Raw Preview 08.10.09
Tonight's episode of Raw will feature the third wrestler as special guest host and the second one to have held the WWE Championship. Sgt. Slaughter will fill in as guest host for tonight's show, and he's no stranger to the WWE scene. Slaughter has been part of matches as recent as several years ago, and was the WWE commissioner in 1997. Eventually, Slaughter became one of Vince McMahon's lackeys along with Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson. He held the WWE title back in 1991 after defeating the Ultimate Warrior at the Royal Rumble, and is known for his storied history against Hulk Hogan as well. Tonight Slaughter returns to the scene of Raw to preside over the WWE Superstars. What will Sgt. Slaughter have in store for the superstars of Raw? Will he find his way back into the ring for a match?
Last week's episode saw John Cena in a Lumberjack match against The Miz. The stipulation was that if Cena defeated Miz, that Miz would be banned from Summerslam, Staples Center in LA and also kicked off Raw. Cena had to face difficult odds when it turned out that the Lumberjacks were all handpicked by Randy Orton. Orton had Legacy around the ring as well as other heels like Chris Masters and Jack Swagger. Cena had to fight off the various wrestlers as well as guest hosts Jeremy Piven and Dr. Ken after the match. Miz lost meaning he'll no longer be on Raw and won't be at Summerslam or Staples Center. Cena's win propels him forward as he looks to go against Randy Orton at Summerslam for the WWE Title. However Randy Orton always seems to have tricks up his sleeve as he looks to gain the edge over his opponents. What will Orton try on tonight's show?
And finally, Triple H put himself into a tough situation last week when he faced Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes in a 2-on-1 Handicap match on Raw. The Game gave it all he had, but found it difficult to deal with his two wily opponents. Dibiase and Rhodes managed to doubleteam HHH effectively and eventually captured the win by pinfall. As Legacy celebrated on the ramp, Triple H got on a mic and admitted he didn't expect to lose but probably needs to make a phone call to get some assistance. Triple H mentioned if they weren't down with that he had two words for them. Later still in the show, Triple H was shown making a call backstage to someone asking them to make a return and be his tag team partner. Speculation has already started regarding a DX reunion, but which DX member will it be returning at Summerslam?
