riley gets a new gimmick or perhaps even Miz will somehow move over to Smackdown with him after Extreme Rules. Many people forget that Riley was the runner up to Kaval during NXT Season 2. Kaval was released by WWE, but Riley is still considered of value to the company.

Former World Champion Jack Swagger moves to Monday Night Raw. That just so happens to be where his Extreme Rules tag team partner, Michael Cole, generally resides. Swagger teams up with Cole in a "Country Whipping Tag Match" on Sunday, against Raw commentators Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. Could the match outcome set up some further events on Raw involving these individuals? Will Swagger become part of a title picture?

Meanwhile Sheamus has moved shows. Sheamus is the current US Champion. This means that both the United States Championship and Intercontinental Championship, held by Wade Barrett, will reside on the same program. That is unless a match changes that in the coming weeks. It's rare that WWE has two of a similar title on the same show for very long. Quite possibly they are considering combining the titles into one championship belt.

Other moves saw Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre both move to Raw. Chris Masters will return to Raw. Daniel Bryan moved to Smackdown along with Great Khali. WWE divas Natalya and Tamina went to Smackdown, while Kelly Kelly will be a part of Raw.

A few guys who may get a push out of this seem to be the aforementioned Alex Riley as well as two guys who are coming to Raw. Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks both seem like they have the potential for being in a title picture. Reks is obviously the more likely of the two.

It's going to be interesting in the coming weeks and months to see what sorts of new feuds and grudges will be born out of these new roster moves. Which WWE Superstar do you think will make the biggest impact after the 2011 WWE Draft?

2011 WWE Suplemental Draft Results

After Monday Night Raw's 2011 WWE Draft, several superstars were moved from Raw to Smackdown, and Smackdown to Raw. The big names included Randy Orton, Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio and Sin Cara. All of these superstars changed rosters on Monday night. John Cena switched over to Smackdown, but later on was drafted back to Raw.

There's definitely been some big names moving rosters during the 2011 WWE Supplemental Draft results. Seven of these superstars have held championship gold during their careers, with Swagger and Khali each holding the World Heavyweight Championship at some point.

Raw Results 04/25/11 - WWE Draft 2011

WWE Raw Draft 2011 results:

The show immediately opened with a huge 20-man battle royal going on in the ring between Raw and Smackdown. Whichever side wins gets the first draft pick tonight.

20-Man Raw vs Smackdown Battle Royal

Kane was shoved out early by a bunch of Raw wrestlers teaming up. Big Show and Great Khali locked up in the corner. Wade Barrett gave a boot to Sheamus' throat in the corner.

Many of the big men were eliminated, including Ezekiel Jackson, Vlad Kozlov, and then Mark Henry went out with Brodus Clay. Big Show continued to surive. Drew McIntyre kneed Sheamus off the apron before a commercial break. After break, Bourne eliminated McIntyre. Later Santino tried to hit the Cobra on Show from the apron, but Show grabbed his hand and punched Santino instead.

It came down to a final of Big Show and Kofi for Smackdown with Evan Bourne and Ryan Mason for Raw. Kofi and Bourne had some innovative exchanges. Big Show cornered Bourne and Ryan, then tossed Bourne out. Kofi and Show worked over Ryan. Kofi hit Ryan with a pendulum kick, then show shoved him over the rope to win it for Smackdown.

Winner: Team Smackdown wins the 20-Man Battle Royal to earn the #1 draft pick.

The #1 draft pick for Smackdown was Jhn Cena in surprising fashion. Cole screamed for someone to fix that computer. Cena arrived out to the ramp and someone tossed him a Smackdown blue t-shirt which he put on for the crowd. Cole said Cena's been an institution on Raw for 6 years.

Todd Grisham the newest Smackdown acquisition, John Cena, backstage. Cena called it the biggest move in WWE history. Cena said "life changes, you gotta change with it." Cena said the biggest change comes Sunday at Extreme Rules when he will walk out as WWE Champion.

The Miz walked in laughing with the championship belt to interrupt him. Miz said when it comes to Raw, Cena's right because he can't see him.

Matthews and Lawler began talking about the possibilities with Cena as WWE Champ. Cole interrupted to say the main event will feature him against Jim Ross.

Matthews brought up the situation with R-Truth last week as he snapped and took out his aggression on John Morrison post-match. They showed highlights of the incidents that went down.

Justin Roberts introduced R-Truth to the crowd. He came out to no theme music, then called for Raleigh, North Carolina to "Shut Up!" He chastised the crowd for being all about "you." The crowd started up the "What?!" response on everything Truth said. Truth said they were pissing him off.

Truth said Morrison challenged him last week because the fans wanted it. Truth said he lost because of all of them. Truth got censored again saying he was "pissed off." He started making fun of young fans like "Little Jimmy" who sing along to "What's Up?"

Truth finally said he was done doing things for them after 10 years now with nothing to show for it. He said singing and dancing for the fans wasn't bringing him any WWE belts around his waist. He said finally "The Truth has set me free."

Just then, John Morrison arrived out from backstage and smashed Truth down from behind. Morrison kept pounding away on him with several refs coming out to intervene. JMo pretended he was calmed down, then broke free of 2 refs and ran back to tackle Truth down again.

Next Monday will be the biggest birthday party in the history of television featuring Raw from Miami with The Rock.

A new promo for the former TNA Knockout, Awesome Kong, was shown. This one had her clutching a blonde doll in her hands then snapping its head off before laughing maniacally. Kong's face was shown fully in this one, and then a purple "Kharma" logo showed on the screen.

Eve Torres vs. Layla

In a Raw versus Smackdown diva battle, Layla arrived out from backstage without Michelle. McCool finally arrived out far behind and came to ringside looking at Layla oddly. They showed highlights from their Smackdown therapy segment where Michelle slammed Layla onto the couch.

Michael Cole got up and asked for everyone's attention, to start talking about how he's a real athlete. Meanwhile, Layla looked out through the ropes and got slapped by Michelle. Eve rolled her up for the quick win.

Cole said he had to go for a pre-match stretching routine. Michael Cole said he'll be humiliating JR later on. Cole said "Mr Wrestlemania has left ringside."

Outside the ring, Layla had enough as she threw McCool into the crowd barrier multiple times, then slammed her face-first into the ring apron. Layla started to cry and said she was sick of this. Michelle put her arm out, but Layla grabbed her and tossed her across the commentators table onto Lawler. Layla kept crying about it, as Michelle got up.

Winner: Eve Torres defeats Layla by pinfall to get Raw the #2 draft pick.

The #2 draft pick for Raw was Rey Mysterio. They showed WWE Raw superstars applauding backstage. Mysterio came out on stage to celebrate the news. Rey set off his pyro on opposite sides of the stage. They showed backstage with Cena in a Smackdown shirt sitting with the rest of the roster. Rey got a red Raw shirt and put it on.

They showed JR in a Sooners football jersey warming up backstage. Lawler chuckled and said "JR don't hurt yourself!"

Matthews said fans can draft their own dream rosters at WWE.com.

Todd Grisham talked to Cody Rhodes backstage, asking his reaction to Rey Mysterio being drafted away from Smackdown. Rhodes said he'll give him a going away present at Extreme Rules, a new mask. Rhodes talked about sending Rey to the hospital then said "Booyaka, Booyaka, Bye, Bye, Bye."

Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus

Sheamus took the early control beating away on Kofi for a near fall early on. Later, Sheamus missed on a charge in the corner to hit shoulder first into the post. Kofi climbed the top rope and landed a crossbody for a near fall. Kofi jumped up on Sheamus on the corner, but then got leveled as Sheamus blasted him.

Kofi hit a pair of Trouble in Paradise kicks after Sheamus missed on the Brogue Kick. Kofi with the pinfall win to bring Smackdown the #3 pick.

Winner: Kofi Kingston wins via pinfall over Sheamus to get Smackdown the #3 draft pick.

With the #3 pick, Smackdown acquired Randy Orton. They showed the backstage locker room going crazy, particularly the Smackdown side. Orton walked out onto the ramp to pose for the crowd smiling. He failed to catch the blue Smackdown t-shirt, then picked it up to show the crowd.

Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole

Lawler served as a cornerman for JR, while Swagger was there for Cole. Cole wore full college wrestling great, including orange headgear and tights.

Cole mocked and taunted JR to start things off, making himself look fat to make jokes. Cole went over to talk to Swagger. Cole started to stretch near the ropes, wasting time early. Cole danced around the ring as JR took swings at him. Cole left and put on JR's cowboy hat to further mock him. In the ring, he dropped the hat on the mat then stomped on it.

Finally, Ross grabbed Cole by the straps of his wrestling top and shoved him to the corner. Swagger put a stool and bucket in to get in and refresh Cole like it was a boxing match. JR finally pounced on top of Cole and began to punch his head. Cole tried to escape the ring, but Lawler was there to throw him right back in. JR continued his attack, but Swagger rushed Lawler and knocked him down ringside.

Swagger got in the ring and began to kick around JR on the mat. The ref called for the bell as a DQ. Cole had a bloody mouth and had Swagger pull of Ross' belt, then put the Ankle Lock on. Cole whipped JR with the belt multiple times.

Finally, Lawler got back in to intervene, fighting off Cole and clotheslining Swagger out of the ring. Lawler grabbed the belt and started to whip Cole with it. Cole and Swagger finally escaped up the ramp.

The anonymous Raw GM sent an email announcing that Sunday's tag match will be a "country whipping match."

Winner: Jim Ross wins due to DQ of Michael Cole when Jack Swagger interfered.

Backstage, Scott Stanford interviewed The Miz. Riley was there and took away the mic, to dust it off for Miz to talk into. Miz talked about how next week Raw is all about everyone celebrating The Rock's birthday. Miz said next week there will be something bigger to celebrate though. Miz said at Extreme Rules on Sunday he will find a way to win. He said if he doesn't then Raw will be canceled within one month after that.

They showed highlights of Orton's big win against CM Punk last week in the main event. The New Nexus attacked Orton post-match and were able to overwhelm him. Mason Ryan prepared for the punt kick from the corner. Punk wanted to do the running punt kick on Orton, but as he went for it, Orton hit the RKO on him to escape.

Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler

Orton was now representing Smackdown. Matthews said this match would be for two draft picks.

During the match, Ziggler gained the advantage and knocked Orton into the crowd. Orton barely rushed back to slide in the ring ahead of the 10 count. He exploded with rage, slamming Ziggler around, then hitting the patented backbreaker. Orton got revved up and started to pound the mat, ready for an RKO. Vickie tried for a late distraction, but Orton avoided Ziggler's move, then hit a quick RKO to end it.

Winner: Randy Orton defeats Dolph Ziggler via pinfall to get the #4 and #5 draft picks for Smackdown.

They started to scroll through the wrestlers for the #4 pick for Smackdown, but CM Punk came out to interrupt it, saying it could wait. Punk said there's no "rules" for their Extreme Rules on Sunday, except they have to answer the ref's 10 count. Punk said he's going to beat Orton senseless so he'll have nobody to blame but himself.

Orton said he'll miss many things from Raw, except for having to hear Punk ramble on and on. He said after Sunday, Punk won't be talking or walking, eating, drinking or moving. Orton said Punk will be sleeping unconscious after the PPV match.

After their promo talk ended, Lawler said they'll find out who Smackdown's two draft picks are next!

Raw returned with Booker T and Josh Matthews happily discussing the #4 and #5 picks as Lawler shook his head about it. Mark Henry was #4 and Sin Cara was #5 pick.

Rey Mysterio vs. Wade Barrett

This Raw versus Smackdown match was also worth two draft picks. Barrett took control early on in a match that Booker T called a "must win for Raw." Booker said the whole landscape has already shifted. Rey made a comeback with a crossbody for a near fall. Later, Barrett managed to catch Rey on his shoulder then drove him to the corner of the ring.

Rey got up on the corner though and managed to jump off to flip Barrett by a headscissors into the ropes. He hit the 619, then connected on a big headbutt off the corner for the win. Raw gets 2 dract picks with the win by Mysterio.

Winner: Rey Mysterio wins via pinfall over Wade Barrett to get Raw the #6 and #7 draft picks.

Raw acquired The Big Show with the #6 draft pick. Show arrived out on the ramp to celebrate the news. Someone tossed a huge red Raw shirt to Show which he put on to pose for the crowd.

At the #7 draft pick, Raw acquired Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio was backstage wit ha Smackdown shirt in hand, but wouldn't go out to the ramp. He yelled some stuff at Ricardo Rodriguez. Brodus Clay yelled "Sir, sir, what about me?" but Del Rio shrugged him off and kept saying stuff in Spanish to Ricardo.

Rev Theory's "Justice" is the Extreme Rules 2011 Pay-Per-View theme song. They showed the NC State University arena from the outside.

Matthews, Booker and Lawler were shown on camera, but interrupted by Cole. Cole had a fat lip and said JR was backstage sweating BBQ sauce out of his pores.

Matthews introduced the Extreme Rules PPV card, saying tonight's draft won't affect the matches. Orton faces Punk in a Last Man Standing Match. JR and Lawler take on Cole and Swagger in the tag team country whipping match. It's Christian vs Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship in a ladder match. John Cena, John Morrison and The Miz fight in a Triple Threat steel cage match for the WWE Championship.

Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long arrived out to the stage with a mic in hand. Long said the main event will be a six man tag team match for the final WWE draft pick of the night. Team Raw's CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio and The Miz will compete versus Team Smackdown's Christian, Mark Henry and John Cena.

Alex Riley accompanied The Miz out to the ring before a commercial break.

Mark Henry, Christian & John Cena vs. CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio & The Miz

After a break, Punk was introduced, then Ricardo Rodriguez intro'd Del Rio. Del Rio drove out in a fancy convertible for the match. Next out were the Smackdown faces: Christian, then Henry, and finally John Cena. Matthews noted this is the final time for Cena on Raw.

Mark Henry clobbered Punk in the corner with a huge clothesline out of break. Henry continued to punish Punk, standing on him near the ropes. Punk tried to clutch the bottom rope, but Henry brought him over for a tag out to Christian. Lawler and Cole brought up the idea that both titles could be on either Raw or Smackdown after Extreme Rules.

Del Rio tagged in to take it to Christian for a near fall. He pounded away on Christian. Del Rio hit a huge kick to Christian's shoulder in the corner, then tagged in Miz for more punishment. Christian powered to his feet from Miz's submission hold, but then Miz yanked him back to the mat to tag in Punk.

Later on, Miz hit his running clothesline on Christian in the corner. Late in the match, Christian and Del Rio collided, both hitting the mat. Christian made a hot tag to Cena, while The Miz also tagged in. Cena had major momentum, and set up for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. However, out of nowhere, Mark Henry came in and bulldozed Cena down to the mat, then left the ring.

Outside the ring, Henry started to walk off, and Christian confronted him. Henry grabbed Christian, pressed him overhead, then threw him onto the steel steps. With Cena left alone in the ring, Miz grabbed him for Skullcrushing Finale to get the pinfall win.

Winners: Team Raw wins via pinfall over Team Smackdown to get the #8 draft pick.

With the #8 draft pick, Raw acquired John Cena right back from Smackdown. The crowd went wild as Cena got up and clotheslined down Del Rio, Riley and Miz. Cena hit Five Knuckle Shuffle on Miz, and eventually picked up Miz to throw him out of the ring onto Del Rio, Ricardo Rodriguez and Riley.

Cena celebrated with the fans as Raw went off the air.

The WWE draft continues tomorrow at 12 Noon EST on WWE.com.

Raw Preview 04/25/11

Tonight's episode of Raw arrives less than a week ahead of the big Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View. Several of the superstars on the Raw roster will be preparing for big matches, including John Cena, John Morrison and The Miz! These three will be getting into a steel cage match at Extreme Rules for the WWE Championship. However, after last week's beating that Morrison suffered from R-Truth, his condition may be questionable. What will be next for Morrison and Truth on tonight's show?

Not only is the show ahead of Extreme Rules, but tonight will be the 2011 WWE Draft. On tonight's episode, superstars will be drafted from Raw to Smackdown and vice versa. In last year's draft, The Miz was brought to the Raw roster and became the WWE Champion. Which superstars and divas will go where in tonight's WWE draft?

Last week's show saw Michael Cole continue to humiliate Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. After Cole was officially knighted in the ring in the UK, he began to insult and taunt Lawler and Ross. The two commentators got into the ring at Cole's request, but Jack Swagger was waiting. Swagger took out Lawler and then helped to force Jim Ross to kiss Cole's disgusting bare foot. Will Ross and Lawler get some sort of revenge tonight, or will it have to wait until Sunday's tag match?

Will WWE Draft hurt Smackdown ticket sales?

Earlier this week, I posted a commentary about Monday night's 2010 WWE Draft. Another fan commented that it appears WWE may be looking to stack their Raw lineup against that of TNA on Monday nights, which is a valid point. However, if that is the case, WWE will likely hurt its Friday night Smackdown ticket sales by taking talent off the show. No offense to names like Big Show, Christian, CM Punk, Matt Hardy, Undertaker and Rey Mysterio, but if you had a choice, which brand would you pay to see live? I think many would opt for Raw because the ticket just seems to be a better investment.

With Raw you potentially get to see Batista, Orton, Sheamus, Edge, John Cena, Chris Jericho, John Morrison and maybe Triple H. Smackdown boasts Mysterio, CM Punk, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Christian, Big Show and maybe Undertaker. It seems Taker is appearing less and less on the show these days. Even his appearance on Raw was under emergency circumstances because of the Raw wrestlers getting stuck in Europe.

Someone new may be in line after Swagger to become the next World Champion on Smackdown, but will they have the draw? Will fans put up ticket and merchandise money if Christian or Kofi Kingston become the new champ? I'm not saying for a minute that anyone pays to see Swagger wrestle, but there were plenty of people upset to hear Edge and Jericho were both drafted off Smackdown. These were two other championship contenders. Extreme Rules even saw Swagger face a Raw wrestler in Randy Orton. Still, some fans had purchased tickets to Smackdown just to see particular wrestlers who are now on Raw. While their tickets aren't worthless, the level of top name superstars seems to be lacking on Smackdown. They'll really need to give some of the new guys a push, whether it be newly acquired draft wrestlers or a few from WWE NXT.

I will make the case for Smackdown tickets being worthwhile due to one advantage that it seems to hold over Raw- and that is fresh new storylines and feuds. If nothing else, CM Punk's StraightEdge Society, having Jack Swagger win the MITB and the World Title, and the Shad Gaspard breakaway from Cryme Tyme are just a few intriguing new plots. Raw seems to do a lot of the same ol, same ol and leaves the fans wanting more. Case in point like someone mentioned, Batista once again becoming #1 Contender. If you look at the talent on Raw, Edge, Jericho, Orton have all been in feuds with Cena before over the title, so once again, it's the same ol, same ol Raw.

However, as long as Raw keeps the big names it has and continues to bring a celebrity guest host on each week, it still seems like a tough ticket to beat. There's plenty of fans who will buy tickets to see their favorite wrestlers compete, and if Undertaker is out of action, it's hard to attract fans to Smackdown, until they've established some new stars for the show.

Smackdown Preview 04.30.10

The landscape of the WWE was seriously altered this past week when the latest WWE Draft took place on Monday night Raw. Several top names were displaced from the Smackdown roster. The biggest of those names included former World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho, and the man who recently defeated him at Extreme Rules, Edge. The Rated-R Superstar Edge had an immediate impact on his new roster Monday night, when he decided to show up at the Triple Threat match between Randy Orton, Batista and Sheamus. Edge altered the course of the match, costing Orton his chance to become new #1 contender for John Cena's title. Edge had just bumped into the World Champion Jack Swagger backstage before getting drafted, and put him on notice. However, it now appears Swagger won't have to deal with Edge. With Jericho and Edge out of the picture on Smackdown, who will be the newest #1 Contender for Jack Swagger's World Heavyweight title?

Smackdown's newest acquisitions from the draft will include the Big Show, Christian, MVP and Kofi Kingston. All of these superstars have worn WWE gold at one time or another in their careers, with all of them having held individual and tag titles as well. On Smackdown, they'll have new challengers to go after including the Intercontinental champion Drew McIntyre and World Champion Jack Swagger. Will any of the newest Smackdown roster members immediately put themselves at the forefront of the contenders list?

On tonight's first Smackdown since the 2010 WWE Draft we'll get to see a few one-on-one matches involving former Smackdown roster members against new Smackdown acquisitions. In one match, new Smackdown star Cody Rhodes will face new Raw superstar, John Morrison. In another match it will be Kofi Kingston looking to bring Trouble in paradise to former Smackdown star Chris Jericho. The newest members of the Smackdown roster will want to make an early name for themselves, but will they be able to do so at the expense of John Morrison and Chris Jericho?

WWE Superstars Recap 04.29.10

WWE Superstars recap 04.29.10

Michael Cole said it's been a controversial week in the WWE. He and Lawler agreed that the WWE Draft really shook up the landscape of the WWE this past week. They promised a full draft review after the first match. Gail Kim arrived out for the opening Raw divas match on Superstars.

Gail Kim vs. Jillian

During the match, Jillian put Gail up on her shoulders then dropped back to slam her to the mat. She had a near fall with Gail kicking out, then put a submission hold on before standing Gail up. Gail started to punch back, but Jillian knocked her down.

Late in the match, Jillian picked up Gail near the ropes, but Gail held onto the top rope then used her legs to throw Jillian. From there, the two divas started exchanging strikes, but Gail got the upperhand. She whipped Jillian to the corner and hit her with a flying clothesline. On the second charging move, Jillian moved. Gail flew back off the corner for a flying bodypress pin, but Jillian rolled through. Gail kicked out of the pinfall. Jillian did her handstand flip to ram Gail in the corner, but then missed on her next move, hitting the post shoulder first. Gail grabbed her by the arm and stuck a foot against Jillian's neck before dropping down to the mat. Gail scores the pinfall win.

Winner: Gail Kim wins via pinfall over Jillian.

They reviewed Monday night Raw's 3 hour show which included the 2010 WWE Draft. Matches were held between the members of Raw and Smackdown to determine which brand got the next draft picks. Each brand got 4. Kelly Kelly, Big Show, Christian and Kofi Kingston were drafted to Smackdown. R-Truth, John Morrison, Edge and Chris Jericho to Raw. During the main event Triple Threat match for the #1 Contender's spot, Orton, Batista and Sheamus fought it out. Orton hit the RKO and was ready for the pin, until new Raw acquisition Edge came to the ring and speared Orton, allowing Batista to score the winning pinfall.

Primo vs. Zack Ryder

Rosa Mendes accompanied Ryder to the ring. Cole said Rosa has been drafted to Smackdown so it will be interesting to see how their relationship goes in the next few weeks.

During this contest, Primo managed to gain some momentum when he dumped Ryder out over the top rope. Ryder hit chin first on the apron then fell to the outside. Primo prepared to run and jump out onto him but Ryder got up and blocked it. Primo grabbed the top rope and jumped out onto Ryder anyway, crashing to the floor. The two got back in the ring for more of a fight. Ryder suplexed Primo gut first onto the top rope, then delivered a high knee to knock him to the outside. Superstars went to commercial break.

Superstars returned with Ryder locking a submission hold on Primo to ground him, as Rosa looked on from ringside. Primo tried for a comeback as he ran against the ropes, but Zach hit him with a Flapjack for a near fall. Later still, Ryder missed on a leg drop from off the corner. Primo was still down but kicked Ryder in the face with both legs, then rolled him up for several near falls. Primo continued to be in control but couldn't capture the pinfall. In the closing moments, Ryder yanked Primo by his leg off the corner, then hit the Zack Attack for the win. The commentators claim it was due to Rosa Mendes providing a distraction to Primo from ringside.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins via pinfall over Primo.

Superstars returned with highlights from the Extreme Rules Street Fight which Sheamus won against Triple H. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker of Smackdown were on hand to review this past Monday night Raw's unified tag team title match. Hart Dynasty was able to defeat ShowMiz when Kidd locked a Sharpshooter on The Miz. After the match, Big Show clocked The Miz with a huge knockout punch.

The Hart Dynasty vs. The DudeBusters

Grisham noted that Hart Dynasty and Natalya all ended up being drafted over to Raw in the Supplemental draft.

Midway through the match, Barretta baited DH Smith into going after him. Smith kept his attention on Barretta outside the ring, while the legal man Croft came over and hit Smith out of the ring. Barretta ran over and smashed Smith down outside the ring as the ref was distracted by Croft inside.

When Superstars returned from commercial, Barretta had Smith down in a headlock. Smith managed to break away eventually and tagged in Kidd who had serious momentum. Croft and Barretta regained control when Barretta DDT'd Kidd on the side apron. Croft tagged back in and had the near fall in the ring, then started to use the headlock to wear Kidd down. The DudeBusters continued to keep Kidd from tagging out and tried to wear him down near their corner.

In the closing moments, Kidd was down in the corner. Barretta charged at him, but Kidd got up and tossed Barretta face first into the ringpost. Kidd slowlsy crawled over, then jumped to make the hot tag to Smith. Croft tagged in as well, but was taken down several times by Smith, who also clocked Barretta off the apron. Croft hit a chinbusters, but then made the mistake of putting his head down. Smith grabbed him for a standing suplex, letting the blood flow down to Croft's head before completing it. Croft and Barretta started to leave outside the ring, but Natalya came over and slapped Barretta in the face.

Kidd came into the ring and then ran against the opposite ropes. DH Smith helped launch him up over the top rope, and Kidd crashed down onto The DudeBusters. Back in the ring, Smith put Croft into a Bear Hug. Tyson Kidd jumped off the ropes to complete the Hart Attack finisher.

Winners: The Hart Dynasty wins via pinfall over The DudeBusters Croft & Barretta.

2010 WWE Draft & Extreme Rules Analysis

It's been quite a week for the WWE Universe, with the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View airing on Sunday night, and then the WWE Draft taking place Monday night, as well as Tuesday for the supplemental draft. You can view the draft results here.

Let's start with Extreme Rules. There were no major shockers on this card. Some speculations were that Batista would be gone after the Last Man Standing match, but as we saw on Raw, he's still in the picture, and will have a third match against Cena at "Over the Limit" the next PPV with the WWE Title on the line again. Many have called Cena's Extreme Rules win cheap. He used duct tape to tape Batista's legs around the ringpost and The Animal couldn't stand up. Brains over brawn? You decide.

Extreme Rules gave us a new Womens Champion as Beth Phoenix defeated Michelle McCool. Also, a night later on Raw The Hart Dynasty defeated ShowMiz for the Unified tag titles. If I were to pick a surprise from Extreme Rules it would be JTG's win over Shad, but that's really not a huge win either way. It set up JTG's move over to Raw so he can lose and help put other guy's over, or maybe be Ted Dibiase's new "Virgil" as R-Truth put it last night. Some have speculated Dibiase will align himself with Ezekiel Jackson.

Speaking of Raw, the 3-hour show desperately needed a guest host Monday night. Having Cena come out to the ramp and do his mock phone call with someone from WWE HQ was rather lame. Cena's improv skills are still lacking, but he's still popular with many fans, and will probably never leave Raw in any draft for the next five years. Still they could have used a good moderator guest host. Who was setting up the various Raw vs Smackdown matches? Or was it the "WWE Brass" who arranged them all prior to the show?

As for the draft, Raw clearly came away with more bigtime star power, but Smackdown may be developing some of the rising stars into major talent. Edge made an immediate impact on Raw when he speared Orton during a #1 Contender Triple Threat match. Appears those former Rated RKO partners will be in a feud again. However, seeing Jericho and Big Show drafted and hearing the fake excitement from the Raw or Smackdown commentators was a bit much. We've seen both these guys show up on Raw or Smackdown for the past several years so those aren't groundbreaking picks.

WWE held its Round 2 of the draft via WWE.com. I was part of the WWE Universe live chat involving The Fink, Melina, Michelle McCool and others from the Universe about the Supplemental draft on Tuesday. During that live chat you could see fans saying that Smackdown was screwed over. Also fans were upset over having tickets for Smackdown, yet seeing Edge and Jericho drafted away, or Mickie James being released. Some of the picks in the Supplemental draft included Ezekiel Jackson to Raw, Great Khali to Raw, Natalya to Raw, Cody Rhodes to Smackdown and Chris Masters to Smackdown.

It's funny, but shouldn't the guys on WWE NXT just get drafted between the two shows? Does anyone really expect WWE to just dispose of all the guys involved in that competition except just one "next superstar"? That wasn't the case in many of the Diva Search competitions, as even first round eliminated females managed to come back to WWE in some capacity and do well with the company.

While we're on the topic of NXT, they had a competition last night to sell programs to people in the audience. Definitely not needed and wasted some valuable TV time, but fans got to put their mugs on TV too. Wade Barrett tweeted the following after he just walked off with a wad of cash that he was supposed to use as change. He chose to not even compete and left with "Mr. McMahon's money":

"Just for the record, I left NXT with $100 of Vince's cash in my sky rocket. The other rookies all left empty handed. Who's the winner now?"

- Just for the record Wade, you probably would be more of a winner to win the NXT competition and get a WWE contract instead of just $100 of change from merchandise.

Back to the draft moves, it does seem Raw got a lot more talent out of the draft, but I can also see a new major champ coming sometime for Smackdown. Kofi Kingston and Christian both seem primed for that role. Christian was able to defeat and successfully defend the ECW Championship against Jack Swagger many times, and could be a contender. Kofi Kingston started getting into the title picture on Raw a while back and had a good run against Orton. We could see Kofi or Christian as the next World Heavyweight Champion later this year.

2010 WWE Draft results & Supplemental draft

WWE held Round 1 of its 2010 WWE Draft on Monday night, with seven superstars and one diva getting relocated. Among the big names in the draft so far were Edge, Chris Jericho, Kofi Kingston and John Morrison. Michael Cole announced that there would be more draft moves made in a Supplemental draft, as WWE has held in years past. Here's the results of WWE Draft 2010 held on Monday Night Raw:

Raw Recap 04.26.10 - WWE Draft 2010

Raw Recap from Richmond, VA:

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler said tonight's a night when "change is in the air" with the 2010 WWE Draft (see results). Every superstar from Raw and Smackdown is present tonight. Matt Striker was also there with Cole and Lawler for commentary. Starting things off is a tag team title match after ShowMiz lost at Extreme Rules to Hart Dynasty last night. ShowMiz made their way down to the ring to start the show.

Miz grabbed a mic and said last night ShowMiz was forced to compete against 3 tag teams in 3 straight matches. He said as a result Hart Dynasty got handed a tag team match tonight. Miz said it's all because of Uncle Bret. Miz called them out for being a "Dynasty" but not winning championships. He brought up Stu Hart and asked if he ever trained them to face a 500lb giant or how to face a technical ring master like Miz? Miz said the Harts were trained to be losers. Miz also said Bret Hart needs to come out and honor their deal to declare ShowMiz "the greatest tag team in WWE history." Miz started to do the "we're aweso-" line but was interrupted by Bret's music.

Bret Hart came out and declared "ShowMiz is the greatest tag team of all time," and that "Mountie was greatest Intercontinental champ of all time" and "David Arquette is greatest world champion of all time." Bret said he can say whatever he wants, but truth is talk is cheap, and it's all about results. Bret said tonight Hart Dynasty will be declared the new Unified tag team champs.

Natalya and Bret were ringside with Hart Dynasty for the match.

During the late stages of the match, Miz went for a rollup pin on Smith and used the middle rope for leverage. Bret came over and shoved Miz' feet off the ropes, breaking up the pin. Striker screamed for a DQ because Bret got involved. Big Show came around the side of the ring to go after Bret, but Kidd jumped off the apron to crash down onto Show. Meanwhile, DH Smith nearly got the pin on Miz. Miz kicked out, but DH Smith tagged in Kidd and put up Miz in the Bear Hug. Kidd did the springboard clothesline to complete Hart Attack. From there, Kidd looked around at the crowd, then applied the Sharpshooter. Miz eventually tapped out from the pain, giving Hart Dynasty the tag titles.

Bret and Natalya got in the ring to celebrate with Kidd and Smith.

Winners: The Hart Dynasty wins via submission over ShowMiz to become new Unified Tag Team champions.

Up next, Cole said they'll have the headlines from Extreme Rules. They showed a graphic of Sheamus standing tall over Triple H.

Raw returned with highlights from Extreme Rules of Batista vs Cena in the WWE Title Last Man Standing match. They showed both guys being smashed through tables, as well as Cena putting the STF on Batista. Cena duct taped Batista's legs together around the ringpost so he couldn't stand up.

During the commercial break there was a confrontation between Miz and Big Show. They showed how Big Show landed a huge knockout punch to Miz' head to KO Miz onto the mat.

Cole, Lawler and Striker discussed Sheamus vs Triple H last night. Early in the event, Sheamus attacked Triple H and layed him out backstage with a steel pipe. Sheamus demanded to be declared winner by forfeit. Triple H emerged from the training room backstage to come out and compete in the Street Fight. Sheamus continued to dominate and beat up Triple H, using a series of pump kicks inside and outside the ring to defeat him for the win. As HHH was being helped up the ramp, Sheamus came out from backstage and hit yet another kick to his head. HHH was taken away via a stretcher. Matt Striker said it's unclear how long HHH will miss.

Backstage, Josh Matthews interviewed Jack Swagger. Swagger said his performance last night screams "World Champion" after he dominated Randy Orton. Swagger said he's the most talented and most educated World Champion ever. Swagger said if he were on Wall Street, the country would not be in debt, it'd be flourishing. Just then, Edge came walking in. Edge told Swagger to be worried that he beat Jericho last night in a steel cage. Edge said that puts him in line for a World title shot, so Swagger needs to worry about how many days he has left as champ.

They showed highlights of last week's WWE Divas title win by Eve over Maryse. Lawler, Cole and Striker said there will be a series of Raw vs Smackdown matches with the winning side getting the next draft pick of the night.

Eve & Maryse vs. Layla & Michelle McCool

The winning team here gets a diva draft pick. Eve grabbed Layla's leg and went over to tag Maryse. Maryse refused to tag then kicked Eve in the gut through the ropes. Eve slid to the outside and pulled Maryse down. The two divas started their catfight, with Eve getting the best of Maryse, leaving her near the barrier. Eve went back in, only to get attacked by Layla and then Michelle who tagged in.

Eve shot a look at Maryse who was back up on the apron. Instead of tagging, she took control of McCool on her own. As Eve ran against the ropes, Maryse slapped her head to tag in. Eve took exception and started arguing with Maryse before getting back on the apron. As Maryse turned around she ate a big boot to the face from Michelle McCool.

Winner: Team LayCool wins via pinfall over Maryse & Eve. Smackdown gets first draft pick.

Smackdown gets Kelly Kelly with the #1 draft pick. Striker started to celebrate it. Kelly arrived out to the ramp waving to the fans as her theme music played. LayCool mockingly offered for Kelly Kelly to come get in the ring.

CM Punk was shown walking backstage with Luke Gallows and Serena.

Evan Bourne vs. CM Punk

Late in the match, Punk rolled to the outside after sustaining attacks from Bourne. Gallows came over to check on him. Bourne prepared for a running dive over the ropes to take them out, but Serena came over to stand in the way. Bourne got up and did a springboard off the top rope, landing on Punk and Gallows. He tossed Punk back in the ring, and eventually hit him with a running kick to the head in the corner. He set up for Air Bourne, but Serena jumped on the apron to distract the ref. The hooded figure who got involved at Extreme Rules came out from the crowd, got on the apron and shoved Bourne off. Punk was able to hit the GTS for the win.

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over Evan Bourne. Smackdown gets second draft pick.

Smackdown gets Big Show with the #2 draft pick. Show came out onto the top of the ramp, and once again Striker was ecstatic about it.

Sheamus was shown walking backstage with a grin on his face. Lawler said he's out next to discuss his destruction of The Game at Extreme Rules last night.

When Raw returned, the commentators reviewed the two draft picks so far, with Smackdown getting Kelly Kelly and Big Show.

Backstage, Big Show was walking down the hall, and Smackdown GM Teddy Long came up to congratulate him on being the latest addition to Smackdown. Show wouldn't shake Teddy's hand, but then put his arm around him and cracked a joke. Show walked off, and Teddy did a dance of joy singing "got myself a winner."

The Celtic Warrior Sheamus arrived out to the ring. Sheamus said the good news is HHH won't be drafted to Smackdown. He said the bad news is HHH will never wrestle again after last night. Sheamus said he made HHH's career end last night on his own terms. Sheamus said now he wants the WWE Championship. He started to call out Cena, but Orton's music hit and The Viper arrived down to the ring.

Orton told Sheamus that nobody's despised HHH more than he has. Orton said he did what he did to HHH like a man though, face-to-face. Orton said he didn't jump him from behind with a lead pipe. Orton told Sheamus he doesn't deserve a title shot. Sheamus cut him off saying Orton had his title chance last night and lost. He warned Orton to get out of the ring or risk being put on the sidelines like HHH. Orton threatened to hit him with the RKO right now and pop his head off. Sheamus said he doesn't deal with losers and he will face Cena for the WWE title. Sheamus said there's nothing Orton can do about it. Just then, Cena's music came on and out came the WWE Champion.

Cena said both guys think they should be #1 Contender for the title but can't choose who it should be. Cena said he couldn't think of a better opportunity to introduce tonight's guest host. He kept saying "tonight's guest host..." but nobody came out from backstage. Cena pretended to get a call on his cell phone, then said "What, there's no guest host?" Cena started making jokes about Sheamus' pale complexion. Cena said he was told at the start of the night the only one who can decide the #1 Contender for his title tonight is John Cena. Cena said if they want a title shot, they have to earn it in a match: Sheamus vs. Randy Orton.

Cena left the scene. Sheamus immediately tried to go at Orton with a boot pump kick. Orton avoided it then went for the RKO. Sheamus shoved him off and escaped out of the ring. He backed up the ramp staring down at Orton in the ring.

Backstage, they showed Kane, R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, Drew McIntyre & Shad Gaspard all walking side-by-side wearing blue Smackdown T-shirts. Lawler said up next is a 10 man tag team match between Raw and Smackdown.

Raw vs Smackdown 10 Man Battle Royal for 3 Draft picks

Santino Marella, Mark Henry, MVP, Yoshi Tatsu & Ted Dibiase were in the match for Raw. Kane, R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, Drew McIntyre & Shad Gaspard competed for Smackdown. Three draft picks were at stake in this 10 man tag team match between Raw and Smackdown.

Santino told his team he'd start things off, then turned to look down at Rey Mysterio. He turned back around and acted like he had the matchup to his team. Kane replaced Mysterio, and as Santino turned he became scared. Kane delivered a right hand to floor him and the match was underway. First man eliminated was Drew McIntyre as he tried to throw Yoshi Tatsu out. Next out was Tatsu who got eliminated by a clothesline over the ropes from Shad.

After a commercial break, Raw returned with Mysterio using a headscissors to throw MVP out over the top rope. Next, Santino Marella managed to come over and clothesline Shad and R-Truth over the ropes as they tried to eliminate Dibiase. Santino celebrated for the crowd, then turned to get Chokeslammed by Kane. It was down to just Kane and Mysterio for Smackdown versus Kane, Mark Henry and Dibiase. Kane eliminated Mark Henry next. Dibiase dropped down to pull the top rope down as Kane charged at him. Kane fell to the outside.

It was down to Rey Mysterio for Smackdown, and Dibiase/Marello for Raw. Dibiase thought he eliminated Mysterio, but Rey hung onto the rope then did a springboard onto Dibiase. The two guys kept fighting near the ropes and on the apron. Dibiase used another move near the ropes. The two guys kept fighting it out on the apron, with Rey shoving Dibiase against the ringpost hurting his shoulder. Rey went running at Dibiase who put his boot up. Mysterio was knocked down to the outside, giving Raw 3 draft picks.

Winners: Team Raw wins the 10 man battle royal over Smackdown to get 3 draft picks.

John Morrison was drafted to Raw with the #3 draft pick. Morrison came out onto the ramp to celebrate his new brand home.

Next, R-Truth was drafted to Raw with the #4 pick. He came out onto the top of the ramp and hugged Morrison then started dancing to "What's Up?"

The #5 draft pick for Raw was Smackdown's Edge. Edge arrived out onto the top of the ramp. Morrison and Truth applauded the draft pick then shook hands with the Rated R Superstar.

They showed highlights from Tuesday night's WWE NXT on SyFy where rookie Heath Slater countered Jericho's "Walls of Jericho" submission to turn it into a surprise pinfall. Jericho went crazy after the win, throwing chairs and screaming at the referee for the decision.

Chris Jericho arrived down to the ring for the next match. Jericho complained about being part of an unfair attack by Edge at last night's Extreme Rules PPV in the cage match. Jericho demanded an immediate suspension for Edge by Teddy Long or the Raw guest host. Jericho said it's partly his own blame for losing last night, saying he was shaken after losing to a nameless rookie on NXT. Jericho said he's still the best in the world at what he does. Jericho also said Heath Slater owes him an apology for costing him the match against Edge last night. Jericho demanded that Heath come down to the ring right now.

Slater arrived out to the WWE NXT theme song and smiled on his way to the ring. He got in the ring with a mic in hand to respond to Jericho. Slater said he's sorry Jericho couldn't beat Edge last night, or him last week, and he's sorry Jericho won't beat his pro Christian tonight. Christian came out down the ramp. Slater tossed Jericho outside the ring to the bottom of the ramp as Christian was arriving. Jericho rushed back in and chased Slater who retreated to the outside.

vs. Chris Jericho

Another Smackdown vs Raw match for a 2010 draft pick. Christian was able to knock Jericho to the outside and went to work on h im out there as Raw went to commercial.

Late in the match, Christian countered Walls of Jericho into a near fall. Jericho escaped and hit the enziguiri kick to take down Christian for his own near fall. Jericho took control with a series of attacks. He went for a bulldog, but Christian countered with a reverse DDT to slam Jericho back first to the mat. Another near fall ensued. Christian went for Killswitch, but Jericho countered and then went for Walls of Jericho. Christian punched back at Jericho, who slingshotted him into the corner. Christian with the Sunset Flip out of the corner.

Jericho finally got Walls of Jericho locked in center ring area. Striker yelled for Christian to tap out. Christian began to crawl towards the bottom rope, screaming in pain. Christian finally stretched to grab the rope and break the hold. Jericho started complaining to the ref. He went over at Christian who was on the apron, but Christian responded with a big right hand punch. Captain Charisma went off the top rope, jumping at Jericho, who caught him with the Codebreaker for the pinfall win.

Slater came in to check on his pro Christian, then got attacked from behind by Jericho. Jericho finished him off with a Codebreaker then had his arm raised for the victory.

Winner: Chris Jericho wins via pinfall over Christian to win Smackdown the #7 draft pick.

Smackdown gets the #7 draft pick, Kofi Kingston from Raw. Kofi came out to the ramp to celebrate the latest draft pick. Kofi charged to the ring and went right after Jericho. He dodged a move from Jericho then hit Trouble in Paradise to take him down.

They showed a split screen backstage of John Morrison and Jack Swagger walking. They meet next in another Raw vs Smackdown match for a draft pick.

They reviewed the tag team title match from earlier where Hart Dynasty defeated ShowMiz. After the match, Big Show delivered a KO punch to The Miz leaving him layed out in the ring.

Matt Striker said the next WWE Pay-Per-View is "Over the Limit" sponsored by Axe Hair.

John Morrison vs. Jack Swagger

Late in this contest, Swagger went for a Gutwrench Powerbomb near the ropes. Morrison held the top rope to prevent the move then was able to hit a legsweep to bring Swagger back first to the mat. With Swagger down, Morrison went for Starship Pain. Morrison hopped into a seated position on the corner of the ring. Swagger jumped to his feet and punched Morrison in the back, then hit a Gutwrench Powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over John Morrison to get the next draft pick for Smackdown.

Smackdown gets Christian with the #7 draft pick. Christian arrived out onto the ramp as the next pick, looking out at his peeps. He looked down to the ring and signaled to Swagger that he'll be going after the World title.

Next week's Raw guest host is comedian/actor Wayne Brady. Lawler and Cole reviewed their latest draft picks John Morrison, R-Truth and Edge. Also, Smackdown received Christian, Big Show and Kelly Kelly.

Backstage, Carlito was in a meeting with Ted Dibiase in the locker room. Carlito said he'd rather sit on the sidelines than take Dibiase's offer. Carlito left and Dibiase turned to see R-Truth. He welcomed Truth to Raw, then said he had a proposition for him. Dibiase said he's been looking for a conidant to look after things, carrying his bags, etc. Truth said carry his boots, shine up the belt and help cook him dinner. Dibiase said sure. Truth said it sounds like Dibiase wants a "Virgil" just like his daddy. Dibiase said they'd have a different relationship where Truth does what he wants him to do and he pays him a lot of money. Truth asked for time to think about it. Dibiase said sure, and Truth slapped him saying "Truth don't play that" before leaving.

They rolled a highlight video set to a Nickelback song of John Cena's efforts for the US military overseas over the years.

Hornswoggle vs. Dolph Ziggler

Michael Cole said tomorrow starting at Noon EST there will be a supplemental draft on WWE.com. Hornswoggle came out dressed in a greem army hat, DX shirt and camo pants. Ziggler chased Hornswoggle outside the ring as the ref counted, then rolled him back in. Ziggler climbed up on the apron nonchalantly. Each time Ziggler climbed on the apron, Hornswoggle either kicked him away or threw something at him. Ziggler was counted out. Ziggler rushed into the ring to knock Hornswoggle down after the match. He locked a sleeper hold on Hornswoggle to put the little guy out. The ref yelled at Ziggler for what he did after the match. The commentators reviewed the highlights.

Jerry Lawler got into the ring to check on Hornswoggle as Ziggler left the ring.

Winner: Hornswoggle wins due to countout of Dolph Ziggler.

Raw gets Chris Jericho with the #8 draft pick, the final pick of the night. Jericho arrived out onto the ramp wearing a business suit looking smug as he glanced around at the Raw audience members.

Batista arrived to the ring to yell at everyone that he should be the WWE Champion and he is the #1 Contender. He screamed about Cena using duct tape to win last night, and said Extreme Rules was a joke. Batista said nobody humiliates him like that. Batista said Cena owes him a match and he's not leaving until he gets it.

Sheamus arrived to the ring staring at The Animal. They showed the bruises on Sheamus' pale white back from a kendo stick attack at Extreme Rules. Sheamus got in the ring and told Batista he needs to get it straight that he lost last night. Sheamus said Batista and Orton are both a bunch of losers. Orton's music hit next, and The Viper arrived down to the ring. Batista stayed inside the ring still.

Orton said for the past seven years he's listened to Batista whine and make excuses. Orton said he'd make a deal. First he'll defeat Sheamus, then he'll beat Batista after. Sheamus got on the mic saying neither of them deserves a title shot. They all started to argue. Cena arrived out to the ramp. He said the solution is simple, it's now a Triple Threat match.

Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Sheamus
#1 Contender Triple Threat match for WWE Title

Batista slid out of the ring to watch Sheamus and Orton battle it out as the match started. Orton eventually overcame Sheamus' attack, to send him out of the ring. Batista came in with Orton getting the upperhand and eventually stomping away on him in the corner. Batista eventually went to the outside to recover, but Orton came out to attack near the crowd barrier. He pounded away on The Animal, but Batista raked his eyes, then sent Orton back in the ring.

Late in the match, Sheamus set up Orton for the Pale Justice (Razor's Edge) finisher. Sheamus let Orton slide off as Batista ran and Speared Sheamus down for a near fall. Orton came over and hit a backbreaker on Batista, then Sheamus hit the pump kick on Batista. He went for one on Orton who ducked it and dropped Sheamus with a scoop powerslam. Orton dropped down and began to maniacally pound the mat ready for the RKO. Sheamus got to his feet and Orton hit the RKO. Just then, the Rated-R Superstar rushed into the ring and hit a Spear on Orton. He looked at Orton then left the ring to back up the ramp.

The Animal got his arm lazily over Orton to make the winning pinfall with Sheamus down near the corner.

Winner: Batista wins via pinfall over Randy Orton to become #1 Contender for the WWE Championship.

Cole, Lawler and Striker reviewed what just happened in the match. They discussed how Edge had the biggest impact on Raw in the 2010 WWE Draft. Raw ended with Batista's theme music playing and The Animal raising his arms up on the ramp. Edge smiled from the top of the ramp as Orton was holding his midsection in the ring looking at Edge.

Raw Preview 04.26.10

Tonight's special episode of Monday Night Raw could see the rosters of Raw and Smackdown shaken up completely as the 2010 WWE Draft is held. In years past, there's been some monumental moves including just last year when wrestlers including MVP and The Miz were brought over to Raw, while Rey Mysterio and CM Punk headed to Smackdown. During last year's special 3-hour draft show, wrestlers from the brands competed with the winning wrestler's brand getting the next draft pick. Who will win in the 2010 WWE Draft? Will any of the major title holders be moved onto new shows?

The draft is taking place just one night after WWE's Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View was held. It featured several of the current Raw roster members in matches with extreme stipulations or rules including Randy Orton coming up short against Jack Swagger for the World Heavyweight title. John Cena successfully defended his WWE Title against The Animal Batista in the Last Man Standing match. In the Street Fight match, Sheamus started attacking Triple H at the start of the PPV then despite The Game's best efforts to retaliate during their official match, he couldn't withstand The Celtic Warrior. Triple H ended up losing and was eventually taken away via stretcher. Will we see or hear from Triple H on Raw? What's next for Sheamus after this dominant victory?

Last night's event also saw the current Unified Tag Team champions ShowMiz put into a three tag-team Gauntlet match. In the first part of the match, they were able to win against R-Truth and John Morrison, but due to referee's decision when Morrison refused to break a submission hold on Big Show. In match 2, they faced Mark Henry & MVP, with Big Show landing a sneaky KO punch on the Ballin' Superstar, allowing Miz to get the pinfall. However, Miz had already been knocked down by the Playmaker from MVP, and tag team three was announced. The Hart Dynasty arrived to the ring along with the legendary Bret Hart. The Dynasty was able to beat ShowMiz within just 10 seconds time after using the Hart Attack to pin Miz. Miz has claimed that Bret Hart must proclaim ShowMiz "the greatest tag team of all time." Will The Hitman go through with the requirement, or will he have different words in mind for ShowMiz?

Before selling WWE Raw back to Mr. McMahon at double the original buy price, Donald Trump made sure to orchestrate a major superstar trade between the three shows. That's right ECW, Raw and Smackdown each acquired 5 new superstars just months after the 2009 WWE Draft. Here's the breakdown of who went where:

It's interesting to see just who went where. As we already know Raw picked up some major talent from the ECW in Henry, Swagger and Bourne, and as you see above they added 2 Smackdown divas, Gail Kim and Alicia Fox as eye candy. Matt Hardy wasn't quite cutting it on Raw, so a move back to Smackdown where his brother wrestles makes some sense. The Hart Dynasty also needed to be showcased in the tag division and quite possibly they'll make a run at the unified titles now.

The moves of William Regal, Goldust and the Bellas to ECW definitely will be interesting as well. Shelton Benjamin's been there before, but maybe this time he'll capture the ECW title. William Regal could be a contender as well, while Goldust leaves behind Hornswoggle at Raw.

Smackdown Preview 04.23.09

Tonight's episode of Smackdown airs just days ahead of the upcoming, intense Backlash Pay-Per-View. To prepare for one of the event's main matches, Smackdown will host a preview tonight as Shane McMahon and Batista will team up to face the team of Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase. Last week on the debut of WWE Superstars, Shane McMahon faced Rhodes one-on-one, with the outcome a disqualification when Shane began using a steel chair on his opponent. Batista was able to defeat Ted Dibiase despite a good showing from Dibiase, with the Batista Bomb. This past week on Raw was a different story, as Shane and Batista got involved in Triple H's No DQ matchup against Randy Orton. Triple H's future Backlash opponents, Rhodes and Dibiase rushed to the ring to interfere, but Shane and Batista weren't far behind to try to help. Unfortunately, Batista was blinded by a move and accidentally speared down Shane McMahon, causing a confrontation between The Animal and Triple H. All of the chaos and confusion resulted in a sneaky win as Randy Orton grabbed Triple H and hit the RKO to pin him. How will Shane and Batista get along during tonight's
match? Will Shane seek retribution against The Animal, or will these two Backlash teammates finally be on the same page?

Several new Smackdown stars will be wrestling at this weekend's Backlash Pay-Per-View, including the newest draftees, CM Punk and Kane. Those two saw a surprise finish to their match as Punk used a counter to roll up Kane for a pinfall. The Big Red Machine was shocked at how the 2009 Money in the Bank winner has now defeated him on two straight occasions. Punk and Kane will meet up once again at Backlash, but they'll also be in action tonight. Who will gain the upperhand between these two new Smackdown wrestlers? Also, Matt Hardy has vowed he will completely destroy his brother Jeff Hardy. The brothers are set to fight in an "I Quit" match this Sunday for Backlash, meaning one brother will need to say the words loud and clear for the WWE Universe to witness. With Backlash coming up, something's got to give between the feuding brothers. What will the two brothers have in store for tonight's episode of Smackdown? Will their feud intensify even more?

Another wrestler who was removed from Smackdown by the draft is United States Champion, Montell Vontavius Porter (MVP). The usually cocky superstar will now call Raw his home, and has brought the US title with him. Despite still carrying the belt, MVP saw a strange loss on Smackdown just a week ago, when Smackdown newcomer Dolph Ziggler was able to roll him up in a pin, grabbing MVP's tights to secure the win. MVP was shocked at the loss which came from the man who may be more cocky and arrogant than Porter. Will Smackdown's newest star continue to go after MVP or will he set his sights on another Smackdown superstar?

Also from London tonight, expect to see WWE Divas Champion Maryse, Gail Kim, Big Show and Undertaker all in action. Tune in to Smackdown Friday night at 8PM EST on MyNetworkTV!

Raw Revelations: No DQ ends with RKO

Last night's Raw offered some intriguing matchups featuring the two major champions both getting the Raw deal. Both men ended up layed out by their future Backlash opponents, with Edge sneaking in to get the best of Cena and Orton able to sneakily steal a victory with the RKO when Triple H was out of it. Legacy had Orton's back, while Shane and Batista didn't seem to have each other's backs. In fact, it looks like Batista and Triple H might be where we're heading next, with Orton possibly winning the WWE title, and those two fighting over the #1 Contender's spot. As for Cena, the whole time he was layed out, I kept waiting for CM Punk to emerge with the briefcase to win the title right before Backlash, once again screwing Edge out of it. But this didn't come to realization and Cena will keep the title heading into the PPV. As for Punk, his victory over Kane was good to see, in fact it might be the start of his push and possible heel turn.

There's been some wrestling bloggers disgruntled over how Raw wrestlers who were drafted to Smackdown are still on Raw and guys drafted from Smackdown are still on Smackdown and so forth. It's not a huge deal unless it keeps up for weeks, which it doesn't appear it will. The best way to view it may be similar to NBA trades, or even other pro sports where you don't see the guys on your team right away but know you will soon. The more I think about the way the 2009 WWE Draft went, it makes Raw extremely heavy with the top stars, while Smackdown seemed to lose a lot. Smackdown's title picture really just looks like Edge, Jericho, Jeff Hardy, Kane and Undertaker. As we know Undertaker is iffy in terms of when he can wrestle or not, and lately his title reigns have been shortlived. Kane has been lost in the shuffle in terms of a major title push and matches. Jeff Hardy, Jericho and CM Punk seem like the most likely choices for championship material on Smackdown. Raw on the other hand has the four biggest stars on its roster with Triple H, Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton. Toss in Big Show as well and Raw really has the more powerful contenders overall. It almost makes you wonder if one of them, maybe Cena or Triple H are heading off for a movie role, surgery or some time off. Same goes for the strange in-ring scenario where Big Show KO'd Mysterio and he was still on the mat for some time, is this a sign of time off for Mysterio, or will they be involved in some inter-brand feud?

Last night's Santino-Santina skit with the Titantron was definitely funny as Santino was trying to convince everyone his sister was a different person, but the replayed message on the screen kept going off at inopportune times or sped up when Santina was talking. Khali will get his opportunity to plant a kiss on Santina this coming Sunday at Backlash. Also, it looks like the Rosa-Beth feud everyone was anticipating is getting off to a start as Mendes was partly responsible for Beth losing the title match. It'll be great to see Rosa finally start wrestling, and possibly getting involved in the Divas title picture.

As for Ricky Steamboat, it's nice to see him getting his time in the spotlight again. We found out last night it'll be him and Jericho one-on-one at Backlash. I've seen Steamboat since his WWF days including his feuds with Macho Man, and have no problem with his return. It seems as if the WWE also is really banking on Ricky's recent popularity with the fans chanting and getting behind him, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. The question is how much steam does Steamboat have left to keep doing these matches?

Notably, the WWE Champion Triple H was drafted to Raw, giving the show two major title holders, since John Cena has the World Heavyweight title on Raw as well. The WWE Womens Champion Melina moved to Smackdown, basically trading places as the Divas champion Maryse was drafted to Raw. United States Champion MVP and Intercontinental Title holder Rey Mysterio also swapped shows. Top heels Chris Jericho and Kane moved over to Smackdown giving that show even more star power. Dissecting the 2009 WWE Draft

The 2009 version of the WWE Draft has now passed with a regular draft happening on Raw, and then a supplemental draft being broadcast via WWE.com and the WWE Universe fansite (an interesting experience seeing a chat full of WWE fan comments, The Fink and others as each supplemental pick was announced). In total, 36 wrestlers have been moved amongst the shows, including Hornswoggle and the WWE Divas. It's time to reflect on all the new possibilities, good, bad and ugly...

First off, I think ECW did a great job of freshening up their roster and creating an interesting bunch of title contenders for its show. Many fans might view ECW like NCAA college basketball players while Raw/Smackdown features the NBA pros. No matter how you see it, this TV show is already one worth watching, and that was definitely illustrated by the back and forth 16 minute match Evan Bourne had with John Morrison this past week. The match gave all sorts of things you don't see in a typical WWE match these days. Granted, Morrison is now on Smackodwn, but Bourne remains on ECW where he'll continue to shine. The ECW title picture got a lot more interesting with the draft though. Already there is Jack Swagger, Christian, Finlay, Tommy Dreamer & Mark Henry. Now add in relative newcomers like Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov as well as Hurricane Helms, and you've got some great potential feuds and matchups. There's also no reason any of those 3 couldn't wear the ECW title. Personally, I'm surprised Finlay wasn't moved to Raw with Hornswoggle, but he also works to train newer stars so that may be his reason for staying. Either way, good things will be in store for ECW, and with Natalya, DH Smith and Tyson Kidd, many are in belief that the next generation of the Hart Foundation is going to form.

A major speculation (and gripe for some fans) with the draft continues to be over what's going to happen with Raw having two major title holders, Cena and Triple H. Will there be a unification just like the tag titles had? Honestly, it doesn't look that way and it may become a spoiler for Backlash that Cena is more likely to lose his title. Most likely Edge will find a way to win the World Heavyweight title once again, but CM Punk is anxiously waiting with his MITB briefcase. Add to that, the fact that Cena and Edge are fighting in a Last Man Standing Match at Backlash and it almost looks crystal clear, that Punk will have a good opportunity to cash in. That's not to say Punk couldn't cash in on someone like Orton, and really get true revenge for Orton knocking him out of the title picture. Punk may even become a heel now that he's on Smackdown which could make things more interesting for that show. Some intriguing possibilities were set up by the draft with those particular moves (HHH to Raw, Punk to Smackdown).

Personally, I'm all for switching around the various wrestlers, but feel the championship belts may have more relevance if they are kept on particular brands and exclusively defended on that TV show or at PPV's. Keeping the titles this way also gives more meaning to the WWE Draft. Perhaps they could have anyone with a title who gets drafted, have to forefeit the title for that show, and then the GM decides how the new title holders or contenders get decided (Battle Royal, Gauntlet, Scramble, etc). I believe the WWE and Intercontinental titles should remain on Raw with the Womens title, while the United States, Divas and World Championship stay with Smackdown. ECW gets its sole title, and adding back the Cruiserweight would be a nice touch there for guys like Evan Bourne, Tyson Kidd and others to contend for. Still this isn't a huge deal and it will be interesting to see who the next winners of each of the titles is, and if the draft played a part in their success.

Some moves which could really propel some of the newer fresher stars into the top tier are MVP's move to Raw, Morrison to Smackdown, The Miz to Raw, and Ricky Ortiz to Smackdown. Ortiz has the look of a possible United States or Intercontinental Champion. We all know MVP, Morrison and yes even Miz have ring skills and the ability to play excellent heels. MVP currently is a fan favorite, and I'm especially interested to see who's going to start challenging for his US title first. Will it be The Miz receiving a top spot? Or The Brian Kendrick? Or will Miz and Kendrick form a new tag team alliance? I wouldn't mind seeing MVP get into the WWE title picture as a serious challenger, maybe even give Randy Orton a run for his money while HHH takes some time off.

Over on Smackdown they've drafted a bigtime talent with The Miz' former partner John Morrison, who has already achieved a great WWE resume so far. Morrison, formerly known as "Johnny Nitro" has held the tag titles multiple times (with both Miz and Joey Mercury), the Intercontinental title and the ECW title. He seems ready for a run at one of the major titles and it'd be nice to see him competing there. Unfortunately he may become Mysterio's challenger for the Intercontinental title for the time being with no immediate push. Speaking of Rey, many analysts are saying that Melina and Rey Mysterio were moved over to Smackdown to appeal to Latino viewers which Smackdown draws more of. So which viewers does Dolph Ziggler appeal to on Smackdown?

It also seems inevitable that the Colons were moved over to Raw so that Legacy could take away their unified tag titles. I see no reason that Legacy won't be wearing three belts with Orton having the WWE title, and Dibiase & Rhodes carrying the tag titles on Raw, so Orton can discuss how their plan finally came together to dominate the WWE Raw roster.

The 2009 WWE draft definitely opens up all sorts of exciting possibilities now, but let's hope that WWE can figure out a way to make the draft more relevant and noteworthy, rather than just another reason to have a 3 hour episode of Raw. If some of the stars who are new to various shows (Maryse, MVP, Punk, Miz, Ortiz, Helms, etc) find new fan popularity and success, then the draft definitely has relevance. If those stars sink or are lost in the shuffle, it's back to the creative drawing board.

Smackdown Preview 04.17.09

Tonight's episode of Smackdown comes just days after the 2009 WWE Draft completely changed the landscape of the WWE rosters, shaking things up. One of the biggest names drafted was Triple H being moved to Raw. With Triple H's move away from Smackdown, and John Cena staying put on Raw, the Smackdown show now has neither of the major titles. It gained champions Melina and Rey Mysterio while losing Divas champ Maryse and US Champion MVP to Raw. Smackdown has also added Chris Jericho, who was responsible for insulting plenty of talent on Raw including the WWE Hall of Famers. Smackdown also saw its unified tag team champions The Colons both drafted to Raw, as well as Nikki and Brie, The Bella Twins. Cryme Tyme will now bring their Brooklyn style to Smackdown, where they will be on a roster which also includes newcomers Alicia Fox, Mike Knox and Ricky Ortiz. How will all of this new talent fare on Smackdown?

Theodore Long is the new GM and calls the shots on Smackdown, while Edge is now separated from Vickie Guerrero. Edge and Vickie used to run things on Smackdown, making life miserable for many others on the roster. Meanwhile the Big Show will head back over to Raw where quite possibly he and Vickie Guerrero will rekindle their love affair. How will Edge gain some sort of advantage now that his wife is no longer in charge of the Smackdown show? Another name not mentioned above is CM Punk, the 2009 Money in the Bank winner. At the 2009 draft, Punk was selected by the Smackdown brand, his third roster in three years. There's always speculation going on as to who Punk will cash in his briefcase against to try to win a title. Punk may be the key to bringing a major title back to Smackdown, but the question becomes which superstar and title will Punk go after?

Let's not forget The Undertaker either, who recently extended his Wrestlemania undefeated streak to 17-0, after defeating Shawn Michaels. Undertaker haven't been heard from since the grueling match. Taker's brother Kane was drafted to Smackdown this past Monday night, which could possibly lead to a reunion of the "Brothers of Destruction", a powerful force in the tag team division. At the same time, it could lead to more matches between the Big Red Machine and The Phenom. First, Undertaker has to make an appearance. Will Undertaker show up on Smackdown and if so, what will his latest plans be?

Commentary: So things have become even more monstrous in the land of extreme. ECW gains yet another behemoth wrestler in Ezekiel Jackson who is of course The Brian Kendrick's bodyguard from Smackdown. Jackson is definitely a heavyweight caliber competitor and can compete for the ECW belt. Along with him, DH Smith makes the move to ECW as does Natalya, officially. Many are already suggesting a new Hart foundation will form with Tyson Kidd there as well. Also, the unified tag team champions have been moved to Raw, while Cryme Tyme moves to Smackdown. Alicia Fox is drafted to Smackdown, taking her away from DJ Gabriel, as are Mike Knox and Shad Gaspar of Cryme Tyme, breaking up a third tag team. Meanwhile Raw will regain superstar Mr. Kennedy.....Kennedy! It's going to be very interesting to see how the various stars Hornswoggle, Alicia Fox, Festus do now that they've been moved away from their allies (Finlay, DJ Gabriel, Jesse). During WWE Universe's live coverage of the supplemental draft Howard "The Fink" Finkel posed a very important question "Who's going to ring the bell for Festus if he needs it?" A good question indeed.
