Smackdown Preview 11.13.09

Tonight's episode of Smackdown will feature a first ever matchup between two of WWE's biggest superstars. Chris Jericho will go one-on-one with the current World Heavyweight champion, the Undertaker, in a non-title bout. This comes just over a week ahead of the huge Survivor Series Pay-Per-View which will feature Jericho competing in a Triple Threat match against his tag team partner the Big Show and the champion, Undertaker. On a recent episode of Smackdown, Undertaker discussed how he would continue to defend his title, which is like the "Holy Grail" inside the wrestling ring. He promised to dispatch of Show and Jericho at the PPV, but Jericho came to the ring to contend that Undertaker was a fraud. This prompted the Deadman to almost Chokeslam Jericho, who managed to quickly escape his clutches. The two will also be part of Monday Night Raw's huge Triple Threat tag match, but first they will have a singles showdown. Which competitor will gain the edge prior to Survivor Series? Will Big Show make his presence felt during the match?

Also, it was recently announced that Batista will be taking on Rey Mysterio at Survivor Series in a grudge match. These two have been unable to work out their differences since Bragging Rights, where Batista blamed Rey for causing him to lose the World Heavyweight title. Rey claimed Batista was like family to him and that he valued that over the titles or any other accolades. Batista isn't having that though, and last week on Smackdown promised to hurt anyone who gets in the way of his goal to become the champion again. He dismantled Matt Hardy, eventually leading to a disqualification in their main event match. During a prior backstage interview, Rey Mysterio said that he's ready to show Batista a side of him he never knew existed. Will these two cross paths or add more fuel to their fire on tonight's show?

There's also been three traditional Survivor Series elimination matches added to the PPV. Three of Smackdown's stars will serve as captains for teams at the event, with John Morrison leading a team, as well as divas Mickie James and Michelle McCool. Also part of the teams will be Smackdown's R-Truth, Finlay, Matt Hardy, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Layla, and Beth Phoenix. Smackdown already proved itself to some extent at Bragging Rights, but in these situations Smackdown stars will be on opposing sides, teaming with Raw and ECW wrestlers. How will the superstars of Smackdown prepare themselves for this unique event coming in just about a week?

Check out Smackdown tonight at 8PM EST on MyNetwork TV!
